Mrs. Alma Lucille Ritter (Gordon)
Alma Lucille Ritter, 85, of Waverly, IL and Prescott, Arizona, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001 in Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. She was born July 24, 1916 near Modesto, IL. a daughter of Samuel E. and Leta Grimmett Gordon. She married George Lewis Ritter in Dallas, Texas, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1986.
Surviving are two sons: Dr. Gordon (wife Celia Marie) Ritter of Prescott, Arizona; Gary (wife Judith Ann) Ritter of Prescott, Arizona; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Marie Chapman and Irene Ashbaugh.
She was a homemaker; worked with her husband for many years in the operation of the Mobil Oil Station in Waverly, IL., and worked for several years in the Department of Motor Vehicles in Springfield, IL. She was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church and Wilbur Chapter #358, Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2001 in Waverly United Methodist Church. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2001 at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly, IL where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9;00 p.m. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad or Waverly United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.

Mrs. Myrtle M. Roach (Gregory)
Myrtle M. Roach, 87, of Jacksonville died Tuesday evening, October 16, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born November 8, 1913 in Plano, the daughter of Oscar and Daisy Davis Gregory. She married Marshall Roach and he preceded her in death in 1945.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna M. Roach of Jacksonville; one son, Ron (wife, Margaret) Roach of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Ivan (wife, Ida Mae) Gregory of Jacksonville; two sisters, Maxine Coultas of Winchester and Rosemary Kirkpatrick of Jacksonville, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvan Gregory (surviving wife, Bernice of Alton) and Don Gregory; and one sister, Eula Buhlig (surviving husband, Howard of Bluffs).
Mrs. Roach grew up in the Oxville and Bluffs area. She was a secretary for many years at Sizerite in Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Bloomfield Cemetery, near Bluffs. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County E-911 Board.

Mrs. Mary Irene Roach (Mielke)
Mary Irene Roach, age 91, of Jerseyville, formerly of Carrollton, died Saturday
afternoon, Oct. 13, 2001 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville.
She was born Aug. 6, 1910 in Hardin, the daughter of John and Ethel
Delaney Mielke.
She married Benjamin Roach on Aug. 28, 1940 in St. Charles, Missouri and
he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (husband, Lance) Price of Eldred
and Rosalie (husband, David) Ruyle of Carrollton; one son, Eugene Mielke of
Livingston; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gary “Giggles” Price ,
who died in 1992.
Mrs. Roach was a homemaker and enjoyed working in the yard. She loved
traveling to Branson, Missouri and attending country music shows there. She was
a member of the Church of The Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial at Memorial Gardens
Cemetery at Eldred. Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home. Memorials are suggested to the family

Mr. George Gilman Robinson
George Gilman Robinson, 97, of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of Nortonville and Jacksonville, died Friday afternoon, September 7, 2001 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born on April 10, 1904 in Prentice, the son of Harrison and Alice Foster Robinson. He married Winifred Hicks on February 11, 1930 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on May 19, 1965. He later married Thelma Oxley Simke in December of 1965 and she preceded him in death on December 28, 1980.
He is survived by one daughter, Lucy (husband, Ed) Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Gilman (wife, Judy) Robinson of Severna Park, Maryland; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Nelle Thornley of Ashland and one brother, Marshall Robinson of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffrey Steven Johnson; three sisters, Elizabeth Flinn, Lucy Kellogg, and Eleanor Sullivan; and three brothers, Carroll Robinson, Ralph Robinson, and Floyd Robinson.
Following his marriage to Miss Hicks in 1930, Mr. Robinson and his wife owned and operated a grocery store in Nortonville for several years before moving to McCreedie, Missouri, where he owned a farm. After being widowed a second time, Mr. Robinson moved to Nashville to be near his daughter Lucy and her family.
Mr. Robinson had served on the Nortonville School Board for several years, and remained on the school board following the consolidation of Franklin-Nortonville-Alexander. He had attended Berea Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Barton W. Stone Christian Home.

Mr. Carl S. Robinson
Carl S. Robinson, 84, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born March 14, 1917 in Petersburg the son of Henry E. and Laura Jane Owen Robinson. He married Margaret Bernice Gabhart on April 15, 1937 in Mexico, Missouri and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Carl Michael (wife, Lee) Robinson of Zion; two daughters, Peggy (husband, Larry) Hoffman of Ft. Myers, Florida and Carolyn Sue (deceased husband, Walter S.) Medernach of Aurora; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Robinson of Riverton; and two sisters, Fern Ackerman of Virden and Daisy (husband, Dick) Abbott of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Lee Robinson; and three sisters, Ivol Geriets, Bertha Tribble and Helen Hart.
Mr. Robinson was a baker and had worked at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired and later the Jacksonville State Hospital. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed breeding and raising hunting dogs, especially hounds and beagles. Mr. Robinson was a member of Harmony Lodge #3, A.F.& A.M. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery, north of Jacksonville. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Mr. James W. "Bud" Robinson
James W. (Bud) Robinson, age 94, of the Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Griggsville, Ill. died early Saturday morning (March 10, 2001) at the nursing home.
He was born May 26, 1906 in Hannibal, Missouri son of the late Alfred and Amelia Fritz Robinson.
He married Mary E. Ator on April 15, 1934 in Pike County, Ill. and she preceded him in death on January 13, 1998.
Surviving is one son, James W. (Smoky) Robinson II and wife Lizzetta of Griggsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Holly Robinson of Hanover Park, Ill. and Robbie Robinson and wife Rhiannon of Springfield, Ill.; two sister-in-laws, Rosalie Robinson and Esther Cook both of Griggsville, Ill.; and one brother-in-law, O.W. (Skeet) Ator of Griggsville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Mildred Taylor and Mary C. Robinson; and one brother, Charles Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a 1924 graduate of Griggsville High School. Following graduation he worked at John Wilson Restaurant in Griggsville, Ill. before and owning and operating Robinson’s DX gas station in Griggsville for many years retiring in 1978, when he turned the business over to his son. He was city treasurer for Griggsville, Ill. for many years and a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Griggsville, Ill.
Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. James Episcopal Church in Griggsville, Ill. with Fr. William Roeger officiating. Interment will be in Griggsville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church. Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Robinson (Jones)
Dorothy Marie Robinson, 75, of Jacksonville died early Thursday morning, September 13, 2001 at Jacksonville Convalescent Center. She was born on March 23, 1926 in Arcadia the daughter of Georgie and Irene Mae Mason Jones. She married Joseph Donnell Robinson, Jr. on August 30, 1950 at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2000.
She is survived by one son, Gordon (wife, Sue Miers) of Jacksonville; two daughters, Donna (husband, Michael) Barnes of St. Louis and Dolores (husband, Joel) Siegel of Fresno, California; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Anita (husband, Kenneth) Megginson of Murrayville.
Mrs. Robinson had been a secretary for the Regional Education Office in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. Friends may call after noon on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Mrs. Lula Elizabeth Robson (Hoover)
Lula Elizabeth Hoover Robson, 92, of Waverly, died early Sunday morning, January 14, 2001 at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
She was born on November 24, 1908, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Frances and Louisa Elizabeth Bilbruck Hoover. She married Albert R. Robson on June 22, 1927, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1997.
She is survived buy one son, Carl (wife, Paula) Robson of Crossville, Alabama; one daughter, Alice (husband, Wayne) Gray of Franklin; six grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one step-grandson. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Harold; one grandson; one brother, Walter Hoover and two step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Robson had worked for Dr. Banardi and a local dentist in Waverly. She also worked at Seiz Feed Mill as a bookkeeper for eight years, and later at Victor Kuzin’s Grocery Store, which was later known as Buy Lo Food Market, for 12 years. She was a member of the Auburn Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Neece Funeral home in Waverly, with burial at Waverly East Cemetery. The family will meet friends on hour prior to the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly rescue Squad.

Mr. Ernest C. Roodhouse
Ernest C. Roodhouse, age 97, of White Hall, died Monday afternoon,
Jan. 1, 2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
He was born April 14, 1903 in White Hall, the son of Charles
Benjamin and Abbie L. Tunison Roodhouse.
He married Anna Frances Chapman of March 7, 1943 in Manchester
and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1995.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Dorothy Rimington of
Freeport, Charles Roodhouse of Freeport, Bennett Roodhouse of Green ville,
Rosetta Erb of Green Valley, AZ, Betty Long of East Alton, Jane Gound of
Ashkum, Marilyn Goben of White Hall, Suzanne Steinacher of Carrollton,
Abbie Jean Millgan of Tunkhannock, PA, David Edwards of Edwardsville,
and William Edwards of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one sister,
Abbie Lee Edwards and three brothers, Henry, Edward and Russell
Roodhouse.
Mr. Roodhouse graduated from the White Hall High School in 1920
and attended Illinois College and Brown’s Business College in Jacksonville.
He was a self-employed farmer all his life and farmed the farm located
three miles south of White Hall, known then as the Roodhouse farm. He
was a member of the White Hall Masonic Lodge #80 and served as Master
3 times. He was recently honored for his 75th year as a Mason at the 150th
anniversary of the lodge. He was also a member of the Springfield
Consistory, the Ansar Shrine, and the White Hall Eastern Star Lodge #232,
where he was a Past Matron. He was a member and past president of the
White Hall Cemetery Association Board. He cared for the White Hall
Cemetery for 27 years before retiring in March of 1995. He has commented
that one thing he learned during his tenure on the cemetery board, was that
tombstones are full of history and each one tells a story, and they are hard to
mow around. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in White
Hall all his life and served as church clerk for 13 years. He served in the
U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial in the White
Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home, where public Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:30
p.m.. Memorials are suggested to the White Hall Cemetery.

Robert "Bob" Roth
Robert J. “Bob” Roth, 76, of Carrollton died at 4:20 A.M. on Sunday Dec. 2,
2001 at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.
Born in Michael, Il. on Jan. 23, 1925 he was the son of the late Peter and
Margaret Kelly Roth.
He married the former Betty Scoggins on Dec. 24, 1948 at St.John’s
Catholic Church in Carrollton, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29,
1999. Surviving are: a daughter Judy Roth of Carrollton, 3 sons and a
daughter in law: Robert Roth of Woodriver, Mike Roth of Jacksonville and
Tom and Mirna Roth of Jerseyville, 2 grandchildren Tim and Amanda Roth,
and 2 brothers and sisters in law: Ronald and Linda Roth of Jerseyville and
Donald and Carolyn Roth of Livermore, Colo. He was preceded in death by
a sister Florence.
Mr. Roth was a U.S. Army veteran serving in both WWII and the
Korean Conflict. He worked at Laclede Steel in Alton for 35 years retiring in
1987. He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, The Jerseyville
VFW Post and the Jerseyville Moose Lodge.
Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday
at 10 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton with burial in the
church cemetery. Memorials are to a charity of one’s choice.

Francis "Moon" Roth
Francis J. “Moon” Roth, 83, of Carrollton died at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday
Nov. 27, 2001 at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
Born in Carrollton on March 4, 1918 he was the son of the late John and
Mary Naber Roth.
He married the former Gertrude Sievers on May 8, 1946 in Batchtown
and she survives. Also surviving are: 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Kaye
and Don Carpenter of Elsah, Karen and Fred Long of Dorsey, 2 sons and
daughters-in-law: David and Karen Roth of Jerseyville and Jerry and Glenda
Roth of Carrollton, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 foster great
grandchild, a sister: Loretta Bechdoldt of Carrollton and 2 brothers: Leo Roth
of Edwardsville and Martin Roth of O’Fallon, Il.
He was preceded in death by a son John A. Roth and 2 brothers:
Bernard “Bud” Roth and Louis Roth.
Mr. Roth was a WWII Army veteran, who worked as a meat cutter for
Kroger for 23 years. He also worked at Boyd Mem. Hospital in Carrollton.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton, the Altar
Society of the church, the Carrollton Knights of Columbus and was a charter
member of the St. John’s Church Minutemen.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Airsman-Hires
Fuenral Home in Carrollton. Prayer service will be held at that
evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 A.M. at St. John’s
Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Full military rites will
be given by the Carrollton American Legion Post. Memorials are mentioned
to St. John’s Catholic Church or the Jersey Community Hospital ICU unit.
