Mr. Darrell Eugene Stewart Sr.
Darrell Eugene Stewart Sr., 61, of Waverly died Thursday, December 20, 2001 at his home near Waverly. He was born September 8,1940 rural Waverly, the son of John Frederick and Sylvia May Stillwell Stewart. He married Sharon Adcock October 1, 1961 in Modesto, Illinois.
Mr. Stewart drove tractor semi's coast to coast for many years working for the trucking companies of Clayton Anderson of Waverly, Merle Campbell of Modesto, Whalen Elevator Waverly, Bill Armstrong of Hettick and Mobil Chemical Distribution of Jacksonville.
Mr. Stewart was a member of Waverly Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, Scottville Masonic Lodge #426, Waverly Lions Club, Morgan-Cass Farm Bureau, International Harvester Collectors Central Illinois Chapter #10, and had been Active for many years in activities at Waverly Schools where he had served as Transportation Director before his retirement in September 2001.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; 2 daughters, Darla Stewart and Theresa Walls (fiancee, Tim Lamb); 2 sons, Darrell Jr."Butch" (wife, Missy) and Merril Russel "Rusty" (wife, Melanie) all of Waverly; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers,Floyd (wife, Melba) and Prentice (wife, Bernice) of Waverly; 1 sister, Ruth Craig of Jacksonville; 1 sister in law, Ruth Ann Stewart of Waverly and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family will meet friends Saturday from 4pm-8pm at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. Masonic rites will be held at 8pm. Funeral Service will 1pm Sunday, December 23,2001 at the Waverly Christain Church with burial at Waverly East Cemetary. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Christian Church, American Cancer Society, Waverly Fire and Rescue or St. John's Home Hospice Program.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Ilene Gunther, Bessie Spradlin, and Anna Frances Ebrey, 3 brothers, Merril A Stewart and 2 in infancy.

Danny Eugene Stice
Danny Eugene Stice, 52, of Bloomington and formerly of Winchester passed away Tuesday afternoon (December 11, 2001) at St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington.
He was born November 7, 1949 in Pittsfield the son of Cordell and Rosetta Robinson Stice.
Mr. Stice was attended Winchester Schools. He was a US Army Veteran. He worked as a lineman for Illinois Rural Electric in Winchester for 3 years and then for Corn Belt Electric in Bloomington for 16 years.
Survivors include his sons Billy Stice and Danny Lee Stice both of Bloomington, a grandson and a granddaughter. His mother Rosetta Stice of Winchester, 5 brothers William (wife Amy) Stice of Chatham, George Stice of White Hall, Victor (wife JoAnn) Stice of Roodhouse, Kevin Stice of Roodhouse, and Ray Stice of Winchester. 5 sisters, Judy (husband Ron) Hadden of Cooperstown, Rosalee (husband Cecil) Lyons of Alsey, Joyce Roberts of Winchester, Teresa Stice of Jacksonville and Sara (husband Matt) Peterson of Divernon.
Preceding him in death was his father Cordel Stice and a niece.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday (December 13, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Multiple Sclerosis research.

Mr. Milton Stimpson
Milton S. Stimpson, 78, of Jacksonville died Saturday evening, December 30, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on July 5, 1922 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the son of William and Roberta Close Stimpson.
He is survived by his special friend, Vivian Pond of Jacksonville; two daughters, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Marie McDonald.
Mr. Stimpson had been a technician at the Jacksonville Developmental Center prior to his retirement. He had served in the United States Army during World War II from 1940-1944 and received the Purple Heart for his efforts. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Meredosia. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans.

Mrs. Lura Lee Strang (Lee)
Lura Lee Strang, age 86, of White Hall, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 at
the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born Dec. 19, 1914 in White Hall, the daughter of Ward and
Lela Lee Lorton.
She married William H. Strang on Sept. 10, 1937 in White Hall and
he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1999.
She is survived by one son, William H. (wife, Gloria H.) Strang of
Jerseyville; two daughters, Mary Lee (husband, S. Jerome) Reshkin of
Chicago and Lucy Jane (husband, Carl) Klemaier of White Hall; three
grandchildren, Katherine Lee (husband, Keith) Nightlinger of Mt. Prospect;
William Howard Strang, III and Daniel Patrick Strang, both of Jerseyville;
and one brother, Gerald Lorton of Roodhouse.
Mrs. Strang was a very active member of the White Hall United
Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for a
number of years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and
served as president for many years. She was also a member of the Apple
Creek Prairie Chapter DAR and was a descendant of Civil War veteran
Robert Lorton. She was also a member and past president of the White
Hall PEO Chapter BJ and member and past Matron of the Order of Eastern
Star in White Hall. She was a White Hall High School graduate.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2001 at
the White Hall United Methodist Church with burial at the White Hall
Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Memorials are suggested to
the White Hall United Methodist Church.

Virginia Marie Strope (Summers)
Virginia Marie Strope, 83, of Winchester passed away early Saturday morning (March 24, 2001) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born October 29, 1917 near Winchester the daughter of the late Frank T. and Alma M. Baird Summers.
She married Charles R. “Pete” Grady. She later married Virgil C. Strope. They both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son Charlie (wife Linda) Grady of Jacksonville. 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter. 3 step granddaughters. 5 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
She attended Winchester schools. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pekin VFW Auxiliary where she also worked for several years.
Mrs. Strope loved to fish and loved to play Bingo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday (March 27, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester EMS or to the donors choice.

Francis Day Stults (Day)
Frances Day Stults, 73, of Carrollton died at 9:05 A.M. on Sunday August
12, 2001 at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Pike Co. on Feb. 23, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Roy
and Z. Elsie Shellhorse Ruble.
She first married Clyde Day on June 11, 1945 and he preceded her in
death on June 4, 1981. She later married Dean Stults on April 19, 1995 and
he survives.
Also surviving are : a daughter: Mrs. Jim “Connie” Jones of Carrollton,
2 sons: Terry (wife-Connie) Day of Carrollton and Steve (wife-Margaret)
Day of Carrollton, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and 2
sisters: Mildred Roach of Hamburg and Georgia Lee Smith of Pleasant Hill.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Stults had spent a good portion of her life caring for the elderly and
attended Faith Baptist Church in Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held at the Faith Baptist
Church on Wednesday at 10 A.M. with burial to follow in Memorial
Gardens Cemetery near Eldred. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist
Church or the Blessing Hospice of Green e Co.

Mrs. Mary Brooks Stultz
Mary Brooks Stultz, 89, of Springfield and formerly of Roodhouse, died on Monday evening, March 19, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on August 26, 1911 in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, the daughter of Homer and Martha Ellen Jones Brooks. She married Vaughn Stultz on March 19, 1944 in Yuma, Arizona and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1999.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Brooks of Chesterfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, William Brooks, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Stultz was a homemaker and had worked at Tobin Jewelers in Springfield for many years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Springfield and the Toastmistress Club of Springfield.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2001 at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse from noon until time of departure for the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Central Baptist Church.

Mary Agnes Summers
Mary Agnes Summers, 85, of rural Winchester died Thursday afternoon (January 11, 2001) of natural causes in Vicksburg, Mississippi while visiting family.
She was born November 14, 1915 in Pittsfield the daughter of the late Jess and Maggie Carlton.
She married Homer Cleo (Bud) Summers November 5, 1938 in Springfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 12, 1988.
She is survived by a daughter Sandra Neff and two sons Rex Summers and Gary Summers all of Winchester. There are 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A grandson Clint Aren Summers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Summers was a member of the Lynnville Christian Church. She lived and farmed with her husband south of Lynnville. She worked at J.C. Penney for many years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed her family, camping and travel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday (January 16, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Phyllis Jean Sweeney (Avey)
Phyllis Jean Sweeney, 75, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, August 11, 2001 at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville. She was born on July 14, 1926 in Dixon the daughter of Syril and Lula Pyper Avey. She married Richard Leo Sweeney on June 29, 1946 in Mt. Morris and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lou (husband, Larry) Bork of Jacksonville and Susan Kay (husband, Kerry) Boatman of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Richard Phillip (wife, Joanne) Sweeney of Linden, Virginia; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy A. (husband, Roy) Brown of Rockville, Maryland; two brothers, Robert E. Avey of Mt. Morris and Spencer E. (wife, Joyce) Avey of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Bork.
Mrs. Sweeney had graduated from Rockford Business College in 1945. She had worked as Executive Secretary at Brownberry Ovens in Wisconsin. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.
Private funeral services will be held this week at Calvary Cemetery in Rockford, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and may be given at the Williamson Funeral Home. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lotus E. Tapen (Dierking)
Lotus E. Tapen, 85, of Carrollton died at 7:22 P.M. on Tuesday March 27,
2001 at the Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born in Hamburg on Nov. 28, 1915 she was the daughter of the late
Harrison and Iva Ainsel Dierking.
She married Raymond G. Tapen on April 15, 1947 in Jerseyville and he
preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Robert L. “Elaine” Flowers of Carlinville,
2 sons: David (wife-Linda) Tapen of Carrollton and Keith (wife-Cindy)
Tapen of Carrollton, 6 grandchildren: Amanda Settles, Ginger Tapen, Jamie
Tapen, Katie and Kristy Flowers and Michael Tapen, 1 great grandchild:
Delaney Settles, and a sister : Bonavier Dierking of Jerseyville.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Jane Short, and 3 brothers:
Nolan, Forrest and Merle Dierking.
Mrs. Tapen was a beautician in Jerseyville for many years and was a
member of St. John’s Church in Carrollton. She had served in the past as a
4-H leader also.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton with prayer service at 5:30 P.M.. Funeral mass
will be celebrated on Friday at 10 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in
Carrollton by Fr. Barry Harmon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Green e Co. Health Dept., Reisch Mem. Nursing
Home, the American Lung Assoc. or for masses.

Mr. Robert Lee Tarrant
Robert Lee Tarrant, 24, of Lawton, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born August 12, 1976 in Lawton, Okla, the son of Alfred L. and Candice Kay Tarrant.
He attended Garfield Elementary, Tomlinson Junior High and Eisenhower High School in Lawton.
Survivors include: his father of Kuwait, his mother of Lawton, one daughter, Patricia Jennifer Tarrant of Lawton, uncles and aunts: Mike Tarrant of Palmyra, IL., Danny and Debbie Tarrant of Sacramento, Cal., Connie and Ray Kulczak of Bloomington, Indiana, and Penny and Timothy Postlethwait of Lawton, Okla, Paternal Grandparents: Alfred and Mary Tarrant of Palmyra, IL.; five cousins: Duane Postlethwait of Lawton, OK., Tiffany Tarrant of Sacramento, Cal., Carrie, Amanda, and Alison Kulczak, all of Bloomington, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Pat Ensley.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in Grace Fellowship in Lawton, Oklahoma, with Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service in Charge.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, IL with the Stults-Neece Funeral Home of Palmyra in charge.
