Mrs. Mary Beatrice Tucker (Henson)
Mary Beatrice Henson Tucker, age 95, of the Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Perry, Ill. died Monday (April 30, 2001) at the nursing home.
She was born July 28, 1905 in Scott County, Ill. daughter of the late Alex and Arvilla Linn Henson.
She married Russell Tucker on October 29, 1923 in Hannibal, Mo. and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1998.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Elmo (Mary Elizabeth) Waters of Pittsfield, Ill.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Gordon (Nancy) Monahan of Nebo, Ill.; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Griffy-Monahan of Nebo, Ill.; one sister, Mae Henson Taylor of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Letha Henson Hinch and Stella Henson Conkright; and two brothers, Clarence and Eugene Henson.
Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker who was a long time member of the Perry United Methodist Church in Perry, Ill.. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and flowers.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (May 3, 2001) at the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill. with Bro. Robert Hammitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill.. Memorials may be made to the Perry United Methodist Church or to the Perry Cemetery Association.

Elmer L. Tucker
Elmer L. Tucker, 89, of Green field died at 6:10 P.M. on Wednesday Jan.
31, 2001 at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Wrights on Oct. 12, 1911 he was the son of the late Claude and
Lena Meister Tucker.
He married the former Louise Hansen on Aug. 16, 1945 in Carrollton and
she survives.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and great nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Jake Tucker and 2 sisters: Mabel
Scheffer and an infant Mary Louise Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was a WWII Army veteran and member of the Carrollton
American Legion Post. He was a lifelong farmer and member St. John’s
Catholic Church in Carrollton as well as the Knights of Columbus, the Holy
Name Society and the Green e Co. Farm Bureau.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday at the St. John’s Catholic
Church in Carrollton where services will be held on Monday at 10 A.M. with
burial to follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Memorials
are mentioned to the St. John’s and St. Michael’s Churches. Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Christine Turner (Fluckey)
Christine Turner, 80, of Jacksonville died Friday afternoon, April 6, 2001 at Prairie Village Healthcare in Jacksonville. She was born on October 12, 1920 in Versailles, Brown County, the daughter of David Ira Darrell and Nina Hulett Fluckey. She married Russell H. Turner on August 23, 1938 in Palmyra and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Nina McAlister of Jacksonville and Paula Brayton of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one son, Ernest (wife, Kathy) Turner of Meredosia; fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Frances Girard of Jacksonville; and four brothers, Ernest (wife, Betty) Fluckey of Mt. Sterling, Melvin (wife, Christine) Fluckey of Versailles, Charles (wife, Cathy) Fluckey of Chalmers, Indiana, and James Fluckey of Versailles.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacy Jane; and two sons, George Russell and David Eugene.
Mrs. Turner was a House Parent at Illinois School for the Deaf, retiring in 1977. Prior to that, she had been a employed at NESCO. She was a member of the First Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Mr. Emil A. Turner
Emil A. Turner, 81, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born July 31, 1920 in Troy, Missouri the son of Dolph and Maude Kessinger Turner. He married Mildred Ruth Frietag in September of 1961 and she preceded him in death on June 1, 1978.
Surviving are two sons, Steven A. Turner of Jacksonville and Herman (wife, Tammie) Turner of Ravenna, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, one brother, Keith Turner of Klamath Falls, Oregon and one sister, Evelyn Evans of Payson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl and one sister, Kathleen.
Mr. Turner had worked at Amvet Post #100 in Jacksonville for over 30 years. Prior to that he had been employed by the Steele Brothers for over 20 years. He was a veteran having served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Turner was a member of Amvet Post #100, Jacksonville Moose Lodge, and V.F.W. Post #1379.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Amvet Post #100.

Mr. Jesse Turner Jr.
Jesse Turner, Jr., 74, of Jacksonville died Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born February 9, 1927 in Cypress, Illinois, the son of Jesse Earl Turner and Emma Elizabeth Goodall Love. He married Frances Hinman on January 29, 1945 and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Earl (wife, Russann) Turner of Jacksonville and Jim (wife, Sue) Turner of Orange Texas; two daughters, Linda (husband, Dean) Jones of Jacksonville and Betty (husband, Dean) Edwards of Bluffs; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (husband, Ronnie) Flannigan of Marion, Illinois and several nieces and nephews in southern Illinois.
Mr. Turner retired as a supervisor at the Jacksonville State Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army as a Medic. He was a member of the Jacksonville VFW Post #1379 and played in a country band in the Jacksonville area. Mr. Turner attended Literberry Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. on Thursday with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Mr. John E. Turner
John E. Turner, 75, of Jacksonville died early Tuesday morning, February 27, 2001 at his residence, after an extended illness. He was born on December 6, 1925 in Virginia the son of James C. and Olive Van Etten Turner. He married Mary Lee Davison on July 15, 1951 in Ashland and she survives in Jacksonville.
He is also survived by one son, John W. Turner; one daughter, Marilyn S. Turner; one grandson, Lucas R. Turner (his mother, Kathryn Turner); and one sister, Patricia A. Turner, all of Jacksonville; one brother, Thomas R. (wife, Ruth) Turner of Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Turner graduated early from Jacksonville High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 as Signalman Second Class. He joined his father’s plastering business and worked as a plasterer for many years. He retired from the Department of Revenue, State of Illinois in December of 1990. He was a member of the Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Visiting Nurses of Central Illinois, Jacksonville Branch.

Mrs. Jean Ann Turner (Powers)
Jean Ann Turner, 63, of Jacksonville died Friday evening, August 10, 2001
at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on January 31, 1938 the daughter of John and Katherine Powers. She married Donnie Turner on September 26, 1964 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1992.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (husband, Andy) Eilers of Chandlerville; three sons, James (wife, Robin) Turner of Putnam, and Donnie Joe (wife, Patty) Turner and Brian (wife, Monica) Turner, both of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, and two sisters, Charlotte Ratliff of Lerna and Judy Smith of Clarksville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by one son, Lonnie.
Mrs. Turner had been administrator of the Jacksonville Area Community Food Center for 14 years, passionate about never letting children go hungry. She had been a member of the Morgan County Saddle Club and the Bandits Dance Club and had attended Centenary United Methodist Church. Mrs. Turner enjoyed devoting most of her time and effort to the Jacksonville Area Community Food Center and was a strong advocate for area churches. She also enjoyed taking bus trips with the Success 60 Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Turner Family or the Jacksonville Area Community Food Center.

Mrs. Mary Ann Uder (Green walt)
Mary Ann Uder, 96, of Palmyra, formerly of Carlinville, died on Friday, January 5, 2001 in her home in Palmyra. She was born on September 15, 1904 in Carlinville, Illinois, a daughter of Frank and Ella Watt Green walt. She married Charles O. Uder on July 4, 1933 and he preceded her in death in February 14, 1981.
Surviving Mrs. Uder are one son: Donald “Gene” (wife, Nancy) Uder of Brighton; two daughters: Wilma Steidley, of Peoria; Kathy (husband, Tom) Stults of Palmyra; one brother, Walter Green walt of Springfield; one sister, Ruth Barrow of Metamora, IL; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren, and four step great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Oren Green walt, and Harry Green walt, and one sister, Edith Green walt.
She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2001 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville.

Mr. Frank L. Van Pelt
Frank Lawrence Van Pelt, 80, of Modesto, died Friday, January 5, 2001 at the Illinois Soldiers Home in Quincy.
He was born on February 5, 1920 in Carlinville the son of Lawrence and Lucy Bastide Van Pelt. He married Virginia Frances Coffey in Carlinville in 1947, and she preceded him in death on September 16, 1996.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy (husband, John) Woodruff of New Berlin, Joyce (husband, Larry) Barkley of Carlinville, DeeAnn (husband, Jerry) Arnold and Shirley (husband, Thomas) Thompson, both of Modesto; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Delores Sooy of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Mr. Van Pelt owned and operated a garage in Modesto for several years and was a carpenter until he retired. He was a veteran of World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2001 at Neece Funeral Home in Waverly, with burial at Mayfield Cemetery in Carlinville. The family will meet friends from noon until the time of services on Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the Modesto Methodist Church.

Mrs. Lydia Lucille Vance (Miller)
Lydia Lucille Vance, 92, of Palmyra, died Saturday, February 10, 2001 in Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on June 30, 1908 in Girard, a daughter of Solomon Dempsey and Mary Elizabeth Myers Miller. She married Kirwan Ralph Vance in Carlinville on August 24, 1929, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1986.
Surviving Mrs. Vance are four sons: Donald (wife, Mildred) of Shebyville, Il; Norman (wife, Janie) of Palmyra; Coy (wife, Brenda) of Santa Monica, California; Kenneth (wife, Carol) of Springfield; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Coy Miller; two sisters; Essie Sample and Golda Vance; and three grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of Palmyra First Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to Northwestern Rescue Squad or Palmyra First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Naydne Vertrees (Allen)
Naydne Vertrees, age 100, of Griggsville, Ill. died late Saturday evening (January 13, 2001) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill..
She was born July 13, 1900 in Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late Charles Henry and Nellie Blye Cryder Allen.
She married Edward D. Vertrees on June 30, 1919 in Pittsfield, Ill. and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Vertrees of Corydon, Indiana and John Vertrees of New Carlisle, Ohio; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including nephew Herbert Allen, Jr. of Chambersburg, Ill..
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Herbert Vertrees and Cleon Lacy Vertrees; a sister, Mildred Brooks; and a brother, Herbert Allen, Sr..
Mrs. Vertrees was a graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Ill..
Funeral services will be private with burial in Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill.. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Wilson Cemetery. Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joy Wade (Schone)
Joy Wade, age 61, of Winchester, Ill. died early Saturday morning (January 13, 2001) at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill..
She was borne October 10, 1939 in Arenzville, Ill. daugher of John and Verna Schnitker Schone.
Surviving is her mother Verna Schone of Arenzville, Ill.; one son, Brad Wade and wife Becky of Winchester, Ill.; one daughter, Darcy Delaney and husband Ed Turnipseed of Tampa, Florida; three grandchildren, Danielle, Sean, and Karlee Wade all of Winchester, Ill.; two brothers, Dean Schone and wife Mary of Washington, Ill. and Ron Schone and wife Sara of Arenzville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Schone of Viola, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, Jack Schone.
Mrs. Wade had been employed by Jacksonville Savings and Loan, Computer Store, and Capitol Sound and Lighting all located in Jacksonville, Ill., and Win-Pac/Win-Data of Winchester, Ill..
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday (January 17, 2001) at the Winchester City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Winchester Library or to the Morgan-Scott Volunteer Clinic c/o the funeral home. Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of arrangements.

Ima Rose Wade (Little)
Ima Rose Wade, age 79, of Berdan died at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday August
4, 2001 at Reisch Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born near Carrollton on July 25, 1922 she was the daughter of the late
Harry H. and Rosa Borlin Little.
On Oct. 14, 1939 she married Ernest R. Wade in Bowling Green , Mo.
and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2001.
Surviving are a son: Gene Wade of Berdan, three grandchildren: Steve,
Scott and Caleb Wade, 5 great grandchildren, one sister: Harriet Yoeman of
Macomb. She was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Beatrice Smith and 2
brothers: Henry and Sam Little.
Mrs. Wade enjoyed quilting and tending her flowers. She was a
member of the Berdan Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial in the Carrollton City
Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Berdan Baptist Church.

Ernest R. Wade
Ernest R. Wade, 83, of Berdan died at 11:58 P.M. on Sunday Jan. 28, 2001
at the Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born near Belltown on July 16, 1917 he was the son of the late James
Ernest and Dorothy O. Ridings Wade.
He married the former Ima Rose Little on Oct. 14, 1939 in Bowling
Green , Mo. and she survives. Also surviving are a son : Gene Wade of
Berdan, 2 grandsons: Scott and Steve Wade and 5 great grandchildren. A
sister Velma Baumgartner of Jerseyville also survives.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Dorothy Goodman and Leona O.
Bridgewater.
Mr. Wade was a World War II Army veteran and was a painter at Pierre
Marquette State Park for many years. He was a member of the Carrollton
American Legion and Painter’s Local #471 in Alton and the Berdan Baptist
Church.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Thursday at 10
A.M. with burial to follow in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials may
be made to the Berdan Baptist Church.
