Mr. Harold K. Wittmer
Harold K. Wittmer, 72, of Palmyra died early Saturday morning, October 6, 2001 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1928 in Ponca City, Oklahoma the son of John and Cora Merrick Wittmer. He married Betty DeCroix in 1966 in Virginia, Illinois and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Earl Wittmer of Carrollton and Dennis (wife, Carmen) Wittmer of Palmyra; two daughters, Lori Wittmer of Palmyra and Kristen Brown of Modesto; one step-daughter, Karen Marion of Springfield; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Keith (wife, Betty) Wittmer of Ponca City, Oklahoma and two sisters, Linda (husband, George) Harney and Ynette (husband, Harley) Stevens both of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Mr. Wittmer had been employed as a pipefitter and welder at Local 137 in Springfield, where he retired in 1987.
Following cremation, a private service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Northwestern Rescue Squad. Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra is in charge of the arrangements.
Ruth Ellen Wohlers
Ruth Ellen Wohlers, 50, of rural Roodhouse died Monday evening (January 15, 2001) at her home.
She was born April 27, 1950 in Jacksonville the daughter of the late Arthur John William and Gladys Lenora Hamilton Wohlers.
She was a 1968 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was employed at EMI in Jacksonville, she was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Surviving is long time companion Jerry Stinebaker at home, a daughter Tria Tyanne (husband Brian) Homer of South Jacksonville. A grandson Alex. Also surviving are 7 sisters Mrs. Lloyd (Beulah) Ginder, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Dufelmeier both of Arenzville, Mrs. Howard (Lenora) Lovecamp of Custer Park, IL, Roberta Wohlers and Mrs. Gerald W. (Norma Lovecamp-Michael) Michael both of Jacksonville, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Essex of Phoenix, AZ, Mrs. Jerry (Thelma) Barrington of Springfield, 3 brothers Melvin (wife Naomi) Wohlers of Jacksonville, Ralph (wife Thelma) Wohlers of Franklin, and Gerald (wife Cheryl) Wohlers of Geneva, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were 2 brothers Leonard and Owen Wohlers.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday (January 20, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
A visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mildred Woodrum
Mildred Woodrum, 61, of Jacksonville and formerly of Winchester died early Friday (March 2, 2001) at her home.
She was born July 28, 1939 in Ashland the daughter of Carl and Inez Goeder Ratliff. She married Jesse Flynn in 1958, she later married Alvin Woodrum in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded by 2 brothers Carl Ratliff Jr., Richard Ratliff and a sister Loretta Ratliff.
Mrs. Woodrum attended Ashland schools. She worked at Slagles Restaurant in Winchester, and helped her husband operate Woodrum’s Service Station in Winchester for many years. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Winchester.
Survivors include her children Carolyn Ratliff of Green field, Wisconsin, Jackie Flynn (husband Michael Austin) of Jacksonville, Dale (wife Lisa) Flynn of Winchester and Patty Flynn of Jacksonville. 7 grandchildren. Stepchildren Leonard Woodrum of Winchester, Brenda (husband Tim) Dennis of Winter Haven, Florida, Linda (husband Edward) Young of Riverton.
A brother William Ratliff of Ashland, 3 sisters Eula Mae Winner of Ashland, Helen Yancy of Springfield, and Margaret Mentgen of Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday (March 5, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Lyle Milton Wooldridge
Lyle Milton Wooldridge, 71, of Jacksonville died Sunday evening, January 7, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield following a heart attack on Saturday. He was born on February 14, 1929 in Patterson, the son of Herman Clifford and Dorothy Mae Murray. He married Lillian Fitzsimmons on December 22, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 26, 1993. He married Nell Ann Taylor Stone Peck in September of 1996 and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Dale Lee (wife, Karen) Wooldridge of Basalt, Colorado, Christopher Lyle (wife, Debbie) Wooldridge of Shawnee, Kansas, Michael Ray Wooldridge of Carbondale, Colorado; two daughters, Lynn Marie Moore and Lisa Kay Dunham, both of Poway, California; one step-son, Michael Guy (wife, Lisa) Stone of California; two step-daughters, Deborah Stone Fahey of Berwyn, Pennsylvania and Dyann Lynn Stone of Concord, California; six grandchildren, five-step-grandchildren, one brother, Dale (wife, Barbara) Wooldridge of Jacksonville; two sisters, Wilmeth (husband, Eugene) Kessler of Bloomington and Elinor (husband, Wilbur) Vieira of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wooldridge was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Donald, and one sister, Trenna Mae Sauer (surviving husband Paul of Mountain Home, Arkansas.)
Mr. Wooldridge was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and owned Wooldridge Painting and Decorating until his retirement.
Mr. Wooldridge served as a submarine sailor on the U.S.S. Pomfret and Breen in the Asia-Pacific and North Atlantic. He holds many medals from his service years. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1379 and was a Past-Post Commander. He was a member of the Submarine Veterans, and the Royal Order of Cooties, an honorary submarine association.
Mr. Wooldridge was a lifelong outdoorsman, maintained his extensive vegetable and flower gardens, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military graveside honors will be accorded. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School or a charity of choice.
Mrs. Thesal F. Woolfolk (Maberry)
Thesal Florean Maberry Woolfolk, 87, of O’Fallon, Illinois, formerly of Carlinville and Scottville, Illinois died on Sunday, November 11, 2001 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. She was born on July 15, 1914 in Green e County, Illinois near Green field, the daughter of Herbert and Zella Ferguson Maberry. She married Walter Melvin Woolfolk on March 10, 1934 in Wood River, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2000.
Surviving Mrs. Woolfolk are three sons: Richard “Dick” (wife, Starr) Woolfolk of Sacramento, California; Melvin Dean (wife, Kathy) Woolfolk of Silvis, Illinois; William “Bill” C. (wife, Marla Katherine) Woolfolk of Carlinville, Illinois; one daughter, Patricia Ann (husband, Dick) Spencer of O’Fallon, Illinois; two sisters: Bernadine Moore of Springfield, Illinois and Verna Grubb of Manchester, Illinois; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother,
Puggie, in childhood.
She was a member of Scottville Christian Church and the Willing Workers’ Class and Scottville Modesto HCE.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2001 at Scottville Christian Church, Scottville, Illinois. Mrs. Dorothy Mae Workman (Stuhmer)
Dorothy Mae Workman, age 93, of Hillview, died Saturday
afternoon, Nov. 10, 2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center.
She was born March 4, 1908 in Franklin County, Nebraska, the
daughter of John and Theda Jelkin Stuhmer.
She first married Rudolph Lane and he preceded her in death in 1960.
She later married Ivan Workman in 1967 and he preceded her in death in
1970.
She is survived by five grandchildren who were raised in her home,
Marty Buchanan of Hillview; Steve Baird of Waverly; Jerry Baird of
Glenarm; Julie Page of Waverly and Marcia Stirsman of Normal; two
stepsons, Morris “Bud” Lane and Robert Lane, both of Chandlerville; six
stepgrandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by one daughter, Marilyn Baird; four sisters, Annie Kunzeman, Tena
Bergman, Helen Ray and Lena Workman; and two brothers, George
Stuhmer and John Stuhmer.
Mrs. Workman was a member of the Hillview Baptist Church and
Royal Neighbors of America Camp 9099 at Hillview. She was a cook at
Walker’s Nursing Home and Kirkpatrick Nursing Home in Virginia for
many years and also worked at Ford’s Shelter Care in White Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at
the Hillview Baptist Church with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery near
Patterson. The family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the
church. Memorials are suggested to the Hillview Baptist Church.
David L. Worthey
We the family of David Worthey, 83, give praise to God that he was lead to
his heavenly home on Sunday Jan. 28, 2001.
Born on Sept. 19, 1917 in Alton he was the son of the late Charles E. and
Ida Fillager Worthey.
He first married Opal V. Hardwick in 1944 and she preceded him in
death in 1979. He later married Alta (Upton) McNeely in 1980 and she
preceded him in death in 1988.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Dolly Liles and Mrs. Larry “Donna”
Hardwick both of Carrollton and a son Arthur (wife-Doreen) Worthey of
Clarksville, Tenn. Three grandsons: David (wife-Cathy) Carver, Arthur
(ex-wife Dawn) and Keith Jaworski. Three step grandchildren: Matt, Kyle
and Nichole. 5 great grandchildren: Justin, Rachel, Ashlee, Nicholas, and
Taylor. 1 sister: Sina “Sue” Gilworth of Rolling Prairie, Ind. and a very
special friend Geneva Kessie of Carrollton. Numerous nieces and nephews
and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Edward and 3 sisters: Pearl
Nichols, Meda Plattner and Helen Dabbs and twin girls in infancy.
David was a member of the Green e Co. Civil Defense Unit, retired
farmer, and City of Carrollton Employee and had worked at Jiffi-Stop Car
Wash for 5 years.
Visitation will be from 10 A.M. on Friday until service time at Noon at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will follow in the
Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials are to: Adopt-A-Pet or AWANNA
Group.
Mrs. Marjorie E. Wyatt (Mansfield)
Marjorie E. Wyatt, 83, of Jacksonville died Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2001 at Jacksonville Convalescent Center. She was born on January 17, 1918 near Scottville in Macoupin County the daughter of Albert Eugene “Tink” and Lois Rochester Mansfield. She married Jim Wyatt and he preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by three sisters, Wanda Mansfield of Jacksonville, Dorothy (husband, Adie) Damrau of Jacksonville, and Joan VanBebber of Lutz, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, David Mansfield and two sisters, Helen M. Green and Betty Mansfield.
Mrs. Wyatt was a laboratory technician at Union Starch Laboratory in Granite City for many years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Granite City and enjoyed flower gardening and cats.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Youngblood Cemetery at Nortonville. Essie M. Yakley
Essie M. Yakley, 98, of Pittsfield passed away early Tuesday morning (September 4, 2001) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born November 15, 1902 in Pittsfield the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Hulsman Yakley.
She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She began working at the Pike County Abstract and Title Company at the age of 15 as a Typist, then as the Manager, and then as the Owner of the Company. She was a member of the Business Professional Woman's Club and the 1st Christian Church in Pittsfield. She loved gardening, flowers and the outdoors. She also loved to collect antiques.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters Carrie Risley, Helen Main and Eva Marie Yakley, and a brother Elmer Yakley.
Survivors include 5 nieces Dorothy (husband Dealas) Akin of Griggsville, Marjorie (husband Clarence) Gamble of Pittsfield, Erma (husband Oral) Bethard of Pittsfield, Margaret (husband Howard) Smith of Onaga, Kansas and Glenna (husband Joe) Conkright of Baylis, 2 nephews Donald Risley of Perry and Marvin (wife Earlene) Risley of Baylis as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday (September 8, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield.
Burial will be in Pittsfield West Cemetery.

Mr. Wendell E. Yeck
Wendell E. “Windy” Yeck, 70, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, October 13, 2001 at Skyview Terrace, Ltd. in Jacksonville. He was born on June 12, 1931 in Concord the son of Russell and Edra Plank Yeck.
He is survived by one sister, Wanda Surratt of Beardstown; one niece, and several cousins.
Mr. Yeck had worked at the Standard Station in Jacksonville and later owned a lawn service. He had attended Concord Christian Church in Concord.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at Concord Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Skyview Terrace, Ltd.
Mr. Roy Yockey
Roy Yockey, age 87, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Perry, Ill. died Thursday, August 9, 2001 in his home.
He was born November 27, 1913 in Perry, Ill. son of the late Roy C. and Bessie Thiele Yockey.
He married Donna Hannant on July 21, 1941 in Washington, D.C. and she survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Karen O’Quin and husband Jack of Austin, Texas; one grandson, Rylan Bosher and wife Tonya of Austin, Texas; and three step-grandchildren, Maya, Josh, and Michael O’Quin all of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Dean Yockey who was killed in the Philippines during World War II.
Mr. Yockey attended Grimes Grand School near Perry, Ill. and graduated from Perry High School in 1930. He entered Civilian Federal Service on May 12, 1941 at Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C.. He was furloughed for military service, serving in the U.S. Army in World War II from April 2, 1943 to December 3, 1945. He was wounded in action in Italy on December 5, 1943 and was awarded in the Purple Heart Medal. He returned to Civilian Federal Service at Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C. on January 7, 1946. Effective December 5, 1955, he transferred to Hq USAF, Military Personnel Records, Officers Document Branch in Washington, D.C.. The USAF military personnel records were relocated to Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Roy arrived at the USAF Military Personnel Center on June 27, 1965. He was greatly involved in the implementation of a microform reproduction and computer/technology system for storing and retrieving master personnel record document images of USAF personnel. Later he was project officer responsible for updating the Air Force regulation 30-20 pertaining to the issue and control of identification (ID) cards and was consulted for interpretation of policy. He retired from 40 years of Civilian Federal Service on May 31, 1980.
He and his wife traveled in 49 states, from coast to coast and Hawaii. Travelng to Alaska had been his dream for years, a dream which came true twice, once at age 80 and again at age 82. These trips were made by auto with male friends and he found the state more interesting and beautiful than he had imagined.
In November 2000 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, staying moderately active until the time of his death. He and Donna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 21, 2001. They were pleasantly surprised when their niece and nephew, Janet and Mike Straus, arrived at their home to help them celebrate, along with other relatives.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday (October 13, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Dorothy Fellhauer officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill. with graveside military rites conducted by Perry American Legion Post. Memorials may be made to the Perry Cemetery Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Louise Young
Louise Young, 87, of rural Roodhouse passed away Friday evening (November 30, 2001) at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born January 12, 1914 in Winchester the daughter of the late Jesse R. and Margaret M. Hoots Templin.
She married James F. Young May 26, 1934 in Scott County. He preceded her in death May 20, 2000. Also preceding her was a son Charles Young, 3 sisters Bernice Christison, Gladys Winder and Ilene King, 3 brothers Burley, Edward and Earl Templin.
Mrs. Young was a home maker and a member of the Athensville Baptist Church.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Margaret McDade of Winchester, Marjorie Reynolds of Macon, IL, and Mary Morrell of Decatur, IL, a son Jesse Young of Roodhouse, a sister Margaret Sutzer of Springfield, IL, 10 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday (December 4, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3:00 PM Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Lois E. Zachary (Parker)
Lois E. (Parker) Zachary, 65, of Winchester died late Monday evening (January 15, 2001) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born February 23, 1935 in Winchester the daughter of the late Loren and Anna Glossop Parker.
She married Samuel J. Zachary January 21, 1956 in Winchester. He preceded her in death November 12, 1986. Also proceding her in death were a brother and sister in infancy.
Mrs. Zachary worked at Roosa’s Cafe in Winchester for many years. She also worked at the Scott County Nursing Center where she retired in 1981.
Surviving are her children Sandra (husband Nathaniel) Hawk of Naples, Michael (wife Janet) Zachary and Ida (husband Greg) Hoots both of Winchester. 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her sisters Vera Kirkpatrick of Winchester, Norma Herrien of Pekin, Beulah Anders of Winchester, Wanda VanMeter of White Hall, and a brother Wayne Parker of Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (January 20, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery in Winchester. The family will meet with friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
