Mrs. Lula M. Hamm (Cox)
Lula M. Hamm, 94, of Jacksonville and formerly of Concord, died early Sunday morning, February 3, 2002 at her residence. She was born on May 2, 1907 in Bluffs the daughter of Ralph B. and Fanniedell Northcutt Cox. She married William Edward Hamm on December 26, 1927 in Chapin and he preceded her in death in March of 1976.
She is survived by five daughters, Barb Hamm, Lois Clayton, Mary K. Antle, and Doris (husband, John) Gaines, all of Jacksonville; and Tina (husband, Gene) Dunn of Nilwood; four sons, William (wife, Sharon) Hamm and Virgle (wife, Karen) Hamm, both of Joplin, Missouri; and Charles Hamm, and Frank (wife, Sandra) Hamm, both of Jacksonville; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Louise VanHyning; three sons, John Hamm, Dale Hamm, and James Hamm (surviving wife Pat of Jacksonville); three infant sisters, three brothers, Harold K. Cox, Charles E. Cox, and Warren Cox; and two granddaughters.
Mrs. Hamm attended school in Concord. She was a cook at Hobby Horse in Jacksonville and was a member of the First Church of God in Jacksonville. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and babysitting with all of her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Concord Cemetery at Concord. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the First Church of God.

Mr. John V. Hammond
John V. Hammond, 82, of Jacksonville died Wednesday evening, January 16, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born December 29, 1919 in St. Louis the son of Chester and Felicia Marie Meyer Hammond. He married Edna Lawson on April 13, 1941 in St. Louis and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Cheryl Hammond of Maryland Heights, Missouri; two grandchildren; one brother, Michael Glenn (wife, Helen) Hammond of Arizona and one sister Katherine (husband, Royal) Brooks of Newton. He was preceded in death by one infant son, John Michael, and one sister, Lucille Eilering.
Mr. Hammond was a mail carrier in Jacksonville, retiring in 1981. He also worked at the Camera Shop on the square in Jacksonville. Mr. Hammond served in the United States Army, Signal Corps during World War II. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grade School in Jacksonville, the predecessor to Our Saviour School; and Routt Catholic High School. He was a member of the Church of Our Saviour. Mr. Hammond enjoyed photography and cameras, collecting and repairing clocks and electronic equipment, and gardening.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends following the service at the Jacksonville Knights of Columbus Hall. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Earnest L. "Ernie" Hammond
Earnest L. “Ernie” Hammond, age 75, of White Hall, died early
Wednesday morning, March 27, 2002 at Capitol Care Center in Springfield.
He was born July 31, 1926 in Winchester, the son of Charles E. and
Goldie Kite Hammond.
He is survived by four sisters, Ida Mae (husband, Ivan) Gregory of
Winchester; Betty McClure of Winchester; Virginia Ratliff of Winchester
and Jane Rimbey of White Hall; three brothers, Robert (wife, Madelyn)
Hammon of White Hall; Billy (wife, Sherry) Hammon of Alton and James
(wife, Betty) Hammond of Clarksville, Tennessee; numerous nieces and
nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one
brother, Edward Junior Hammond during WW II and three sisters, Ada Ruth
Green , Lucille Sandman and Helen Gregory.
Mr. Hammond served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the
USS Doran. He then served during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force.
He was awarded numerous medals and awards for his service to his country.
He attended Shutleff College in Alton and taught school at country
schools in the Hillview area.
He worked for the State of Illinois at Springfield, Carlinville and
Carrollton for the Department of Public Aid, retiring in 1992. He later
drove the Senior Citizens van at Carrollton where he retired June, 2001.
He participated in the Senior Olympics for 20 years, receiving many
medals, trophies, ribbons and plaques. He attended the Masters Senior
Olympics in Florida in 1999.
He was currently serving as an elected alderman for the City of White
Hall.
He was an avid North Green e sports fan. He was a member of the
VFW Post 7684 in White Hall and the American Legion in Winchester.
A private committal will be held. Memorials are suggested to the
North Green e Athletic Department or the Green e County Senior Citizens
Center in Carrollton and will be accepted at the Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in White Hall who is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leona Marie Hansen (Horney)
Leona Marie Hansen, age 73, of White Hall, died Monday afternoon,
July 8, 2002 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Green view, the daughter of David
Frederick and Hazel May Hartley Horney.
She married Leon Stanley Hansen, Sr. on Aug. 1, 1954 in White Hall
and he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Leon S. (wife, Cheryl) Hansen, Jr. of
South Roxanna and Lowell T. (wife, Valerie) Hansen of Silver Dale,
Washington; one daughter, Amber Shai (husband, Andrew) Smith of
Jacksonville; five grandchildren; one great grandson and one sister, Celia
Crist of Pineville, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by one brother,
David F. Horney, Jr. and one sister, Darlene Cherry.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Souls Harbor Church in Roodhouse.
She worked at the Western Cartridge Company for several years and at the
cut and sash plant in Roodhouse. She also drove a school bus for the North
Green e School District and worked at Mobil Chemical for 15 years, retiring
in 1992. She loved auctions and yard sales, and was a friend to everyone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002 at the
Souls Harbor Church in Roodhouse with burial at the White Hall Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Memorials are suggested to
Souls Harbor Church.

Mr. Clarence J. "C.J." Hardwick
Clarence J. “C.J.” Hardwick, age 82, of Hillview, died Friday evening, Oct. 11, 2002 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born Nov. 28, 1919 near Hillview, the son of John William and Nellie Ann Badman Hardwick. He married Betty Bickmore on Oct. 14, 1950 in White Hall and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Alan Hardwick of Chapin and Mike Hardwick of Hillview; one daughter, Linda Gardner of Milan; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Dewey Hardwick of White Hall and two sisters, Cecile Atwood of Murrayville and Verdelia Inman of White Hall. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Flatt and Dolly Hardwick and four brothers, Robert Hardwick, Oscar Hardwick, Howard “Shotgun” Hardwick and Ebert Hardwick. Mr. Hardwick began Hardwick Trucking in 1939 and maintained a life long interest and participation for the entire 63 years the company has been in business. He was a member of the Midwest Truckers Association. He always participated in and enjoyed Green e County Days where he loved driving a team of horses. His hobbies were his animals and he enjoyed sharing them with children. He also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and was an avid sale barn attendee. He enjoyed visiting with people and was well known throughout the area. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Lucille Hardwick (Garrison)
Lucille Hardwick, 80, of Carrollton died at 11:30 P.M. on Sunday April 14,
2002 at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
Born in Green e Co. on Oct. 10, 1921 she was the daughter of the late George and Erma Varble Garrison. In 1940 she married James Hardwick in Missouri and he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1970.
Surviving are 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Keith and Sylvia Hardwick of Jerseyville, John and Karen Hardwick of Canton, Mo., Bob and Marilyn Hardwick of Jerseyville, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers:
Paul Garrison of Jacksonville, Raymond Garrison of Carrollton and Leroy Garrison of Carrollton. She was preceded in death by an infant son: Jimmy
Hardwick Jr., 2 sisters: Alma Welhausen and Virginia Parker and infant twin siblings: Ruth and Robert Hardwick.
Lucille was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Carrollton, the Social Committee of the Church, the Green e Co. Senior Citizens, and the Friendly Neighbor Card Club.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Wednesday at 10 A.M. Burial will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Green e Co. Senior Citizens.

Mildred L. Hardy (Shepherd)
Mildred L. Hardy, 95, of Winchester passed away Sunday morning (September 29, 2002) at the Scott County Nursing Center. She was born March 27, 1907 near Winchester the daughter of the late John C. and Tamsy Evans Shepherd. She married Clarence L. Hardy April 24, 1928 in Winchester. He preceded her in death December 2, 1941. Also preceding her was her twin sister Mabel Simmons, sister Eileen Harditer and 2 brothers Clarence and Ray Shepherd. Mrs. Hardy attended Sandridge country school. She was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved to quilt, garden and be with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Joan (husband Don) Howard of Winchester, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. 3 sisters Mary Day, Anabell Shepherd of Winchester and Grace (husband Clarence) Little of Patterson, and a brother Russell (wife Edna) Shepherd of Winchester. As well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday (October 2, 2002) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Mr. Donald Foster Harland
Donald Foster Harland, age 81, of Olympia Fields, died Tuesday,
Feb. 19, 2002 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Rio.
He married Mary Eldred on Sept. 7, 1957 in Carrollton and she
survives.
He is also survived by one son, John (wife, Jacquie) Harland of
Naperville; two daughters, Susan (husband, James) Corbet of Palos Heights
and Helen (husband, Ron) Bell of Westchester; nine grandchildren; and four
sisters, Mary Norberg, Dorothy Ericson, Althea Schultz and Phyllis Partyka.
Mr. Harland retired from Amoco Oil Co. in 1984 after 35 years of
service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II in the
South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Flossmoor Community
Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002
at the Carrollton City Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until
time of services Saturday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Willa Jane Harp (Lewis)
Willa Jane Harp, age 75, of Roodhouse, died early Monday morning,
Feb. 25, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born April 8, 1926 in Roodhouse, the daughter of Lee and
Hattie Griffin Lewis.
She married O.D. Harp on Aug. 18, 1946 in Roodhouse and he
preceded her in death on June 8, 1990.
She is survived by one daughter, Jan (husband, Bill) Settles of
Wapella; one son, Doug (wife, Brenda) Harp of Jacksonville; four
grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Phil) Maxwell of Clinton; Sarah Settles
of Decatur; Christopher and Matthew Harp, both of Jacksonville and three
great grandchildren, Connor, Katelyn and Claire. She was preceded in
death by one granddaughter, Rebekkah Settles; two brothers, John Robert
and William Gene Lewis.
Mrs. Harp was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roodhouse.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at the
Manchester Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Roodhouse
First Baptist Church or St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

Mrs. Eva Josephine Harvey (Mullen)
Eva Josephine Harvey, 86, of Jacksonville died Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born February 7, 1916 in Modesto the daughter of Thomas and Agnes Guthrie Mullen. She married Floyd Harvey on April 24, 1935 in Peoria and he preceded her in death in April of 1970. She is survived by two sons, Gary D. (wife, Phyllis) Harvey of Decatur and Kenneth D. (wife, Judith) Harvey of Girard; one daughter, Glenda (husband, Jack) McNeece of Jacksonville; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two brothers, Dale (wife, Betty) Mullen of Auburn and Dean (wife, Sherdell) Mullen of Arkansas and one sister, Velma Mullen of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Chester Mullen, Pat Mullen, Coy (surviving wife, Jean of Moline) Mullen and Carl (surviving wife, Nadine of Jacksonville) Mullen and 4 sisters, Pearl Reese, Mabel Woods, Clara Mullen and Goldie Mullen. Mrs. Harvey was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of Central Christian Church in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Waverly East Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12 noon until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church.

Mrs. Helen V. Hawkins (Egbers)
Helen V. Egbers Dunlap Hawkins, 87, of Waverly, Illinois, formerly of Payson and Quincy, died Saturday, May18, 2002 at St. John's Hospice. She was born on June 26, 1914 in Warsaw, Illinois, the daughter of John Warren and Edith Campbell Egbers. She married Alan "Dutch" D. Dunlap on September 1, 1935 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 1970. She later married Sam Hawkins on June 18, June 18, 1970, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1990.
She is survived by one step-daughter, Hilma L. Hawkins of Springfield; two brothers, Harold (wife, Mildred) Egbers of Towanda and Jack (wife, Lynda) Egbers of Arlington, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John K. (surviving wife, Mary) Egbers of Quincy and Roger Egbers.
Mrs. Hawkins had been employed as a secretary for the Electric Wheel Company in Quincy, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Illinois Department of Public Health, both in Springfield, Illinois, from which she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Waverly First Baptist Church. Mrs.Hawkins was also very active in the Waverly Senior Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Waverly First Baptist Church . Graveside committal wil be at 3pm in Payson New Cemetery in Payson, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly First Baptist Church or St. John's Hospice. The Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bernice Beeley Hayes (Quinlan)
Bernice Beeley Hayes Bernice Beeley Hayes, 88, of Jacksonville, died early Wednesday morning, December 11, 2002, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville. She was born on March 9, 1914 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Lawrence P. and Josephine Boland Quinlan. She married Glenn E. Beeley on January 20, 1934 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1949. She later married James Delbert “Deb” Hayes on August 2, 1980 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1995. She is survived by two sons, Don (wife, Rose Marie) Beeley and Larry (wife, Linda) Beeley, both of Jacksonville; one daughter, Glenda (husband, Lloyd) Callahan of Chatham; two step-sons, Jim (wife, Linda) Hayes and Bob (wife, Eileen) Hayes, both of Jacksonville; twelve grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Virginia Hayes; one granddaughter, Dana Beeley, and one brother, Lawrence J. “Bud” Quinlan, (surviving wife Helen of Jacksonville.) Mrs. Hayes worked as a bookkeeper at Allied Motors for 15 years and was later a dispatcher for the Jacksonville Police Department for 10 years. Mrs. Hayes was a 1933 graduate of Routt College High School, and a member of the Church of Our Saviour. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing bingo and reading. As a devoted grandmother, her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the Church of Our Saviour, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends following a 4:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School or the Church of Our Saviour.
