Mrs. Meredith C. Hays (Cooley)
Meredith C. Hays, age 82, of the Sunset Home in Quincy, Ill. and formerly of Baylis, Ill. died Saturday evening (May 11, 2002) at the Sunset Home.
She was born December 24, 1919 in Barry, Ill. daughter of the late Floyd and Maud Bimson Cooley.
Surviving is one daughter, Virginia Kieslar and husband George of Liberty, Ill.; one granddaughter, Laura Yeakey and husband of Quincy, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Niki, Jo-Anna, Alex and Joshua Yeakey all of Quincy, Ill.; two sisters, Elizabeth White and husband Dale of Perry, Ill. and Waunetta Ingram of Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Harold Cooley of Perry, Ill. and Kenneth Cooley of Barry, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Berniece Dougherty, Lauretta Hyde; and four brothers, Eugene, Bernard, Sylber, Floyd Elvin Cooley.
Mrs. Hays was a former employee of International Shoe in Quincy, Ill. and recently was self-employed and took care of the elderly in their homes for seventeen years.
She was a member of the Fishhook UB Church in Fishook, Ill. and enjoyed embroidery, quilting and flower gardening.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (May 15, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Gary Doughtery and Rev. Mark Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery near Fishhook, Ill. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to an educational fund for her great-grandchildren c/o the funeral home.
Mrs. Lila Lee Hazel (Lawson)
Lila Lee Hazel, 64, of Jacksonville died Thursday morning, August 23, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born March 6, 1938 in Jacksonville the daughter of Jesse and Eunice Smith Lawson. She married Donald F. Hazel and he preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Brian (wife, Brenda) Hazel of Franklin; Timothy Hazel of Jefferson Barracks, Missouri and Kelly Hazel of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren and two sisters, Donna (husband, Howard) McGlasson of Versailles and Elaine (husband, John) Banks of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Allen and one brother, Jesse Lawson, Jr. Mrs. Hazel had owned and operated the Todd Apartments in Jacksonville. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Madeline Heath (Dempsey)
Madeline Heath, 91, of Carrollton died on Tues. Jan. 29, 2002 at 4:16
A.M. at the Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Shawneetown, Ill. on April 7, 1910 she was the daughter of the
late William “Dub” and Emily Head Dempsey.
She first married Floyd Lampert and they were divorced. She later
married William Heath on Dec. 22, 1938 in Morganfield, Ky. and he
preceded her in death on June 13, 1977. Surviving are 2 sons: Bill (wife
Jane) Heath of Alton, Floyd E. Lampert of Ripley, Tenn., 7 grandchildren:
Tommy Stilwell, Cheryl Martin, Boyd Lee Harpole, James Harpole, Edward
Lampert, JoEllen Lampert, Pam Lampert, 8 great grandchildren, a brother
Bill Dempsey of Rosewood Heights, and a sister Fannie Brazier of
Shawneetown. She was preceded in death by a daughter Wilma Harpole
Ellison, 2 grandchildren: Danny Lampert and an infant, a sister Maurie Kelly
and a brother Bob Dempsey.
Mrs. Heath had worked at Lutheran School in South St. Louis for many
years and attended the Carrollton Assembly of God Church.
Graveside rites will be held on Friday at 11 A.M. at the Carrollton City
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the William B. BeDell Resource
Center in Woodriver or the 5 A’s Animal Shelter. Airsman-Hires Funeral

Rev. LeRoy Hedrick
Rev. LeRoy Hedrick, 77, of Jacksonville, died Sunday evening, September 15, 2002 at his residence. He was born on May 3, 1925 in Beardstown, the son of George W. and Maude Mae Craig Hedrick. He married Mary F. Moran on May 18, 1947, and she preceded him in death on August 29 of this year. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Sue (husband, James A.) Hayes of Jacksonville and Beth Ann (husband, Richard) Ford of Rushville; three grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Hedrick Little of Quincy. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola Little Stockton, Dorothy Orr, and Clarice Hedrick; and three brothers, Ozie Earl Hedrick, Virgil Hedrick, and Hubert Hedrick. Rev. Hedrick was the founding Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where he served for 33years. He built the church both spiritually and physically, leading the church through three building campaigns. He also served as Assistant Chaplain at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. Rev. Hedrick has served Southern Baptist Churches in Chanderville and Cooperstown, and during his “retirement,” was serving churches in Murrayville and Glasgow. He organized the successful evangelistic campaign, “People Sharing Jesus,” while serving the Glasgow congregation, and was currently organizing the Greater Jacksonville Areawide Inter-Faith Crusade to be held in October. Rev. Hedrick’s music ministry touched many lives as he led the music in revivals in the Jacksonville area, conducted nursing home visits, and sang and preached at countless funerals. He recorded “The Story of Man” album in the early 1970’s, accompanied by his friend, pianist Lewis Brown. Rev. Hedrick was a 1944 graduate of Beardstown High School, a 1982 graduate of Boyce Bible School at Louisville, Kentucky; and a graduate of the SIU School of Medicine C.E.P.C. Program. He served in the United States Army in the Phillipines during World War II. Throughout his life, Rev. Hedrick held many jobs, including concrete worker, construction worker, and railroad worker. He owned and operated a meat locker in Beardstown and was a meat cutter for A & P, IGA, and North Jacksonville Foods. As recently as the Spring of 2002, he helped the Amish Community learn to cut meat the “English” way. Rev. Hedrick’s hobbies included woodworking and flower gardening. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Sandy Creek Baptist Youth Camp, Lake Springfield Baptist Camp, or the Passavant Volunteer Health Clinic.
Mrs. Mary F. Hedrick (Moran)
Mary F. Hedrick, 73, of South Jacksonville, died Thursday evening, August 29, 2002 at her residence. She was born on September 21, 1928 at Buckhorn, Brown County, the daughter of Herbert Gerald and Helen Wagner Moran. She married LeRoy Hedrick on May 18, 1947 in Beardstown, and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Beth (husband, Richard) Ford of Rushville and Janet (husband, James) Hayes of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Adam Ford, Stacey (fiancé, Joshua Adams) Ford, and Sean Hayes; one brother, David (wife, Janice) Moran of Beardstown; and six sisters, Jerry Bresnahan, Betty (husband, Jack) Kennedy, Doris Quinn, and Brenda Hamann, all of Beardstown, Beverly (husband, Bob) Booth of Mt. Sterling, and Karen (husband, Randy) Scheer of Ashland. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Moran and Donnie Moran (surviving wife Ardeth Gail of Beardstown.) Mrs. Hedrick was a full-time pastor’s wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. As pastor’s wife, she assisted her husband in his ministries, including the founding and building of Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was active in all aspects of the “behind the scenes” church work and served as church secretary for several years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed decorating and maintaining a meticulous home, and cooking for her children, grandchildren, and their families. She enjoyed reading and sports, especially baseball, and was an honest, trustworthy friend to many. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery at Beardstown. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Passavant Hospital Chaplain’s Assistance Fund, Triopia Jr.-Sr. High School Honors Reading Program, or the Hollenback Scholarship at Rushville State Bank, to benefit learning disabled readers.
Mrs Lola Dell Hembrough (Childers)
Lola Dell Hembrough, 90, of Beardstown, Illinois, formerly of Franklin, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2002 at Heritage Manor in Beardstown. She was born September 7, 1912 in Clay County, Illinois, a daughter of Perry and Mary E. Atchason Childers. She married Richard Harvey “Richie” Hembrough on July 18, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1979. Surviving are two sons: Robert Eugene “Bob”( wife Sue) Hembrough of Beardstown, IL and Richard Allen “Dickie” (wife Bonnie) Hembrough of Sterling City, California; three granddaughters: Shalyn Hembrough Shull of Decatur, IL; Marina Hembrough Kramer of Indianapolis, Ind.; Launa Hembrough Roberts of Edgewood, Maryland; one grandson: Shaune (wife Misty) Hembrough of Terrell, Texas, one sister: Louise Childers Chatfield of Bonita Springs, Florida. and one brother: Henry “Skip” Childers of Bonita Springs, Florida. She was preceded in death by one son Richard Wayne Hembrough, one grandson Richard Eugene Hembrough, four brothers: Warren, James, Russell, and Raymond Childers; and three sisters: Irene McGee, Dorothy Raichard, and Mary Herman. She worked in the Dietary Department of the Jacksonville State Hospital, retiring after twenty years. She was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 15, 2002 in Neece Funeral Home in Franklin, Illinois with burial in Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be following the funeral at the home of Bob and Sue Hembrough at 316 West 8th Street in Beardstown. Mrs. Nancy Lee Hembrough (Terwische)
Nancy Lee Hembrough, 49, of Jacksonville died Thursday, June 13, 2002 at home. She was born July 13, 1952 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Earl and Frances Gallemore Terwische. She married John Hembrough March 19, 1983 and he survives. Nancy is survived by her mother, Frances Terwische of Jacksonville; two step-sons, Steven (wife, Katie) Hembrough of Jacksonville and Scott Hembrough of Longview, Texas; seven grandchildren; one brother, Earl (wife, Linda) Terwische, Jr. of Taylorville; three sisters, Carol Scott of Chicago, Judy (husband, Jackie) Wilkens of Tyler, Texas, and Donna Blomker of Bedford, Texas; ten nephews and eleven nieces. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Earl Terwische and one nephew, Phillip McClanahan. Nancy was a graduate of Routt Catholic High School and Illinois College. Nancy worked several years as a Commercial Lines Underwriter for Aetna and RLI. Nancy enjoyed many hobbies, including cultivating beautiful flower gardens. Along with her husband, Nancy was an avid traveler and has many friends throughout the United States and Canada. Nancy was a member of the Church of Our Saviour, the Cursillo community, and Illinois College Alumni Association. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2002 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 4:30 prayer service, until 8 p.m. The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Virginia Eileen Hendrickson (Hutton)
Virginia Eileen Hendrickson, age 69, of White Hall, died Saturday
May 4, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born October 13, 1932 in White Hall, the daughter of Roy
and Pearl Herron Hutton.
She married James W. Hendrickson July 21, 1950 at White Hall and
he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Deborah Proffer of Roodhouse
and Marla (husband, Raymond) Daniels of White Hall; one son, Terry Don
(wife, Teresa) Hendrickson of White Hall; seven grandchildren, five great
grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Camerer of White Hall, and DeLoris
(husband, Charles) Strebel of Security, Colorado; and one brother Robert
Hutton of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by one son, Leonard Roy
Hendrickson, one sister, Kathy Willis and one brother in infancy.
Mrs. Hendrickson was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist
Church in White Hall and was a member of the Womens Missions Union.
She worked at the dress factory in White Hall from 1972 to 1983.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002
at the Calvary Baptist Church in White Hall with burial at the Pine Tree
Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Martha Helen Henneberg (Taylor)
Martha Helen Henneberg, age 78, of White Hall, died Thursday
evening, Jan. 31, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born May 3, 1923 in Carrollton, the daughter of William S.
and Abby Pointer Taylor.
She married Kenneth Henneberg on June 7, 1941 in St. Louis,
Missouri and he survives.
She is also survived by one sister, Inez Patterson of Chatham; one
brother, Robert E. Taylor of Heathsville, Virginia and several nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Taylor and two
sisters, Doris Retherford and Mildred Meyer.
Mrs. Henneberg was a member of the Women of the Moose in
Jerseyville for many years and enjoyed her Canasta Club in White Hall. She
and her husband farmed in Green e County for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002 at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at Providence
Cemetery east of Carrollton. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00
p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the
Providence Cemetery.
Mr. Kenneth H. Henneberg
Kenneth H. Henneberg, age 87, of White Hall, died Saturday evening, Dec. 21, 2002 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall. He was born Aug. 9, 1915 near Rockbridge, the son of Thomas and Toy Lena Ashford Henneberg. He married Martha Helen Taylor on June 7, 1941 in University City, Missouri and she preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2002. He is survived by three nephews, Bob (wife, Edith) Henneberg of White Hall; Wilbur (wife, Wynona) Henneberg of Mackinaw and Bill (wife, Sandra) Henneberg of Acworth, Georgia; one niece, Margaret Wald of Carrollton; a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Pat Taylor of Heathsville, Virginia and Inez Patterson of Chatham. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Ross and Gilbert "Gib" Henneberg; an infant sister, Marie Henneberg; and two nieces, Suzanne Henneberg and Shirley Dublo. Mr. Henneberg farmed in the Green e County area his entire life. He was a member of the Jerseyville Moose Lodge since 1957 and the Green e County Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial at Providence Cemetery east of Carrollton. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Mr. Donald Eugene Henson
Donald Eugene Henson, age 75, of Palmyra, died Monday evening, Aug. 5, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Jan. 13, 1927 in Walkerville, the son of William Newton and Mary Ruth Inman Henson. He is survived by five brothers, Charles and Orville Henson, both of Carrollton; Melvin Henson of White Hall; Tom Henson of Palmyra and Harvey Henson of Hull; three sisters, Faye Snider of White Hall; Dorothy Bridges of Palmyra and Grace Sloan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Rice and Albert May Anderson; and one brother, Kenneth Russell Henson. Mr. Henson was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Guam. He worked at Duncan's Foundry for 27 years, retiring in 1966. He later worked for several farmers in the area. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 at the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall.
Mrs. Imogene Hiatt (James)
Imogene James Hiatt, age 91 of White Hall, died Saturday August 3, 2002 at the White Hall Multi Care Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1910 in Glasgow, the daughter of Roy C. and Ida Gauges James. She married Arthur Hiatt March 4, 1936 in rural White Hall and he survives. She is also survived by one son James A. (wife Victoria) Hiatt of Alton, and one daughter Esther (husband Harold) Jefferson of Alsey. There are four grandchildren, Brad (wife Phyllis) Jefferson of Winchester, Duane (wife Vicki) Jefferson of Winchester, L. Page (husband Steve) Selby of Godfrey, and Melissa (husband Brian) Schmitz of Chicago, and nine great grandchildren. There are four sisters surviving, Viola Prindle of Roodhouse, Dorothy Akers of Patterson, Amelia Schutz of White Hall, and Mrs Jack (Carmelene) Pinkerton of White Hall. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Hanback. Mrs Hiatt worked at Twin Cities Manufacturing in Roodhouse for twenty one years, retiring in 1976. She and her husband farmed in the Patterson and Glasgow area for 35 years when they retired and moved to White Hall. She was a member of the Wilmington Baptist Church in Patterson for 50 years. She was also a member of the International Garment Workers Union for 20 years. Mrs. Hiatt loved spending time with her family. She was well known for her country style cooking, flower and vegetable gardening and crocheting. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at the Wilmington Baptist Church in Patterson. Friends may call after 4 P.M. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Interment will be at Bowers Cemetery near Alsey. Memorials are suggested to the Wilmington Baptist Church or the Home Health Services of the Green e County Health Department.
Mrs. Ellen J. Hibbard (Reinders)
Ellen J. Hibbard, age 79, of Baylis, Ill. died Tuesday morning (January 15, 2002) at her daughter’s residence in rural Griggsville, Ill..
She was born October 24, 1922 in Athens, Ill. daughter of the late Rudy and Selma Rosendahl Reinders.
She married Donald Hibbard on March 16, 1946 in Petersburg, Ill. and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Donna) Moore of Griggsville, Ill. and Mrs. Gary (Diane Jeanette) Lupton of DeKalb, Ill.; two sons, Dwayne “Butch” Hibbard and wife Janice of Griggsville, Ill. and Roy Hibbard and wife Pollie of Muncie, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Reinders of Perrysburg, Ohio; and one nephew, David Reinders of Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
Mrs. Hibbard graduated in Petersburg High School in Petersburg, Ill. attending nursing school in Hannibal, Mo. graduating in 1966. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in various hospitals and nursing homes throughout the area. She was a very active member of the Baylis United Methodist Church and was past president of the Baylis/Fishhook United Methodist Women as well as holding several chairs in the church. She was also a member of the Pike County Home Extension and the Domestic Science Club in Baylis, Ill.. She loved to travel and visiting with family and friends, and spending winters in Florida.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday (January 19, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Dorothy Fellhauer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Quincy, Ill.. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Baylis United Methodist Church.
James Royal "Doc" Hillis
James Royal Hillis, 89, of Carrollton passed from this world on Dec. 8, 2002 at 5 P.M. in Carrollton, Ill. After a long struggle with pain he passed into eternity to be with his Savior. The son of Stella Mae Crum Hillis and Frank Russell Hillis, he was born Jan. 30, 1913 in Green e Co., Ill. He married the former Helen Berniece Ray of Kane near Berdan in 1936. She preceded him in death in 1996. Royal, better known as “Doc” was well known for his love of music and the talent he possessed to make stringed instruments sing. He played many stringed instruments as well as harmonic and piano. But his real passion was for the fiddle and mandolin. He loved to bring joy to others with his talents. Doc retired from Olin Matheson after 30 years of service. He began working there just befor WWII in the Powder Mill where he carried kegs of poweder. Later he was transferred to the Power Plant where he made many great friends. He is survived by 4 sons and three daughters in law, also six daughters and four sons in law: Billie and Leona Hillis of Otterville, Frances and Bill Coonrod of Carrollton, Mary Sue and Harold Holmes of Carrollton and Janet and Lyndell Ornellas of Carrollton, Royala Ann Ornellas of Lawrenceberg, Ind., Delbert Hillis of Roodhouse, Kathy and Lavern Crull of Taylorville, Barbra Stephens of Waverly, Terry and Pam Hillis of White Hall and Garry and Virginia Hillis of Berdan. There are 39 grand, 54 great grand and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a child Sherrill Lynn and 2 brothers Russell and Harold and 2 sisters Anna Crater and Grace Lemons. Before his illness he loved to chat with people and never met a stranger. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wed. at the Carrollton Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will be held at the church on Thurs. at 11 A.M. with burial to follow in Belltown Cemetery in Belltown. Memorails may be made to the Boyd Memorial Hospital or Reisch Nursing Home. Mr. Byron Holkenbrink
Byron Holkenbrink, 98, of Jacksonville, died Friday evening, April 26, 2002, at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. He was born on November 30, 1903, in Jacksonville the son of Benjamin and Rosetta Summers Holkenbrink. He married Vivian Boston on April 1, 1925 in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on February 4, 1989.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Russell H. (wife, Lorene) Walton of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Walton.
Mr. Holkenbrink attended local public schools, Marquette University and Hardin Brown Business College. He worked for many years in the grocery business, first managing Piggly Wiggly stores in Springfield and Decatur, and later as owner of a neighborhood grocery store on the corner of East College and Hardin until 1963. In 1959, he became Chief of the Jacksonville Fire Department and in 1963 was elected the first full-time Mayor of Jacksonville. He served as Mayor for seven years. He later served as Executive Director of the United Way of Morgan County, the Illinois Law Enforcement Commission, and the Department of Urban Renewal in Jacksonville. On the state level, he served as President of the Illinois Mayors Association and Chairman of the Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officer Board.
Forever active in the Jacksonville community, Mr. Holkenbrink had served as Director and Vice President of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club, and was a member of the Fire and Police Commission and the Jacksonville Industrial Corporation. He was Chairman of the Barton W. Stone Christian Home Fund Drive and transported patients to Springfield for treatment for the American Cancer Society. He served as Chairman of the Elm City Rehabilitation Center and Treasurer of the Visiting Nurses Association. He was President of the local chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and worked with state and national legislative commissions. He was a longtime volunteer at Passavant Area Hospital and a member of Central Christian Church. Mr. Holkenbrink’s remains are being donated to science.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2002 at Central Christian Church in Jacksonville. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Barton W. Stone Christian Home. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Betty Lou Holmes
Betty Lou Holmes, age 75, of Montebello Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton, Ill. and formerly of Pittsfield, Ill. died 8:00 a.m. Thursday (March 14, 2002) at the nursing home.
She was born October 4, 1926 in Pittsfield, Ill. daughter of the late William and Opal St. John Holmes.
Surviving is her sister, Mary Clostermery and husband B.L. of Griggsville, Ill.; two nephews, Gib Clostermery of Athens, Ill. and Bret Clostermery of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; three great-nephews, Michael Clostermery of Athens, Ill., and Bryce and Reese Clostermery both of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; and two great-nieces, Kelli and Shaelyn Clostermery both of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Miss Holmes attended Pittsfield Community High School and was a member of the Pittsfield First Baptist Church. Following the death of her parents, she spent a number of years at Hancock Shelter Care in Augusta, Ill. prior to making her home in Hamilton, Ill.
Private funeral services will be held Friday at Pittsfield West Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Will officiating. Memorials may be made to the Pittsfield First Baptist Church. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.
