Helen E. Meek (Koster)
Helen Meek, 92, of Sun City, Ariz. died on Sun. May 26, 2002 in Arizona. born on Aug. 18, 1909 she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Siemer Koster.
She married Robert C. Meek Sr. on Nov. 26, 1936 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1973.
Surviving are a daughter: Sandra Daly Meek of Lansing, Mich., 2 sons: Robert C. (wife Alice) Meek Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald (wife Jandie) Meek of Durango, Colo. 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and a sister Elizabeth Ballard of White Hall.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Margaret Geers and Regina Koster, and 2 brothers: Lawrence and Bill Koster.
She was, along with her husband, the former owner/operator of the A&W Restaurant in Carrollton for many years. She was a 50 year member of the CD of A , St. John's Catholic Church and later St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Arizona. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Airsman-Hires Fuenral Home in Carrollton. Funeral Mass will be at 10 A.M. on Friday at St. John's Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Memorials are to the Priests of the Sacred Heart and for Mass.

Mr. Raymond W. Menge Sr.
Raymond W. Menge, Sr., 89, of rural Jacksonville died Thursday morning, February 21, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born August 3, 1912 near Jacksonville, the son of William and Edith Buck Menge. He married Freda Gibson on November 19, 1935 and she preceded him in death on December 14, 1977.
He is survived by three sons, Raymond "Butch" (wife, Judy) Menge, Jr. of Roodhouse, Donald (wife, Cathy) Menge of South Jacksonville and Robert (wife, Linda) Menge of Emmett, Idaho; two daughters, Carol Daly of Jacksonville and Sharon (husband, Charles) Pine of Bluffs; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Menge Hembrough.
Mr. Menge farmed his entire life northwest of Jacksonville and also worked for the Operating Engineers Local #965 from which he retired in 1977. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 26 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, north of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Mrs Inez Mercer (Doles)
Inez Mercer 69, of Palmyra, IL. died Sunday, November 10, 2002 in St.John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born July 14, 1933 in Ramer, Tennessee, a daughter of Grover Cleveland and Eliza Louisia Bell Floyd Doles. She married Elmer Ray Mercer on March 10, 1952 in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Surviving are two sons: Joseph Andrew (wife Tammy) Mercer of Springfield, Dale (wife Janet) Mercer of Clearwater, Florida, eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, parents, one son Floyd Mercer in 2000, one daughter Wanda Parkison in 2001, one brother Grover Cleveland Doles (surviving wife Lowell of Ramer, Tenn.), two sisters: Dessie Doles and Dottie Hitt (surviving husband Buford of Memphis, Tenn). She was a Nurses Aid in Weatherford Nursing Home, Joiner Nursing Home and University Manor Nursing Home, all in Carlinville, IL, and a member of Holly Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 10:am Thursday, November 14, 2002 in Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, IL. with visitation from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Hettick. IL. Memorials are suggested to The Mercer Family.

Mrs. Mildred "Mid" Meyer (Smith)
Mildred “Mid” Meyer, 84, of Jacksonville, died Sunday afternoon, September 22, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Jacksonville. She was born on June 28, 1918 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Allen C. and Josephine Hennessey Smith. She married Paul G. “Jack” Meyer on October 9, 1956 in Mississippi and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1975. She is survived by one daughter, Sue (husband, Kevin) Fairfield of Jacksonville; two granddaughters, Ashley and Katelyn; three sisters, Dorothy Ebrey of Jacksonville, Marjorie (husband, Jess) Proffitt of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Edith (husband, William) Rees of Franklin; two brothers, Allen (wife, Mary) Smith of New Berlin and Virgil (wife, Alice) Smith of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Smith. Mrs. Meyer owned and operated Mid’s Casual Wear and Beauty Salon in Jacksonville for over 40 years, and Mid’s in Carlinville for 10 years. In addition to her stores, she owned farms in Mississippi, Murrayville, and south of Jacksonville. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Mrs. Meyer was an avid card player. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service at the church. Lucy E. Mikus
Lucy E. Mikus, 82, of Springfield and formerly of Alsey passed away Saturday afternoon (October 12, 2002) at Heritage Manor in Springfield. She was born September 7, 1920 near Winchester the daughter of the late Willis D. and Pearly Adams McEvers. She married Earl J. Mikus February 9, 1945 in Winchester. He preceded her in death in 1950. Also preceding her were her 5 brothers Myrl, Earl, Johnnie, Harold and Roy McEvers, 4 sisters Wilmoth Todd, Mildred McEvers, Loeta McEvers and Ruby Bradshaw. Mrs. Mikus was a graduate of Alsey High School and Illinois State Teachers College where she earned her Teachers Certificate in 1941. She taught for several years at Milton, and then at the Winchester Elementary School until her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of the Alsey Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and also volunteered with Woodhaven Hospice in Jacksonville after her retirement. Surviving are her 3 sons Richard Mikus of Phoenix, Arizona, Glenn Mikus of Springfield and Michael Mikus of Chatham. 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday (October 16, 2002) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. Mrs. Margaret C. Miles (Dillon)
Margaret C. Miles, 84, of South Jacksonville, died Friday morning, November 8, 2002 at the home of her daughter in Normal. She was born on October 29, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth “Bessie” Keller Dillon. She married C. Raymond Miles on February 2, 1946 in East Newark, New Jersey, and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1990. She is survived by one son, Michael R. (wife, Beth) Miles of Jacksonville; one daughter, Patricia A. Miles of Normal; and four grandchildren, Lucas, Sara, Emily, and Molly. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Dillon and Richard Dillon, and one sister, Madelyn Brader. Mrs. Miles was employed in the catalog department at J.C. Penney in Jacksonville for over 25 years. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and the Birthday Club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at the Church of Our Saviour, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted at 4:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Miss Britnie Kay Miller
Britnie Kay Miller, age 4, the of daughter of Wayne Edward Miller and Dorma Lee (Grieder) Miller, of rural Hettick, Illinois, died January 25, 2002, at her home. She was born July, 27, 1997 in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She is survived by her her parents, Wayne Edward Miller and Dorma Lee (Grieder) Miller of Hettick, Illinois. Paternal grandparents, Russell Lee and Sherry Miller of Fletcher, North Carolina; and maternal grandparents Henry and Pauline Grieder of Scottville, Illinois. She is also survived by her 3 brothers; Shawn, Paul, and, Harold Leroy Miller, all residing with their parents.
Visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2002 from 6pm to 8pm at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, Illinois, with Private Graveside Services Tuesday, January 29, 2002. Burial will be in Scottville West Cemetery, in Scottville Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Margaret L. Milliken
Margaret L. Milliken, 95, of Winchester passed away Sunday night (May 26,2002) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born February 23, 1907 in Scott County the daughter of Ben T. and Pearl Hester Milliken.
She graduated from Winchester High School, the received her Bachelors in teaching from Western Illinois University and her Masters Degree from Northern Colorado State University. She taught school in Scott, Morgan, Sangamon and Macon Counties, her last 22 years at Roach Elementary School in Decatur.
She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Winchester, a charter and life member of the Scott County Historical Society. She also belonged to the Winchester day unit of Home Extension, the Winchester Women's Club and the Beta Pi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Her brother William Milliken of Winchester survives her.
Preceding her in death were her 3 sisters Veda, Aletha, and Helen Milliken.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Tuesday where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester EMS or to the Scott County Historical Society.

Mr. Raymond Eugene Milton
Raymond Eugene Milton, 77, of Jacksonville died Thursday morning, June 27, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on June 8, 1925 in Farmer City, the son of Clarence and Wilhelmina Hoesman Milton. He married Carolyn Morrell on August 7, 1945 in Panama City, Florida; and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Terry Eugene (wife, Deb) Milton of Clinton, Ronald Raymond (wife, Sandy) Milton of Jacksonville, and Dale Lee Milton of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Jerry (wife, Charlotte) Milton of Clinton, two sisters Betty (husband, Jack) Maxwell of Farmer City and Marylin (husband, Ray) Woolridge of Leroy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Mr. Milton was a construction supervisor and field engineer with General Telephone for 27 years. Following his retirement, he managed the Wareco Car Wash for several years. Mr. Milton, along with his wife, was instrumental in the founding of Pathway School in Jacksonville in 1963. He remained a constant supporter of the school through the years, as a board member for several terms, as president for two terms, and as a volunteer.
Mr. Milton raced go-carts with his sons, and later supported them in with their sprint car racing. A motorcycling enthusiast, Mr. Milton was a member of the 40 Plus Touring Club of Springfield and Honda Riders of Jacksonville. He and his wife enjoyed many motorcycling trips. Mr. Milton served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the First Christian Church in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. Mrs. Debra K. Minor (Horney)
Debra K. Minor, 46, of Virginia died Thursday evening, January 10, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on November 4, 1955 in White Hall the daughter of David F. and Myrtle Mercer Horney. She married Jerry Minor on January 28, 1976 in White Hall and he survives in Virginia.
She is also survived by two daughters, Rebecca (fiance, Brian Harris) Minor and Rachel Minor, both of Virginia; one son, J.T. Minor, Jr. of Virginia; one step-son, James T. Minor of Glasgow, Kentucky; her parents, David F. and Myrtle Horney of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol (husband, Steve) McNealy of Jacksonville, Becky Jones of San Jose, California, and Janet (husband, Warren) Smith of Jacksonville; three brothers, David F. “Fred” (wife, Susie) Horney, III of Hollywood, Florida, Dan Horney of Springfield, and Mike (wife, Lisa) Horney of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
This upcoming May would have marked 24 years of employment for Mrs. Minor at Pactiv in Jacksonville. She also worked part-time at Hucks in Jacksonville, and had earlier been a waitress at Sambo’s in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Virginia Jaycees and enjoyed the sun, water, and boating. She attended Harvest Temple United Pentecostal Church in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Virginia Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to her grandchildren’s education fund.

Miss Fay Alice Mitchell
Alice Fay Mitchell, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away on March 22, 2002 at the Age of 80. She was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Alice Gaskill Mitchell of St. Louis. She is survived by her dear friends: Bernice Koster, with whom she resided, the Manley Rice family of St. Louis County Missouri, the Edmund Prendeville family of Springfield, Illinois and many friends in the Green e County, Illinois area as well as the St. Louis area.
Miss Mitchell was a 1939 graduate of Soldan High School and attended St.Louis University. She was a 20 year employee of The Travelers Protective Association of America, with national headquarters in St. Louis, prior to which, she worked at the St. Louis Archdiocesan Chancery Office. She was a member of the Secular Fransiscan Order at St. Anthony’s Church in St. Louis; the Catholic Daughters of America; Green e County Historical Society and West End Reading Circle, all of Carrollton, Illinois.
The Funeral Mass for Miss Mitchell will be celebrated at 11:00 on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at St. John’s Church in Carrollton, Illinois with visitation also on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the Secular Fransiscan Order at St. Anthony’s Church in St. Louis; the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis; or to St. John the Evangelist Church in Carrollton.

Mrs. Marilyn Ruenna Mitchell
Marilyn Ruenna Mitchell, 61, of Franklin, died Sunday, April 14, 2002 in Memorial Hospital, in Springfield, IL. She was born October 24, 1940 in Pocahontas, Illinois, a daughter of Herman Sr. and Melba Elsie Clayton Nagel. She married George Merrill Mitchell on May 14,1966 and he survives of Franklin, IL.
Also surviving are two sons: Jeffrey L. (wife Betty) Mitchell of Girard, IL; Michael Shawn (wife Connie) Mitchell of Waverly, IL; two step sons: David (wife Elizabeth) Mitchell of Long Lane, Missouri, Steven (wife Julie) Mitchell of Casey, IL.; three brothers; Herman Jr.(wife Evelyn) of New Berlin, IL, Charles (wife Renna) Nagel of Waverly, IL, Russell (wife Kay) Nagel of Springfield, IL.; four sisters: Verla Adams, of Waverly, IL, Ruth Sheppard of New Berlin, IL, Donna (husband Harry) Long of Waverly, IL, Judy (husband David) Long of Waverly, IL, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Larry and Kenneth Nagel, and one sister, Linda, in infancy.
She was a seamstress for Midwest Linen Recovery in Franklin, IL.
A gathering of friends and family for the celebration of the life of Marilyn will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Russell Mixer
Russell Mixer, age 86, of Perry, Ill. died Saturday afternoon (November 16, 2002) at his residence in Perry, Ill.. He was born July 31, 1916 in Beverly Township, Adams County, Ill. son of the late James William and Mary Ethel Hastings Mixer. He married Mary Alice Mountain on December 10, 1947 in Pittsfield, Ill. and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Leta Fern Mixer and Letha Ruth Mixer who died in infancy and Goldie Bollinger; five half-sisters; five brothers, Daniel Mixer, George Mixer, Walter Mixer, William Mixer, and Cecil Mixer; and two half-brothers. Mr. Mixer farmed in Pike County, Ill. for many years retiring in 1981. He served in W.W. II in the U.S. Army, stationed in Australia and New Guinea and was a member of the Perry American Legion Post #1040. He delivered the noon meals for the Perry United Methodist Church every Monday. He was a member of the Pike County Farm Bureau and served on the township board for Fairmount Township. He loved to play cards. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (November 19, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Mark Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery near Fishhook, Ill.. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Helen Laverne Monroe, 74, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday evening, December 3, 2002, at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on November 9, 1928 in Bluffs, the daughter of Adolph and Matilda Nortrup Kaehlert. She married Everett Leroy Monroe on January 14, 1955 in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1997. She is survived by three daughters, Bonita (husband, Damon) Bartz of Franklin, Linda (husband, Robert) Dale of Carrollton, and Barbara (husband, Steve) Donovan of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren: Josh Wyrick, Sarah Clark, Chris Reif, Kyle Reif, Corey Reif, Jason Donovan, Michael Donovan, Anthony Dell, Christopher Keeney; one great-grandson, Jakob Donovan; one brother, Donald (wife, JoAnn) Kaehlert of Panama City, Florida; and three sisters, Bernita (husband, Robert) Bates of Georgia, Karen Kaehlert and Sharon (husband, Ron) Huntley, both of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Bullard, and one infant brother, Harry. Mrs. Monroe was a nurse’s aide at North American Healthcare Center in White Hall for 33 years. She retired in 1997 and moved to Jacksonville the following year. She was an avid walker and enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat, doing outdoor work, and watching old movies. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Trinity Cemetery at Neeleyville. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County Animal Shelter.

Mrs. Barbara J. Mowen (Newton)
Barbara J. Mowen, age 66, of Baylis, Ill. died Sunday evening (September 8, 2002) at her residence. She was born February 28, 1936 near Mt. Sterling, Ill. daughter of William G. and Florence M. Jones Newton. She married Harold R. Mowen on October 5, 1957 in Quincy, Ill. and he preceded her in death on August 9, 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Charlotte) Green of Beverly, Ill. and Mrs. Kevin (Rebecca) Bixler of Keller, Texas; two sons, Roger Mowen of Quincy, Ill. and Marvin Mowen and wife Jeanna of Fowler, Ill.; her mother, Florence Halsey of Paloma, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Heather, Melinda, Scott and Joshua Green all of Beverly, Ill., Keegan and Kelsey Bixler both of Keller, Texas , Jesse Nemecek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Brenden and Shane Mowen both of Fowler, Ill.; one great-grandson, Ricky Lish of Beverly, Ill.; one brother, William G. Newton II of Paloma, Ill.; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and husband. She was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Camp Point, Ill. and attended Quincy University in Quincy, Ill.. She was a past employee of Motorola in Quincy, Ill. and Brown Shoe in Pittsfield, Ill. and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Perry American Legion Auxiliary and the Barry Christian Church in Barry, Ill. She loved to do needlepoint and enjoyed reading and vegetable gardening. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 12, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Fishhook, Ill.. Mrs. Louise Mucci (Lowdermilk)
Louise Mucci, age 73, of White Hall, died Saturday morning, March
9, 2002 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
She was born Oct. 23, 1928 in Salem, the daughter of Louis and
Pearl McCartan Lowdermilk.
She married Ferdinand Mucci on Dec. 24, 1950 in Odin and he
survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Ann (husband, Roger)
Ferguson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary (husband, Henry) Gooday of
Phoenix, Arizona; one son, Mike (wife, Kathy) Mucci of Thomasboro;
and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Mucci was a member of the First Christian Church in White
Hall. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13,
2002 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the
White Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American
Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

Harold E. Mullink
Harold Edward Mullink, 70, of Carrollton died at 5:25 P.M. on Tuesday Aug. 13, 2002 at his residence. born on Feb. 25, 1932 in Bunker Hill, he was the son of the late Anton and Kathryn Sneeringer Mullink. He married the former Betty L. Scott on Dec. 15, 1955 in Bunker Hill and she survives. Also surviving are: 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Richard Roe of Forsyth, IL., Patty and Tom Bridgewater of Donnellson, IA., Donna and Alan “Dieter” Flatt of Carrollton, 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Michael Mullink of St. Louis and Greg and Robyn Mullink of Brighton. There are 10 grandchildren: Ryan (wife Donna) Roe, Amy , Nathan, and Erin Roe, Brad and Nick Bridgewater, Jenny and Jim Flatt and Grant and Marley Mullink, 1 great grandchild: Dylan Roe; 3 brothers Leonard (wife Billye), Tom (wife JoAnn) and Gene (wife Marie) all of Bunker Hill; 6 sisters: Lois Meehan, Rosalie Rhoads, Alice(husband Allen) Greeling, Jane (husband David) Diestelhorst all of Bunker Hill and Betty Scott and Ruth “Shorty” Beiermann both of Carrollton. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Jim and Frank Mullink. Mr. Mullink, along with his family, owned and operated the Oasis Restaurant in Carrollton for over 41 years, retiring in 1997. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in the Communications Unit. He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, playing cards and watching the Cardinals. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 P.M. Burial will be Saturday at 10 A.M. at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Hospice of Green e Co. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Vella Faye Piper Neal (Jackson)
Vella Faye Piper Neal, age 92, of Roodhouse, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 13, 2002 at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born Feb. 24, 1910 in Athensville, the daughter of Elijah M. and Effie L. Standefer Jackson. She married Sonian Piper on Dec. 16, 1933 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1957. She later married William C. Neal on Sept. 5, 1967 in White Hall and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1989. She is survived by three sons, Hal (wife, Judy) Piper of Roodhouse; Jerry (wife, Lois) Piper of Roodhouse and Ralph (wife, Mary) Piper of Pittsfield; one daughter, Karen (husband, Dan) Krueger of Naperville; one stepson, Stuart (wife, Charlene) Piper of St. Louis, Missouri; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, Ebert and Russell Jackson and two sisters, Vesta Damm and Leta Jackson. Mrs. Neal worked at the Jacksonville State Hospital as a technician for 20 years, retiring in 1980. She had attended the Roodhouse Christian Church and later the White Hall Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Jack Gollier Neal
Jack Gollier Neal, age 84, of White Hall, died Saturday evening, Feb.
9, 2002 at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1917 in Murrayville, the son of William and
Flossie Gollier Neal.
He married Marian Hudson on April 23, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri
and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia Hahn of White Hall
and Jacqueline (husband, Greg) Peipert of Brighton; two grandchildren,
Erin (husband, Lance) Greer of Valley Park, Missouri and Robert Hahn of
White Hall. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Berline and
Phyllis Coyle.
Mr. Neal was a World War II Army veteran serving in England and
was a member of the American Legion Post #70 in White Hall. He was
employed as a mechanic for 22 years at Black’s Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in
White Hall and later was engaged in farming in Hillview. He attended the
White Hall First Baptist Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf,
fishing and bowling.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002
at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the Jones
Cemetery east of White Hall. The family will meet friends from 4:00-8:00
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the White
Hall First Baptist Church.
