Mrs. Helen Lucille Wyatt (Alred)
Helen Lucille Wyatt, age 75, of White Hall, died Monday evening,
June 10, 2002 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born April 10, 1927 in Roodhouse, the daughter of Omar
Oscar and Ida Mae Burris Alred.
She married Grover L. “Joe” Wyatt on March 4, 1946 in Winchester
and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1982.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara (husband, Don) Hill of
Clearwater, Florida; Marilyn (husband, Jim) Randell of Green field; Frances
Jackson of Grand Island, Florida and Carla Phares of White Hall; two sons,
Gary Wyatt of Clearwater, Florida and Martin Joseph Wyatt of Grand Island,
Florida; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandson; and three brothers,
Russell Alred of White Hall, Bob Alred of Roodhouse and Paul Alred of
Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Henline and
Louise Heaton and one brother, Carl “Dimsey” Alred.
Mrs. Wyatt was a housewife and worked for many years as a waitress
in the area. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in
Roodhouse and a member of the White Hall VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002 at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery
near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday
at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Carol Lynn Wyatt (Pinkerton)
Carol Lynn Wyatt, age 65, of White Hall, died Tuesday evening, Jan.
22, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 18, 1936 in White Hall, the daughter of Ernest L.
and Helen Hiatt Pinkerton.
She married Lawrence R. Wyatt on Oct. 14, 1954 in White Hall and
he survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Alanna C. (husband, Charles
R.) Vinyard of White Hall; her mother, Helen McPherson of White Hall;
two grandchildren, Adam and Christine; and one brother, Robert S. (wife,
Patricia) Pinkerton of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her
father.
Mrs. Wyatt graduated from White Hall High School in 1954 and from
Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1972 and taught school in
southern Illinois for a short time. She worked for 25 years as a travel agent,
first for Tenholder Travel in Godfrey, then for many years at Blackhawk
Travel in Jacksonville and was currently working at World Travel in
Jacksonville. She was a past member and past president of the
Roodhouse-White Hall Junior Woman’s Club and was a member of the
GFWC Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs. She had sang with the North
Green e Singers. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in
White Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the White
Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the North Green e High
School Band Department.
Doris L. Yelm (Moss)
Doris L. Yelm, 90, of Winchester passed away early Wednesday morning (July 17, 2002) at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born March 15, 1912 in Meredosia the daughter of the late Lafe and Mabel Naylor Moss. She married D.L. Yelm in 1928 in Winchester. He preceded her in death February 15, 1974. Also preceding her in death was a daughter Betty Capps, a brother Harold Moss and a grandson Larry Capps.
Mrs. Yelm was a 1930 graduate of Meredosia High School. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Winchester. She was a homemaker and had worked as secretary for the Scott County Sheriff while her husband served in that office.
Survivors include her daughter Audrey (husband Bob) Winstead of Jacksonville, her son Chuck Yelm Sr. of Winchester, a sister Phyllis Fletcher of Winchester, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (July 20, 2002) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester EMS or to the Visiting Nurses.
Mr. Charles Robert "Bob" Young
Charles Robert “Bob” Young, age 63 of Carrollton, and formerly of Hillview, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall. He was born on March 26, 1939 in Walkerville Township the son of Clinton and Ruby Cox Young. He married Rita Rogers on February 21, 1959 at St. Louis Mo. and she survives. He is survived by his mother Ruby Young of White Hall. Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy (husband David) Pranger of Murrayville, and Rhonda (husband Dennis) Mintert of White Hall. Two grandchildren, Logan Scott Pranger and Tiffany Elizabeth Jean Pranger also survive. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1964. He worked as a mechanic at Adkins Auto, Blacks Chevrolet, and Moulton Implement in White Hall. He later became the maintenance engineer at Lucky Boy Bakery in Jacksonville. He farmed for most of his life, and was a heavy equipment operator, last working as a dragline operator and diesel mechanic for the Hillview Levee and Drainage District. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at the Airsman -Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Pine Tree Cemetery Association.
Thomas E. Yount
Thomas E. Yount, 76, of Roodhouse died on Saturday July 20, 2002 at his
residence.
Born in Kennett, Mo. on Dec. 31, 1925 he was the son of the late Omrey
and Avis T. Yount.
He married the former Bonnie D. Moore on Nov. 16, 1946 in
Pocahantas, Ark. and she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 1993.
Surviving are 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas and Nancy Yount
of Roodhouse and Edward and Gloria Yount of Tompall, Texas, 4
grandchidren, 4 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Eithel
Wallace of Granite City, Wanda Faulkner of Ocean City, Calif., 6 brothers:
Jess A. Yount of Arnold, Mo., Jim Yount of Mo., John Yount of England,
Frank Yount of Arizona, Larry Yount of Mo. and Jerry Yount of South
Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a step grandchild and a brother Gene
Yount.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was a certified meat cutter.
He had attended New Life Church in White Hall.
Visitation will be from 10 A.M. on Wednesday at Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton until 11 A.M. Graveside rites will follow the
visitation at approximately 11:15 A.M. at Eldred Memorial Gardens
Cemetery near Eldred. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Research or
New Life Church.

Mrs. Edith Maxine Zelmer (Smith)
E. Maxine Zelmer, 81, of Palmyra, Il. died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in her home in
Palmyra. She was born June 12, 1920 in Palmyra, a daughter of Luther and Lois (Coots) Smith.
She married Marion Frederick Zelmer on August 26, 1941. He preceded her in death on January
6, 1982.
Surviving are two sons: James (wife Shirley) Zelmer of Virden, IL:; Ronald Zelmer of
Modesto, IL, one daughter, Judith (husband Tom) Hatten of Spokane, Washington, two brothers:
Wyndal (wife Mary) Smith of Chesterfield, IL; John A (wife Minnie) Smith of Carlinville, IL; one
sister, Ruth McCaherty, of Palmyra, twelve Grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two
great great grandchildren and fourteen Nieces and Nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Paul Smith, one sister
Maribelle Stottler (husband Wayne Stottler of Farmersville, IL), and one niece Virginia Smith
Reed.
She was a member of Palmyra United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and
American Legion Auxillary Post # 1034 in Palmyra. She retired in 1984 from the Illinois
Deptartment of Human Resources.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday April 20, 2002 in Stults-Neece
Funeral Home in Palmyra, IL. Where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm Friday. Burial
will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to Palmyra United Methodist
Church or Carlinville Area Hospital Home Care.
