Patricia MacLellan (Dugan)
Patricia MacLellan, 78, of San Antonio, TX passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003. She was born in Winchester the daughter of Thomas J.”Tuck” and Edith Watt Dugan. Mrs. MacLellan was a graduate of Winchester High School. She attended the University of Illinois and was a stewardess with American Airlines. She was a resident of Mexico City, Mexico for 24 years and Cali, Columbia for 5 years and resided in San Antonio since 1976. She was a member of the Junior League in Mexico City, the San Antonio Junior League Sustainers, and an Auxiliary Volunteer ABC Hospital Auxiliary Mexico City. Also a member of Gamma Phi Beta of San Antonio. She was active in the garden club and a member of and participated in bible study at St. David’s Episcopal Church. Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Neil MacLellan of San Antonio; sons Jeff (wife Becky) MacLellan of Columbia, MO, and Andy (wife June) MacLellan of Paris, France; Grandchildren Jay (wife Melissa) MacLellan, Carrie MacLellan, Scott (wife Alice) MacLellan, and Alex MacLellan; a brother Don (wife Mary) Dugan of Columbia, MO. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday April 19, 2003 at the Winchester City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or to St. David’s Special Adult Ministry.

Mr. Robert Eugene Manley Sr.
Robert Eugene Manley, Sr., age 69, of Roodhouse, died Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2003 at his residence. He was born May 9, 1933 in Roodhouse, the son of John W. and Goldie Johnson Manley. He married Sonja Fitch Crow on Sept. 15, 1966 and she preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, Robert (wife, Michelle) Manley, Jr.; Clay (wife, Lee Ann) Manley and Craig (wife, Janie) Manley, all of Roodhouse; two daughters, Karen Leann (husband, Herschel) White and Shannon Manley, both of Winchester and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Scott Crow; two brothers, Charles and Clyde Manley and three sisters, Ruby LaTempt, Wanda McGurk and Ruth Riddle. Mr. Manley worked at Encoat Pipe Company in Alton for 34 years, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1961 and served in Korea during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Full Military rites will be conducted by the White Hall VFW Post 7684 at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 at the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Ms. Frances J. Massey
Frances J. Massey, 96, of Springfield and formerly of Jacksonville, died Thursday afternoon, February 13, 2003, at the Sangamon Care Center in Springfield. She was born on April 15, 1906, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Terah T. and Ella Sheppard Massey. She is survived by three grandchildren, Nancy (husband, Lee) Buedel of Bradenton, Florida, Margaret Ann Robb of Springfield, and David N. Harris of Springfield; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Massey Harris; one brother, Troy Massey; and two sisters, Margaret Millot and Mayna Preston. Ms. Massey worked at the Kresge store on the Jacksonville square for many years. From 1962 to 1979, she lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and worked at JC Penney. She attended the Central Christian Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed sewing and making gifts for her grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or the donor’s choice. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lorrene Louella Jane McCracken (Witty)
Lorrene Louella Jane McCracken, age 89, of Roodhouse, died Friday morning, Feb. 28, 2003 at the White Hall Multicare Center. She was born Oct. 5, 1913 in Roodhouse, the daughter of R. T. and Stella M. Watkins Witty. She married Virgil “Jake” McCracken on Oct. 27, 1937 in Valpriso, Indiana and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1978. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Quirk of Chicago; and one granddaughter, Lauren E. Quirk. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Glen & Brian Witty and one sister, Esther Cunningham. Mrs. McCracken lived in the same house on Simmons St. in Roodhouse for over 50 years. She enjoyed helping people, first at Coates’ Variety Store and later at Hopkins Jewelry and Gift Store, both in Roodhouse. Renowned for her baking skills, Lorrene was also an avid traveler and card player and was active until the very end of her life. Her love of books and literature was well-known and made her a regular patron at the Roodhouse Public Library where she had read practically every book. She was a member of the former Roodhouse Christian Church and was a current member of the White Hall First Christian Church. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Private burial will be held at Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Charles Richard McFadden Sr.
Charles Richard McFadden, Sr., 78, of Chapin, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born June 25, 1924, in Arcadia, the son of Fred O. and Hilma Standley McFadden. He married Betty Wright on March 9, 1951 and she preceded him in death on July 7, 1994. He is survived by three sons, Charles Richard McFadden, Jr., of Springfield, Roger L. McFadden of Chapin, and William D. (wife, Robin) McFadden of Jacksonville; two daughters, Nancy Kay (husband, Ralph) Retherford of Murrayville and Patricia Anne Michael of Jacksonville; thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Marjorie “Mac” (wife, Amy) McFadden of Orange City, Florida. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Charles Stephen; one brother, Fred McFadden; and one sister, Mary Ellen Walters. Mr. McFadden farmed for many years in the Chapin area. He had also worked as a technician at the Jacksonville Developmental Center for several years. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Chapin, Jacksonville Moose Lodge, and Farm Bureau. He collected antique farm toys and enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old westerns, and drinking coffee with his friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2003, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with burial at Grace Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Passavant Hospital Paramedics.

Mrs. Annadell McGee (Newingham)
Annadell McGee, age 74, of Roodhouse, died early Monday morning, April 14, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born April 17, 1928 in Patterson, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude Moore Newingham. She married Charles E. McGee on Aug. 9, 1947 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Sharlie (husband, Larry) Million of Ashland and Diane (husband, Phil) Blackketter of Roodhouse; two sons, Michael (wife, Paula) McGee of Roodhouse and Donald (wife, Carolyn) McGee of Alsey; 10 grandchildren, Rick Million, Lisa Ratliff, Seth McGee, Bethanny McGee, Kayla McGee, Allison McGee, Stefanie Blackketter, John Blackketter, Jessica Potter and Jennifer Potter; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Isabell Yeaman of Windsor; Edna Richards of Buffalo and Ruby Smock of Ashland; and two brothers, Charles Newingham of New Berlin and Kenneth Newingham of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by one son, John McGee; one granddaughter, Carrie L. McGee; one great granddaughter, Hailey Ratliff; and five brothers, Elmer, Gene, Gerald, and William Newingham. Mrs. McGee was a homemaker who loved shopping and yard sales. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 1:30-2:00 p.m. at the cemetery. The Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Helen H. McPherson (Hiatt)
Helen H. McPherson, age 89, of White Hall, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, 2003 at the White Hall Multicare Center where she had been for five days. She was born June 4, 1913 on the family farm in Green e County, the daughter of Leslie and Hazel Hudson Hiatt. She married Ernest Pinkerton in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1947. She later married Lee Hartline who died in 1964. She then married Manford McPherson who died in 1995. She is survived by one son, Robert (wife, Patricia) Pinkerton of Jacksonville; a son-in-law, Lawrence Wyatt of White Hall; three grandchildren, Alanna Vinyard, Rob Pinkerton and Chris Pinkerton; eight great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Hiatt of White Hall and a special friend and caretaker, Mae Pilkington of White Hall. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol L. Wyatt, who died in Jan. 2002. Mrs. McPherson loved gardening, animals, sewing and her family. She was a homemaker who was active in family activities, in raising funds for the White Hall Hospital, blood drives and other charities. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in White Hall. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the White Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arnold Meek
Arnold Meek, 79, of Carrollton died on Tuesday Feb. 11, 2003 at 11 P.M. at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. born near Eldred on Nov. 27, 1923 he was the son of the late Arnot and Alma Wagener Meek. On Dec. 8, 1946 he married the former Dolores Little in Jerseyville and she survives. Also surviving are 5 daughters: Jeanette (husband Allen) Handling of Alton, Kathryn (husband John) Scanlon of Glen Arm, Diane (husband Daryl ) Darnell of Jacksonville, Martha Meek and Marsha Meek both of Georgetown, Texas, 2 sons: Larry (wife Chris) Meek of Carrollton and Phillip (wife Ann) Meek of Gaston, S.C. 8 grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, a brother Hugh Meek Jr. of Carrollton and a sister Minnie Parsell of Jerseyville. Mr. Meek was a long time farmer. Cremation rites will be accorded and no services are scheduled as per his wishes. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Brent Mefford
Thomas Brent Mefford, 25, of Franklin passed away early Sunday morning (June 8, 2003) at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born May 6, 1978 in Jacksonville the son of Milo T. and Sue Miller Mefford. He was a 1996 graduate of Franklin High School. He was employed at AC HUMKO in Jacksonville where he worked as a boilermaker local 480. He enjoyed life, riding his Harley Davidson, going on poker runs and playing guitar. He is survived by his parents, Milo T. Mefford of Winchester, and Sue Mefford of Atlanta, Georgia, 2 sisters Patti (husband Tim) Newman of Jacksonville and Morgan Mefford of Springfield, a brother Eric Mefford of Springfield, his paternal grandmother GlennaMefford of Winchester and maternal grandparents John and Carol Miller of Jacksonville. Many aunts uncles, cousins and his dog Chopper. He was preceded in death by his cousin Geoy Mefford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday (June 12, 2003) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home were the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross.

Mrs. Anna Lucille Meline (Bowcott)
Anna Lucille Bowcott Meline Anna Lucille Bowcott Meline, 93, of Jacksonville died Monday evening, March 10, 2003 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born September 8, 1909 in Peoria the daughter of Roy and Catherine Johnson Bowcott. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Meline of Jacksonville; one grandson, Ronald (wife, JoAnn) Busse, Jr. of The Woodlands, TX; 3 granddaughters, Rebecca (husband, Mark) Ruwe of Chicago, Robin (husband, Tim) Weems of Stagecoach, NV and Tamara (husband, Tim) Freand of White Hall; 4 great-grandchildren, Amber Hayes, Tyler and Roni Weems and Grant Busse and special friends, Jeff, Paula, Emily and Erika Haley. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann (surviving husband, Ronald, Sr. of Mt.Prospect ) Busse; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Lyn White; her parents; an infant sister, Mary Helen and one brother, Walter Bowcott. Mrs. Meline came to Jacksonville in 1934 from St. David, Illinois. She was a 1928 graduate of Canton High School and Brown’s Business College in Peoria in 1929 with a Business Degree. She had worked for Jacksonville City Water and Light, retiring as the head of the billing department in 1974. She loved all kinds of sports, especially watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls and tennis on television. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Williamson Funeral Home with private burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Raymond William Menge, Jr.
Raymond William Menge, Jr., age 59, of Roodhouse, died early Sunday morning, April 27, 2003 at St. John’s North Transitional Care in Springfield. He was born June 13, 1943 in Jacksonville, the son of Raymond W. and Freda Gibson Menge, Sr. He married Judy A. Thomas on Aug. 25, 1979 in Roodhouse and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Terry D. (wife, Kristen) Menge of San Diego, California; two brothers, Donald (wife, Cathy) Menge of South Jacksonville and Robert (wife, Linda) Menge of Emmet, Idaho; two sisters, Carol Daly of Jacksonville and Sharon (husband, Charles) Pine of Bluffs; his mother-in-law, Lena Thomas of White Hall; his brother-in-law, Bob Thomas of Chesterfield; twenty-one nieces and nephews and twenty-six great nieces and nephews. Mr. Menge was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968, serving in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter and Good Conduct Medal. Ray was a plumber, pipefitter and welder at Doyle Plumbing and Heating in Jacksonville. He was a member of Local Union #137, Plumbers and Steamfitters at Springfield. He was a Roodhouse City Alderman for 12 years, a member of the Roodhouse Park Board, a member of the Jacksonville Good Time Cruisers Car Club, and a former White Hall Lions Club member, later moving his membership to the Roodhouse Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, antiquing, tinkering on old cars and mowing at his farm. He loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was a kind, generous, and loving man. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the All Saints Catholic Church in White Hall with burial at the White Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Seton Hall in White Hall. Mrs. Marilyn Ann Merris (Hurley)
Marilyn Ann Hurley Merris, 61, of Jacksonville, died Friday morning, March 21, 2003, at St. John’s North in Springfield. She was born April 3, 1941, in Springfield, the daughter of John P. and Mary Cavanaugh Hurley. She married William D. Merris on December 28, 1963, in Springfield, and he survives. She is also survived by one brother, John (wife, Carol) Hurley of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Merris taught English at Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville for many years. Prior to teaching at Routt, she taught grade school in Springfield, and later at New Berlin High School. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Springfield and attended Springfield College, before graduating from Illinois College in 1964. Mrs. Merris thoroughly enjoyed her work as a teacher and was known for her exceptional rapport with her students. She was an avid reader and bridge player, and also enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with her husband. Mrs. Merris was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and served on the Friends of the Library Board for many years. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Church of Our Saviour, with burial at Green Cemetery near Bluffs. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends following a 3:45 p.m. prayer service, until 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School, or the Marilyn Merris Scholarship at Illinois College, which is being established, by her husband for the benefit of a Routt Catholic High School graduate attending Illinois College.

Mr. Robert Harold Middleton Jr.
Robert Harold Middleton, Jr., 84, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday evening, January 1, 2003, at the Transitional Care Unit at Passavant Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1918, in Jacksonville, the son of Robert Harold, Sr., and Nellie Coultas Middleton. He married Mildred German on March 14, 1943 in Maryland, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 1981. He later married Lorain Knight on June 5, 1982 in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by one son, David (wife, Karen) Middleton of Jacksonville; one daughter, Nancy White of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew Middleton; and one brother, Elbert Middleton (surviving wife Mary Ruth of Jacksonville.) Mr. Middleton farmed his entire life, southwest of Jacksonville. He served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, in the European Theatre. He was a 4-H Leader and Superintendent of Sheep and Goats at the Morgan County Fair for many years; president and member of the Pygmy Goat Association; and member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Jacksonville Moose, VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2003 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Morgan County 4-H or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs Geraldine Mies (Anderson)
Geraldine Anderson Mies, 87, of Loami, IL formerly Saunemin, JL.died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 in her home in Maxwell Twp. She was born May 24, 1915 in Maxwell Twp. Sangamon County, illinois, a daughter of John Milford and Leona Conlee Anderson. She and Clarence Mies were married on August 20, 1938 in the Anderson residence in Sangamon County, by Elder Chastain. Clarence preceded her in death on August 12, 1991. Surviving are two sons: Edward C. (wife Jean Ann) Mies of Loami, IL; David W. (wife Sharron) Mies of Goshen, hid; three daughters: Jane (husband Richard) Flail of Loami, IL, Ellen (husband Robert) Woods of Taylorville, IL, Vera (husband Dr. Patrick) O’Domiell of Columbia, Missouri, one sister Rev. Loraine Pitman of hidianapolis, Indiana; five Grandsons: Richard (wife Adorn) Hall of Aipharetta, Ga., Craig (wife Susan) Hall of Waverly, Tim (wife Emelie) Mies of Champaign, IL, Ted (wife Julie) Mies of Waverly, Jonathan Mies of Loatni, IL, six granddaughters: Rebecca (husband Dr. Murray) McGrady of Belleville, IL, Cynthia (husband Charles) Patterson of Auburn, IL, Stephanie (husband Ross) Freier, Rochelle, IL, Dr Anna (husband Dr. L. W.) Richie of Springfield, IL, Rev. Lana (husband Rev. Glen) Robyne of West Lafayette, hid., Valerie Woods of Richton Park, IL. and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Eileen in infancy, two brothers: Lawrence Conlee Anderson and one brother Ronald in infancy, one grandson Eric Woods and one brother-in-law Rev. Frank Pitman. She graduated from Waverly Twp High School in 1933, and in 1937 from the University of Illinois with a degree in Home Economics Education. While in the U of I she became a charter member of the 4H Co-operative Residence for University Women. Upon graduation she taught in Athens, flhinois and sub taught in the area for many years. After starting her family she was very active in 4H, serving 20 years as a Leader in Sangamon and Livingston Counties. Her church was very important to her, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waverly and in Saunemin, illinois and was very active in the United Methodist Women, serving in various leadership positions in both over the years.. She was also an active member of Sangamon County Fanu Bureau, T. I. E., Neighbors Together Again, Tallcington Home Bureau, and a charter member of Waverly Genealogical and Historical Society.

Mr. Gregory Paul Miller
Gregory Paul Miller, age 34, of Pittsfield, Ill. and Carbondale, Ill. died early Saturday (February 8, 2003) at the scene of a two-vehicle accident south of Pittsfield, Ill. He was born June 5, 1968 in Pittsfield, Ill. son of Paul and Kay Frank Miller. He married Michelle LeAnn Harrison on April 27, 2002 in Louisiana, Mo. and she survives. Also surviving are his parents, Paul and Kay Miller of Pittsfield, Ill.; a sister, Jackie Miller of Pittsfield, Ill.; a half-brother, Joe Miller of California; a half-sister, Sue Kalvoda and husband Peter of California; a niece, Shannon Tobin of California; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eldon and May Frank; paternal grandparents, Walter and Ollie Miller. Greg was a 1986 graduate of Pittsfield High School where he set the school record for two point near falls in wrestling. He also ran the mile and half mile in track and when in grade school he qualified for state. He attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. graduating in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and obtained a teacher’s certificate. He also wrestled for MacMurray College. Following college, Greg helped to start and build the Pittsfield Youth Wrestling Program, a program that goes on proudly today. Greg worked in the family business, Miller Furniture in Pittsfield, for many years. He also taught school in Barry, Ill. for one year and substituted at various schools in Pike County, Ill, and for the past seven years. Recently, he worked as a Correctional Officer for the State of Illinois working at the Pittsfield Facility. His hobbies included woodworking, music and taking care of their beloved dog Napa. He was also a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a certified instructor. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pittsfield Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield, Ill. Burial will be in Pittsfield West Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pittsfield Assembly of God Church where family will meet with friends from 4 to 8 p.m.. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pittsfield High School Wrestling Program or the Saukee Youth Wrestling or Pittsfield West Cemetery. Bessie Lee Moore (Branham)
Bessie L. Moore, 84, of White Hall died at 5:30 P.M. on Monday April 28, 2003 at White Hall Multicare Center. born in Montgomery County Kentucky on Oct. 3, 1908 she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Anna Branham. She was married to Les Moore who preceded her in death in 1943. Surviving are a son Troy Moore of Columbus, Ga., 7 grandchildren: Connie Powell of Carrollton, Jackie Pollard of Athensville, Libby Forbes of Hartford, Toby Roberts of Roodhouse, Stanley Cecil of Roodhouse, Jeff and Scott Moore of Georgia, 16 great grandchildren and a brother Stanley Branham of Mt. She was preceded in death by a daughter : Ruby Lee Roberts, 2 grandchildren: Michael and Luke Cecil, 2 great grandchildren: Sunkleep Powell and Michael Cecil, 3 brothers: Ben, John, and Elmer Branham, and 4 sisters: Clara Curduff, Ruby Johnson, Dell Cook and Edith Curtis. Mrs. Moore was a tobacco farmer and ran a general store prior to retirement. She was a member of the Baptist Faith. Visitation will be from Noon on Thursday until 1 P.M. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Graveside rites will follow in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials are mentioned to a charity of one’s choice.

Ms. Sula Jane Mosley (Turner)
Sula Jane Mosley, 88, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday morning, January 15, 2002, at Prairie Village Healthcare Center in Jacksonville. She was born on June 24, 1914, in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Marion and Ellen Harris Turner. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Cochran of Jacksonville, Mary Ann (husband, Donald) Laughary of Cottonwood, California, and Patricia (husband, Robert) Brennan of Murrayville; eight grandchildren, twelve great-granchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Prentice Turner; one sister, Elizabeth Pogue; and one half-brother, Sam Turner. Ms. Mosley worked as a licensed practical nurse for Meline’s Nursing Home in Jacksonville for many years before her retirement. She always enjoyed gardening and walking, but most of all dedicating herself as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Arcardia Cemetery at Arcadia. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Mr. Woodrow E. Motley
Woodrow E. Motley, age 84, of New Hartford, Ill. died Tuesday morning (March 4, 2003) at his residence. He was born May 1, 1918 in Parkside, Canada son of the late John W. and Effie R. Ward Motley He married Della Ator on December 22, 1937 in Pittsfield, Ill. and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2000. Surviving are two sons, Jerry Motley and wife Ruth Ann of Barry, Ill. and Stanley Motley and wife Betty of Wildwood, Mo.; four grandchildren, David Motley and wife Kimberly of Barry, Ill., Mrs. Allen (Mary Elaine) Nigg of Battle Creek Michigan, Mrs. Scott (Lisa) Gard of Salina, Kansas, and Steven Motley of Wildwood, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Lee Motley, Rachel Esther Motley both of Barry, Ill., Jacob and Morgan Nigg both of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Michael Scott Gard and Joseph Alan Gard of Salina, Kansas.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Roberta Motley and Marjorie Woods; three brothers, Walter Motley, Tom Motley, and Hubert Motley. Woodrow farmed northwest of Rockport, Ill. and southeast of El Dara, Ill. for many years. He was a member of the New Hartford Christian Church and helped to build the Rockport Methodist Church and was a past member of the El Dara Methodist Church. He was very active in his community serving as a 4-H leader in El Dara and a member of the El Dara Masonic Lodge #388. He also served on the board of directors for Production Credit Association as well as the Samuel-Taylor Cemetery board. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during W.W. II. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday (March 8, 2003) at the New Hartford Christian Church with Rev. Scott DeCamp and Bro. Robert Hammitt officiating. Burial will be in Samuel-Taylor Cemetery near Rockport, Ill. where graveside military rites will be conducted by Pittsfield American Legion Post #1040. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. where family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice of Pike County.

Miss Julia Marie Murphy
Julia Marie Murphy, 21, of Palmyra, Illinois, died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Texas from results of an automobile accident. She was born April 5, 1982 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Scott King (wife, Sonya) and Joy Darlene Murphy Pratt. She was a 2001 graduate of Northwestern High School. She was a member of the honor society and had planned to attend college to be a veterinarian. She is survived by her parents; 1 brother, Jeremy Murphy of Auburn; 1 sister, Joyce Nicole Murphy of Auburn, Illinois; ½ brother, Justin King of Auburn, Illinois; ½ sisters Amanda King and Christina King of Auburn, Illinois; ½ sister Jessica Landery of Virden, Illinois; 2 grandmothers, Irene Murphy of Palmyra, Illinois; Jean Pintar of Deming, New Mexico; 1 great grandmother Edna Emery of Palmyra, Illinois; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by 1 grandfather, H.R. Murphy and 1 stepfather, James Pratt. Funeral services will be at 10am, Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, Illinois. Family will meet friends from 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the family for the establishment of a fund for the Precious Jew No Kill Animal Shelter.

Mr. George Harold Musch
George Harold Musch, 80, of rural Arenzville, died Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2003, at his residence. He was born December 28, 1922, in Jacksonville, the son of George W. and Selma Lovekamp Musch, Sr. He is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Hagerty of Arenzville; cousins Waldron (wife, Shirley) Paul of Arenzville, Elizabeth Chalupka of Evanston, William (wife, Doris) Niemann of Tucson, Arizona, John (wife, Ann) Musch of Arenzville, Melvin (wife, Mildred) Musch of Chapin, Floyd (wife, Maxine) Musch of Concord, and Albert Henry Musch of Jacksonville; and numerous other cousins, including Craig Musch of Chapin and Brian Musch of Arenzville, both of whom assisted Mr. Musch with his farm operation. Mr. Musch was a lifelong farmer in the Arenzville area, and lived in the home on his farm his entire life. He raised livestock and was very proud of his land and his machinery. Mr. Musch was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Arenzville and served as chairman of the building committee when the new church was erected in 1971. He was a board member of the Lutheran Social Services of St. Luke’s Hospital in Beardstown, and his generosity funded the Musch Chapel at that hospital. Mr. Musch also gave generously to Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville and Carthage College at Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mr. Musch was a member of the Jacksonville Country Club and the Beardstown Elks Club. He enjoyed taking rides in his truck, monitoring the local farm activities. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2003, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Arenzville, with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Cass County Hospice or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Teresa Ann Myers (Whited)
Teresa Ann Myers, age 55, of Perry, Ill. died Sunday (June 8, 2003) at 10:40 a.m. St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Ill. She was born November 3, 1947 in Jacksonville, Ill. daughter of Charles and Betty Ruyle Whited. She married Carl Myers on September 30, 1966 in Meredosia, Ill. and he survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Jenica Myers of Quincy, Ill.; one son, Chad Myers of Reno, Nevada; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Whited; and grandparents, Opal and Roy “Sam” Ruyle and Eunice and Charles B. Whited. Teresa was a loving wife and mother. She attended John Wood Community College in Pittsfield, Ill. She later became a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for Perry, Ill and was a Grand Lecturer for the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very adept at helping the sick and elderly, and volunteered for the Red Cross as well as the Humane Society and made herself available to all who needed her. She enjoyed writing, cooking, and spending time with her family and animals. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (June 12, 2003) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Meredosia St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Harold Louis "Newt" Nobis
Harold Louis “Newt” Nobis, 81, of Arenzville, died Sunday evening, April 27, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born April 22, 1922, near Arenzville, the son of Alfred H. and Frieda Jasmund Nobis. He married June L. Ore December 28, 1946 in Mayfield, Kentucky, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Randy (wife, Karen) Nobis of Arenzville and Rodney (wife, Gloria) Nobis of Slidell, Louisiana; one daughter, April (husband, Larry) Pattie of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Jamie Nobis and Nicole (husband, Michael) Otto, both of St. Louis, Captain Ryan Nobis of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Stephanie Nobis and Erich Nobis of Arenzville; and Mariah Pattie, Michaela Pattie, and Marissa Pattie, all of Springfield; one brother, Eldore (wife, Evelyn) Nobis of Hamstead, North Carolina; and two sisters, Edna Zell and Alma (husband, Carl) Boak, both of St. John’s, Michigan. Mr. Nobis was preceded in death by his step-mother, Louise Zulauf, and one brother, Melvin, whose wife Kathryn survives in Bluffs. Mr. Nobis owned and operated Nobis Bar and Grill in Arenzville from 1945-83. He served two terms as mayor of Arenzville. Always civic-minded, Mr. Nobis was involved in many community events and improvements, including youth programs, working at the Arenzville Ballpark, and developing the Tower View Subdivision. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Arenzville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m.; and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or The National Emphysema Foundation.
