Mrs. Loretta M. Nolan (Estler)
Loretta M. Nolan, 86, of Jacksonville, died Saturday morning, February 1, 2003, at the Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born on May 14, 1916 in rural Green e County, the daughter of Edward and Courtney Estler. She married Lawrence L. Nolan in August of 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1962. She is survived by two sons, Merle (wife, Barbara) Nolan of Wheaton, IL, Gordon (wife, Marjorie) Nolan of Chatham; and two daughters, Marilyn Leary of Romeoville, IL, and Betty F. Rook of Jacksonville; one sister, Ruby Hart of Granite City; 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Delbert Estler; one grandchild; and three sons-in-law, Robert Fry; J. T. Leary and Elvy Rook. Mrs. Nolan worked on the lower level of the Y.M.C.A. for 14 years and was also employed by Kirlins’ She retired in the 1970s from J. Capps and Sons and was an Avon Representative for many years. She was also a member of the Manchester Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at the Manchester City Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Barton W. Stone Christian Home.

Mrs. Velma Mayme Nortrup (Boehs)
Velma Mayme Boehs Nortrup, 85, of Jacksonville, died Thursday morning, January 2, 2003, at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born on July 22, 1917, near Chapin, the daughter of Herman and Annie Werries Boehs. She married Earl V. Nortrup on February 6, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1994. She is survived by one son, Don (wife, Nancy) Nortrup of Brookeville, Maryland; two daughters, Judy (husband, David) Roehrs of Concord and Evelyn (husband, Gary) Weier of Gulfport, Mississippi; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Gerhardt J. “Gary” Boehs of Chapin. Mrs. Nortrup was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Joanne; one brother, Herman Boehs, Jr.; and three sisters, Clara Leischner, Lorna Boatman, and Carrie Clark. Mrs. Nortrup worked for more than 30 years at various retail establishments on the Jacksonville square, including John Green ’s, PN Hirsch, and Sears. She was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She took great pleasure from her membership in the Gathering of Lutherans, hosting family gatherings, and opening her home and table to all guests. Mrs. Nortrup and her husband had traveled throughout the United States visiting family, botanical gardens, and parks. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2002, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Neeleyville. The family will meet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church.

Mr. Paul W. Nunes
Paul W. Nunes, 86, of Sarasota, Florida, died Sunday morning, February 9, 2003, at Ashton Place Assisted Living Facility in Sarasota. He was born on August 17, 1916, in Jacksonville, the son of William and Bessie Bostick Nunes. He is survived by two sons, Steve (wife, Gale) Nunes of Rome and Gary(wife, Debbie)Nunes of Chicago; two daughters, Elizabeth “Chris” Kopp and Lynne Huff, both of Sarasota; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bud (surviving wife Alice of Pekin), and one sister, Beatrice Copleland. Mr. Nunes graduated from Bradley University in Peoria and had served in the United States Army with the military police. He had worked as a sales manager for Hiram Walker Distilleries prior to his retirement. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Marjorie Parsons (Newberry)
Marjorie Parsons, 81, of Jacksonville, Illinois, formerly of Pertersburg, Illinois, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 25, 2003. She was born on September 7, 1921 in Cass County, the daughter of Robert R. and Lucinda Bell Newberry. She married Weldon Parsons in 1943. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1985. She was a beautician for 50 years. She was the owner of the Garden View Shelter Care Home in Tallula. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Tallula and the First Christian Church of Petersburg. She is survived by two sons; Gregory R. Parsons (Patti Wilson) of Jacksonville, Illinois; Robert E. Parsons of Jacksonville, Illinois, 4 grandchildren: Wendy (John) Airsman of Waverly, Jason Parsons (Casey McGee) of Jacksonville, Teri (Albert) Thompson Wesley Parsons of Jacksonville, 5 great-grandchildren, and longtime friend, Katherine Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers: Lewis Oliver Newberry, Ollie Newberry, Stanley Newberry, Russell Newberry, Robert Newberry and one sister, Marie Preckwinkle. Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Neece Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Donald Lee Pennell
Donald Lee “Sonny” Pennell, 73, of South Jacksonville, died Thursday evening, January 16, 2003, at his residence. He was born on August 22, 1929, in Jacksonville, the son of Donald L. “Bus” and Lela G. Murray Pennell. He married Anna F. Fairfield on September 4, 1953, and she survives. He is also survived by three sons, Jeff (wife, Vickie) Pennell and Kevin (wife, Dessa) Pennell, both of Jacksonville, and Tim (wife, Leslie) Pennell, of Lafayette, Indiana; one daughter, Cindy (husband, Rich) Leake of Jacksonville; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Danny J. (wife, Jan) Pennell of Roscoe, Larry G. Pennell and Reginald (wife, Shelby) Pennell, both of Jacksonville, and James G. Pennell of Ontario, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Pennell was a self-employed electrical contractor and owned and operated Pennell Electric in Jacksonville for 33 years. He served in the Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Jacksonville Elks Club, Moose Club, and the VFW. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Elks Little League.

Mr. Jack Pinkerton
Jack Pinkerton, age 79, of White Hall, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 29, 2003 at the White Hall Multicare Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Kane, the son of Walla and Etta Bickmore Pinkerton. He married Carmelene James on Dec. 29, 1950 in Roodhouse and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Janene Pinkerton of White Hall; and one sister, Dorothy (husband, Delbert) Hutton of White Hall. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Pinkerton and four sisters, Bonnie Hammon, Hazel Knox, Peg Smock and Dolly Ash. Mr. Pinkerton served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at White Hall Sewer Pipe & Stoneware Co. for 15 years and then worked for Kordite in Jacksonville for several years. He later worked at Carnation for 17 years, retiring in 1988. He operated a lawn mower repair service at his home for many years. Private funeral services will be held. Interment will be in Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the White Hall Multicare Center Alzheimer’s Wing and can be made through the funeral home.

Mr. Buell Ray Powell
Buell Ray Powell, age 74, of White Hall, died Sunday evening, Jan. 12, 2003 at his residence. He was born Nov. 20, 1928 in Hillview, the son of Charles P. and Helen F. Forrester Powell. He is survived by four daughters, Vicki D. (husband, J.T.) Byrne of Savannah, Georgia; Sandra (husband, Mark) Williams of Pelham, Alabama; Patricia (husband, Fred) Steagel of Ozark, Alabama and Tamara (husband, Chris) Sanders of Troy, Alabama; twelve grandchildren and one sister, Beverly Dawdy of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Gilbert Powell. Mr. Powell retired from the U.S. Army in 1978 after 26 years of service. He was a member of the White Hall VFW Post 7684 and the Bryant-Thomas American Legion Post 1210 in Hillview. He was also a member of the Association of the U.S. Army and the Army Aviation Association of America. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at the White Hall Cemetery in White Hall. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall.

Joseph Pranger Jr.
Joseph Pranger Jr., 79, of Carrollton died at 1:10 A.M. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on Thursday Jan. 23, 2003. born at Daum Station in Linder Twp. on July 30, 1923 he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Gertrude Herkert Pranger. On Oct. 14, 1945 in Carrollton he married the former Edna Butler and she survives. Also surviving are: 2 daughters: Debbie Davis of Medora, Tonya (husband Terry) Moser of Whitehouse, TX, a son: Joseph (wife Miriam) Pranger III of Auburndale, FL., 4 grandchildren: Jason, Melissa, Leah, Carrie, 4 great grandchildren, a sister: Mrs. George “Doris” Kaiser of Carrollton, a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Pranger and a brother-in-law: Keith Smith of Roodhouse. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Mary Evelyn Smith, Helen (and husband Joe) Blesse, Irene (and husband Dale)Carter, 2 brothers: Henry Pranger and Jerome (and wife Bernadine) Pranger. Mr. Pranger worked at Alfeld’s Grocery in Carrollton while he attended St. John’s School and later Western Cartridge. He entered the U.S. Army in WWII and served with the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper. Later he farmed with his father and went to work at the Green e Co. Highway Dept. in 1970 retiring in 1985. Most recently he worked as Asst. Green s Superintendent at Lone Oak Golf Course and he was an avid golfer. He also maintained his private pilots license and his love of flying. For 57 good years he and wife Edna were able to “dance thru life”. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Friday at St. John’s Church in Carrollton where Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Green e Co. Visiting Nurses or American Cancer Society. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Gene Russell Pulling
Gene Russell Pulling, age 50, of Groveland, Ill. died Thursday (February 6, 2003) at his residence. He was born May 25, 1952 in Peoria son of Clyde R. “Huck” and LaVergne Lemke Pulling. He married Vicki Miller in 1971 and later married Rita L. Orrill, formerly of Pittsfield, on October 22, 1988 in Peoria. Surviving is his wife, Rita; his parents of Apopka, Fla.; one daughter, Jennifer D. Pulling of Peoria; two sons, Benjamin R. Pulling of Peoria and Gregory D. Clampitt of Groveland, Ill.; one sister, Lynnette Piskorski and husband James of Pekin, Ill.; one niece, Elizabeth Piskorski; and his beloved companion, his dog Molly. Gene was an owner operator of a tractor-trailer for 20 years, he last worked for D & G Transportation, Inc. in Germantown, Wisconsin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1971 to 1974. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Community Church in East Peoria; the Independent Owner and Operator Driver Association, and the Harley Davidson Owners Group. He enjoyed horses, riding motorcycles and driving his trucks. A memorial service was held Saturday (February 15, 2003) at his church in East Peoria with Rev. Ed Gray officiating. Memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, 11 Second St., Rochester, Mn. 55901, or to the Pleasant Hill Community Church, Pleasant Hill Rd., East Peoria, Ill. 61611. Bernard Rawe
Bernard Rawe, 89, of Carrollton died on Tues. March 18, 2003 at 8:50 P.M. at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. born in Carrollton on Oct. 29, 1913 he was the son of the late Herman and Emma Geldhaus Rawe. Surviving are 3 nephews and spouses: Bob and Marilyn Brinker of Murrayville, Henry “Bud”and Ellen Brinker of Carrollton, Dennis Rawe of Jerseyville, 2 nieces and spouses: Jean and Howard Rollins of Green field and Phyllis and Michael Marsh of Jerseyville. Several great nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Rawe was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Henry, Bill and August and 2 sisters: Anna Rawe and Frances Brinker. He was a longtime farmer, hunter, trapper and fisher. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Green e Co. Farm Bureau. He was known around Carrollton for the fresh produce and eggs he delivered to your door. He was a kind and gentle spirit who will be missed. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton where Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 A.M. Prayer service will be held at 4 P.M. on Friday. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery and memorial may be made to the church or for masses.

Mrs. Sherill L. Rawlings (Peck)
Sherill L. Rawlings, 68, of Arenzville, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She was born January 7, 1935, in Arenzville, the daughter of Joseph Edwin and Marie C. Hammer Peck. She married William M. Rawlings on November 25, 1956 and he preceded her in death May 16, 1988. She is survived by one son, W. Mitchell (wife, Teresa) Rawlings, Jr. of Woodlawn; one daughter, Mona (husband, Troy) Spoon of Murphy, Texas; one granddaughter, Samantha Spoon; one sister, Mabel Jean Norris of Talent, Oregon; one brother, J. Wendell (wife, Joanne) Peck of Arenzville; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rawlings was a registered nurse, working at the Beardstown Clinic, and later for Dr. Doug Zimmerman in Rushville. She was a graduate of the Passavant School of Nursing in Jacksonville. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Arenzville. Mrs. Rawlings enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and attending horse shows with her Morgan horse, Gunner. Recently, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter in Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2003, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Arenzville, with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Donald L. Reagor
Donald L. Reagor, age 74, of St. Augustine, formerly of Roodhouse, died early Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1928 in Roodhouse, the son of William E. and Amanda A. Smith Reagor. He married Leona May Rochester on Oct. 27, 1950 in Roodhouse and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2000. He is survived by one son, William (wife, Claudia) Reagor of Roodhouse; one daughter, Debra (husband, Lewis) Turner of St. Augustine; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one brother, Vince (wife, Muriel) Reagor of Roodhouse. He was preceded in death by one brother, William E. Reagor, Jr. and one sister, Florina Bailey. Mr. Reagor was a veteran of World War II. He worked for the State of Illinois at Jacksonville, Galesburg and Peoria as a mental health technician, retiring March 1988. He also worked as a police dispatcher in Abingdon for several years and worked at Wareco Convenience Store in Abingdon for several years. He was a member of the Abingdon American Legion, the White Hall Masonic Lodge #80 and the Ansar Shrine in Springfield. He enjoyed all sports, hunting and fishing. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 at the Manchester Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse, where public Masonic services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the OSF Hospice of Galesburg.

Mr. Robert E. Reed
Robert E. Reed, 74, of Jacksonville, died Saturday morning, January 18, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on June 8, 1928, in Springfield, the son of Clarence “Tag” and Elizabeth Weber Merritt Reed. He married Ada Louise Graves on November 4, 1954, in Springfield, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Karen White of Jacksonville; one son, Steve (wife, Jill) Reed of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren, Aubrey Reed, Zachary Reed, Breanna Sellers, and James P. Hembrough, all of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one sister, Loren Barton (surviving husband Floyd “Bud” Barton of Edinburg.) Mr. Reed was a graduate of Springfield High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Transportation Clerk at the former Anderson-Clayton, and then Kraft Foods for 30 years before retiring in 1988. He loved his grandchildren, all animals, and was an avid St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County Animal Shelter.

Leroy J. Reeder
Leroy J. Reeder, 78, formerly of Carrollton died at 3 A.M. at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy on March 18, 2003. born on Feb. 5, 1925 in Quincy, he was the son of the late Roy and Hazel Sanders Reeder. On Sept. 3, 1949 he married the former Wilma Meyer in Quincy and she survives. A native of Adams County, a graduate of Quincy Senior High and the University of Illinois. After 3 years in the South Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Navy and 2 years in the Korean Conflict, he began his career in 1952 with the Soil Conservation Service in the Quincy Field Office. He move to Green e Co. in June of 1959 and retired in Dec. 30, 1983 as District Conservationist with 37 years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the Bodley Masonic Lodge No. 1 of Quincy and Quincy Consistory, American Legion Post #114 of Carrollton, and the Soil Conservation Society. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years and son Mark of Denver, Co., sisters: Ruby Bowman and Sandra Reeder both of Quincy, brothers and sisters in law and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Roxine Stranckmeyer and Rosella Bowman and 1 brother William Reeder. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Sat. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 P.M. In accordance with his wishes his body will be cremated. Memorial may be made to Blessing Hospice of Quincy or the Illinois Veterans Home.

Mr. Henry Freeman Rexroat
Henry Freeman Rexroat, 81, of Jacksonville, died Saturday morning, February 1, 2003, at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. He was born on March 22, 1921, in Arcadia, the son of Edward F. and Elsie Neill Rexroat. He married Grace Jeannette Wankel Smith on November 5, 1960 at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Pamela Jane (husband, Richard) Smith Hawkins of Manchester; two grandsons, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda A. Rexroat and Ruth Rexroat, both of Literberry; and one niece. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Way, and three brothers, Eugene Rexroat, Allan Rexroat, and Paul Rexroat. Mr. Rexroat was a union carpenter for over 55 years. He worked for Lawrence Taylor Construction in Jacksonville, and later at Eilers Brothers Construction in Washington, and at Eureka College. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring fine antiques, and yardwork. Mr. Rexroat was a member of the Church of Our Saviour. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2003, at the Church of Our Saviour, with burial at Arcadia Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Scott County Nursing Center.

Mrs. Nina Marie Richey (Kroush)
Nina Marie Kroush Richey, 93, of Jacksonville, died Saturday evening, June 7, 2003, at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born December 10, 1909 in Rhodelia, Kentucky, the daughter of Edward F. and Eddie Lena Basham Kroush. She married Francis Richey on March 1, 1969 and he preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Louise (husband, Dr. Robert E.) Lee of Waverly; one sister-in-law, Margaret Kroush of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; one step-daughter, Phyllis Moomey of Taylorville; four step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Kroush. Mrs. Richey graduated from Waverly Township High School and Brown’s Business College. She was first employed at Hieronymus Brothers doing bookkeeping and accounting, and later at Waddell’s Department Store in the business office and as a saleslady. She continued her education and graduated from the Jacksonville State Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1935 and worked at that facility until 1942. At that time she joined the United States Navy Nurse Corps. Mrs. Richey was first stationed as a Ward Nurse at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. She then was promoted to Assistant Chief Nurse and served at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oceanside, California, then the U.S. Fleet Hospital in Banika British Solomon Island in the Southwest Pacific. She then served at the U.S. Fleet Hospitals #105 and #107 in New Caledonia and served two tours of duty at the U.S. Naval Hospital in the Great Lakes. She was next stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the psychiatric ward, than at the U.S. Naval Dispensary at Key West, Florida as Chief Nurse. Mrs. Richey also was stationed at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Bethesda, Maryland, the U.S. Naval Dispensary at Long Beach, California, and the U.S. Naval Hospital at Bremerton, Washington as assistant Chief Nurse. Mrs. Richey was next assigned to the U.S. Naval Hospital at Argentia, Newfoundland as chief nurse and at the hospital at Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Mrs. Richey served a total of 24 years, entering as Registered Nurse and retiring as Commander of the Nurse Corps, U.S.N. on October 31, 1964, having been appointed through the ranks by merit. Mrs. Richey was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. There will be no visitation. Private committal services will be held at Waverly East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Episcopal Church. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Golman Roady Jr.
Thomas Golman Roady, Jr., 84, of Carrollton died at Jerseyville Hospital at 5 P.M. on Sunday March 30, 2003. He was born in Kane, Ill. on April 27, 1918 to Thomas and Lela Roady. He married Jeanne Dixon on Feb. 6, 1943 in Kane, Ill. and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He attended and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Illinois College and graduated from the University of Illinois Law School with honors. He received a Masters Degree of Law at Columbia University in New York in 1949. He practiced law in Carrollton, Ill. in the early part of his career, but spent a major portion of his life as a teacher of law at Vanderbilt University School of Law and the University of Tennessee School of Law. He was chosen as Outstanding Professor of the Year at the University of Tennessee for his compassionate concern for each student. He was interim Dean at the Law School of Washington University and in his later years as an Associate Dean of Law and was responsible for starting the School of Law at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Green e Co. 7th Judicial District and retired from the bench in 1989. He served in the Army Air Corps retiring as a Lt. Colonel and was in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force as Judge Advocate (Major) in 1948 and served in various capacities as JAG Officer from 1948-1968. Total service, 26 years. He retired in 1968 with the rank of Colonel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Jeannette M. Wise of Roswell, Ga. and Mary Roady Baker of Franklin, TN. and a son Thomas G. Roady III of Nashville, TN. and wife Kristin and 6 grandchildren: David, Mary, Chase, Paige, Matthew and Catherine. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday April 1st at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Wednesday at 1 P.M. Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the District 1 Foundation for Quality Education Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Kenneth Wilbur Servoss
Kenneth Wilbur Servoss, 68, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2003, at his residence. He was born on May 10, 1934, in Morgan County, the son of Claude W. and Marie A Sayre Servoss. He is survived by one brother, Claude G. Servoss of Jacksonville; two sisters, Kathryn E. Lomelino and Marie Louise Donovan, both of Jacksonville; his special guardian, Marilyn Lawless of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen E. Servoss and Harold W. Servoss; and two sisters, Helen M. Servoss and Marjorie A. Servoss. Mr. Servoss was active at Pathway and participated in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed animals and music. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pathway Services Unlimited. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marian R. Seymour (Ranson)
Marian R. Seymour, 72 of Sycamore, IL. died Friday , Jan 31,2003 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. She was born March 21,1930 in Jacksonville, IL. The daughter of Viron Z. and Barbara R. (MacLamar) Ranson. She married Dean V. Seymour on Jan 22, 1950 in Jacksonville. She was a graduate of Franklin High School, Class of 1948. She attended Mac Murray College and received her Bachlor of Science degree in Education at NIU in 1967. Marian was an Elementary school teacher for 30 years. Teaching in Paw Paw ,Riley Union, Marengo and Watermen, IL .She also owned and operated the Casa Mia Restaurant in Belvidere . She was a member of the Federal Church in Sycamore . She is survived by one son , Dan (Virgina) Seymour of DeKalb ; 3 Daughters ,Faye (Bob) Harkness of Long Lac, Ontario, Jane (Marv) Levinsky of DeKalb and Chris (Mike Miner) Sarver of Sycamore;8 Grand children ,Gwynith Seymour ,Kenneth and Steven Harkness , Andrew ,Angela and Allison Levinsky, David and Rachel Sarver ;one sister-in-law , Maryann Ranson of Franklin ,IL and her devoted companion , Clyde Cooper of Sycamore . She was preceded in death by her parents ;her husband on Oct 27, 1973 ; and one younger brother, James C. Ranson . Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 3 from 6-8:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home Sycamour, Il . Funeral service’s will be at 11 AM Wed., Feb. 5, 2003 at the Franklin Methodist Church in Franklin . Family will meet friends 1 hour prior to service time . Memorials are suggested to the family. Neece Funeral Home in Franklin is in change of arrangements.

Roderic D. Skinner
Roderic D. Skinner, 74, of St. Ann, Missouri and formerly of the Jacksonville area died Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town & Country, Missouri. He was born March 23, 1928 in Jacksonville the son of Milton and Ruth Nienhiser Skinner. He married Rose Luparell and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, David (wife, Chris) Skinner and Mike (wife, Ellen) Skinner; one daughter, Susan (husband, Joseph Jostes) Skinner; one granddaughter and one sister-in-law, Margo Skinner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton Skinner and Noel Skinner. Mr. Skinner had worked for Sears as a retail manager. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Grace Cemetery near Chapin. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Grace Cemetery.

Catherine Ann Smith
Catherine A. Smith, 95, of Glasgow passed away Thursday morning (February 13, 2003) at the Scott County Nursing Center. She was born September 13, 1907 in Pittsfield the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Belle Howe Garrett. She married Ray V. Smith July 12, 1925 in Winchester. He preceded her in death November 29, 1984. Also preceding her in death was her son Gary Smith (surviving wife Myrna of Hamilton, Illinois) a granddaughter Barbara Clark and 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Mrs. Smith attended Pittsfield Schools. She was the Postmistress for Glasgow for many years. She also worked at the Hainsfurther Clothing Store in Winchester. She was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and the Mission Society there. She was a founding member of the Glasgow Kitchen Band, where she played the colander, funnel, and sometimes the washboard. She helped for many years with the Glasgow Burgoo. Surviving are her daughters Zoe Sinamon of St. Louis, Sandra Conway of Kamloops, British Columbia, and her son Gordon Smith of Riddle, Oregon, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday (February 19, 2003) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery near Alsey. Friends may call after 4:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Glasgow Baptist Church.
