She was born in Taylorville, a daughter of William Edward and Virginia Seibert Fulkerson. Surviving are a brother, Larry Fulkerson of Flint, Mich.; step brothers, Larry Eggerman of Taylorville, Ernest Eggerman of Carthage, Texas; two step sisters, Donna Stephens of Taylorville and Nancy Eggerman of Nokomis. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fraley Cemetery, Taylorville. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Donald Howard Fuller, of Raymond, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Davis - Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Burial will be in Pairie Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 299. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Plainview Baptist Church. Mr. Fuller died at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999, in his home. He was 55 years old last December 6, and an Army veteran of Vietnam. He worked for the Department of Corrections for 27 years and retired as a captain at the John Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro. He was a member of Amvets Post 16 and VFW Post 3912 in Litchfield, American Legion Post 299 in Raymond, life member of Disabled American Veterans since 1986 and the Carlinville Moose Club. He was born in Anna, a son of Howard and Jennie Fuller. He married Bonnie Rosentreter on June 2, 1989, in Plainview. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Ron Morse and wife Margye of Carlinville, Scott Morse and wife Ada of Benld, George Morse of Staunton; daughters, Mary Walden and husband Carl of Hettick, Cora Remer and husband Ron of Gillespie; seven grandchildren, Bonnie and Cassie Hamm, Jamie Walden, Kelsey Morse, Willie Morse, Roxanne Remer and Christopher Walls. Preceding him in death was a brother, Wayne Fuller.

Services for Helen Reeves Fuller, of Coffeen, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Toberman Funeral Home there with the Rev. Lawrence Becker officiating. Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Fuller died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. She was 88 years old on November 24. She was a seamstres at the dress factory in Taylorville until she retired. She was born in Coffeen, a daughter of Lenious J. and Ida L. DeSart Reeves. She married Jess R. Fuller on November 26, 1927, in Coffeen. He died May 16, 1966. Surviving are a daughter, Darlene F. Huber of Hillsboro, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were sisters, Velma Whitlock and Ersa King.

She was a director of the Carmi Baptist Children's Home and a member of the East Fork Baptist Church. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of William E. and Nancy Haggin Kimbro. She married Dean W. Fuller on December 4, 1949, in Hillsboro. He survives. Surviving also a son, Grant Dean Fuller; daughters, Gloria Kirkpatrick and husband Eric of Normal, Gale Thacker and husband Ken of Coffeen, Gaye DeRight and husband Greg of Hillsboro, Glenda Huber of Sarasota, Fla., Ginger Buerkett and husband Mike of Staunton; brothers, Bruce Kimbro of Mattoon, Kenneth Kimbro of Pennsylvania, Harvey Kimbro of Coffeen, Ross Houck of St. Charles, Mo.; sisters, Patsy Steiner of Tampa, Fla., Geneva Kincken of Carlinville, Alvera Dawson of Alton, Mary Bowman of Carlinville; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Vernon C. Gan, of Coffeen, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield. He was 67 years old on January 10. He was an expediter for Granite City Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1975. He was active in the Shriner organization and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was born in Tennessee to Christopher A. and Lillian A. Mitchell Gan. He married Linda Williams Combs on August 24, 1978, in Granite City. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Vernon Gan Jr. and wife Cindy of Livingston, Norman Gan and wife Karla of Green ville, Tony Gan and wife Tammy of Green ville, Mark Gan and wife Kim of St. Peters; step children, Jackie Combs of Coffeen, Jaye Brandon of Montgomery, Texas, Jeff Combs of Coffeen; brother, Gary Gan and wife Ruth of Bunker Hill; sister, Patricia Robinson Gan of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, six step grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Graveside service was held Saturday in Griffith Cemetery at Brownstown. The family suggests memorials be directed to Shriners Hospital, St. Louis.

Interment of George L. Gannon, formerly of Hillsboro, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery. Bass Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gannon died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 1998, in Memorial Hospital at Sarasota, Fla. He was 84 years old on December 31. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Robert P. and Catherine Smith Gannon. He was a loan officer before his retirement. A niece, Barbara Kistler of Osprey, Fla., survives.

He was a coal miner for the Peabody Coal Company for 42 years and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America for more than 60 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville. He was born in Benton, a son of Mack and Della Fletcher Gant. He married Lillian Chance in 1934 in Benton. She died April 9, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Judy McKinnie and husband Raymond of Morrisonville; a brother, Henry Gant of West Frankfort; sisters, Beulah Daniels of Morrisonville, Rose Sanders of West Frankfort; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Services for Anna Marie Gardner, formerly of the local area, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Jacksonville Assembly of God Church, which she helped to found. They suggest memorials be directed to the Jacksonville Assembly of God. Mrs. Gardner died Saturday morning, March 13, 1999, in her home in Jacksonville. She was 87 years old on November 5. She worked as a book binder at the Bound To Stay Bound Book Bindery for several years. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of Louis and Barbara Dubernick Luketich, and married the Rev. W.A. Gardner on April 30, 1932, in Litchfield. They founded the First Assembly of God Church of Jacksonville in 1939. He died December 25, 1978. She remained a lifelong member of the church. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Jean Vignone of Jacksonville; a brother, Louie Luketich of St. Louis; sister, Katherine Syes of Springfield; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Warren Richard in infancy; daughter, Louis McHatton; brothers, John, Mike and George; sisters, Barbara, Elsa and Rose.

Mr. Garland, of Green ville, died Friday, October 29, 1999, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Findlay, Ohio. He was 88 years old on March 25. He worked for Marathon Pipeline Company in Wood River and Brownstown before he retired. Son of Homer and Lottie Cearlock Garland, he moved to Sorento as a child and attended schools there. He married Pearl E. Frost on June 13, 1937, in Sorento; she died January 19, 1991. Surviving are a son, Herbert H. Garland of Macomb, Ohio; brother, Denver Garland of St. Louis; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a sister, Etta Yureko.

He was 67 years old on August 27, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a financial counselor for many years, and owned and operated Counselors of Credit in Springfield from 1967 to 1975 when he retired. He was a past director of the Illinois Association of Credit Counselors, member of the board of Consumer Credit Counselors, and an adviser to the Governor and General Assembly on consumer credit matters. He was born in Springfield, a son of Clyde R. and Lillian Smith Gass. Surviving are another brother, Gorden G. Gass of Granite City; sisters, Esther Quinn of Virden, Ruth Combs of Girard and Helen Felts of Mauston, Wis.

He was a military aircraft electrician for 20 years before he retired, and a member of Morrisonville American Legion Post 721. He was born in Illiopolis, a son of Ernst Ray and Alice M. Stead Gates. His wife, the former Judith J. Clevenger, survives. Surviving also are sons, James R. Gates Jr. of Clairmont, Robert L. Gates of Morrisonville, Timothy M. Gates of Virginia Beach, Va., Mark A. Mrs. Gates died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 1998, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. She was 76 years old on May 26. She resided in Irving most of her life, and worked as a bartender at the Irving Town Tavern for approximately 20 years. She was a graduate of Irving High School. She was born in Decatur, a daughter of Homer and Mary Kruzan Rebman. She married Willis Gates in 1941, in St. Louis. He was killed in action during World War II. Surviving are daughters, Rose Bard of Coffeen, Donna West and husband Gene of Destin, Fla.; a son, Paul H. Gates and wife Louise of Hillsboro; a brother, Thomas Rebman of Killeen, Texas; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Among other survivors is Carl Taylor of Irving, a dear friend. A brother, Homer Rebman, Jr., preceded her in death.

Clifford Franklin Gauble, Jr., formerly of Morrisonville, died Sunday, November 22, 1998, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was 78 years old on March 26, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was president of the State Bank of Girard for several years and later president of Community Bank of Salem before he retired in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion. He was born in Morrisonville, a son of Clifford Franklin, Sr., and Eulalia Clickener Gauble. His wife, the former Eleanor Soland, survives. Surviving also are sons, Michael Gauble of Medord, N.J. and Lance Gauble of Decatur; one grandchild and one great grandchild. Services will be held at Saturday in Decatur. Moran and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He worked for the Illinois Central railroad as a gang foreman before he retired, and was a member of the Bethel Temple Church of Vandalia. He was born in Vandalia, a son of Charlie and Annabelle Guffey Gelsinger. married three times, both Agnes McKoy and Glovina Augustine preceded him in death. Surviving is Gladys Holbrook, whom he married on April 5, 1980, in Vandalia. Surviving also are daughters, Pat Stumborg of Effingham, Linda Morgan and husband Ed of Florida, Sharon Springer and husband William of Effingham, Sue Drewers and husband Jerry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerrie Sturmard and husband Don of Bement; step daughters, Brenda Meyer of Vandalia, Jean Jones of Florida, Mary Ellen Oldham of Vandalia; step sons, Delbert Blankenship and wife Barbara of Morehead, Ky., Kenny Blankenship and wife Sherry of Mt. He was a 1972 graduate of Auburn High School and a graduate of Lincoln Land Community College. He was born in Springfield, a son of Arthur L. and Annebelle Molohon Gentry. Surviving are his fiancee, Shannon Wooten of Farmersville; sons, Nicolas Gentry of Springfield, William and Jacob Wooten of Farmersville; a daughter, Amanda Wooten of Farmersville; father, Arthur L. Miss Gerdes died Thursday, October 29, 1998, in Carlinville Hospital. She was 42 years old on January 25. She was head cashier at the National Food Store in Litchfield. A 1974 graduate of Litchfield High School, she attended Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, for two years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Clifford H. and Mary I. Vaughn Gerdes. Surviving are her parents, of Litchfield; brothers, Gary Gerdes and wife Sharon, Lonnie Gerdes and wife Linda, all of Litchfield; sister, Arlene Haltman and husband Perry of Litchfield. Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, George and Pearl Sharp Vaughn and paternal grandparents, Fred and Ricke Flitz Gerdes. Services for Jo Ann Nadine Gerdes, of Litchfield, were held at noon Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church. The Revs. Donald Langhoff and Dwight Weber officiated. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Olive. During the service Keith Marburger, organist, accompanied the congregation as they sang "Just As I Am" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Duane Gerdes, Matt Gerdes, Ed Koertge, Lee Lankutis, Warren Wolfe, all of Litchfield, and Jeremy Welsh of Waggoner. Following the services a meal was provided for family and friends by Zion Ladies Aid. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Gerdes, 42, died Thursday, October 29, in Carlinville Hospital.

Mr. Gerlach died at 11:23 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 1998, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 72 years old on November 20, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He had been retired for almost 20 years and before he retired, he worked for 27 years at Hussman Refrigeration in St. Louis. During his military service, from October 27, 1943, to May 16, 1946, he served aboard a crash rescue boat in the Philippine Islands. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Harold "Harry" and Esther Petra Gerlach. He married Joyce Pfaender on June 18, 1949, in St. Agatha's Catholic Church, St. Louis. She died March 4, 1993. Surviving are sons, Kenneth W. Gerlach, Jr., and wife Linda of Washington, D.C. and London, England, Paul A. Gerlach and wife Toni of St. Peters, Mo., Jeffry G. Gerlach and wife Beverly of Coffeen; sister, Delores Lesniewski of St. Louis; brother, Claud "Red" Gerlach of St. Louis; and two granddaughters, Kate and Anna Gerlach. Preceding him in death were a brother, Harold Gerlach and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Gerlach.

She was born in Benld, a daughter of Peter and Modesta Giustat DeStefane. She married Donald Gibbons on August 23, 1947, in St. Joseph's Church at Benld. He survives. Surviving, besides her husband and son, are daughters, Geraldine Gibbons of Benld, Jackie Kokoszka of Ottawa; brother, Edward DeStefane of Benld; sister, Sabina Brunetto of Benld. Preceding her in death were brothers, Also and Cablo DeStefane.
Getz, Clifford O.
Services for Clifford O. Getz, of Nokomis, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sutton Funeral Home there with the Rev. Edmund Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Getz died at 12:54 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 82 years old on September 1. He was a farmer before he retired, and a member of the Rosamond Baptist Church. He was born in Coffeen, a son of Ora and Molly Marley Getz. He married Ruth McCaslin on December 23, 1931, in St. Charles. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Gail Berner and husband Clarence of Sauk City, Wis., Terri Randles and husband Michael of Decatur; sisters, Ruth Ondrey of Hillsboro, Marie Diethl of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Giavaras, John
John Giavaras, who visited the area many times on behalf of Lincoln Land Community College, died Tuesday, January 26, 1999, in St. John's Hospital. He was 73 years old on June 3. He was employed by the college for 21 years and retired as vice president of community relations. He had resided in Springfield since 1971 where he was active in Rotary, in Crimestoppers having been a charter member and director on the state board, and in the Masons. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Seabees. He was born in Lowell, Mass., a son of Constantine and Fotoula Kostoulakos Giavaras. He married Nina Patsuris in 1963. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Frances Giavaras of Springfield; son, Dean Giavaras of Park Ridge; a brother, Steve Giavaras of Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Mary Kalivas of Lowell, Mass.; and two grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony's Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church, Springfield. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.
Gibbons, Shirley J.
Funeral Mass for Shirley J. Gibbons, of Gillespie, will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Father Patrick Gibbons. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie. Friends may call in Kravanya Funeral Home on Wednesday from 8:30 until one half hour before the service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Gibbons died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 63 years old last October 23. She was born in Carlinville, a daughter of Pearl and Anna Kohl Allen. She married Francis P. Gibbons on November 10, 1952, in Carlinville in St. Mary's Church. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Brian Gibbons of Phoenix, Ariz., John Gibbons of Cape Coral, Fla.; daughters, Linda Haddad of Gillespie, Connie Wenzel of Mt. Clare, Carol Nation, Gail Dufner and Lisa Broom of Gillespie; brothers, Roy Allen of Girard, Robert Allen of Gillespie, Pearl "Bud" Allen of Alton, Harold Allen of Texas; sisters, Helen Bast of Gillespie, Pat Tretter of Auburn, Maxine Bloome of Girard, Wanda Helgen of East Alton; and 11 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were sisters, Elizabeth Jennings, Virginia Hancock; and two grandchildren, Melissa Renee and Ashley Jean Wenzel.
Gibson, Margaret T.
Margaret T. Gibson, mother of John Gibson of Gillespie, died Thursday, August 26, 1999, in Carlinville Hospital. A resident of Plainview, she was 90 years old on July 19. She was born in Macoupin county, a daughter of John W. and Martha Fones Davis. She married George E. Gibson in 1927, in Carlinville. He survives. Surviving besides son John are four other sons, Harold Gibson of Carlinville, George Gibson of Plainview, Bill Gibson of Girard, Elmer Dean Gibson of Foosland; daughters, Evelyn Drew of Palmyra, Dorothy Taul of Brighton, Mary Loy of Medora; 29 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Services were held this morning in Shipman at the Targhetta Funeral Home with burial in the Shipman Cemetery.
