Griffiths, Velma L.

Velma LaVerne Griffiths, mother of Eileen Katich of Gillespie, died Monday, June 14, 1999, in Seiling Nursing Center at Seiling, Okla. She was 71 years old on March 2. While living in Illinois, she worked as a file clerk for the state and was a licensed foster parent. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Girard. She moved to Seiling in 1995. She was born in Modesto, a daughter of James Joseph and Edith Irene Walkington Broffey. Her husband, Lee Griffiths, whom she married in 1948 in Macoupin County, preceded her in death. Surviving are daughters, Janice List of Mason City, Paula Griffiths and Patti Burchmiler, both of Seiling; sons, Freddie Griffiths and wife Sheila of Carlinville, Larry Griffiths and wife Debbie of Riverton; another sister, BErnice Sullivan of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; brother, Donald Broffey of Spring, Texas; 12 grandchildren, a step granddaughter, two foster grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services are being held Friday morning in Seiling at the Redinger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Brumfield Cemeter there.

Grigsby, Joyce May

Joyce May Grigsby, of Hillsboro, died at 8:35 p.m. Monday, August 2, 1999, in her home. She was 74 years old on April 30. She attended school in Beaumont, Calif., worked as a clerk at a Disabled Americans thrift store, and was employed in the civil service. She was born in Oklahoma, a daughter of Harold Wesley and Bertha Mae Grissom Blackerby. Her husband, Teddy Jo Burton, preceded her in death in 1983. Surviving are daughters, Judylyn Freienmuth of Glendale, Ariz., Kathleen Jo Foster and Melany Murray, both of Fillmore; sisters, Helen Robinson of Imperial, Calif., Betty Young of California; brothers, Dick and Dennis Blackerby, both of Calif.; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, Johnny Blackerby and a sister, Dorothy Wolhford. No services are planned. The remains are to be cremated with Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Grimes, Jesse E.

Services for Jesse E. Grimes, of Irving, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis, with Rev. Mary Etta Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Grimes died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. He was 87 years old on May 6. He was a farmer and a member of St. Mark's Church. He was born in Audubon Township, a son of John and Della Peacher Grimes. His wife, the former Leona Keiser, died August 26, 1978. Surviving are four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, John E. Grimes Jr. on August 28, 1999, and two brothers, Harry and Charles Grimes.

Services for John E. Grimes, Jr., of Irving, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Stiehl - Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Grimes died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 1999, in Irving. He was 61 years old on November 11. He was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenters and Laborers Local 742. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was born in Witt, a son of Jesse E. and Helen Crutcher Grimes. His first wife, the former Beverly Sexton, died in December 1996. His second marriage, to Patricia DeWerff, ended in divorce. Surviving are sons, John William Grimes and wife Angie of Taylorville, Todd Grimes of Taylorville; daughters, Debra Bugg and husband Craig of Butler, Judy Kotoch and husband Ed of Las Vegas, Nevada; his father, Jesse Grimes; half brother, Jack Lynch of Witt; half sisters, Imogene Miller of Fillmore, Mary McGlothlin of Litchfield; and four grandchildren. Others surviving include a companion, MaryLou Kramer of Hillsboro. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Angela at birth; mother, Helen Grimes on August 26, 1978; and a half brother, Robert Lynch in 1975.

Grimm, Minnie Amelia

Services for Minnie Amelia Grimm, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Lellelid, interim pastor of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. Miss Grimm died at 8:20 this morning, Friday, August 28, 1998, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. She was 94 years old on October 16. She was a homemaker and babysat for several Litchfield families. She also did housekeeping and took care of several elderly people in their homes. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Louis Henry and Anna Galster Grimm, and was the last of her family. Preceding her in death were brothers, Albert and William Grimm and a sister, Mary Weatherford. Also preceding her in death was a step father, James Wright. Surviving are a niece and nephew, Shirley Longhelt of Alexandria, Va., and Bill Weatherford of Dallas, Texas.

Grisham, E. Faye

Services for E. Faye Grisham, formerly of Sorento, will be held at 7 p.m. today in the First Christian Church of Nego. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento. Mrs. Grisham died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 1999, in Heartland Christian Village, Neoga. She was 85 years old on September 18. She was born in Sorento, a daughter of Augustas W. and Lydia Jane Gordon Reed. She married Archie G. Grisaham on April 1, 1933, in Sorento. He died May 31, 1977. Surviving are a son, Richard G. Grisham of Mahomet; daughters, Sherrie A. Coen of Neoga, Linda L. Grose of Mattoon; brothers, Gerald Reed of Granite City, Raymond Reed of Belleville; sister, Doris Dailey of Sorento; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were two daughters, nine brothers and sisters and a grandson.

Grosenheider, Elton Leo

Elton Leo Grosenheider, formerly of Litchfield, died Saturday, September 5, 1998, in Clear Creek County, Colo. He was 61 years old on June 11. He retired from the American Telephone and Telegraph after 30 years of service as an engineer. He held a bachelor's degree in engineering from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Ester Grosenheider. He married Dorothy May on September 14, 1958, in Litchfield. Both his mother, now of Round Rock, Texas, and his wife survive. Surviving also are a son, Craig Grosenheider and wife Susan of Fort Hood, Texas; brothers, Del Grosenheider and wife Margaret of Austin, Texas, Larry Grosenheider and wife Elena of Round Rock, Gary Grosenheider of Austin, Kevin Grosenheider and wife Elaine of San Marcos, Texas, Terry Grosenheider and wife Avi of Madison, Wis., Brent Grosenheider and wife Donna of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Peggy Crary and husband Terry of Hillpoint, Wis. Services were held September 9 in the Parker United Methodist Church at Parker, Colo. Burial was in the Parker Cemetery.

Grosenheider, Helen

Services for Helen Grosenheider, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church there with the Rev. Terry Breum officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Becker and Son Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Mt. Olive Academic Foundation, Zion Lutheran Church or the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Mrs. Grosenheider died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Gillespie. She was 88 years old on December 6. She was worked at Jubelt's Bakery for a time. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Mt. Olive Senior Citizens and Mt. Olive Civic Center. She attended St. John's Lutheran School in South Litchfield and was baptized Dec. 18, 1910 and confirmed on May 24, 1925, at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was born in South Litchfield, a daughter William and Wilhelmine Birkenkamp Sewing. She married Oliver Grosenheider on October 10, 1936, in Oak Lawn. He died December 27, 1986. Surviving are a son, William Grosenheider and wife Margaret of Mt. Olive; daughters, Lois Milhelcic and husband John, Judy Fellin and husband Fred, Marla Zubal, all of Mt. Olive; a brother, Arnold Sewing and wife Sally of White City; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, William Sewing and sisters, Esther Sewing, Laura DeVries and Frieda Drewell. Services for Helen Grosenheider, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church there. The Rev. Terry Breum officiated. Eulogy was given by a granddaughter, Tammy Senko. Soloist Patsy Eccher sang "How Great Thu Art." The church choir sang "Rock of Ages" and "Old Rugged Cross." The congregation sang "Abide with Me." Elda Prange was organist and pianist. Pallbearers were Kevin Mihelcic, Ken Mihelcic, John Mihelcic, Jeb Brines, Scott Senko, Kevin Nafiger. Burial was in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Following the services a lunch was served to family and friends in the Mt. Olive Area Veterans Hall, served by the women of the church. Mrs. Grosenheider, 88, died Wednesday, September 29, in Heritage Manor of Gillespie.

Grosenheider, Junas

Junas Grosenheider, formerly of the Litchfield area, died June 2, 1998, in Wisconsin. He was 84 years old last June 14. He farmed in the Litchfield, Hillsboro and Waggoner areas for many years before moving to Wisconsin where he ran a dairy farm near Wonewac. He was born in the New Douglas area, a son of John and Catherine Grosenheider. Surviving are eight children, Terry, Larry, Gary, Brent, Kevin, Delno, Elton and Peggy; a sister, Romelda Morris of Troy; and brother, John Grosenheider of Arizona. Preceding him in death were brothers and sisters, Lydia Schmidt, Sarah Peters, Emarine Ryan, Juanita May, Ernie, Walter and Clarence Grosenheider. Services will be held in Wisconsin.

Grotts, Robert F.

Memorial service for Robert Franklin Grotts, of rural Hillsboro, will be held at noon Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro with the Rev. Matthew Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call in the church on Saturday after 10 a.m. Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Grotts died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1999, in his home. He was 47 years old last March 7. He was a teacher at the Chrismont Safe School in Morrisonville, with Lincoln Land Community College in G.E.D. programs and also as a substitute teacher throughout Montgomery County. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1969, he earned a bachelor's degree at Millikin University and a master's degree from Eastern Illinois University. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Lions Club. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Claude and Margaret Latham Grotts. Surviving are his parents; brother, Charles Grotts and wife Barbara of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Sally Walker and husband Terry of Mountain Home, Ark.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Grove, Agnes L.

Agnes L. Grove, mother of Lodema States and husband Bill of Hillsboro, died at 11:46 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 1998, in her home in rural Cisne. Mrs. Grove, 74 years old on October 11, was born in Boyleston, a daughter of Henry Oval and Altha Mae Gergory Turner. She paried Pearlie W. Grove on September 25, 1948, in Fairfield. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Aubrey Grove of Algona, Iowa, and four grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Cisne with burial in the Cisne Cemetery.

Grubb, Phineas Ivan

Services for Phineas Ivan Grubb, of Waggoner, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Hough Funeral Home, Raymond, with the Rev. Herbert Goeltzer officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Farmersville - Waggoner Ambulance. Mr. Grubb died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 82 years old on December 13. He was a farmer and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Raymond. He was born in Waggoner, a son of Harry and Jenny Brown Gurbb. He married Geneieve Long on January 25, 1938, in Hillsboro; she died September 25, 1989. He married Margaret McClean of Waggoner on February 20, 1999; she survives. The last of his family, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Wayne Grubb.

Gruenloh, Irene A.

Funeral Mass for Irene A. Gruenloh, of rural Walshville and formerly of the Donnellson area, will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Florissant, Mo., by the Rev. Father Tom Miller. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday in Perfetti Funeral Home, Panama, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday in the Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant from 3 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Gruenloh died unexpectedly at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 89 years old on August 15. She was a resident of Florissant for most of her life, and a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society of the church. She was born in Florissant, a daughter of Henry and Angela Grotte Ebbesmeyer, and married Anton Gruenloah there on April 29, 1931. He died April 16, 1986. Surviving are sons, Melvin Gruenloh of rural Donnellson, Paul Gruenloh of Florissant; daughter, Loretta Pezold of rural Walshville; sisters, Margie Hendel of Florissant, Mildred Henke of Forestel, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Gualandi, Dante J.

Services for Dante J. Gualandi, of Hillsboro, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Patton Memorial Home there with the Rev. Father David Schmidt, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Diabetes Association or to Cystic Fibrosis. Mr. Gualandi died at 7:06 this morning, Friday, November 12, 1999, in Montgomery Health Care Center, Taylor Springs. He was 90 years old on March 17. He left Schram City for East Chicago, Ind., in 1942 where he worked in combustion engineering. He moved to Whiting, Ind., in 1958. After his retirement he returned to live in Taylor Springs in 1975 and then moved to Hillsboro. He was born in Italy, a son of Sylvio and Maria Venturi Gualandi. He married Mabel Shelton on September 6, 1930, in Vandalia. She died January 17, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Dolores E. Borgetti and husband Ambrose of Whiting; brothers, Joe Gualandi of Hillsboro, Louis Gualandi of Taylor Springs; four grandsons and eight great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, Paul, Gino, Settemo and Calso Gualandi and sisters, Daisy Jarman and Catherine Johnston.

Gualandi, Lewey A.

Services for Lewey A. Gualandi, of Schram City, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Patton Memorial Home with the Rev. Randy Sands, of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Francis Hospice. Mr. Gualandi died at 6:46 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 1998, in his home. He was 55 years old on November 6. He worked for CIPS in Coffeen for 17 years and was a stores clerk. He was a Navy veteran, having served from 1960 to 1963. After discharge he settled in California where he was an ironworker for 17 years. He returned to Hillsboro in 1979. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 148, Ironworkers Local 46 in Illinois, Ironworkers Local 229 in San Diego, and a lifetime VFW Member. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Louis and Lillian Jones Gualandi, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in the class of 1960. He married Mary Whitt on November 30, 1963, in San Diego, Calif. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Shawna Bean and husband Dan of Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, Dana White of Hillsboro; his father, Louis Gualandi of Taylor Springs; brother, Gary Gualandi of Coffeen; sisters, Patsy Smith of Hillsboro, Debbie Page and husband Sam of Irving; and two grandchildren, Shelby White and Christopher Bean. His mother, Lillian, preceded him in death.

Gualandi, Mabel A.

Services for Mabel A. Gualandi, of Hillsboro, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Patton Memorial Home there with the Rev. Father Dave Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Mrs. Gualandi died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, January 17, 1999, in Montgomery Health Care Center. She was 85 years old on August 19. She resided in Schram City until moving to Chicago in 1942. From there she and her husband moved to Whiting, Ind., in 1958. After his retirement, they moved to Taylor Springs in 1975 and then to Hillsboro. She was a daughter of Julius and Bertha Carter Shelton. She married Dante J. Gualandi on September 8, 1930, in Vandalia. He survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Dolores E. Borgetti and husband Ambrose of Whiting; a brother, Charles Shelton of Teaneck, N.J.; four grandchildren, Michael Borgetti of Whiting, David Borgetti of Rockford, Richard Borgetti of Dyer, Ind., James Borgetti of St. John, Ind.; and eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were sisters, Goldie Boyer, Ruth Taylor and Helen Norris and brothers, Albert and George Shelton.

Guckian, Wanda G.

Memorial service for Wanda Gial Guckian, of Coffeen, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Toberman Funeral Home there with the Rev. Tim Woodard officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service. Mrs. Guckian died in a fire at her home on Saturday, August 7, 1999. She was 48 years old on December 15. She was a certified nursing assistant employed at Hillsboro Hospital. She was born in Springfield, a daughter of Ralph Morris and Ielene Knoles McLaughlin. She married Bruce Ira Guckian on June 6, 1998, in Litchfield. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Tim Mount of Coffeen; step son, Garrod Guckian of Witt; step daughter, Cathy Guckian of Witt; her mother, Ilene Burris of Hillsboro; brother, Ralph McLaughlin of Hillsboro; sister, Janet White of Coffeen; half brother, David Doyen of Fillmore; half sisters, Beverly Grindley of Coffeen and Judy Eichelberger of Litchfield; and one grandchild, Dylan Mount. Preceding her in death were her father, Ralph McLaughlin and a half sister, Doris Green wood.

Guidish, John L.

Services for John Louis Guidish, were held Saturday in McCracken Funeral Home, Pana. Burial was in Mound Cemetery there. Mr. Guidish, of Decatur, died at 6:48 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1999, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was 51 years old on March 24. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc., and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Decatur. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War and retired from the Army Reserves 687th Supply and Service Battalion. He was born in Chicago, a son of George and Jessie Neismann Guidish, and graduated from Nokomis High School. He married Catherine June Allen on August 11, 1970, in Pana. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Brian Louis Guidish of Mt. Zion, Mark Alan Guidish of Decatur; daughter, Rebecca Nicole Guidish of Decatur; mother, Jessie Klee of Pana; brother, Beroge Guidish of Palmyra; sisters, Sue Kelspitz and Wendy Jones, both of Pana; and two granddaughters. His father, George Guidish, and an infant sister, Tena Marie, preceded him in death.

Guinn, Robert

Services for Robert "Bob" Guinn, of Schram City, will be held at noon Wednesday in Patton Memorial Home with the Rev. Dallas White, pastor of the Schram City Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Guinn died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 63 years old on August 6. He resided in Schram City for most of his life and was a cafeteria worker for Illinois Glass Company in Alton for approximately 20 years. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1962, and was a member Amvets. He was also a member of the Schram City Baptist Church and the Litchfield Moose Lodge. He was born in Taylor Springs, a son of Haskell "Hack" and Rose Esley Guinn. Surviving are daughters, Brenda Wagenblast and husband Dennis of Brighton, Pam Knipping and husband Greg of Godfrey; son, Brian Guinn and wife Tina of Litchfield; his mother, Rose Guinn of Schram City; brother, Larry Guinn and wife Lynn of Hillsboro; and four grandchildren.

Gunn, Anna

Services for Anna Gunn, of Hillsboro, were held at 1 p.m. today in Patton Memorial Home. The Rev. John Reynolds, interim pastor of the Redemption Center Assembly of God, Hillsboro, officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Gunn died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, August 28, 1998, in Hampton Nursing Home, Alhambra. She was 83 years old on June 18. She resided in Hillsboro all of her life, graduated from Hillsboro High School in the class of 1933, and worked as a cook at the high school cafeteria. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Lioness Club, Hillsboro Hospital Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Owen and Anna Hamilton Maxwell. She married Kenneth C. Gunn on May 14, 1939, in Hillsboro. He died January 2, 1974. Surviving are sons, Kenneth M. Gunn, Occie M.

Services for Occie M. Gunn, sister of Betty Rovey of Litchfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Davis - Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, with the Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Girard Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mrs. Gunn, of Girard, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 1999, in Doctor's Hospital, Springfield. She was 69 years old on August 11. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Litchfield. She was born in Auburn, a daughter of White and Dorothy Barnett VanHuss, and attended Virden schools through the eighth grade. She married Leo F. Gunn on July 14, 1967, in Girard. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Debra Kellums and husband Jim of Goreville, Becky Bortell and husband Vergil, of Girard; sons, Whitie Tipps and wife Joan, Roger Gunn and wife Linda, George Gunn, all of Girard, Charles Gunn of Carlinville; three other sisters, Katherine Lubben, Irene Kuntzman, both of Virden, Shirley Clevenger of Carlinville; brothers, Carl VanHuss of Girard, Jesse VanHuss of Palmyra, George and Wilbur VanHuss of Virden, Paul VanHuss of Aurora; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her oldest son, Don Tipps, preceded her in death on January 23, 1999.

Gunning, Charles F.

Services for Charles F. Gunning, of Carlinville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis - Anderson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Maxwell Jenning Carver officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday in the funeral home from noon until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Mr. Gunning died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 56 years old last December 27. He was a truck driver for more than 20 years. An Army veteran he spent most of his service time in France. He was born in Carlinville, a son of George and Thelma Scott Gunning. He married Janice Rutherford in December 1966 in Carlinville. She survives. Surviving also are a son, John Gunning of Rome, Ga.; daughter, Angie Marie Morgan of Carlinville; mother, Thelma Gunning of Carlinville; brothers, Earl and Art Gunning of Carlinville, Ronald Gunning of Rockbridge; sisters, Mary Dennis, Julia Friedrich, Rita Manning, Betty Branson, Josie Talkington, all of Carlinville; and one grandson, James Smith of Carlinville. Preceding him in death was a brother, Samuel Gunning.

Gunning, George S.

Memorial service for George S. Gunning, formerly of Butler, was held this morning in Davis - Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. The Rev. Dan Edwards officiated. Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Carlinville. Mr. Gunning died Thursday, August 19, 1999, in his home in Carlinville. He was 87 years old on May 7. He worked as a bottler at Prairie Farms Dairy in Carlinville before he retired. He was born in Butler, a son of George M. and Mary Ann Borders Gunning. He married Edna Mae Wilson in 1936; she survives. Surviving also are sons, John Gunning of Carlinville, Tom Gunning of Brighton; daughter, Edna Frazier of Carlinville; brother, Earl Gunning of Carlinville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Guntren, Frank A.

Frank A. Guntren, father of Jeff Guntren of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, November 24, 1998, in his home in Godfrey. He was 64 years old on April 27. He served in the Air Force Reserve for 20 years, was an active supporter of the NRA, member of the Alton Wood River Sportsman's Club, the Jerseyville Moose, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Illinois Pilot A ssociation and a charter member of the Jerseyville Airport Club. He was born in Rosedale, a son of John and Floy Johnston Guntren. He married Ruth Saale Bowers on January 19, 1985, in Godfrey. she survives. Surviving also, besides Jeff Guntren and wife Terri, are three other sons, John Guntren and wife Susan of Green County, F. Gordon Guntren and wife Terri of Dow, David Guntren and wife Laura of Elmira, N.Y.; daughter, Susan Crone and husband Breion of Brighton; two step sons and three step daughters.
