Services for Ethel May Karrick, of Lake KaHo, Mt. Olive, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Becker and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Mrs. Karrick died Tuesday, January 26, 1999, in her home. She was 70 years old on April 30. She was office manager at Woods & Sons Grocery in Whitehouse, Ohio, before retiring and moving to Lake KaHo. She was also a member of the Methodist Church in Whitehouse. She was born in Wanda, Ill., a daughter of Herman and Theresa Epping Linkeman. She married Robert Lee Karrick in Grenada, Miss., on April 30, 1946. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Terry Karrick of Kirkland, Wash.; brothers, Herbert Linkeman of Kendall Hill, Alvin LInkeman of Wanda, Charles Linkeman of Rolla, Mo., Ralph Linkeman of Charlotte, Mich.; a sister, Mabel Chatham of Wood River.
Karth, Marguerite W.
Marguerite W. Karth, formerly of Witt, died Wednesday, May 20, in Heritage Manor of Bloomington. She was 92 years old on June 21. She was born in Ohlman, a daughter of John and Arminta Baxter Lowe, and married Walter J. Meyer on July 14, 1925, in Witt. He died May 24, 1971. She later married Paul Karth on September 17, 1981, in Florida. He died December 22, 1989. Surviving are a son, John W. Meyer of Bloomington and two grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Services for Clara Kasalko, of Staunton, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father George Radosevich officiating. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church of Staunton. Mrs. Kasalko died at noon Thursday, October 7, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Staunton. She was 86 years old on January 31. She worked as a retail clerk in the hat department of Famous - Barr in St. Louis for a time and was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Bellefountaine Neighbors, Mo. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of Henry and Hulda Adler Menke. She married Joseph R. Kasalko in September 1938; he died in June 1969. Surviving are sons, William Kasalko of St. Louis, Joseph Kasalko of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Linda Makler, Elsie Mader, both of Staunton; brother, William Menke of Gillespie; and two grandsons, Jeffrey and David Kasalko. Preceding her in death were brothers, Rudy and George Menke and a sister, Marie Lambert.

Friends may call on Friday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Benld, from noon until 1:30 p.m. Miss Kasich died at 12:45 p.m. Monday, March 15, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Staunton. She was 83 years old on June 19. She was a seamstress and worked out of her home. She was born in Benld, a daughter of Nicholas and Eva Rusinyiak Kasich, and the last of her family. Preceding her in death were a brother, William Kasich and a sister, Helen Kasich. Surviving are cousins, Ann Pellock of Edwardsville and William Kasich of Litchfield.

She was 78 years old on January 28. She was employed as a seamstress before she retired and was a member of the Holy Dormition Church. She was born in Benld, a daughter of Nicholas and Eva Rusinyiak Kasich, and never married. Surviving is a sister, Anna Kasich. Other survivors include cousins, Ann Pellock of Edwardsville and William Kasich of Litchfield. Preceding her in death was a brother, William Kasich.
Kastelic, Joseph
Joseph Kastelic, formerly of the area, died Monday, September 13, 1999, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville. He was 79 years old on September 17, and a veteran of World War II. A coal miner, he worked at the mines in Farmersville and Coffeen before he retired. He was born in Lovington, a son of Joseph and Mary Lokar Kastelic Sr. He married Norma Jouglet in 1940 in St. Louis. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Ronald Kastelic of Taylorville, John Kastelic of Mahomet; daughter, Connie Mortland of Taylorville; sister, Rose Jurchochek of Spring Hills, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services were held this morning in Taylorville with burial in Old Stonington Cemetery.

Services for Lorene Kasubke, of Staunton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church there with the Rev. Leslie J. Mitkos officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Williamson Funeral Home, Staunton. The family suggests memorials be directed to either the Zion Memorial Fund or the Staunton Ambulance Service. Mrs. Kasubke died at 1:06 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. She was 94 years old on October 18. She was employed as a teacher in the Staunton Public School System from 1923 to 1930. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, its Ladies Aid and the Lydia Sewing Circle. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of Fred and Louise Shaeper Morgan. She married Henry Kasubke on September 14, 1930, in Staunton. He died February 10, 1984. The last of her family, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Leona Morgan, Lucile Fuihrken and Helen Morgan. Several nieces and nephews survive.

She was 95 years old on May 14. She was born in Collinsville, a daughter of John and Agnes Jacobs. Her husband, Stanley Katauski, died in 1978. Surviving are a son, Joe Katauski and wife Freda along with three children, Mark Katauski, Jode Barrows and Lisa Moffett, all of Springfield, and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were an infant son, Stanley Katauski; sister, Eula Runta; brothers, John and Joe Jacobs.

He was 56 years old on May 13. He was a farmer and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Decatur. He was born in Montgomery County, a son of Lester and Pearl Cearlock Kates. His wife, the former Connies Jostes, survives. Surviving also are a son, Rob Kates Jr. of Rosamond; daughters, Shelli Foster , Lori Robinson and Melissa Strange, all of Bethany; his father, Lester Kates of Nokomis; brothers, Wayne Kates of Green ville, S.C., Jim Kates of Nokomis; sisters, Barb LaFeber, Ruth Ishmael, both of Nokomis, Linda Trader of Decatur; and 10 grandchildren.

He was assistant manager at the Mobil Service station in Litchfield, and a member of the Croatian Federation Union Lodge 217 of Benld. He was born in Staunton, a son of Robert and Myrna Craddick Katzmarek. Surviving are his father, Robert Katzmarek and wife Beverly of Godfrey; his mother, Myrna Katzmarek of Benld; brothers, James Robert Katzmarek of Litchfield and John Paul Katzmarek of Livingston.
Kayser, A. Wayne
A. Wayne Kayser, of Litchfield, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Litchfield Terrace. He was 79 years old on July 21, and an Army veteran of World War II. He had worked as a salesman in specialty advertising and also worked in communications for the Illinois State Police at the Litchfield station. He retired in 1983. During his military service he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a 1937 graduate of Litchfield High School. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Albert Charles and Mary Lavinia Searles Kayser. He married Betty Jean Linxwiler on December 25, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Jeff Kayser and wife Cathie of Houston, Texas; daughter, Cindy Sullivan and husband Chris of Elmhurst; and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a brother, Clayton S. Kayser. No services are planned. The remains have been donated to scientific study with Meinschein Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He was 67 years old on October 16, and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was owned and operated the Main Street Cafe in Benld until he retired. He was a member of VFW Post 4547 of Gillespie. He was born in Springfield, a son of Thomas Paul and Mary Rose Clancy Keeley. His wife, the former Carol Miller, survives. Surviving also are sons, Thomas J. Keeley of Springfield, Michael R.N. Keeley and wife Cheryl of St. Cloud, Minn.; daughters, Paula Bensko and husband Robert of Springfield, Karen K. McVickers of Chatham, Linda Kennedy and husband John of Glenarm; brothers, William Keeley of Springfield, Lawrence Keeley of South Bend, Ind., Donald Keeley of Streater; and 16 grandchildren.

Mrs. Kehnast died at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 1999, in her home. She was 50 years old on September 16. She was a beautician with 31 years of experience and was self-employed at Cathy's Cut-N-Curl in Livingston. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Betty Ann Bellovich DalPozzo. She married John Kehnast on May 2, 1970, in St. Michael's Catholic Church. He survives. Surviving also are a sister, Vicki Burgnone and husband Richard of Staunton; brother, Joe DalPozzo and wife Shirley of Livingston and their children. Preceding her in death was her mother, Betty Bellovich.

Lorena M. Keim, formerly of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, August 17, 1999, in Pontiac, Mich. She was 94 years old on July 30. She taught school in Hillsboro and Belleville, and was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. She was born in Cole City, a daughter of James and Edith M. Marketta McLean, and was reared in Hillsboro. She married Emmett R. Keim on June 18, 1930, in Hillsboro; he died in 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Lowe of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. along with four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceding her in death were sisters, Margaret Cress, Edith Ann Segar and an infant grandson. Committal service was held Saturday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Mrs. Kelley died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 73 years old on May 9. She was executive secretary in the administration office at St. Francis Hospital for several years until her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church of Mt. Olive and the Montgomery County Home Extension. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Stephen J. and Mary L. Novotney Katchmar, and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in the class of 1944. She married Bernard Anthony Kelley on October 18, 1947; he died November 6, 1995. Surviving are a son, Michael P. Kelley and wife Gladys of Caracas, Venezuela; daughter, Susan Kelley of Amboy; brothers, Richard Katchmar and wife Eileen of Decatur, Robert Katchmar and wife Barbara of Brentwood, Tenn.; and a grandson, Michael Ignacio Kelley of Caracas. Funeral Mass for Lorraine Rose Kelley, of Litchfield, was said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Trinity Church, Mt. Olive. The Rev. Ted Schelich, chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, presided. Servers were Daniel Dragovich and Christine Yancok. During the service Ruth Zubal was the organist. She accompanied the church choir while they sang "On Eagles Wings," "Ave Maria" and "Only a Shadow." Pallbearers were John Adden, Michael Katchmar, Michael John Katchmar, all of Mt. Olive, Stan Horst, Al Lopinot and Bob Sneed, all of Litchfield. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Mt. Olive. Following the committal service a luncheon was provided for the family and friends by the women of the church. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kelley, 73, died Thursday, December 23, in St. Francis Hospital.
Kenney, Quentin L.
Quentin L. Kenney, formerly of Hillsboro, died Friday, October 20, 1999, in his home in Prescott, Ariz. He was 86 years old on April 25. He was vice president in charge of purchasing for Drake Steel in California before he retired, and was a resident of Orange County, Calif., from 1946 until about three and a half years ago when he moved to Arizona. He was a life member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge 51 A.F.&A.M. He was born in Coultersville, a son of Leonard and Ninzel Mann Kenney, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1932. Surviving are his wife, Myrle; daughtrs, Lois Berger of Blythe, Calif., Colleen Harlow of Prescott; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Other survivors include a sister in law, Mary Jo Kenney of Hillsboro. Preceding him in death wre brothers, James E. Kenney, Prentiss L. Kenney and a sister, Lois Kenney at the age of 2. Services were held in Prescott with burial to take place a later date in Hillsboro.
Keppler, Elvira
Elvira Keppler, of Witt, died Monday, December 27, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Pana. She was 78 years old on February 1. She had resided in Witt since 1974, and owned and operated her own beauty shop. She was also an avid bowler and golfer. She was born in Oconee, a daughter of Samuel D. and Edna B. Stevens Morgason. She married Eldon O. Keppler in 1941, in St. Charles, Mo. He died May 1, 1998. Surviving are two sons, two brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, none from the local area. Services were held in Pana with burial in the Oconee Mound Cemetery.

Mrs. Keplinger, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, December 20, 1998, in Litchfield HealthCare Center. She was 90 years old on May 25. She was an active member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church as a member of the United Methodist Women, the Reaper Class, Golden Years Club and as Cradle Roll superintendent for a number of years. As a young girl she was also primary teacher at Honey Point Church. She was born near Litchfield in Honey Point Township, a daughter of John and Flossie Elizabeth Gates Gamble. She married Henry William Keplinger on December 21, 1929, in Carlinville. He died March 28, 1994.Surviving are daughters, Marcella Grimes and husband Jimmie of Wood River, Mary Lou Wright and husband Kenneth of Beeville, Texas; a sister, Lucille Webb of Granite City; three grandchildren, Jane L.G. Deuble of Chandler, Ariz., Debbie K. Erdman of Leola, Pa., Brian Bond of Staunton; five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were two brothers, John and Cleo Gamble; two sisters, Viola Little and Ruby Gamble; and a grandson, Scott Grimes. Funeral arrangements for Earl L. Kershaw Sr., of Hillsboro, are pending at Patton Memorial Home there. Mr. Kershaw, 96, died at 5:45 this morning, November 18, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. Services for Earl L. Kershaw Sr., of Hillsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Patton Memorial Home there with the Rev. Harry Meyer of the Christian Church of Hillsboro officiating. Mr. Kershaw died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. He was 96 years old on June 2. He went to work at the age of 15 for the American Zinc plant then started working construction at the Eagle Picher Zinc plant. He was named foreman in 1941. When he retired on May 31, 1968, he had worked for 42 years with Eagle Picher. He was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hillsboro. He was born in Donnellson, a son of Leroy and Minnie Law Kershaw. He married Mary Noyes on June 23, 1919, in Hillsboro. She died in February 1975. Surviving are sons, Leo Kershaw Jr. and wife Juanita of Hillsboro, Larry Kershaw of Orange, Mass.; brother, Cecil Kershaw of Hillsboro; sisters, Rilla Gage, Ada Keith, both of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were sons, Don, Carl and Fredrick Kershaw; a daughter, Betty Kershaw; brothers, Oren "Bill" and Harold Kershaw; and a sister, Glada Cook.

Services for Frederick Leroy Kershaw, of Hillsboro, were held today in Lundberg White Rose Chapel in Glendale, Ariz. Mr. Kershaw died Monday, November 23, 1998, in Arizona. He was 75 years old. born in Donnellson, he was a Navy veteran and a boilermaker. He was also a member of the Shriners, Masons and Moose Lodge. Surviving are his father, Earl Leo Kershaw; daughters, Sharon Cooper, Nona Decker; brothers, Leo and Larry Kershaw; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was 96 years old on May 6. She worked for International Shoe Company, and was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of John Dworsack. Her mother's name is unknown. She married B.V. Kessinger on December 8, 1917, in St. Louis. He died May 12, 1983. Surviving are sisters, Amelia VanTungren of DeKalb and Peg Sharp of Plymouth, Mich.; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Glenn Kessinger; sisters, Nettie Swander and Ida Hamilton; and a brother, Bill Dworsack.

Burial will be in Clear Springs Cemetery in rural Hillsboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Mr. Kessinger died at 6:55 this morning, Monday, November 15, 1999, in his home. He was 72 years old on April 5. He was a packer for Eagle Picher, which later became Sherwin Williams, in the smelting plant in Hillsboro. He also worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, Allis Chalmers in Springfield, managed an Imperial Service Station in Litchfield, and worked at Rural King Farm Supply. He built his own home and enjoyed maintaining it. He especially enjoyed working in his garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. He was born in Carlinville, a son of Loren "Ben" and Helen Campbell Kessinger. He married Virginia Lee Coss on June 8, 1947, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coss in rural Hillsboro. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; sons, Loren E. Kessinger and wife Carolyn of Mt. Vernon, Joseph A. Kessinger and wife Terri of Hillsboro; sister, Betty Shermer and husband Willard of Mt. Olive; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Stephanie Kessinger, Diane and Austin Towell, Jana Richards, Joe and Mason Kessigner and Harman Jordan; and one great grandchild, Ethan Richards. Preceding him in death was a son, Michael Lee Kessinger. Services for Loren Earl Kessinger, of Litchfield, were held at 11 this morning in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Allen, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Mallicoat of Jacksonville officiated. Burial was in Clear Springs Cemetery in rural Hillsboro. During the service Ruth Holliday, organist, accompanied the congregation while they sang "Victory in Jesus" and Shirley Edwards, vocalist, sang "Because He Lives." Pallbearers were Jerry Frost of Mt. Olive, Carl Hampton, Jerry Holliday, Al Schoen, Bill Sielschott and Steve Szczepanski, all of Litchfield. Honorary pallbearers were Jim DeBarr and George West, both of Litchfield. Following the committal service a luncheon was provided for family and friends by the women of the church. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kessinger, 72, died Monday, November 19, in his home.

Services for George M. Kessler, of Irving, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Witt, with the Rev. Stan Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery at Palmer. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Mr. Kessler died as the result of injuries suffered in a single vehicle accident near Butler and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:56 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 1999. He was 45 years old on November 5. He was a brick layer and a member of the Way of Life Church in Taylorville. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of James H. and Ethel E. Marshall Kessler. Surviving are sons, Steven Kessler of Chatham, Ed and Justin Kessler, both of San Antonio, Texas, George Kessler of Irving; his mother, Ethel Kessler of Witt; brothers, James M. Kessler of Nokomis, Donald E. Kessler of Alabama, Charles A. and William J. Kessler, both of Witt; sisters, Mary Ann Kessler of Irving, Theresa Waller of Mason City, Marti J. Kessler of Green ville, S.C. Others surviving include his god parents Ron and Dee Rosko of Witt. Preceding him in death was his father, James H. Kessler
Kessler, Howard Q.
Graveside service for Howard Q. Kessler, formerly of Waggoner, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Atwater. Hough Funeral Home, Farmersville, is in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Kessler died July 26, 1999, in his home in St. Louis. He was 83 years old on May 19 and the last of his family. born in Waggoner, a son of Irwin and Estelle Waggoner Kessler, he taught school for many years. In lieu of flowers, the Waggoner Methodist Church is suggested as a recipient of memorial contributions.
Keune, Frances Maria
Services for Frances Maria Keune, of Walshville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, with the Rev. Daniel Barbey officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Alzheimers Association or the Mt. Olive Academic Foundation. Mrs. Keune died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in Litchfield Heath Care Center. She was 79 years old on May 26. She worked on the family farm with her husband, Paul, and also at Acu-Rule in Mt. Olive and for the State of Illinois in Springfield. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mt. Olive and Lydia Circle of the Church. She was active in 4-H, Home Extension and loved bowling. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Earl and Mary McPHail Blackburn, attended country schools in the Hillsboro area and graduated from Hillsboro High School in the class of 1937. She married Paul Arnold Keune on April 6, 1938, in St. Charles, Mo. He died December 7, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Rode and husband Dennis of Newnan, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Robert Blackburn, preceded her in death. Following the services on Friday a luncheon for family and friends will be served in the Immanuel Fellowship hall by the Lydia Circle. Services for Frances Marie Keune, of Walshville, were held at 11 this morning in Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive. The Rev. Daniel Barbey officiated. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Rosemary Messner was pianist and soloist. She played "Amazing Grace," "In the Garden" and "Softly and Tenderly." Pallbears were Jim Kuene, Dennis Rode, Jim Dobernic, Jeff Pierce, Ed Becker and Jeff Hayes. Following the services a lunch was held for family and friends in the Immanuel Fellowship hall, served by the Lydia Circle of the church. Mrs. Keune, 79, died Tuesday, March 23, in Litchfield HealthCare Center.

Serevices for Glenn Bernard Kidd, formerly of Litchfield, were held this morning in Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North, Decatur. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Moweaqua. Mr. Kidd died at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 1999, in his Decatur home. He was 90 yars old on October 22, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was active in the Masonic organization, a member of Masonic Lodge 102 AF&AM in Rockford, Freeport Consistory, Ansar Shrine of Springfield, Zohak Grotto, Grotto Low 12 Club, Forest City Chapter 590, Mecca Shrine 53, Order of the Shrine of Jerusalem, Leighton Court 1 Order of Amaranth. He was born in Litchfield, a son of John Lincoln and Bessie Hart Kidd. He married Vera Agnes Redding on February 28, 1933, in Bloomington. She died October 31, 1994. A brother, Sterling E. Kidd, also preceded him in death, making him the last of his family. Surviving are a nephew, Melvin Kidd of Mt. Zion and his daughter, Jacky Schwalbe and husband Jim of Decatur.

Funeral Mass for Wilbur H. Kiefer, of Witt, will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, by the Rev. Fathers John Burnett and Richard Chiola. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Mr. Kiefer died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 1998, in Golden Manor Nursing Home, Nokomis. He was 78 years old on June 26. He was a farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was born in Witt Township, a son of Walter and Katherine Huber Kiefer. Surviving are brothers Robert Kiefer of Fillmore, Al Kiefer of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Hazel Suslee and husband Joe of Nokomis and Ellen Bitzer of Mobile, Ala.
