Maurizio, Evelyn

Services for Evelyn Maurizio, formerly of Gillespie, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in United Methodist Church there with the Rev. Dennis Hill officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Kravanya Funeral Home. Mrs. Maurizio, of Taylorville, died at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 1998, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Taylorville. She was 80 years old on July 19.ŒShe was a houseparent at Chaddock Boys School in Quincy before she retired. She a member of the Gillespie United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and had been a Cub Scout den mother. She was born in Gillespie, a daughter of Alva and Ellen Lockyer Lancaster. She married Joseph T. Maurizio on December 24, 1936, in Gillespie. he died April 21, 1987. Surviving are sons, Terry Maurizio and wife Sharon of Decatur, Barry Maurizio and wife Lynn of Schaumburg; sisters, Vera Tkach of Mt. Zion, Joyce Tallman of New Douglas; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Maxeiner, Leland

Services for Leland Maxeiner, of Dorchester, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, with the Rev. David Heyen officiating. Burial will be in Bunker HIll Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday in the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Red Cross, Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children or the Salvation Army. Mr. Maxeiner died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 89 years old on March 31. He operated a lubricating business in Dorchester for 51 years and also worked in the shipping and receiving department at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, retiring after 16 years of service. He was a charter member of the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Dorchester Village Board for 21 years and was a special deputy with the Macoupin County Sheriff Department for 20 years. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Philip W. and Arabella Maier Maxeiner. He married Josephine Gaskill of Collinsville on November 18, 1934. She died April 3, 1987. Surviving are a nephew, LaVearl Maxeiner, Jr., of Princeton and nieces, Gail Lynn Maxeiner of Springfield and Carole Stephens of Riverton. Preceding him in death were a half brother, LaVearl Maxeiner and a half sister, Edna Percy.

Maxvill, Virginia L.

Virginia Lee Maxvill, of Mt. Olive, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, October 3, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was 78 years old on May 15. She owned and operated the Countryside Inn in Mt. Olive and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Staunton. She attended schools in Granite City, graduating from Granite City High School in the class of 1939. She then attended business college in Chicago. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. She was born in Granite City, a daughter of David Judd and Anna Day Scott Lakin. She married Sherman Eugene Maxvill on February 24, 1945, in Missouri. He died on September 5, 1984. Surviving are a son, Sherman L. Maxvill and wife Patricia of Mt. Olive; daughters, Rebecca Dork of Mt. Olive, Mary Elizabeth Drake and husband David of Lincoln; brothers, Gerald Lakin of Granite City, Barry Lakin of Carlinville, Tracey Lakin of Granite City; sisters, Mary Hamby and Yvonne Mathis of Mt. Olive, Bess Fenton of Litchfield, Charlotte Flowers of Granite City; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were five brothers, John, Bud, Bobby, Sonny and Richard Maxvill and a sister, Betty Dorway. No services are planned. Her remains were cremated and burial will be in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Mt. Olive Library.

Mayhew, Ellen

Funeral Mass for Ellen Mayhew, of Mt. Olive, will be said at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Church of the Anscension by the Rev. Father Larry Anschutz. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to Masses or to Calvary Cemetery. Miss Mayhew died at 9:05 a.m. Monday, September 6, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Carlinville. She was 86 years old on September 18. She was a nurse's aide at St. Francis Hospital for many years, member of the Church of the Ascension and the church quilters group. She was born in Frontenac, Kansas, a daughter of William and Sarah B. Delaney Mayhew. The last of her family, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Parsons, Sr. Marcia Mayhew O.S.F. (Sarah), Patricia Mayhew and Sr. Maris Mayhew O.S.F. (Margaret); brothers, James, William, Joseph and Thomas Mayhew. Funeral Mass for Ellen Mayhew, of Mt. Olive, was held at 9 a.m. today in the Church of the Ascension there. The Rev. Father Larry Anschutz officiated. Brandon Grejtak, Daniel Dragovich and Anthony Obernuefemann were the servers. The Ascension choir sang under the direction of Carolyn Masinelli. Amy Dragovich was the organist. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Sisters of the Order of St. Francis sang. Pallbearers were Ron Yurkovich, Don Klaus, Bill Vogt, Mike Ziglar, Frank Schwab and Gerald Gorsich. Miss Mayhew, 86, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday in Heritage Manor of Carlinville.

Mayhew, Thomas W.

Services for Thomas William Mayhew, formerly of Mt. Olive, were held Monday morning in Villa West Chapel at Chapel. The Rev. Ralph Zetzl, O.F.M., officiated. Eulogies were given by Steven Koel, a grandson, Ed Selby, a fellow D-Day veteran, Sister Ann Pitsenberger and Father Bill Barnicel. Organist was Sister Barbara Mary Lanham. Graveside service was held Monday afternoon in Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Olive. The flag was folded by Michael Kasarda and Dan Mancini and presented to the granddaughter, Laurie Koel, by Dan Mancini. Taps was played by Ulinda Mancini. Becker and Son Funeral Home there was in charge of local arrangements. Mr. Mayhew, of Sherman, died Saturday, May 29, 1999, in St. John's North, Springfield. He was 87 years old on July 2. He was an Army veteran of World War II and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a medic, in graves registration and the recipient of a Bronze Star. He retired in 1975 from Phil's Transfer and Storage in Los Angeles. He also worked at McDonnell Douglas in Los Angeles and Corn Products Refining in Argo, Ill. He was a member of St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Los Angeles and the Holy Name Society. He was born in Frontenac, Kansas, a son of William and Sarah B. Delaney Mayhew. He married Bess Irene Klitch on April 30, 1949, in Chicago; she died October 30, 1979. Surviving are a sister, Ellen Mayhew of Mt. Olive; step daughter, Lois Koel of Sacramento, Calif.; and two step grandchildren, Laurie Koel of Chicago and Steven Koel of Grand Rapids, Mich. Preceding him in death were sisters, Mary Parsons, Sister Sarah (Marcia) Mayhew, O.S.F., Patricia Mayhew, and Sister Margaret (Maris) Mayhew, O.S.F.; brothers, James, William and Joseph Mayhew.

Mazenko, Susan C.

Funeral Mass for Susan Cecelia Mazenko, formerly of Litchfield, will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mazenko died at 5:03 this morning, Friday, October 1, 1999, in Blue Fountain Manor, Godfrey. She was 95 years old on February 25. She and her husband, Frank, owned and operated the Mazenko Dri-Gas Appliance Service, which was located at 107 North State street for many years. She moved to the Alton area 18 years ago. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was active in the St. Anne's Society of the church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Litchfield. She was born in Robins, Ohio, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Guman Thomas. Her husband, Frank Joseph Mazenko, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Francis "Fran" Mazenko and wife Mary Ann of Godfrey, Edward Mazenko and wife Viola of Santa Cruz, Calif., Michael Mazenko and wife Ann of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughters, Florence Hopper and husband Harry of Doraville, Ga., and Judy Pence of Champaign. Others surviving include 12 grandchildren and their spouses: Kathy and Craig Adams and Mark Mazenko, all of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Max and Carolyn Mazenko of Palo Alto, Calif.; Tom and Karen Mazenko of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Janey and Rick Walters of Carey, Ill.; Thomas Hopper of Doraville, Ga.; Megan and Tom Walters of Chatham; Beth and Dave Cullum of Janesville, Wis.; Michael and Julie Mazenko of Edwardsville; Sarah and Doug Holcomb of Stillwater, Minn.; Kate Graves of Ashville, N.C.; Jason Graves of Raleigh, N.C.; and 16 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Leonard T. Mazenko and two grandchildren, Mary Lynne Mazenko and Harry Edward Hopper Jr. Funeral Mass for Susan Cecelia Mazenko, formerly of Litchfield, was said at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Father David Schmidt. Don Holmer served as the reader. Mary Thunhorst and Kitty Daly served as ministers of the Eucharist. Florence Hopper and Fran Mazenko were gift bearers. Kathy Skinner was the organist and Polly Wand was the cantor. Musical selections were "I Am the Bread of Life," "On Eagles Wings" and "You Are Mine." Pallbearers were Michael Mazenko of Edwardsville, Tom Mazenko of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tom Walters of Chatham, Brad Mazenko, Dan Heise, Don Holmer, Dale Hughes and Glen Watts, all of Litchfield. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Following the committal service a lunch was provided for family and friends by the women of the church. Mrs. Mazenko, 95, died Friday, October 1, in Blue Fountain Manor, Godfrey.

Mazzini, Ina Rhea

Services for Ina Rhea Mazzini, formerly of Hillsboro, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Ware's Grove Lutheran Church, Butler, with the Rev. Donald Rehner officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Mazzini, of Athens, Ga., died Tuesday, November 17, 1998, in the Athens Regional Medical Center there. She was 76 years old on November 17. She worked in Peoria at Block & Kuhl as a buyer for three years and at Schradski for five years, and in Springfield from 1946 to 1973 at Myers Brothrs. She graduated from Williamsville High School in 1929. She was born in Breckinridge, Ky., a daughter of Samuel Thomas and Nettie Dennison Frank. Her husband, Alfred F. Mazzini, preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Darlene Rehner of Athens; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A brother, Wavy Frank, preceded her in death.

McAllister, Ellen

Services for Ellen McAllister, of Hillsboro, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Schaefer - Cody Funeral Home, Meredosia. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery there. Friends may call from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mrs. McAllister, formerly of Meredosia, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 96 years old on July 30. She attended the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. She worked for several years at the Meredosia Cafe and later at the Dash Dairy Delite. She was born in Neelyville, a daughter of Jurgen and Marie Anna Herbach Vortman. She married Ray McAllister on January 17, 1924, in Bluffs. He died in 1977. Surviving are a son, Byron McAllister of Joliet; a sister, Bertha Pahlman of Bluffs; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. Other survivors include a son in law, James Donham of Hillsboro. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Mardell Donham; sisters, Johanna Mullens, Wilhelmina Baird and a brother, Fred Vortman.

McAnarney, E. Paul

Services for E. Paul McAnarney, formerly of Farmersville, were held this morning at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield. The Rev. Father Donald Meehling officiated. Burial was in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Mr. McAnarney, of Springfield, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 1998, in his home. He was 77 years old on October 21, and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for 35 years, where he was vice president and comptroller. He was also a member of the Springfield Election Commission. He was a founder of Knights of Columbus Council 4157 and served as Grand Knight and in various other state positions. He was born in Farmersville, a son of Edgar and Grace Arnold McAnarney. He married Olga Yzaguirre on July 2, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas. She survives. Surviving also sons, Kevin McAnarney of New York, Terry McAnarney of Carol Stream, Tim and Barry McAnarney of Springfield; and eight grandchildren.

McAnulty, Forrest Glen

Forrest Glen McAnulty, father of Forrest Glen McAnulty Jr. of Staunton, died at 11:38 a.m. Sunday, July 19, 1998, in his home in Divernon. He was 54 years old on November 11. He was employed by Bunn O Matic in repairing commercial coffee makers. He had worked for the company for eight years. He was born in Steele, Mo., a son of W.R. and Mary Atha McGarity McAnulty. He married Vaughn Marie Hughes on May 5, 1962. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Vaughn Marie Kasper of Riverton; brothers, Bob McAnulty of St. Peters, Mo., Jim McAnulty of Mountain Home, Ark., Gene McAnulty of Foley, Mo., Benny McAnulty of Florissant, Mo.; a sister, Mary Beth Rettig of Sikeston, Mo.; and three grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Pawnee Christian Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

McBrain, Patsy Lou (Pat)

Services for Patsy Lou "Pat" McBrain, of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Ted Schelich, chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Women of the Moose will conduct rites at 10 a.m. preceding the service. Family suggests memorials be directed to St. Francis Home Health and Hospice Service.ŒMrs. McBrain died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in her home. She was 63 years old on November 19. She was a member of Litchfield Chapter 581 of the Women of the Moose. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Fred N. and Rosalie Corbin Kessinger. She married William K. McBrain on December 31, 1960. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Timothy Reynolds and wife Dawn of Litchfield, Kent McBrain and wife Jennifer of Hillsboro, James McBrain of Litchfield; daughters, Cindy Owens of Litchfield, Sherry Mueller and husband Jeffrey of Carlinville, Joan Jackson and husband Michael of Litchfield; a sister, Mary Dockery of Dayton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Dennis Reynolds; brothers, James and Nile Kessinger; and a granddaughter, Brandi Barto. Services for Patsy Lou "Pat" McBrain, of Litchfield, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. Father Ted Schelich, chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Opening song of the service was "Clair de lune." After members of Litchfield Chapter 581 of the Women of the Moose conducted rites, "Ave Maria" was played. Closing selection was "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were her grandsons, Eric and Mike Nepute, both of Carlinville, Kyle McBrain of Witt, Curtis Owens, Nathan and Shannon Barto, Bryan Reynolds and Adam Jackson, all of Litchfield. Following the committal service a meal was provided for the family and friends by the Women of the Moose. Mrs. McBrain, 63, died Saturday, July 18, in her home.

McCaherty, Lucille T.

Graveside service for Lucille Theresa McCaherty, of Springfield and formerly of Atwater, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, in Bethel Ridge Cemetery near Atwater. The Rev. Dean Probst will officiate. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to Memorial Medical Center Pulmonary Rehab. Mrs. McCaherty died at 6:55 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 81 years old on November 9. She trained managers for many years in the Chicago area through Visually Handicapped Managers of Illinois. She enjoyed traveling, music and reading. She was born in Jersey County, a daughter of Andrew J. and Anna McGrew Dabbs. She married James M. McCaherty on January 25, 1934, in Jacksonville; he died March 29, 1974. Surviving are daughters, Anna Jarman and husband Dale of Jerseyville, Shirley Link of Dorchester, Carol Feazell and husband Barry of Jacksonville, Fla., Linda McCaherty of Springfield; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Mary Lou McCaherty in 1974, two brothers and three sisters.

McCall, William H.

William H. McCall, father of John L. McCall of Nokomis, died at 2:35 p.m. Friday, August 13, 1999, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was 95 years old on November 26. Mr. McCall, of Argenta, was a carpenter and farmer before he retired and a member of the Argenta Masonic Lodge. He was affiliated with the Argenta United Methodist Church. He was born in Mattoon, a son of Thomas B. and Mary Elizabeth Handley McCalfl. He married Lois Donaldson on February 12, 1924, in Monticello; she died January 11, 1953. He married Maxine Green field Donaldson on June 30, 1956, in Altamont; she died July 25, 1994. Surviving besides the son are a daughter, Beverly McCall Geese of Atwood; step daughter, Betty Broeq of Victoria, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchidlren. Two brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Services were held today in Argenta with burial in the Friends Creek Cemetery there.

McCallon, Martha M.

Funeral Mass for Martha Marie McCallon, mother of Jim McCallon of Litchfield, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 10235 Ashbrook drive, St. Louis, by the Rev. Father Mark Dolan. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, St. Louis. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today in Stygar and Sons Chapel, 9825 Halls Ferry road, St. Louis. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Hospice of Integrated Health, 10910 Kennerly road, St. Louis, MO 63128, or to St. Jerome's Church. Mrs. McCallon died at 10 a.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, in her home in St. Louis. She was 89 years old on August 11. She was secretary to the president of Hamilton Shoe Company in St. Louis for many years. She was a member of St. Jerome's parish, the women's guild of the church, the Quilters and the "Holy Dusters." She enjoyed sewing, gardening and was a great cook. She was born in Berger, Mo., a daughter of Charles and Amelia Jordan Roetheli. She married James I. McCallon on October 27, 1934, in the rectory of St. Anthony Church, St. Louis. He died August 15, 1983. Surviving besides Jim McCallon and wife Bette of Litchfield are daughters, Maureen Prendergast and husband Jim of O'Fallon, Mo., Mary Jean Birk and husband Dennis of Hermann, Mo., Jackie Stowell and husband Ken of Wichita, Kan.; brother, Carl Roetheli of Hermann; sisters, Loretta Mundwiller of St. Peters, Mo., Vi Lomando of St. Louis, Mildred Radkte of Hermann; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, Leander Roetheli and a sister, Laura Mundwiller.

McCann, Myrtle A.

Myrtle A. McCann, formerly of Mt. Olive, died Thursday, September 23, 1999, in rural Petersburg. She was 91 years old on June 9. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of James and Eliza Eddings Morgan. Her husband, Paul W. McCann, died in 1971. Surviving is a sister, Alma Lucille Lawson of Athens. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Southside Christian Church, Springfield, with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Boardman - Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

McClard, Barbara E.

Barbara E. McClard, mother of William Richard McClard of Butler and Virginia May Browning of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998, in Sulllivan. She was 65 years old. Other survivors include sons, Randy E. McClard of Cathedral City, Calif., and David Lynn Wooley of Irvine, Calif.; daughters, Kathy Elder of Texas, Sue Boyd of Chino, Calif.; her mother, Lillie Fifer of Sullivan; three sisters, 16 grandchidlren and two great grandchildren. Graveside service was conducted Friday in Keller Cemetery, Lovington.

Services for Sarah Margaret McClurg, of Lithcfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plummer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Disease Research or the Sigma Kappa Sorority. Mrs. McClurg died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. She was 89 years old last July 17. She was a 1927 graduate of Litchfield High School and continued her education at the University of Illinois where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was also a member of the H.K. Chapter of P.E.O., the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield and the Litchfield Country Club for several years. She loved to play the card game Bridge. She was born in Granite City, a daughter of Dr. Christian H. and Philipine Hoffman Zoller. She married Marion M. "Pat" McClurg on September 29, 1933, in Litchfield. He died in 1984. Surviving are sons, Chris McClurg and wife Jo Anne of Weathersfield, Conn., Patrick M. McClurg and wife Movina of Saudi Arabia; two grandchildren, Sara Jo Grolnic - McClurg and husband Steven Grolnic of Northampton, Mass., Jarrett C. McClurg and wife Kimberly of Westerfield; and a great granddaughter, Maggie Elizabeth McClurg. Preceding her in death was a sister, Christine Wilson. Services for Sarah Margaret McClurg, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. Jay Johnson of the Union Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Musical selections for the service were "Amazing Grace" and "We Gather Together." Also conducted during the service was a ceremony held by members of the H.K. chapter of P.E.O. Pallbearers were Steve Eades, Joe Goeke, Robert Milligan, J.D. Moss and Maynard Painter. Mrs. McClurg, 89, died Tuesday, July 6, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield.

Services for William Glen "Mac" McCluskey, of Coffeen, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, Green ville, with the Rev. Roger Sanders officiating. He was 73 years old on December 20. He was a minister of the Assembly of God Church before he retired and worked for 10 years at the Vandalia Correctional Center. He was born in Belknap, a son of John and Minnie Lovens McCluskey. He married Dorothy Amelia Schmidt on July 28, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Jerry McCluskey of Coffeen, Larry McCluskey of Virden; daughters, Glinda Burry and husband Bill of Effingham, Linda Eller and husband Bud of Green ville, Judy Eyman and husband Don of Mulberry Grove; brothers, Alvin McCluskey of Bradley, Johnnie McCluskey of Huntsville, Ala., Walton McCluskey of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Milburn Burns and husband John of Stanford, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a sister, Helen Byrum and two grandchildren.

McCormick, Lawrence

Lawrence McCormick, father of Sharon DeBrun of Morrisonville, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in St. John's North, Springfield. He was 65 years old on June 27, and an Army veteran of Korean War. Mr. McCormick, of Carlinville, retired as head of the warehouse at the Coca Cola Bottling Company after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Macoupin County Historical Society. He was born in Carlinville, a son of Earl and Avis Christensen Hartman McCormick. He married Barbara J. Briegel on June 10, 1955, in Carlinville. She survives. Surviving also, besides the daughter, Mrs. Stephen DeBrun, are a son, Kenneth McCormick of Virden, a granddaughter and a step grandson. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in DavisİAnderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Valor in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery.

McCormick, Leona O.

Services for Leona Orton McCormick, formerly of Hillsboro, were held this afternoon in Mackey Daws Funeral Home, Roodhouse. Burial was in Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Mrs. McCormick died Saturday, May 29, 1999, in Reisch Memorial Nursing Home at Carrollton. She was 87 years old on July 25. She taught in several county schools and was a postal worker for 33 years. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Ellis P. and Nora Goldie Garrett Woolridge. She married Oran Orton in 1929 in Glasgow; he died in 1977. She married James McCormick in 1982, in Bowling Green , Mo. He survives. ]Surviving also are a brothers, Lloyd Woolridge of Quincy, Edward Woolridge of New Iberia, La.; sisters, Lillie Reno and Mary Camerer, both of White Hall, Opal Malone of Rose Wood Heights; and a granddaughter. A son, Edward Orton, preceded her in death.

McCoy, Alvina J.

Funeral Mass for Alvina J. McCoy, of Panama, will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church there by the Rev. Father Carl Schmidt. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Perfetti Funeral Home, Panama. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Mrs. McCoy died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, December 6, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 76 years old on January 15. She resided in Panama all of her life and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar Society of the church and the Panama VFW Auxiliary. She was born in Panama, a daughter of Angelo and Jennie Savant DeRight. She married Harold McCoy on October 9, 1948, in Hillsboro. He died April 5, 1994. Surviving are sons, Michael and Randy McCoy of Hillsboro; a brother, Angelo DeRight Jr. of Port Republic, Md.; sisters, Clara Lesicko of New Douglas, Arlene Hoxsey of Glen Carbon, Angie DeRight of Pekin; and three grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a sister, Donna Jones and a brother, Daryel DeRight.

McDaniel, John E.

Services for John E. McDaniel, of Witt, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in StiehlİDawson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Gloria Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Irving Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Mr. McDaniel died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 1998, in his home. He was 61 years old last November 22. He was employed as a tree trimmer. He had resided in Witt since 1977, having moved from Iowa, and was a member of Irving A.F.&A.M. 455. He was born in Springfield, Mo., a son of Otto and Margaret Eldridge McDaniel. He married Dorothy Barker on January 6, 1965. She survives. Surviving also are six children, Kenneth McDaniel of Knoxville, Iowa, Kathy of Knoxville, Iowa, Debbie of Florrisant, Mo., David McDaniel of Kansas City, Mo., Douglas McDaniel of St. Charles, Mo., and Barbara Shell of Litchfield; a sister, Laverne Chiodini of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren.

McDole, Dr. John

Funeral Mass for Dr. John McDole, an optometrist in Staunton and East Alton for 50 years, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Staunton, by the Rev. Father George Radosevich. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by Staunton VFW Post 1241. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Williamson Funeral Home. Prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Michael's School. Dr. McDole, of Staunton, died at 4:45 this morning, Monday, October 12, 1998, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years old on July 24, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was born in Panama, a son of John T. and Goldie Ryan McDole. He married Betty Foley on December 22, 1942, in Big Springs, Texas. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Michael T. McDole of Clayton, Calif., Jack McDole of Edwardsville, Dan McDole of Staunton; a sister, Doris Savage of Hillsboro; and six grandchildren. Other survivors include a son in law, John Powell of Alamo, Calif. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Carole Powell and a brother, Eugene McDole.

McDonough, Berniece S.

Services for Berniece S. McDonough, of Fillmore, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Allen and Sutton Funeral Home there with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery west of VanBurensburg. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mrs. McDonough died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 1999, in the Montgomery Health Care Center. She was 82 years old on October 12. She was born in Shafter Township, a daughter of George and Maude Roe Stewart. She married John McDonough on January 9, 1955, in Hillsboro. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Bill Durr of Bandalia, Kenneth McDonough and wife Toni of Hillsboro; sistres, Verna McDonough of Fillmore, Georgia Gregory of Mt. Vernon, Lenora Vallbracht of Coffeen; and three grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a sister, Lola Evans.

McDowell, Harold E.

Service for Harold E. "Bo" McDowell, of Witt, was held at 11:15 this morning in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis. Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to Adopt-A-Pet in Benld. Mr. McDowell died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 90 years old on January 3, and a Navy veteran. He was a letter carrier for the St. Louis Post Office until he retired in 1964, and a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He later owned and operated Mac's Coin Shop in Jennings, Mo. He was born in Irving, a son of Charles and Bessie Randale McDowell, and graduated from Irving High School. He married Madge Pope in 1926; she died in 1983. Surviving is a sister, Evelyn Holms of Witt. Preceding her in death were brothers, Herbert and Charles McDowell and a sister, Dorothy Weis.

McDowell, Pierce W.

Services for Pierce W. McDowell, formerly of Nokomis, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church there with the Rev. Jeff Bapst officiating. Burial will be in the Irving Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Mr. McDowell died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 1999, in his home in Decatur. He was 95 years old on August 22. He was truck driver for the Kroger Company before his retirement, a 66 year member of Irving Lodge 466 A.F.&A.M. and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was born in Irving, a son of Edward H. and Carrie Adeline Whitnam McDowell. He married Cardina Schneider on January 26, 1929, in Edwardsville. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Pierce E. McDowell and wife MaryLou of El Paso, Texas, Jerry McDowell and wife Nancy of Decatur; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

McEwen, Dorothy June

Dorothy June McEwen, mother of Robert Ewen of Litchfield, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, in Balanced Care Lebanon Center North, Lebanon, Mo. Mrs. McKwen, formerly of Florissant, Mo., was 85 years old last June 18. She was born in St. Louis, a daughter of William and Florence Kitchin. Her husband, William J. "Bill" McEwen, preceded her in death. Surviving, besides her son Robert and wife Sharon of Litchfield, are another son, Dennis McEwen and wife Billie of Lebanon; brother, Jack Kitchin of St. Charles, Mo.; three grandchidlren, Brad McEwen of St. Louis, Megan McEwen of Denver, Colo., Kelly Wilmes of Silex, Mo.; and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death wre a daughter, Shirley McEwen and a brother, William Kitchin. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Alexander Funeral Home Old Chapel with burial in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at St. Ann, Mo. Friends may call on Wednesday in the funeral home from one hour before the service. Meinschein Funeral Home, Litchfield, is in charge.
