Mentz, James E.

Services for James Edward Mentz, retired Litchfield firefighter/EMT, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Father David Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Shelbyville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship Fund, John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis or Catholic Charities. Mr. Mentz died at 5:12 this morning, Tuesday, October 12, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 50 years old last October 21, and an Army veteran of Vietnam having served two terms there. He was a firefighter and emergency medical technician for the city of Litchfield for 21 years. He retired last October. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, VFW Post 3912 and Firefighters Union Local 3252. He was born in Decatur, a son of Walter E. and Lela Miller Mentz, and graduated from Raymond High School. He married Mary L. Huff on April 4, 1970, in Hillsboro. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Meegan L. Blevins and husband Christopher of Litchfield; his mother, Lela Moore of Coffeen; brothers, John R. Mentz and wife Shirley of Taylorville, Rodger L. Mentz of Price , Utah; sister, Susan D. Hancock and husband Dean of Fillmore; and two grandchildren, Michayla L. and Zoe G. Blevins. Preceding him in death were his father, Walter E. Mentz and a brother, Harmon L. Mentz. Services for James Edward Mentz, Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. Father David Schmidt officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. During the service, Sarah Burke and Clara Pippin served as readers. Michelle Sweet was the organist and Dianne Barbey was the cantor. Musical selections were "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were Jim Hendrickson, Larry Pence, Dave Sumpter, John Wilhelm, Roger Wilhelm, all of Litchfield, Dean Hancock of Fillmore, Jason Melton of Mt. Olive. Honorary pallbearers were Chris and Jason Blevins and John Wendell of Litchfield. A procession of fire trucks escorted the family through town. At the Shelbyville Cemetery, members of the Shelbyville VFW Post folded the flag and presented it to Mrs. Mary Mentz. Following the funeral service a luncheon was served to family and friends by the women of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mr. Mentz, 50, a firefighter with the Litchfield department for 21 years until illness forced his retirement, died Tuesday, October 12, in St. Francis Hospital.

Merkel, Fran A.

Services for Fran A. Merkel, of Harvel, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Harvel Christian Church with the Rev. Don Baker and the Rev. James Borop officiating. Burial will be in Harvel City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Hough Funeral Home, Raymond. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Harvel Gym. Mrs. Merkel died at 2:09 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 1998, in her home. She was 59 years old on May 27. She had been employed as a clerk at the Litchfield WalMart store for the past eight years, and was involved in many civic activities. She was a member of the Harvel Women's Club and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was born in Taylorville, a daughter of Charles and Marcella Kinder Cachera, and graduated from Nokomis High School in 1957. She married Gilbert Merkel in 1959, in the Raymond Methodist Church. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Dawn Davis and husband Bryon of Belvidere, Leisa Mixon and husband Dan of Hazelcrest; a son, Gilbert Merkel and wife Jodi of Witt; and five grandchildren. A brother, Charles, preceded her in death in 1985.

Merriman, William H.

Services for William Harley "Bill" Merriman, of Taylor Springs, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Patton Memorial Home with Rev. Madonna J. McDonald, of St. Louis, officiating. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro, with military rites performed by VFW Post 1306, Taylor Springs. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Merriman died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 81 years old on September 29, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was waste water superintendent for the City of Hillsboro for several years before retiring in 1985. He spent nearly all of his life in the Hillsboro and Taylor Springs area and was a member of VFW Post 1306 of Taylor Springs and the Water Pollution Control Operators Assocaition. He was born in Fillmore, a son of William A. and Bertie Maude Owens Merriman. He married Marie Thacker on August 14, 1943, in Green ville. She died April 11, 1998. Surviving are sons, Glenn Merriman of Dawson, Ronald L. Merriman of Hillsboro, Bill L. Merriman of Butler; daughters, Tanya Louise Giller and husband Art of Hillsboro, Janice Kay Robinson and husband Larry of Florissant, Mo., Kathy Ann Pierce and husband Keith of Springfield, Sandra Jean Austin of Witt; a sister, Edna Moore of Mt. Auburn; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were sisters, Helen Merriman, Martha Whitten, Nancy Watts, Viola Taylor and a half brother, Clarence Lack.

Merritt, Kyle W.

Services for Kyle W. Merritt were held this afternoon in Breese. Burial was in Buckeye Cemetery at Geff. The youngster, 11 on September 12, died Friday morning, November 12, 1999, as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Donnellson. He was a fifth grade honor student at District 12 Elementary school in Beckemeyer, member of the band and the Fairfield Farm Little League baseball team. Surviving are his father, Thomas Merritt of Geff; mother and step father, Charlotte Madden Revell and husband Wayne of Breese; maternal grandmother, Elisabeth Dieckmann of New Caney, Texas; paternal grandmother, Jo Linnie Shaw of Geff.

Metts, Agnes C.

Agnes C. Metts, formerly of Nokomis, died Wednesday, August 5, 1998, in Glendale, Ariz. She was 79 years old. She was born in Nokomis and worked as a packer at the Hiram İ Walker Distillery. Surviving are a daughter, Frances Turnbow and a sister, Edith Driskel. Services were held in Glendale.

Meyer, Christopher L.

Funeral arrangements for Christopher Lynn Meyer, Jr., are pending at Plummer Funeral Home. Son of Christopher Meyer and Sara Niehaus, the baby died Friday, June 18, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was one day old. Graveside services for Christopher Lynn Meier, Jr., the one-day old son of Christopher and Sara Niehaus Meyer of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. JoAnn Osborn officiating. Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. The baby died Friday, June 18, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Shawna Benderman; maternal grandparents, Tammy Morgan and husband Dana of Carlinville; Jerry Niehaus and wife Kathy of Litchfield; maternal great grandparents, Marvin and Nancy Niehaus of Mt. Olive; Ray and Pat Benton of Litchfield; great great grandfather, Harry Griggs of Missouri; paternal grandparents, Luanne Barker and husband Kenny of Litchfield, Robert Meyer of Granite City; paternal great grandparents, Winnie Scarbrough of Litchfield and Louise Meyer of Granite City.

Meyer, Denver C.

Denver C. Meyer, of Taylor Springs, died at 1:06 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 1999, in Montgomery Health Care Center. He was 66 years old on January 2. He was a member of the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. He was also a farmer and self-employed carpenter. He worked for CIPS, and he owned and operated Denver Refrigeration in Hillsboro for more than 23 years. He was a member of the Donnellson Masonic Lodge and Hillsboro Moose Lodge 1377. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid tinkerer of anything mechanical. He was born in Bingham, a son of Clifford C. and Elsie Mae Casey Meyer, and attended Coffeen High School. He was first married to Zala Melloy. In December 1991, he married Linda Parker. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Daniel Meyer and wife Jackie, Lloyd Meyer and wife Cindy, Douglas Meyer; a daughter, Miki Smoot and husband Eric; step daughter, Linda Lee Saathoff and husband Billy; brothers, Dale Meyer and wife Joyce of Zionsville, Ind., Donald Meyer and wife Ruth of Kissimmee, Fla.; and six grandchildren. The family suggests contributions in his memory be directed to Carlinville Hospice. A private family service will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Meyer, Dorothy

Dorothy Meyer, formerly of Farmersville, died Saturday, November 13, 1999, in Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage. She was 87 years old on September 9. She was in the grocery business with her first husband, Wayne Points, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Farmersville. She taught Sunday school there and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was born in Chesterfield, a daughter of Jeremiah and Addie Bullard Phelps. She married Wayne Points in 1935; he died in 1937. Later, in 1973, she married Dana Meyer; he died in 1985. Surviving are daughters, Janet Grimm of Carthage, Joyce Olson of Goodyear, Ariz.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Farmersville United Methodist Church with burial in East Cemetery in Waverly. Lamporte Funeral Home, Carthage, is in charge of arrangements.

Meyer, Elsie Mae

Elsie Mae Meyer, formerly of Fillmore, died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 1998, in Hillsboro Hospital. A resident of Hillsboro Health Care, she was 91 years old on April 10. She was born in Fayette County, a daughter of James and Noi Robinson Casey. Her husband, Clifford Cole Meyer, died February 1, 1973. Surviving are sons, Dale Meyer and wife Joyce of Zionsville, Ind., Denver Meyer and wife Linda of Coffeen, Donald Meyer and wife Ruth of Kissimmee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother, preceded her in death. Services were held Wednesday in Fillmore with burial in Glendale Cemetery there.

Meyer, Harry C.

Services for Harry C. Meyer, father of the Rev. Harry Meyer of Hillsboro, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church of Springfield with the Rev. Hugh Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery there. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield or from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the First Christian Church Memorial Fund. Mr. Meyer, of Springfield, died at 8:22 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 79 years old on May 1, and an Army vetrean of World War II. He owned the Lee Paul Service Station in Springfield for 36 years before he retired. He was born in Tradesville, Pa., a son of Harry and Mollie Hess Meyer. He married LuElla Daniel on December 11, 1943. She died January 22, 1991. Surviving are sons, the Rev. Harry Meyer and wife Linda of Hillsboro, John Meyer of Atlanta, Ga., Steven Meyer and wife Darla of Divernon, Thomas Meyer and wife LuAnn of Sherman; and nine grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a sister, Esther Leipensberger.

Meyers, Deborah J.

Services for Deborah Jean Harris - Meyers, of Litchfield, were held at 10 this morning in the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Langhoff officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Assumption. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church or to the Montgomery West Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Meyers died at 3:05 p.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 41 years old on December 25. She was a respiratory therapist and had worked for the past 14 years at St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Prior that she worked for the Beck Fertilizer Company in Stonington. She was a 1976 graduate of Assumption High School and held an associates degree from Lincoln Land Community College. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield, and she enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling and running. She was born near Palmer, a daughter of Lloyd H. and Ella Simpson Harris. She married Harold W. Meyers on September 3, 1982. He survives. Surviving also are brothers, John Harris and wife Bonnie of Taylorville, Kirby Harris and wife Linda of Edwardsville, Eddie Harris and wife Marsha of Taylorville, Ralph and Alvin Harris, both of Stanford, Ky., Jim Harris of Assumption; sisters, Eva Martin and husband John, Rosetta Cochran and husband Paul, all of Stanford, Sally Pankey and husband Kyle of Lancaster, Ky., Julie Lowis and husband Vern of Palmer. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother Dewey in infancy and a sister Bessie in infancy. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Services for Deborah Harris-Meyers, of Litchfield, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Donald Langhoff officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Assumption. During the church service, Ernie Thomack, the organist, accompanied the congregation while they sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." Pallbearers were Bob McKay, Paul Morgan, Dennis Roberts, all of Litchfield, Roy Rodgers of Farina, Sherlain Westerman of Hillsboro and Bill Weidner of Highland. Following the committal service a meal was provided for family and friends at the church by the Zion Ladies Aid. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Harris-Meyers, 41, died Friday, July 23, in St. Francis Hospital.

Meyers, Edward L.

Services for Edward L. Meyers, of Staunton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Staunton Fire Department or Staunton Ambulance Service. Mr. Meyers died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 1998, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. He was 44 years old on November 2. He was yard foreman and manager of R.P. Lumber Company in Staunton, and had worked for the company for 20 years. He was also a member of the Concordia Singing Society, the Forest Lake Fishing Club and a former member of the Gillespie Bass Club. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Fritz and Lily Sadich Meyers. He maried Cathy Grabruck on July 28, 1973, in Livingston. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Kelly Meyers of Staunton; a son, Keith Meyers of Staunton; brother, John Meyers of Staunton; sisters, Violet Falloon and husband Paul of Bourbon, Mo., RoseAnn Schardan and husband Leslie of Livingston, Juanita Greeling and husband Dale, Betty Sternickle and husband Gary, all of Staunton. Others surviving include sisters and brothers inİlaw, Larry and Trish Grabruck, Linda and Kenny Meyer and Sheryl and Steve Miller, all of Staunton.

Meyers, Lucille A.

Private family graveside service for Lucille A. Meyers, formerly of Litchfield, is planned in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Meyers, of Springfield, died Tuesday, November 17, 1998, in St. John's Hospital there. She was 85 years old on June 24. She worked for Montgomery Ward for many years and was later employed by Horace Mann Insurance. She retired in 1972. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Robert and Flora Leach Bockewitz. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Meyers of Springfield; a sister, Betty Ashton of Indiana; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Judith Lovell and a son, Paul Jerome Kasich Jr.

Mrs. Meyers died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 86 years old on April 25. She was a baker and pastry chef. She worked for The Gardens, the Saratoga and Varner's Cafe. She loved to cook, to garden and to quilt. She was a member of the Home Extension, now the Montgomery County Association for Home and Community Education, and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of William and Emma Whitehouse Marburger. She married Harold W. Meyers in January 1938 in Mt. Olive. He died August 22, 1993. Surviving are sons, Harold "Sonny" Meyers Jr. and wife Deborah of Litchfield, Larry Meyers and wife Maureen of Edwardsville, Gary Meyers and wife Jan of Litchfield; a daughter, Cindy Hemann and husband Ross of New Douglas; 10 grandchildren, Dr. Laura Meyers, M.D. of San Diego, Calif., Michelle Meyers of Quincy, Meghan and Michael Meyers of Edwardsville, Lindsey, Ashley and Stephanie Meyers of Litchfield, Neil Hemann of Norfolk, Va., Cpl. Todd Hemann, with the Marine Corps in Okinawa, and Dianna Hemann of New Douglas. Preceding her in death were a son, Landis Lee Meyers; brothers, Ted, Alfred, Elmer, Leo and Jess Marburger; and a sister, Elfrieda Niemann. Services for Lusetta Ann Meyers, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Langhoff, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Musical selections were "Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Paul Morgan, David Nimmons, David Pastrovich, Dennis Roberts, all of Litchfield, Michael Meyers of Edwardsville and Patrick O'Neal of Mt. Olive. Following the services a meal was provided for the family and friends by Zion Ladies Aid. Mrs. Meyers, 86, died Wednesday, December 23, in St. Francis Hospital.

Meyers, Vera M.

Memorial service for Vera Marie Meyers, formerly of Mt. Olive, will be held at noon Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church there with the Rev. Ron Brooker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday in the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Meyers, of Louisville, Ky., died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in Baptist Hospital at Louisville. She was 85 years old on June 26. While residing in the Mt. Olive area, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was baptized Vera Marie Lora Viehweg there on July 27, 1913. She attended White City Grade School. In Louisville, she was a member of the Harvey Brown Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Circle of the church. She was also an avid bridge player and a member of the Louisville Senior Citizens East. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Ernest and Luella Schlomann Viehweg. She married Fred Meyers on July 1, 1930, in Chicago. He died July 15, 1990. Surviving are a son, Richard Meyers and wife Kathleen of McHenry; daughter, Donna Whitlock of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Robert Viehweg and wife Shirley of Mt. Olive; sisters, Pearl Goldacker of Mt. Olive, Sally Sewing and husband Arnold of White City; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Wilmer and Herbert Viehweg and a sister, Lorraine Schwenner. Services for Vera Marie Meyers, formerly of Mt. Olive, were held at noon Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church there. The Rev. Ron Brooker officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden" sung by soloist Patsy Eccher and "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "My God and I" sung by the congregation. Organist was Elda Prange. Following the services a lunch was held for family and friends in the Zion Fellowship Hall, served by the women of the church. Mrs. Meyers, 85, died Thursday, June 17, in Louisville, Ky

Micklus, William

Services for William Micklus, step father of Jeff Boston of Farmersville, were held at 1:30 p.m. today in Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Virden. Burial was in the Virden Cemetery. Mr. Micklus died Friday, January 29, 1999, in his home in Thayer. He would have been 77 years old on January 31. He was a truck driver and last worked for Matthews Transfer. He also worked for 18 years as a security guard at Dickeyjohns in Auburn and was still working as a guard at the time of his death. He was an Army veteran. He was born in Thayer, a son of Andrew and Anna Danko Micklus. He married Margaret A. "Nan" Boyd - Boston in 1969 in Thayer. She survives. Surviving also besides Jeff Boston and wife Linda are a daughter, Barbara Boston Shearer and husband Scott of Oakton, Va.; a sister, Margaret Micklus - O'Day of Park Ridge; and four grandchildren.

Mierkowski, Clarence

Funeral Mass for Clarence "Clancy" Mierkowski, of Litchfield, will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Father David Schmidt. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Holy Family Church Building Fund. Mr. Mierkowski died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 74 years old on February 11, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a machinist for the Roller Derby Skate Corporation for several years before his retirement. During his military service he was a Fireman 1st Class Machinist Mate aboard the USS Edmonds. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus Council 699 of Litchfield, VFW Post 3912, American Legion Post 436 and the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed his hobbies and crafts which included aluminum can airplanes and golf ball dogs. He was born in DuBois, a son of George and Martha Krol Mierkowski. He married Marvella Janice Schwab Poppenhouse on December 31, 1977, in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Litchfield. She survives. Surviving also are a step son, John Poppenhouse of Grayslake; step daughters, Jan Leonard and husband Dan, Theresa Behme and husband David, Mary Bowles and husband Brad, all of Litchfield; brothers, Izdore Mierkowski of Philadelphia, Pa., John Mierkowski and wife Dodie of Nashville, Jerome "Jerry" Mierkowski and wife Louise of Herman, Mo.; sisters, Isabel Wilkens of Florissant, Mo. Lorraine Seavey and Bertha Silverman of Belleville, Adaline McKay and husband Bob of St. Louis; three step grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoffman, Ben and Katie Bowles of Litchfield. Preceding him in death were brothers, Edward and Lawrence Mierkowski and sisters, Dolores Mierkowski and Leona Palmitiere.

Millburg, Bernhard T.

Funeral Mass for Bernhard T. "Doc" Millburg, of Morrisonville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Maurice Catholic Church there by the Rev. Father John T. Hannigan. Burial will be in St. Maurice Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hough Colonial Home at Morrisonville. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Taylorville Chapter of the Alzheimers Association. Mr. Millburg died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, November 2, 1998, in Meadow Manor at Taylorville. He was 82 years old on May 24. He was a pharmacist and owned and operated Millburg's Drug Store for 30 years with his wife. After graduating from Farmersville High School in the class of 1933, he attended Springfield Junior College and St. Louis School of Pharmacy. He was a former member of the Morrisonville Community Unit School District Board of Education, past grand marshall and master of ceremonies of Morrisonville Homecoming, and a member of the alumni association of St. Louis Pharmacy College. He was voted Man of the Year by the Morrisonville Masonic Lodge. He was active in St. Maurice Parish, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1151 of Morrisonville and past Grand Knight, and the Effingham Area Cursillo. He was born in Havana, a son of Frank and Ardella Kraus Millburg. He married Merle Ree Beil on February 24, 1936, in Farmersville. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Joyce White of Morrisonville, Janice Hough of Raymond, Jill Bell of Taylorville; sons, Tom Millburg of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Ted Millburg of Morrisonville, Terry Millburg of Taylorville; sisters, Miriam Young of Tuson, Ariz., Carla Comerford of Springfield, Sylvia Havener of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 21 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, two foster step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. Preceding him in death were brothers, Harvey, Warren and Donald Millburg; sisters, Barbara "Bobbi" Millburg and Ardith Rose Murphy; a grandson, John Martin Carter on April 6, 1986, and a great grandson, Landon Glenn Burget on August 8, 1994.

Millburg, Cheri Aleen

Services for Cheri Aleen Parsons Millburg will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church of Ashland with the Rev. Ron Barick, assisted by Rev. Ed Millhouse, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kirlin Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield. Hough Funeral Home, Raymond is in charge of the services. The family suggests memorials be directed to an educational fund for her children that has been established at Magna Bank in Lincoln. Mrs. Millburg, of Lincoln, died Saturday, September 19, 1998, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 36 years old on April 12. She was the Head Start director for the disabled at Central Illinois Economic Development Cooperative in Springfield and was previously employed as Head Start director at Hope School in Springfield. A 1980 graduate of Ashland High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in music at Western Illinois University. She was born in Springfield, a daughter of Donald and Kaye Cowger Parsons. She married Ted Millburg Jr. on October 24, 1992, in the Ashland United Methodist Church. He survives. Surviving also are her children, Amber Nichole and Jarek Daniel Millburg, both of Lincoln; step sons, Richard Allen and Dustin Shawn Millburg, both of Princeton, N.C.; her parents, Donald and Kaye Parsons of Ashland; a sister, Elise Parsons Johnson of Downers Grove; and a brother, Brad Alan Parsons of Collinsville. Among others surviving is her grandfather, L.L. Cowger of Mattoon.

Millburg, Earl

Funeral Mass for Earl "John" Millburg, of Hillsboro, will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Agnes Catholic Church there by the Rev. Father David Schmidt. Burial will be in St. Maurice Cemetery, Morrisonville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Carlinville Hospice, Alzheimers Association or Masses at the church. Mr. Millburg died Sunday, May 9, 1999, in his home. He was 72 years old on October 24. He was a livestock and grain farmer for 30 years in the Farmersville area before moving to the Irving and Hillsboro areas. He was also employed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a supervisor for 15 years. While living in Irving he was road commissioner for four years. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Councils in Hillsboro and Farmersville. He was a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau, serving on its board for several years, and a member of the Livestock Association for many years. A Navy veteran, having served from December 1945 through October 1947, he was a member of the Farmersville American Legion Post. He was born in Farmersville, a son of Leo and Loretta Krause Millburg, and attended Morrisonville area schools, graduating from high school there in the class of 1944. He married Dorothy Todt on January 8, 1949, in St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morrisonville. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; children, Connie Fitzsimmons and husband Tom of Evansville, Ind., Faye Ann Waugh and husband Ron of Indianapolis, Ind., Leo Millburg and wife Gayle of Evanston, Wyo., Nancy Neuhaus and husband Lynn of Gillespie, Larry Millburg and wife Julie of Raymond, Philip Millburg and wife Monica of Irving, Rose Rappe and husband Mike of Hillsboro, Paul Millburg and wife Colleen of Evanston, Wyo, Patty Zuzack and husband John of St. Louis; and 21 grandchildren. Also, brothers, Robert Millburg of Girard, Harlen Millburg of Waggoner; sisters, Marietta Lobes of Detroit, Mich., Alma Rose Menette of Jamestown, Leah Faye Lentz of Springfield; half brothers, Jim Donaldson of Carlinville, Andy Donaldson of Dawson, Ga., David Donaldson of Longmont, Calif.; half sister, Carol Jen of Tallahassee, Fla.; four step brothers and sisters. Preceding him in death were a granddaughter, Tanara Millburg in 1984; half brother, Darrell Donaldson; a step brother and a step sister.

Millburg, Marcella H.

Services for Marcella H. Millburg, of Witt, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Barbara's Catholic Church there. The Rev. Father Pat Jakel officiated. Burial was in St. Barbara's Cemetery. Mrs. Millburg died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 1998, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 83 years old on December 9. She was a member of St. Barbara's Church and a 50 year member of the Foresters. She was born in Harvel, a daughter of John F. and Anna M. Matli Heien. She married Raymond F. Millburg on March 1, 1938, in Morrisonville. He died June 24, 1989. Surviving are a son, Edward Millburg; a daughter, Darlene Rogers and husband Jack of Witt; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Miller, Betty

Services for Betty Miller, of Ltichfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meinschein Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Revisky, of the Christian Church of Litchfield, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery at Honey Bend. Friends may call on Tuesday in the funeral home after 10 a.m. Mrs. Miller died at 8:29 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 1998, in Litchfield HealthCare Center. She was 89 years old on December 8. She had resided in Litchfield since 1952, having moved here from California where she had lived for 25 years. She was a cook and waitress at various area restaurants, including Jack's Corner. She was born in Carlinville, a daughter of Sam and Cornelia Stillwell Karrick. She married Willard L. "Bud" Miller on August 13, 1954, in Hillsboro. He survives. Surviving also are brothers, Richard Karrick of Carlinville, Charlie Karrick of Litchfield; sisters, Mabel Curry of Tulsa, Okla., Irene Simmons of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Jad, Gregory, Brian and Lana Fricke, all of Sparks, Nev., Brad Fricke of Litchfield; and numerous great grandchildren, including Heather and Brandon Fricke of Litchfield. Preceding her in death were a son, Charles H. Fricke; brothers, Jim, Edward, Luther and Walter Karrick; and sisters, Cora Harris, Lola Costello, Lena Jackson, Alice Simmons, Dorothy Pacchetti and Anna Brooks. Services for Betty Miller, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meinschein Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Revisky officiated. Organist was Michelle Sweet. Pallbearers were James Beiermann, Lloyd Lueker, Wade Koonce, Kyle Taylor, Roger Coss, Ron Mosby. Burial was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend. Mrs. Miller, 89, died Saturday, September 29, in Litchfield HealthCare Center.

Miller, Betty J.

Private services for Betty J. Miller, of Staunton, will be held Tuesday in Williamson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Boesen officiating. Burial will be in Staunton City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials be directed to either the First United Methodist Church of Staunton or the Staunton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Miller died at 10:02 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. She was 76 years old on September 26. She was manager at Jubelt's Bakery in Staunton before she retired, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Staunton. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of George and Inez Caldwell Pryor. She married Virgil A. "Bud" Miller on August 23, 1941, in St. Louis. He died September 28, 1995. Surviving are sons, Bill Miller and wife Sue of Staunton, Brad Miller and wife Linda of Benld; sisters, Barbara Harms and Carol Green walt, both of Litchfield; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Miller, John G.

John G. Miller, a former member and treasurer of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau board, died Saturday, September 12, 1998, in his home in Virden. He was 65 years old on May 19, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Miller retired from farming in 1980 after more than 25 years of service, and was owner of John G. Miller and Sons, Inc. He was currently a director of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association. He was active in the American Legion organization, having served as commander of American Legion Post 386 in Virden, commander of the 21st District, commander of the 4th Division and Department Senior Vice Commander. He was currently 4th Division chairman of the Gifts to Yanks Who Gave. He was born in Springfield, a son of George and Lena Keller Miller. He married Pauline R. Crawford in 1955 in Virden. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Anthony M., Andrew J., both of Virden, and Joseph A. Miller of Pontiac, Ind.; daughters, Patricia A. Weller, Gail Mottershaw, Katherine Yemm and Jane Maguire, all of Virden; a brother, William P. Miller of Virden; and 16 grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Virden. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Sacred Heart Church in Virden. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery.
