Ragsdale, Carl H.

Services for Carl H. Ragsdale, of Hillsboro, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church there with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus officiating. Military rites will be conducted at graveside in the Stonington Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Patton Memorial Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church Elevator Fund. Mr. Ragsdale died Thursday, February 25, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 86 years old on March 15, and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He had resided in Hillsboro since 1975 and before that he lived in Taylorville for about 40 years. He was a coal miner, retiring in 1966. He also worked as a carpenter and a millrite. During his military service he was a tailgunner and a machinist. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was ordained deacon on April 4, 1976. He was also a member of the American Legion and the United Mine Workers of America. He was born in Herrick, a son of Thomas Fredrick and Minnie Bremer Ragsdale, and graduated from high school in Christopher in 1934. He married Virginia Meredith on February 1, 1945, in Miami, Fla. She later died. On June 23, 1979, in the Calvary Baptist Church of Hillsboro, he married Wilma Davidson. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Joseph L. and wife Pat of Hillsboro; daughter, Nancy Carole Dooley and husband Larry of Stonington; a sister, Wanata Campbell of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his first wife were sons, Donald in infancy and William; a daughter, Barbara Mink; and a brother, Thomas Fredrick Ragsdale.

Ramey, Harold Richard

Services for Harold Richard "Dick" Ramey, of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Johnson, pastor of Union Avenue Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Ronald McDonald House of Springfield. Mr. Ramey died Sunday, September 13, 1998, in an automobile accident near St. Charles, Mo. He was 59 years old on March 7, and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. A career officer in the Navy, he retired after 20 years of service with the rank of chief petty officer. He was a flight engineer. He returned to Litchfield and was employed in the Litchfield School District as bus driver and custodian at Madison Park School. He was also drove a semi and for Cavallo Bus Lines. He was a member of VFW Post 3912 and Moose Lodge 1634, both of Litchfield, and the U.S. 66 Honda Riders Chapter 23. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Harold Wesley and Helen Louise Clarkson Ramey, and attended schools here. He first marriage was to the former Peggy Medford in 1958. They were later divorced. He then married Yacko Koizumi on March 14, 1968, in Iwakuni, Japan. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Harold R. "Bob" Ramey and wife Audrey of Florida, Larry Ramey of Bloomington; daughters, Peggy Lynn Holdman and husband Wesley of Springfield, Linda Ramey and husband Stuart Roush of Surprise, Ariz.; his mother and step father, Helen and Virgil Messerle of Gillespie; a brother, Steven Ramey and wife Mary of Valier; eight grandchildren and a great grandson. Preceding him in death were his father, Harold; an infanty daughter, Kathryn Ramey and an infant sister, Kathryn Sue Ramey. Ramirez, Raymond R.

Funeral Mass for Raymond R. Ramirez, father of Karen Clarke of Mt. Olive, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chatham. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Mr. Ramirez died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 1999, in his Springfield home. He was 65 years old on December 7. He was founder of Rameriz Associates, which provides expert services to organizations and facilities serving the developmentally disabled, and retired in 1998. He was active in the mental health field, including being a founding member of the National Council of Community Mental Health Centers, past president of the Illinois Association of Community Mental Health Agencies, and a former counselor with the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals. He was born in Springfield, a son of Abraham E. and Ignacia Hernandez Ramirez. He married Marilyn J. Belott in 1960 in Orange, N.J. Surviving are sons, Dr. Raymond Ramirez, DVM of Maroa, William Ramirez of New Port Beach, Calif., David Ramirez of Wichita, Kan., James P. Ramirez of Jackson, Wyo.; two other daughters, Marianne Rush of Pleasant Plains, Barbara Ramirez of Kissimmee, Fla.; brothers, Frank, Abraham and Joseph Ramirez, all of Springfield, Louis Ramirez of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

Ramseier, Leola M.

Services for Leola Mae Ramseier, of Staunton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Benld. Burial will be in Staunton Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Staunton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ramseier died at 8 p.m. Monday, November 22, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. She was 77 years old on May 6. She was a clerk at Fashion Lane in Staunton before she retired. She was a graduate of Benld High School. She was born in Benld, a daughter of Herb and Ila Sintay Dingerson. Her husband, Charles Ramseier, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Randy Ramseier of Benld; daughter, Bonnie Nungesser of Edwardsville; and a granddaughter, Nicole Nungesser of Edwardsville.

Randle, Carl Christopher

Carl Christopher Randle, formerly of Litchfield, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in Mesa, Arizona, following a brief illness. He was 86 years old on February 3, and an Army veteran of World War II. He had resided in Arizona since 1950 where he worked in civil service as as weapons technician. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk for 59 years, also a member of the the American Legion, and a life member of the La Societe des 40 Hommes B.T. 8 Chsvauz. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Christopher N. and Nana Redfern Randle, and graduated from Litchfield High School. He married Jean Martin on June 20, 1948, in Springfield. Surviving are his wife, Jean of Gilbert, Ariz.; step daughter, JoAnn Eramo of Yamhill, Oregon, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Private services will be held. Bueler Mortuary, 14 West Hulet drive, Chandler, AZ 85224, was in charge of arrangements.

Randle, Robert Lee

Services for Robert Lee Randle, brother of Betty Quinn and husband Dale of Litchfield, will be held in Minneapolis, Minn. Burial will be in Fort Snelling Cemetery there. Mr. Randle, of Richfield, Minn., died at noon Tuesday, November 3, 1998, in Richfield. He was 66 years old on September 27. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Maynard R. and Evelyn N. Corrington. After graduating from Litchfield High School in the class of 1952, he served in the Air Force for four years. He married Marilyn Ann Hansen of Kenmare, N.D., on June 29, 1956. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Robert John Randle of Richfield; daughter, Julie Ann Orrick and husband Keith of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and grandsons, Larry and Andrew Orrick of St. Louis Park. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Lois Ziegler and husband David, Rebecca Mehochko and husband George, all of Litchfield, Dennis Quinn and wife Andrea, Randy Quinn and wife Lela, Tim Quinn of Litchfield, Kelly Quinn of McMinnville, Oregon; great nephews and niece, Jason, Justin, Ed, Joseph and Rebekah Quinn of Litchfield, Brandon, Aaron and Zack Quinn of McMinnville. Preceding him in death were his father on January 13, 1962, and his mother on December 9, 1997.

Rapp, NIcholas P.

NIcholas Porter Rapp, the 3 year old son of Thomas and Jean Ann Rapp of Davis, Fla., died Friday, November 12, 1999, in Joe DeMaggio Children's Hospital in Florida. Surviving besides his parents are sisters, Lindsay Dee Anderson, Kelsey Rapp and twin brother, Matthew Rapp; paternal grandmother, Eileen Rapp of Davis; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Dee Ann Rosko of Witt; and maternal great grandparents, Stanley and Susan Senovick of Pana.

Rappe, Patrick Aloysius

Memorial Mass for Patrick Aloysius "Pat" Rappe, formerly of the local area, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro. Mr. Rappe died unexpectedly Monday, December 14, 1998, in Sebring, Fla. He was 71 years old on June 9. A resident of Sebring since 1987, he had played 18 holes of golf in the morning and worked on Christmas decorations at home before he was stricken while driving to a store. He retired as vice president of the Acme Chemical Company after 20 years of service to do consulting and operate his own physician search company. While residing in Hillsboro, he was a traveling salesman for the company and upon his promotion in 1964 to sales manager, he moved to the Milwaukee, Wis., and company headquarters. He was a Navy veteran. He was born in Litchfield, one of the 13 children of Dallas and Matilda Durbin Rappe, and was reared in Taylor Springs. He married Mildred "Judy" Johnson on August 30, 1947, in St. Agnes Catholic Church. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Rick Rappe of Minneapolis, Minn., Tim Rappe of Winfield, David Rappe of Milwaukee; a daughter, Lori Rappe of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Mary Freehill of Decatur; brothers, Bernard Rappe of Hillsboro, Tom and Dwight Rappe of Taylorville, Art Rappe of Pine, Ariz., Duane Rappe of Mattoon, Wendell Rappe of Springfield; and eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death were sisters, Catherine in infancy, Opal Huber and brothers, Lee, Lyle and Joe Rappe. She was born in Raymond, a daughter of John W. and Doris E. Stewart Smith. Surviving are a son, Clarence J. "C.J." Rasure of Port Hueneme, Calif.; daughters, Nora B. Rasure of Tuscon, Ariz., September R. Nott of East Peoria; brothers, Ralph "Bud" Warren of Shawnee, Kan., Gary R. Services for Donald C. Rathgeber, of Morrisonville, were held at 10 this morning in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. The Rev. George Christman officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Mr. Rathgeber died Thursday, July 5, 1999, in St. John's North, Springfield. He was 65 years old on October 6. He was a farmer and an employee of the Illinois Secretary of State. He was also a Republican precinct committeeman for many years. He was born in Taylorville, a son of Carl V. and S. Cleona Wright Rathgeber. He married Betty Herald in 1953, and later, in 1991, married Beverly Smith. Surviving are Beverly Smith Rathgeber; sons, Gregory and Kirk of Taylorville, Wayde of Auburn; a daughter, Melissa Long of Assumption; step son, Art Wilson of Buckhart; step daughter, Krista Smith of Fillmore; sister, Elaine Franklin of Morrisonville; and eight grandchildren.

Services for S. Cleona Rathgeber, of Morrisonville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mrs. Rathgeber died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 1998, in Golden Manor Nursing Home, Nokomis. She was 91 years old on March 1. She was a member of Morrisonville United Methodist Church, Delpha Alpha Class, Rosalind Chapter 736 of the Order of Eastern Star and the Morrisonville Civic Janes. She was born in Christian County, a daughter of George W. and Mattie Susie Evans Wright. She married Carl V. Rathgeber on July 15, 1926, in Taylorville. He died March 8, 1974. Surviving are a son, Donald C. Rathgeber and wife Beverly of Morrisonville; daughter, Elaine Franklin and husband Galen Lee of Morrisonville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mrs. Rathgeber, of Vandalia, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday, July 31, 1998, in Fayette County Hospital there. She was 89 years old on April 21. She taught school for many years before she retired. She was born in Christian County, a daughter of Frank and Mattie Privott Campbell. She married Harry Rathgeber on March 14, 1937, in Taylorville. He died May 25, 1982. Surviving are a sister, Nadine Kramer of Bingham, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Carole Myers; sister, Mildred Lawrence and brother, Robert Campbell.

Rau, Marvin Otto

Services for Marvin Otto Rau, formerly of Sorento, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Perfetti Funeral Home there with the Rev. James Howie officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Rau, of Houston, Texas, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, February 5, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital, after an illness of about five years. He was 65 years old on September 7, and a Navy veteran. He spent his early life in Sorento area and the last 25 years in Houston. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Otto Arno and Caroline Josephine Gilb Rau. He married Alberta Erlene Wall on March 2, 1957, in Sorento. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Brian Scott Rau of Houston, Todd Allen Rau and wife Julie of Walshville; daughter, Marlene Kay Chambless of Kemp, Texas; brothers, Warren Rau of Elyria, Ohio, Kenneth Rau of Foristell, Mo., Otto Rau of Panama; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial for Sr. Mary Bernard Rawe, O.P., will be said at 7 p.m. today in the Sacred Heart Convent at the Motherhouse in Springfield. Committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse. Prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements. Sister Mary Bernard died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, July 12, 1999, in the Motherhouse. She was 82 years old. She was born in Carrollton, a daughter of Henry and Lucy Selhort Rawe, and entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters in 1940. She pronounced religious vows in 1941. She devoted 47 years to teaching and administration in elementary schools in Litchfield, Jerseyville, New Berlin, Paris, Granite City and at Christ the King and St. Cabrini in Springfield. She also taught in Brawley, Calif., and Denver, Colo. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1988. Surviving are a sister, 19 nieces and 10 nephews. Preceding her in death were five brothers and a sister, Sr. Ignatius Loyola. O.P.

Mrs. Ray died at 8:02 a.m. Monday, November 16, 1998, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was 70 years old on May 29. She was a retail clerk with the KİMart store in Edwardsville before she retired, and a member of the Bethel Southern Baptist Church. She was born in Hickman, Kentucky, a daughter of Yvonne and Artie Norris DeBaun. She married Blaine Ray on January 11, 1947, in Union City, Tenn. He died July 14, 1991. Surviving are daughters, Peggy "Sova" Bellman and husband Mike of O'Fallon, Diana Maedge and husband Sam of Staunton; sons, Dan Ray and wife Shirley, Joe Ray and wife Kathy, all of Staunton, Linden Ray of Riverton; sisters, Ruby Davis of Phoenix, Ariz., Rachel Gilliam of South Roxana, Retha Cline of Montgomery, Ala., Rena McIlroy of Gary, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Glenn Ray and a brother, Winfred DeBaun.

She was 90 years old on November 6. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of Herman and Emma Huntman Stillahn. She married Howard H. Rebhan on October 30, 1926, in Danville. He died September 28, 1990. Surviving is a daughter, Polly Wernsing - Schum of Litchfield. Preceding her in death were a brother, William Stillahn and sisters, Nora Sorrells, Verna Lessman and Ella Stillahn.

Services for Geno Reck, formerly of Hillsboro, were held Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Peoria, with entombment in the American Mausoleum there. Mr. Reck, of Peoria, died Wednesday, October 27, 1999, in Chenoa. He was 84 years old on September 14, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a machinist with Caterpillar, Inc., for 20 years and also operated Geno Reck Disposal and Recycling. He was born in the Kortkamp area of Hillsboro, a son of Lawrence and Rita Barketta Reck. He married Mary F. Govaia on September 17, 1933, in Hillsboro. She died January 21, 1990, in Peoria. Surviving are sons, Tony Reck of Paducah, Ky., Joe Reck of Dunlap; daughters, Shirlee Smucker of Washington, Carole Hoffman, Teresa Whitmer of Peoria; brothers, William and Virgil Reck of Hillsboro; a sister, Clara Clinard of Hillsboro; 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his wife were a daughter, Carole May Reck, and a sister.

Graveside service for Robert Recker was held at 10 this morning in Memorial Park Cemetery at Staunton. The Rev. Father Larry Anschutz officiated. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and the Marines, and was disabled. born in Iliopolis, he was a son of Edward and Helen Anschutz Recker, and was not married. He is survived by several cousins

Redell, Norvella

T>Graveside service for Norvella Redell, formerly of Sorento, were held today in Sunnyside Cemetery there. Mrs. Redell, of Erie, died at Thursday, September 16, 1999, in the hospital at Prophetstown. She was 85 years old on September 17. She was born in Sorento, a daughter of Elbert and Effie Glenn Caulk. Her first husband, Jess Himes, preceded her in death. She married Dale Redell in November 1972 in Rock Island; he survives. Surviving also are step daughters, Helen Melton of Erie, Kathleen Hayden of Topeka, Kan., Janet Quaintance of Prophetstown, Mary Kucera of Loami; sisters, Evelyn Young of Sorento, Mildred Rameriz of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Lloyd Caulk of New Jersey, Robert Caulk of Sorento; 16 step grandchildren and many step great gand step great great grandchildren.

Redolfi, Dorothy M.

Services for Dorothy M. Redolfi, of Gillespie, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Kravanya Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie. Friends may call on Tuesday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Redolfi died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, in her home. She was 98 years old on November 20. She was a member of the VFW Post 4547 auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary of Gillespie and the SS. Simon and Jude Altar Society. She was born in Jacksonville, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Lyons Childers. Her husband, Frank Redolfi, died August 15, 1958. Surviving are a daughter, Edith Lyons of Gillespie; grandchildren, Carol Leonard of Gillette, Wyo., Diana Boggs of Glenarm, David Lyons of Flowery Branch, Ga.; eight great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Alice Hamilton and grandsons, Michael C. and Frank Lyons.

Reed, Cleda M.

Services for Cleda M. Reed, of Sorento, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Sorento Assembly of God Church with the Rev. William Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Perfetti Funeral Home, Sorento. Mrs. Reed died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 16, 1999, in her home. She was 89 years old on October 16. She was a life-long resident of Sorento, member of the Assembly of God Church there and the American Legion Auxiliary unit. She was born in Highland, a daughter of Emil "Jack" and Sena File Pfister. She married Oliver W. Reed on December 16, 1925, in Pekin. He died September 17, 1979. Surviving are sons, Wallace Reed of Bull Shoals, Ark., LeRoy Reed of Murrayville, Ga.; daughters, Lovetta "Betty" Jarman of Sorento, Shirley Neal of Bukburnett, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Reed, John Wayne

Services for John Wayne Reed, formerly of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Perfetti Funeral Home, Sorento, with the Rev. JoAnn Osborn officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Reed, of Sorento, died at 7:48 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 1998, in an auto accident west of Green ville. He was 40 years old on August 6. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Clyde and Delores Heaton Reed, and resided for most of his life in the Litchfield and Sorento areas. He married Denise Davis on May 22, 1998, in Litchfield. She survives. Surviving also are two sons, two step sons, a step daughter; brothers, Rex Kahle of Hillsboro, Clyde Kahle of Litchfield; sisters, Tammy Hogue of Litchfield, Wanda Thompson of Hillsboro, Shirley Warner of Witt and two grandchildren.

Reed, Martha E.

Services for Martha Elizabeth Reed, of Litchfield, will be held at noon Friday in Sorento Baptist Church with the Rev. Elmer Fenton officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Perfetti Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Reed died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care. She was 89 years old on December 24. She resided for most her life in the Livingston, Walshville and Litchfield areas. She was born in Walshville, a daughter of William and Lillie Kitchen Hemken. She married James Thomas Reed on September 19, 1936, in Hillsboro. He died March 15, 1996. Surviving are sons, Jerry Reed of Litchfield, Thomas Andrew Reed of Juneau, Alaska; brothers, Kenneth and Charles Hemken, both of Willsboro, Dwight Hemken of Winchester; sister, Dorothy Scott of Alton; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, John "Fritz" Hemken and a sister, Alice Jarman.

Renner, Billy L.

Services for Billy L. "Bill" Renner, of Staunton, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Richard Feyen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to The Leukemia Society. Mr. Renner died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1999, in St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, Mo. He was 63 years old on June 1. He was a maintenance electrician at LaClede Steel in Alton for 41 years before retiring in November 1996. He spent his life residing in the Staunton area and was a member of the Staunton Country Club. He was born in Williamson, a son of Francis and Helen Committs Renner. He married Elitra DeVries on August 30, 1958, in New Douglas. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Amy Beyer and husband Max of St. Louis, Roxanne Marra and husband Robert of Staunton; son, Andrew Renner of Staunton; mother, Helen Renner of Staunton; brothers, Leonard and John Renner, both of Staunton. Preceding him in death were his father, Francis Renner; brother, Frank Renner and two sisters in infancy.

Reener, Edna A.

Edna A. Reener, formerly of Litchfield, died Thursday, October 22, 1998, in Redmond Health Care Center, Redmond, Oregon. She was 67 years old last December 19. She worked in a variety of occupations and most recently as a cook at the Senior Center in Redmond. She lived much of her life here and in Granite City before moving to Redmond in 1990. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Roy and Myron Cloud Reener. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Tooley of Redmond; sisters, Grace Holden, Leeta Crawford and brothers, Bud Reener, Roy Reener, Jr., Gene Reener and Ronald Reener, all of Litchfield; and three grandchildren. Redmond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
