Funeral services for Mark Semanik, of Carlinville and formerly of Mt. Olive, are planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday after 9 a.m. Mr. Semanik, 32, died Saturday night from injuries suffered when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck on the Shipman blacktop in Malham Orchard. Full obituary is pending. Services for Mark Patrick Semanik, of Carlinville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, with the Rev. Ed Fogle and the Rev. Father Larry Anschutz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to a trust fund for Mr. Semanik's daughter Nicole which has been set up at the Mercantile Bank in Staunton, the Mt. Olive Public Library or the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service. Mr. Semanik died at 11:41 p.m. Saturday, Setpember 12, 1998, in Carlinville Hospital from injuries suffered in a traffic accident. He was 31 years old on December 18. He attended Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey and Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, and worked at the Carlinville WalİMart. He served in the Air Force from 1985 to 1989. He atteded Mt. Olive schools and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in the class of 1984. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Michael Dominick and Eleanor Mae Manning Semanik. They survive. Surviving also are a daughter, Nicole Semanik of Benld; brother, Robert Semanik and wife Lori of Staunton; sisters, Judy Morelan and husband Don of Jacksonville, Fla., Pat Allman and husband Tom of Antioch, Tenn.; and his grandmother, Effie Reis of Benld. Olive City Cemetery the flag was folded by Michael Kasarda and Dan Mancini and presented to Mr. Semanik's mother, Eleanor Semanik. Taps was played by Ulinda Mancini. Following the services a lunch for family and friends was served in the Baptist Church by the women of the church. Mr. Semanik, 31, died Saturday, September 12, from injuries suffered when the bicycle he was riding was struck by pickup truck.
Semon, Sr., Michael J.
Services for Michael J. Semon, Sr., father of Louis Semon of Staunton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Semon died Wednesday, February 10, 1999, in his home in Springfield. He was 65 years old on April 5, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a machinist with Sangamo Electric for 27 years and with Hobbs for 10 years. He was born in Virden, a son of Leonard Leo and Catherine Spada Semon. He married Norma Bee in 1956. She survives. Surviving also are three other sons, Michael Jr., Lenny and David Semon, all of Springfield; his mother, Catherine Semon of Sherman; and 10 grandchildren.

Services for Mary Bertoletti Senger, formerly of Mt. Clare, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Kravanya Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be in Benld City Cemetery. Mrs. Senger, of San Bruno, Calif., died at 7:10 a.m. Monday, August 9, 1999, in the Sunrise Convalescent Home at Burlingame, Calif. She was 77 years old last September 17. She was born in Mt. Clare, a daughter of Carlo and Caroline Cecilli Bertoletti. Her husband, Edmund Senger, preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Bertoletti of San Bruno, Calif.; step daughters, Patricia Casey of Wisconsin, Judy Richter of Wisconsin Dells; brother, Louis Bertoletti of Alton. Preceding her in death was a sister, Angelina Bertoletti.

The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Staunton. Mrs. Seniker died at 5:11 this morning, Friday, September 17, 1999, in her home. She was 75 years old on November 17. She was born in Edwardsville, a daughter of Thomas and Agnes Bilpush Lautner. She married William G. Seniker on September 29, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Thomas Luckett of Atlanta, Ga., Leonard Luckett of Mt. Olive, George Luckett of St. Charles, William G. Seniker Jr. of rural Bunker Hill; a daughter, Elizabeth Barber of rural Bunker Hill; a brother, George Lautner of Edwardsville; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a brother, Robert Lautner.

Services for Victor Theodore Sewing, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church there with the Rev. Daniel Barbey officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Parking Lot Fund or KFUO. Mr. Sewing died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 78 years old on June 19. He was a farmer in Walshville Township all of his life. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, he was trustee, elder, financial secretary and cemetery board. He attended St. John's Lutheran School in South Litchfield. He was born in Walshville Township, a son of Theodore and Anna Niemann Sewing. He married Leona Sievers on September 26, 1948, in rural Staunton. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Gary Sewing and wife Mary Beth of Mt. Olive; daughters, Marcia Sewing of rural Mt. Olive, Patricia Clemons and husband Randy of St. Charles, Mo., Linda Petroline and husband Andrew of rural Mt. Olive, Brenda Kavanaugh and husband Jack of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Michael Clemons of St. Charles, Jennifer and Jason Sewing, Andrew and Kate Petroline, all of Mt. Olive, Joseph and Patrick Kavanaugh of Springfield; two step grandchildren, Beth Ann Zubal of Mt. Olive, Jeremy Clemons of Marshall, Mo.; and two step great grandchidlren, Chris and Ashley Zubal of Mt. Olive. Preceding him in death was a sister, Selma Sewing in 1945. Private graveside service for Raymond L. Sexton, formerly of Gillespie, will be held Tuesday in Tine Sawyer Cemetery near Staunton. Rev. Ralph Zetzl will officiate. Williamson Funeral Home, Staunton, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sexton, of Sherman, died at 12:41 a.m. Saturday, October 16, in his home. He was 75 years old on June 21. He worked for the Springfield Association for Aid for Retarded Citizens before his retirement. He was born in Gillespie, a son of Marvin and Esther Dingerson Sexton, and was the last surviving member of his family. A sister, Dorothy Winterbauer, preceded him in death. Memorials are suggested to the Springfield Association for Aid for Retarded Citizens or Special Olympics.

Services for Edwin Amiel Frederick Scharf, of Litchfield, were held at 11 this morning in Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Langhoff and the Rev. Wallace Becker, former pastor of the church and now of Springfield, Mo., officiated. Eulogy was given by Glen and Esther Watts. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "Abide with Me." Ernie Thomack was the organist. Pallbearers were Yann Bourigault, Katherine Brubaker, Tammy Christiansen, Thomas Christensen, Dawn Covili, Matthew Niehaus, Andy Scharf, Tessa Scharf and Tim Scharf. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Zion Lutheran School. Mr. Scharf died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. He was 80 years old on July 25. He was a farmer for several years in the Walshville area and also a truck driver for more than 35 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield and an honorary member of the Lutheran Men's League. When residing in Yuma, Ariz., he was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, participant in the Helping Hands group and the AAJ, SMART program of Southwestern Arizona. He was instrumental in developing the library of Yuma Lutheran School. He enjoyed woodworking and building doll houses. He was born in New Douglas, a son of Amiel and Mary Schweppe Scharf. He married Jean Rice on April 12, 1941, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Ronald Scharf and wife Suzanne of St. Louis; daughter, Diane Brubaker of Chicago; sister, Nadine Beal and husband Irvin of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Andy Scharf and Dawn Covili, both of Litchfield, Tammy Christensen of Edwardsville, Sarajane "Sally" Logomarsino of San Francisco, Calif., Timothy Scharf and Katherine Brubaker of St. Louis, Molly Brubaker of Los Angeles, Calif.; four great grandchildren, Matthew Kyle Niehaus of Edwardsville, Riley Elisabeth and Cooper James Scharf of Litchfield, William Frederick Logomarsino of Los Angeles, Calif. Preceding him in death were sisters, Vernis Niemann and Dorcas "Dot" Monke.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Zion Stained Glass Window Fund or to Shriners Hospital. Mr. Shaefer died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. He was 81 years old on July 20. He served as Staunton city clerk from June 1, 1972 to May 11, 1981. He also worked as an operating engineer for 30 years at Shell Oil Company in Wood River. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton and editor of the The Panhorst Street Bocci Ball Club newspaper column. He was born in Staunton, a son of Otto and Della Fritz Schaefer. He married Marcella Wall on October 20, 1942, in Staunton. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Jan Schaefer of Gillespie, daughter in law, Sharon Schaefer of Staunton and five grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kevin Schaefer of Staunton, Janeen, Danelle and Kirsta Schaefer of Gillespie. Preceding her in death were a son, Ronald Schaefer and a sister in infancy.

Mrs. Sharp died at 2:41 this morning, Monday, January 18, 1999, in Litchfield Health Care. She was 85 years old on March 17. She was cafeteria supervisor in the Litchfield School District for many years, and a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, the Farm Bureau and the Home Extension. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Henry and Eva Rasor Doll. She married William Wayne Sharp on March 13, 1937, in Hillsboro. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Dennis Wayne Sharp and wife Beverly Jean of Camden, Mississippi; a daughter, Judith Ann Thacker and husband Richard of Litchfield; a sister, Mary Jo Sharp of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Terry K. Hall of Highland, Trisha Coleman of Mississippi, Christine Jarman of Hillsboro and Jeremy Thacker of Litchfield; and two great grnadchildren, Samantha Jarman and Tiffany Parnell. Preceding her in death was a grandchild, Tracy J. Sharp. Services for Ruth Anne Sharp, of Litchfield, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Meinschein Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Spires officiated. Loyd Ray Shaw, of Gillespie, died Friday, August 6, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. born in Reeder, a son of Harlen W. and Velda L. Cole Shaw, he was 71 years old last September 3, and a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Triangle Metallurgical in Granite City before he retired. Surviving are sons, Bruce Wayne Shaw of Hartford, Brian Dale Shaw of Brighton, Kristopher Allen Shaw of Shipman; step children, Millicent Baker of Cottage Hills, Micah Baker of Shipman; a brother, Harlen Shaw of Meadowbrook; sisters, Wanda Lambert of Carlinville, Juanita Johnson of Arkansas, Wilma Hamby of Alton, Willa Jenkins and Theresa Osborn, both of Cottage Hills, Donna Keller and Nancy Tosh, both of Worden, Betty Hogle of Meadowbrook, Connie Morgan of Godfrey; step brother, Wayne Schaaf of Meadowbrook; and five grandchildren. Services for Mae Gertrude Shaw, wife of Garrett E. Shaw, formerly of Litchfield, were held Thursday in Bluffs in the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Officiating were Walter Knockenmus, Chris Janssen, John Badertscher and Ryan White. Organist was Kathy Jones. Vocalists were Miriam Pierson, Shane Pierson and Troy Kutz. They sang "Songs of Zion." Pallbearers were Jack Cox, Tom Pinney, Kent Crawmer, Terry Allen, John Klepzig, Eric Shaw and Kent Boreen. Mrs. Shaw, of Bluffs, died Sunday, October 31, 1999, in Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. She was 83 years old on October 28. She worked in telephone sales for the Sears store in Jacksonville before she retired. As pastimes she enjoyed traveling and fishing. She was born in Oxville, a daughter of Harvey H. and Cora Parker Thomas. She married Charles Comerford in January 1937; he died in June 1967. She married Garrett Shaw of Litchfield in January 1978; he survives. Surviving also are a son, Laine Comerford of Bluffs; daughter, Vesta Cox of Winchester; step sons, Ronnie Shaw of Ashland, George Shaw of Riverton, Charles Shaw of Mt. Olive, Jerry Shaw of Litchfield; step daughter, Barbara Tinsley of Grandview, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Riggs of San Diego, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. A brother, Leonard Thomas, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sheets died at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. She was 81 years old on November 23. She was a receptionist at the hospital for many years and later worked for Drs. Johnson and Pineda as a receptionist. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Staunton, teaching Sunday School there for more than 50 years and working with the youth fellowship of the church. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of Fred and Edna Schnutzler Bentrup. She married Everett L. Sheets on September 12, 1948, in St. Paul's church. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Glenn Sheets and wife Dale of Staunton; step son, Albert Sheets and wife Ursuline of Tacoma, Wash.; granddaughter, Zoe Sheets of Staunton; step grandsons, Zachery and Shawn Sheets. A daughter, Erma Louise Blom, preceded her in death.

Gary L. Shelton, brother of Paula Jean Shelton of Litchfield, died Monday, January 4, 1999, at his home in Springfield. He was 45 years old on April 15. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield, having been born there. Surviving are his mother, Pauline Shelton of Springfield; sisters, Mary Ann Hunter, Sue and Judy Blank, all of Springfield; and a brother, James Blank of Texas. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Staab Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a member of the Witt Presbyterian Church. She was born in Witt, a daughter of Robert and Mary Gilmour Baird. She married Everett Shelton on July 3, 1937, in Edwardsville. He died September 8, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Janet Janssen and husband Alan of Morrisonville; son, George Shelton and wife Joyce of Witt; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Richard L. Shelton in 1950; sisters, Euphemia Rockle, Jeannie Baird and Margaret Calame; and a brother, Peter Baird.

Services for Herbert Shepherd, Sr., of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Queen of Hartselle, Ala., officiating. Mr. Shepherd died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 1998, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 72 years old on December 3, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a coal miner for more than 40 years before he retired in 1981. He worked at the Crown I mine at Farmersville and at Consolidated Coal Company's Hillsboro mine at Coffeen. He was a 27 year member of the United Mine Workers of America. His military service included service in the European and Pacific Theatres from 1944 to 1945. He was born in Grays Knobb, Ky., a son of Abe and Jane Clem Shepherd. He married Edith C. Johnson on August 28, 1943, in Harlan, Ky. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Herbert L. Shepherd and wife Lynn of Litchfield; daughter, Brenda Marit and husband Norman of Coffeen; brother, Joe Shepherd of Harlan; sister, Annie Napier of Hartselle, Ala.; five grandchildren, Daivd Marit of Coffeen, Richard Marit of Witt, Marsha Shepherd of Gillespie, Benjamin and Neil Shepherd, both of Litchfield. Several brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Services for Herbert Shepherd, Sr., of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. She was a resident of Springfield most of her life, and worked for Eisner's Grocery store as a meat wrapper for 28 years before retiring. She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., a daughter of Joseph and Mildred Paleski Buckus. Surviving are sisters, Victoria Kaluza of Richmond, Mich., Frances Doyle of Lamar, Mo. Among other survivors is a companion, Harold Sheppard of Topeka. Preceding her in death were sisters, Eleanor Constantino, Josephine Akers and a brother, Steven Buckus.

Mrs. Sheridan died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, October 8, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 78 years old on April 15. She worked as a probation officer for Montgomery County for many years. A resident of Hillsboro since 1946, she was active in the PTA's, Rebekah Lodge, Girl Scouts, Boys Scouts, VFW Auxiliary and the Navy Mothers Club. She was also a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro. She was born in Tilden, a daughter of Guy Sullivan and Marion Little Ramsey. She married twice. Her first husband was Herman Miller. Later, she married Otto Sheridan. Both husbands preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Donald R. Miller and wife Donna of Walshville, Guy Sheridan and wife Corrine of Hillsboro, Joel Sheridan and wife Janet of Craig, Colo., Kelly Sheridan and wife Joyce of Nashville; daughters, Jackelyn Myers and husband Jim of Dallas, Texas, Robin Sheridan of Carterville, Bonnie Katz and husband Steve of Powell, Wy., Lori Black and husband Jesse of Keller, Texas; brother, Rosell Ramesy of Marissa; twin sister, Lorine Ramsey of Tilden; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Others surviving include a niece, Sonja Ramsey Pyle, who spent several years in their home and was considered a member of their family. A brother, Russell Ramsey, also preceded her in death.

Services for Julia Mary Shimkus, of Eagarville, were held at 11 this morning in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Shimkus died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, February 12, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 89 years old on November 21. She worked in food service in the hotel industry in the St. Louis area. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Anton and Marcella Norkaitus Shimkus. Services for Irma June Shore, of Raymond, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Raymond United Methodist Church with the Rev. Oliver Keiser officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Nokomis. Mrs. Shore died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. She was 93 years old on May 19. She taught school for more than 40 years, beginning in country schools and later teaching in Edinburg, Fillmore and Witt. She was a graduate of McKindrey College in Lebanon, and a member of the Raymond United Methodist Church. She was born in Rountree Township, a daughter of Emma Shore Kinnerly and step father Ed Kinnerly. She never married and was the last of her family.

Graveside services for James L. Short, of Hillsboro, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Cemetery there with the Rev. Harry Meyer officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday in Hough and Sons Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to Adopt - A - Pet in Benld. Mr. Short died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 1999, in Montgomery Care Center. He was 72 years old on April 2. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946 and in the Army from 1950 to 1953. He owned and operated his own trucking firm, and was a past member of the Teamsters Union. He was born in Schram City, a son of Robert and Iva Manley Short, and graduated from Vandalia High School. He married Helen Bernice Bandy on November 10, 1954, in Muncie, Ind. She died May 9, 1992. Surviving are a son, David Short of Litchfield; daughter, Linda Laws of Athens; sisters, Marion Hicks, Mildred Bandy, Catherine Civitate, all of Hillsboro, Margaret Pingera of Florida, Martha Aguilera of Silver Springs, Md.; a brother, Jack Short of Owings, Md. Preceding him in death were brothrs, Robert and Richard Short and two in infancy.

Irene V. Short, sister of Marion Plankenhorn of Hillsboro, died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in Douglas Health Care Center, Mattoon. She was 93 years old. She was born in Harvel, a daughter of Jacob and Josephine Madden Plankenhorn and married John Luther Short on January 22, 1930, in DeLand. He died in 1993. Surviving are sons, Allen L. Short of Streamwood, John M. Short of Champaign; sisters, Mary Brackett of Newton, Audrey Fogel of Farmer City; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, four brothers and one sister. Services were held Saturday with burial in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown.

Mr. Short, of Rockport, Ind., died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1999, in Owensboro Mercy Hospital, Owensboro, Ky. He was 65 years old last May 31. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Ernest Otis and Adela Gruenig Short. Surviving are a son, William Short and wife Sandy of Kentucky; a brother, Emmit Short of Witt; granddaughters, Billie Jo Short and Jennifer Carrie Short; and a great granddaughter, Devine Short.
Shrader, Marian A.
Funeral service for Marian A. Shrader, of Litchfield, will be held privately for the family at her request with the service at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. Jay Johnson of the Union Avenue Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. They suggest memorials to the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary or the Union Avenue Christian Church. Mrs. Shrader died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, November 8, 1999, in her home. She was 84 years old on August 1. She took an active role in helping with the Litchfield Centennial. Her many memberships include the Union Avenue Christian Church, Litchfield Country Club, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and the Litchfield Woman's Club, of which she was a past president. She enjoyed playing bridge. She was born in Raymond, a daughter of Charles and Mae Potts Ash, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1933. She married Murray Lewis Shrader on June 29, 1935. At the time of their marriage, he was already a partner in Austin & Shrader Brothers, a hardware and furniture business located at 214-216 North State, where the Antique Addict is now. He died on January 25, 1975. Surviving are sons, Larry Shrader of Las Vegas, Nev., Gary Shrader of New York, N.Y.; brother, Milton Ash and wife Hattie Mae of Springfield; and two grandchildren, Hans C. and Ashley Brooke Shrader of Chicago. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Ann Shrader; brother, Jesse Ash; and sisters, Dorothy Rebillot and Mildred Cottrell. Private family funeral service for Marian A. Shrader, of Litchfield, was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jay Johnson of Union Avenue Christian Church officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Fleming, Mike Funk, Stan Horst, Roger Maulding, Terry Plummer and Buel Schwab, all of Litchfield. Mrs. Shrader, 84, died Monday, November 8, in her home.

He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Richard and Dorothy Cooper Shroyer. He married Evelyn Byrd Boyd on April 6, 1996, in Moline. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, April Wright, Annie and Wendy Shroyer, all of Fillmore; step daughters, Debbie Boyd of Witt, Carolyn Boyd of Moline, Jammie and Sandra Boyd of Fillmore; his parents of Elizabethtown, Ky.; brothers, Roy Shroyer of Nokomis, Lewis Shroyer of Elizabethtown; five other sisters, Rhonda McAninch of Alton, Doris Dixon of Roodhouse, Cheryl Hayes of Peoria, Bonnie Wilson of Rinnieville, Ky., Tanya Shroyer of Elizabethtown; step grandmother, Mary Coooper of Nokomis.
Shuman, Charles B.
Charles B. Shuman, former president of the Illinois Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federaion, died Sunday, October 24, 1999, in his home in Sullivan. He was 92 years old. Mr. Shuman earned national stature as president of the Illinois Farm Bureau from 1946 to 1954, and was president of the American Farm Bureau Federation from 1954 to 1970. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church of Sullivan. He worked as a laborer at Shell Oil Company at Wood River before he retired. He was a member of VFW Post 4547, Gillespie. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of Mike and Mary Sidar. His wife, Mary Ann Ferketich, died April 28, 1995. Surivivng are a son, John Sidar and wife Gloria of Benld; a brother, Joe Sidar of Lincoln Park, Mich.; granddaughters, Dionne and Marion Sidar, of Benld. Preceding him in death were sisters, Emma Sidar and Bernice Harris.
