Graveside service for Edward E. Thomas, formerly of Hillsboro and Raymond, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Asbury Cemtery at Raymond with Dr. Lonnie Laughlin officiating. Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thomas, of Danville, died at 10:55 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in the Danville VA Hospital. He was 67 years old on June 25, and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Private E-2 repeaterman, and a member of Living Stones Fellowship. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., a son of William G. Thomas and Mary C. Fowler Simcox. Surviving is his step father, Howard Simcox of Litchfield.

Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Carlinville. She was 90 years old on October 21. She was born in Brushy Mound Township, a daughter of William and Margaret Darshied Schaefer. She married Joseph Bomkamp in 1927 and he preceded her in death in 1977. She married John Thomas in 1977 and he also preceded her in death in 1992. Surviving are sons, William Bomkamp and wife Maxine of Gillespie, Leonard Bompkamp and wife Dorothy, Paul Bomkamp and wife Sandy of Carlinville, Norman Bomkamp and wife Judy of Oak Harbour, Wash., Richard Bomkamp and wife Cathy of Victoria Texas; daughters, Rosina Kasten and husband Dale of Carlinville, JoAnn Richey and husband Earl of Medroa, Rita Cerar and husband George of Athens; step daughter, Joyce Ann Rich of Crete; brother, William "Sonny Schaefer of CArlinville; 49 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren.

Mary E. Thompson, sister of Helen Jackson of Gillespie, died Friday, March 19, 1999, in Miller's Merry Manor, Columbia City, Indiana. She was 88 years old on November 6. She worked with for the Illinois Department of Public Aid as a clerk before she retired in 1978. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of Wiley and Ada Conway Nicholas. Her husband, Fred W. Thompson, preceded her in death. Surviving are two other sisters, Essa Dunlap of Phoenix, Arz., Ada Cunningham of Springfield; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services for Fred Carrico Thornton, of rural Litchfield, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Meinschein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mr. Thornton died at 10:44 a.m. Friday, December 25, 1998, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 88 years old on June 26. He was a farmer and had farmed the family centennial farm for more than 60 years. He was active in the Barnett Christian Church, having served as elder, treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and in many other capacities for many years. He was a member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau and the AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Litchfield. He was born in Barnett, a son of Edwin A. and Dottie Lena Carrico Thornton, and graduated from Litchfield High School in the class of 1930. He married Leita Maude Ray on July 26, 1934, in St. Charles, Mo. She died February 28, 1989. Surviving are a son, Fred R. Thornton and wife Barbara of Litchfield; daughters, Mary Ann Sanders of Edwardsville, Dottie B. Hampton and husband Paul of Litchfield; brother, John N. Thornton of Napa, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Bradley Sanders of Bunker Hill, Michael Sanders of Belleville, Chad Sanders of Dorsey, Gregory Thornton of Chatham, Jeffrey Thornton of Litchfield, Steven Hampton of St. Louis, Richard Hampton of Edwardsville, Thomas Hampton of Raymond, Sara Randle of Litchfield; and 12 great grandchildren, Rachel and Amanda Sanders of Bunker Hill, Jeremy Sanders of Belleville, Erik and Bryce Thornton of Litchfield, Ashleigh and Matthew Hampton of St. Louis, Zachary and Brock Thornton of Chatham, Jacob and Abigail Hampton of Raymond and Maren Hampton of Edwardsville. Preceding him in death were brothers, Clarence and James Thornton and a great granddaughter, Madeline Ray Randle. He is the father of Bruce Throne of Litchfield. Services for Charles Edward Throne, of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Mallicoat officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Francis Home Health and Hospice. Mr. Throne died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 1998, in Sunrise Healthcare, Carlinville. He was 90 years old on August 20. He worked as a machinist at Roller Derby for 20 years and in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield and the AARP organization. He was born in Morrisonville, a son of Green berry and Ana Pucket Throne. He married Emma Hodges Woods on June 7, 1968. She died July 10, 1980. Surviving are a son, Bruce Throne and wife Donna of Litchfield; step son, Jerry Woods of Hillsboro; daughters, Evelyn Haycraft and husband Robert of Irving, Virginia Hedrick and husband Mike of Benld; Helen Bushaw of Rock Falls, Edith Richmond of Wapapella, Mo.; step daughters, Barb McBroom of Hillsboro, Cathy McBroom of Vandalia; sisters, Verna Shuck and Velma Davis; 21 grandchildren, six step grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Tiemann, Velma
Velma Tiemann, formerly of Raymond, died May 24, 1999, in NHC Health Center, Maryland Heights, Mo. She was 93 years old on February 14. She was born in Raymond, a daughter of George B. and Anna J. Gottlob Daggett. She and Edward Tiemann, originally from Pinckneyville, were married in St. Louis and resided in that area. He preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Gerald Tiemann of St. Louis; sister, Minnie Edrington of Litchfield; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Preceding her in death also were an infant daughter; a son, Jack Tiemann who resided in Osage Beach, Mo.; sisters, Stella Guy and Alma Billiter Fogleman, who resided in Litchfield; brothers, Harry Daggett, who resided in Litchfield and Zanesville Township, and Harold "Pete" Daggett, who resided in rural Carlinville.

She and her husband, Earl, owned and operated E&Bea Sanitation in Staunton for 23 years before retiring in 1997. She was born in St. Louis, a daughter of Oscar and Lula Jackson Doty. She married Earl Tiepelman, Jr., on June 7, 1973, in St. Charles, Mo. He survives. Surviving also are a son, John Herzog and wife Judy of Hamilton, Ala.; daughters, Mary Magrew and husband Rod of St. Charles, Mo., Sandy Finley and husband Jerry of Livingston; step sons, Donald Mueller and wife Debbie of Florissant, Mo., Richard Tiepelman and wife Lisa of Mt. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Mr. Tierce, of Collinsville, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in Anderson Hospital, Maryville. He was 67 years old on February 12. A registered professional engineer, he was an aeronautical engineer with the Army Aviation Systems Command until he retired in 1987. He was a member of VFW Post 3912 of Litchfield and the Army Aviation Association of America. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and Kermit High School, Kermit, Texas. He was born in Bradshaw, Texas, a son of Cecil and Essie Wallace Tierce. His wife, the former Nancy Green wood, survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Donna McNeal of Litchfield; sons, Terry Tierce of San Angelo, Texas, David Tierce of Axtell, Texas, Donald Webb of Glen Carbon; his mother, Essie Dittman of Fort Stockton, Texas; his father, Cecil Tierce of San Angelo; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A brother, Charles Tierce, preceded him in death.

Mr. Tietze died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Staunton. He was 83 years old on April 13. He was a maintenance welder at LaClede Steel in Alton for 30 years before retiring in 1980, and previously worked for Olin Corporation in the same occupation. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2197 and VFW Post 1241, all of Staunton. He was born in Staunton, a son of Edward and Julia Lupinchek Tietze. He married Audrey Rueter on June 8, 1946, in Staunton; she survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Rochelle Dees and husband Tim of Litchfield; son, Larry Tietze and wife Debi of Fort Montgomery, N.Y.; sisters, Marcella Hoffman of St. Louis, Lorraine Griffin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jon Dees, Kris Starkey, Blake and Courtney Tietze; and a great grandson, Jordan Dees.

He was 28 years old on March 5, and an Army veteran of Desert Storm. He was a technical engineer employed by Schutt Manufacturing, Litchfield. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Jerry and Joann Valerio Tilley, and never married. Surviving are his father, Jerry Tilley of Litchfield; brother, Jerald Tilley of Gillespie; sisters, Lisa Kirby of Hillsboro, Renee Blevins of Gillespie; and grandmother, Jane Tilley of Litchfield. Preceding him in death were his mother, Joann Tilley, and grandparents, Roy Tilley, Joseph and Verna Valerio.
Timmermann, Melvin T.
Funeral Mass for Melvin T. "Tim" Timmermann, founder of Timmermann Implement Company here, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Meaghan Gates Memorial Fund at Nerinx Hall High School, 530 East Lockwood boulevard, Webster Groves, MO 63119. Mr. Timmermann, of Litchfield, died at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 1998, in his home. He was 79 years old on February 16. He was born in Breese, a son of Joseph and Olga Hilmes Timmermann, and reared on a dairy farm near there. He enlisted in the John Deere Battalion in 1942, during World War II. He spent the war years near Salt Lake City, Utah, as an administrator of German prisoner of war camps. He started with John Deere in 1947 and started his own dealership in Belleville in 1950. He later moved to Milford where he established a John Deere business. In 1959, he and his family moved to Litchfield, operating Timmermann Implement Company, now located on Historic Old Route 66 South, since that time. Under the leadership of Timmermann, his son, Bill, and sonİinİlaw Phil West, the business has continued to expand and become a vital part of Litchfield industry. Mr. Timmermann retired from the business in the late 1980s. Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine M. McGinnis whom he married in April 1947; a son, William "Bill" Timmermann and wife Julie of Litchfield; daughters, Sherri McCory and husband James of Denver, Colo., Diane Gates and husband Bert of Shrewsbury, Mo., Kathy Caloia and husband Kelly of St. Charles, Patricia West and husband Phil of Litchfield; a brother, Vernon Timmermann of Grenada Hills, Calif.; eight grandchidlren, Conor and Kevin Caloia of St. Charles, Clare Gates of Shrewsbury, Colin and Michelle West, Colby, Hope and John Timmermann, all of Litchfield. Preceding him in death were a brother, Lester Timmermann and a granddaughter, Meaghan Gates. Services for Melvin T. Timmermann, of Litchfield, were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev. Father David Schmidt officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. She was 79 years old on August 20. She was born in Bluff Springs, a daughter of Lawrence H. and Nellie Lee Watson Curry. She married William R. Tinsley in 1937; he died in 1984. Mrs. Tiona died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 1999, in Pleasant Hill Village, Girard. She was 84 years old on April 28. She was a commercial artist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and later operated the family business, the Wood Hatchery in Sawyerville. She was born in Gillespie, a daughter of Fred and Annie Johnston Wood. Her husband, James A. Tiona, died May 16, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Carole Foster of Girard; and three grandchildren, Lynette Loges Dion of Burlington, Vt., Mark Loges of Chatham, Brian Loges of Beaufort, Mo. Preceding her in death were two sons in infancy and a brother, Fred Wood Jr.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Sorento American Legion or the Bond County Shrine Club. Mr. Tipsword died at 11:56 p.m. Friday, September 18, 1998, in Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Green ville. He was 68 years old on January 31. He was a life long resident of Sorento, with the exception of his service in the Army. He was Shoal Creek Township supervisor and a member of the Bond County Housing Authority. As a member of the Sorento Homecoming Association, he served as its parade chairman for 16 years. He was also member of Sorento Masonic Lodge 861, Sorento American Legion Post 713, Panama VFW, Bond County Shrine Club, Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis, Scottish Rites Bodies of Belleville. He was born in Sorento, a son of Kenneth and Roberta Olive Tipsword. He married Jewel Steele on October 27, 1956, in Green ville. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Sharon Eck and husband James Jr. of Springfield and two grandchildren, Sarah and Aaron Eck.

Services for Roberta Lavere Titcomb, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Brent Cloyd, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church. Mrs. Titcomb died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, June 8, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 79 years old on April 14. After graduating from Litchfield High School in 1937, she worked for a short time at Brown Shoe Company here. She moved to St. Louis where she was employed by Kroger Super Markets as a butcher and by McDonald Air Craft as a riveter. She returned to Litchfield in 1947 and worked for the school district for 27 years in the high school cafeteria. She retired from the position in 1981. She was also a beautician and had a shop in her home for 10 years. In addition, she worked in security at the high school football and basketball games. She was a member of VFW Post 3912 women's auxiliary, the Litchfield Senior Citizens Club and attended Litchfield Southern Baptist Church. She was born in Delhi, a daughter of George H. and Anna M. Barnett Saathoff. She married Kenneth H. Titcomb on October 29, 1939, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. He died March 15, 1974. Surviving are a daughter, Janet K. Bates of Ridgeville, S.C.; sisters, Mary A. Wood of Sparks, Nevada, Viola Mae Searles of Alton; and a grandson, Kenneth L. Bates of Charleston, S.C. Services for Roberta L. Titcomb, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. C. Brent Cloyd, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial wass in Elmwood Cemetery. During the service Michelle Sweet, organist, accompanied Shirley Edwards as she sang "Going Home" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were her grandson, Kenneth Bates of Charleston, S.C., and nephews, Jere Braden of Delvan, Bob Scoggins, Kenneth Searles, both of Alton, and friends, Dennis Morgan of Butler and Paul Morgan of Litchfield. Following the committal service a luncheon was provided for the family and friends by the VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Titcomb, 79, died Monday, June 8, in St. Francis Hospital.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. Mr. Titsworth died at 3:56 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999, in V.I.P. Manor, Wood River. He was 86 years old on Sept. 1. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Litchfield, an ordained minister since 1942, congregation overseer and elder. He has helped to build many Kingdom Halls as well as working for circuit assemblies, district conventions and volunteer projects. He worked in the construction industry with Wood River Labor Local 338 for 25 years before retiring in 1975. Before going into construction he was a laborer at Shell Oil Company in Wood River from 1942 to 1950 and also a hod carrier for bricklayers and plasterers. He was born in Grisham Township, a son of John and Etta Segrest Titsworth, and attended school in Cherry Grove and Donnellson. He married Letha Ola McPherson on January 9, 1932, in Hillsboro. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Joe Allen Titsworth and wife Jean of Bethalto, Jerry Eugene Titswroth and wife Theresa of Gillespie; a daughter, Mary Janice Hertzog and husband Floyd of Annville, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, Jimmy Lee Titsworth; brothers, Lon, Chauncey, Elmer and Claude Titsworth; and a sister in infancy. Services for Arthur Alson Titsworth, of Mt. Olive, were held at 10 this morning in Becker and Son Funeral Home there. Paul Mathenia officiated. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Taylor Springs. During the service musical selections played by pianist Amy Dragovich were "God's Promise of Paradise" and "LIfe Without End - At Last." Pallbearers were Brian Titsworth, Sam Titsworth, Joel Titsworth, Tim Hertzog, Tim Stinson, Josh Spink. Following the services a luncheon was served for family and friends by friends of the family in the Mt. Olive VFW Hall. Mr. Titsworth, 86, died Thursday, June 10, in V.I.P. Manor at Wood River.

Mrs. Todt died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, November 30, 1998, in her home. She was 65 years old on January 18. She was a secretary for Louis Marsh for 21 years, and formerly a Ricks Township tax assessor. She was a member of St. Marucie Catholic Church, the church Altar and Rosary Society, the Forresters and the American Legion Auxilary. She was born in Morrisonville, a daughter of Linus and Marie Millburg Grundy. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon "Tootie" Fliegle and husband John of Morrisonville; son Brad Todt and wife Marci of Hilton Head, S.C.; sisters, Margaret Held of Raymond, Catherine "Mick" Sheedy, Theresa Seelbach, Alice "Pudge" Downey, Rose Gowin, all of Morrisonville, Ruth "Tip" Matli of Harvel, Helen "Shorty" Healy, Mary Hilby, both of Springfield; brothers, Robert and Wayne Grundy of Morrisonville. Father Steven A. Janoski, pastor of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until oneİhalf hour before the service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Masses, the Saint Paul Education Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Todt died at 3:55 a.m. Monday, November 9, 1998, in St. Joseph Hospital, Highland. He was 67 years old on February 21. He was a territorial sales manager for Cargill Corporation before he retired. He then did volunteer work, driving for meals on wheels, gardening and traveling. He was reared on the family farm in the Harvel area. He farmed in livestock and grain there for many years and was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, serving on its board of directors for a number of years. In 1969, he quit farming and became national sales manager for Falstaff Feed of Springfield. He and his family moved to Highland in 1972. He went to work for Cargill in 1975. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Highland Council 1580. He was born on the family farm at Harvel, a son of Lawrence Joseph and Evelyn Weitekamp Todt. He married Shirley Brown on May 30, 1955, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Farmersville. She died on May 6, 1996. Surviving are sons, John P. Todt and wife Lynn, Gary L. Todt and wife Laurie, all of Highland, Steven J. Todt and wife Lisa of Troy; daughters, Linda N. Abendroth and husband Bill, Kathy D. Dumstorff and husband Jim, all of Highland, Lisa A. Todt of Manchester, Mo.; sisters, Marie Smith and husband Richard of Escondido, Calif., Dorothy Millburg and husband John of Hillsboro, Margaret Kieffer of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Marcella Stewart of San Marcos, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren, Michelle and Marshall Todt, Andy and Susan Abendorth, Ryan and Sara Dumstorff, Matthew and Nicholas Todt, all of Highland, and Kelsey True and Kara Todt of Troy. Preceding her in death were sisters, Lorraine and Theresa Todt.
Todt, Thomas Anthony
Thomas Anthony Todt, formerly of the local area, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999, in the Columbus, Ind., Regional Hospital following a short illness. He was 49 years old on October 20. Mr. Todt, of Columbus, Ind., was a salesman for Sears for 10 years and formerly for Lemley Catering in Columbus. He was also a 2nd Class Volunteer Firefighter for the Van Buren Township Fire Department. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Claude Anthony and Rita Bernadine Hough Todt. He graduated from Lincolnwood High School in the Class of 1967 and from Sangamon State University in 1972 with a degree in Communications. Surviving are a brother, John R. Todt and wife Ruth of East Peoria; sisters, Alice Rose Perry and husband John of Wailuku, Hawaii, Margaret "Maggie" Jewitt and husband Larry of Clinton. Others surviving include uncles, Leo Hough of Litchfield, Jiggs and Bob Hough of Raymond; an aunt, Loretta Todt Lessman of Raymond; and a long time friend, Ben Watkins of Columbus. His parents preceded him in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bartholomew Catholic Oratory in Columbus with the Rev. Father Richard Hindel officiating. Burial will be in the Christianburg Cemetery in Brown County, Ind. The family will receive friends today in the Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike in Columbus. Services for Zyan Chase Bishop-Tolley, infant son of Ronald Scott Tolley of Springfield and Keri Michelle Bishop of Litchfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home. Surviving besides his parents are maternal grandparents, Ronald Bishop of Sesser and Sandra Bishop of Litchfield; paternal grandparents, Bill and Toni Tolley of Springfield; maternal great grandmother, Gertrude Bishop of Litchfield. Following the committal service a luncheon was provided for the family and friends by the Women of the Moose. The baby, son of Ronald S. Tolley and Keri M. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Murel Donald and Garnett Belle Simpson Bangert, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1970. She married Richard Tomazzoli on August 22, 1970; they were later divorced. Surviving are a son, Shane Tomazzoli of Nokomis; parents, Murel and Garnett Bangert of Litchfield; brother, Bob Bangert and wife Joan of Litchfield; sisters, Vicki Corrado and husband Bob, Darla Feldmann and husband Wayne, all of Litchfield. Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Angela Sue Tomazzolli. Services for Linda Sue Bangert - Tomazzoli, of Nokomis, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Davis officiated. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery. During the service the vocalists, Mary Carroll and Gina Edrington, sang "How Great Thou Art." Edrington also sang "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Ramona Carroll was the organist. Pallbearers were her son, Shane A. Tomazzoli of Nokomis, brothers in law, Bob Corrado and Wayne Feldmann, both of Litchfield, also Nort Elam of Nokomis, Terry Huddleston of Coalton and Murel Sanders of Witt. Following the services a lunch were provided for family and friends in the VFW Post 3912 hall. Ms Bangert - Tomazzoli, 46, died Sunday, July 11, in St. Francis Hospital.

Services for Dorina Tonozzi, formerly of Gillespie, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kravanya Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie. Mrs. Tonozzi died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, November 9, 1998, in Lakeside Rehabilitation and Care Center, Lubbock, Texas. She was 97 years old on January 31. She was born in Acquaria, Provence De Modena, Italy, a daughter of Tobia and Teresa Tonelli Giordani. Her husband, Antonio Tonozzi, died December 28, 1981. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Hagberg and husband Charles of Lubbock, and two grandchildren, Cindy McCormick of Denver, Colo., and Robert Hagberg of Lubbock.
