Witt, Asa

Services for Asa Witt, of Butler, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Patton Memorial Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Ronald Rhodus, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 1306 of Taylor Springs. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Cancer Society. Mr. Witt died at 4:33 a.m. Monday, January 25, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 73 years old on August 1, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to the Butler area in 1993, and before that resided in Lee Junior, Ky. He was a coal miner and worked for Consolidated Coal, Peabody Coal and the Arch Mineral Companies. From 1971 to 1973, he worked at the Hillsboro Mine at Coffeen. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio and the United Mine Workers of America Local 7425 in Kentucky. He was born in Lou Ellen, Ky., a son of Thomas and Minnie Creech Witt. He married Ollie Creech on July 30, 1946, in Harlan, Ky. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Delmer Witt and wife Lisa of Hillsboro, Elmer Witt and wife Linda of Taylor Springs, Dennis Witt and wife Linda of Eldorado; daughters, Sharon Selsek and husband John of Bayard, W.Va., Karen Pearson and husband Dwight of Mt. Carmel; brothers, Aaron Witt and wife Frieda, Glenn Witt and wife LaVada, James Witt and wife Rosemary, all of Louisville, Ky., Thomas Witt and wife Thelma, Wayne Witt and wife Reva, all of Closplint, Ky.; sisters, Dorles Clemens of Louisville, Ky., Sue Gilbert of Evarts, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel Witt and wife Stephanie of Alamogordo, N.M., Benjamin Witt of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jonathan Witt of Hillsboro, Byron Witt and Graham Witt, both of Taylor Springs, Amanda Witt and Jeremy Witt, both of Eldorado, Franklin Pearson of Mt. Carmel; and one great grandchild, Cody Witt of Alamogordo.

Wittnam, Cleda L.

Services for Cleda L. Wittnam, of Witt, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Witt Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Elmer Fenton and Chad Abbott officiating. Burial will be in the Irving Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Witt. Miss Wittnam died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, August 9, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. born in Witt Township, a daughter of Francis Oliver and Maude Viola Neisler Wittnam, she was 92 years old on October 30 and the last surviving member of her family. She worked for the dress factory before she retired and was an active member of the Witt Presbyterian Church, the Farmers Institute and the N.O.W. Senior Citizens. Preceding her in death were three sisters, Dorothy, Eva and Iona

Wojtkiewicz, Viola B.

Services for Viola Boyd Wojtkiewicz, of Gillespie, were held Sunday in Kravanya Funeral Home there. Burial was in Gillespie City Cemetery. Mrs. Wojtkiewicz died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 80 years old on December 18. She was born in Gillespie, a daughter of William B. and Viola Emmons McKechan. She married Stanley Wojtkiewicz on June 26, 1937, in Chicago. He survives. Surviving also are a sister, Dorothy McKechan of Gillespie; three grandchildren, Tamara Kruitz of Elgin, Lindsay Siem of Gillespie, Jonathan Siem of St. Charles; and a great granddaughter, Sheridan Kruitz of Elgin. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Rachelle Siem and a grandson, Christopher Siem.

Wolf, Clarence F.

Services for Clarence F. Wolf, Staunton, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Williamson Funeral Home there with Steve Revisky officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Christian Church. Mr. Wolf died at 8:37 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 1999, in his home. He was 74 years old on June 14, and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and mechanic for 16 years, worked for the Hamel Implement Company, and was also custodian at Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton for nine years. He currently managed the Staunton Super Wash. He was a member of Walshville Christian Church. He was born in Worden, a son of Henry and Julia Kipp Wolf. He married Nadine Joyce on March 12, 1955, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hamel. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Susan Spears of Staunton; brother, Melvin Wolf and wife Marge of Oceanside, Calif. Others surviving include two sisters in law, Elva Wolf of Jefferson City, Mo., Olga Wolf of Worden. Preceding him in death were brothers, Henry, Arnold, Arthur, Wilfred and three in infancy; and a sister, Martha Suhre.

Wolff, Cora Mae

Services for Cora Mae Wolff, of Litchfield, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Langhoff officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to either Zion Lutheran Church or the Lupus Foundation. Mrs. Wolff died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1998, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was 67 years old on May 12. She attended the Alton School of Cosmetology and after becoming a licensed beautician she opened Cora's Country Shop in Litchfield. She also worked at Litchfield Floral. She enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and the Zion Ladies Aid. She was born in Macoupin County, a daughter of Miles Franklin and Esther Whitfield Slightom, and graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1949. She married Allen Wayne Wolff on September 3, 1950, in the Union Avenue Christian Church. He survives. Surviving are a son, Mark W. Wolff and wife Rhonda of Litchfield; daughters, Rhonda Lee Heafy and husband Paul of Oklahoma City, Okla., Linda Kaye Sisson of Chatham, Bonnie Furman and husband Andy of Litchfield, Della Witter and husband Bob of Oklahoma City; brothers, Donald Slightom and wife Helen of Plainfield, Dean Slightom of Girard, Dwight Slightom and wife LaVerne, Tom Slightom and wife Ruby, all of Carlinville, Dwayne Slightom and wife Irene of Atwater; sisters, Donnis Pettijohn and husband Harold of Litchfield, Carol Boehme and husband Leland of Taylorville; seven grandchildren, Kelly Heafy, Kerry and Kyle Bryant, Jeremy Sebring, Brian, Daniel and Jamie Wolff. Preceding her in death were a brother, Darrell Slightom and a sister, Shirley Carroll. Services for Cora Mae Wolff, of Litchfield, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Donald Langhoff officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Musical selections were "I Am Trusting You, Lord Jesus" and "Jesus, Still Lead On." Tim Bagby, organist, accompanied the congregation. Pallbearers were Daniel Wolff, Brian Wolff, Kyle Bryant, Herman "Bud" Helgen, Ronald Grosenheider and Raymond Johnson, all of Litchfield. Following the services a meal was provided for family and friends by the Zion Ladies Aid. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wolff, 67, died Tuesday, October 27, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Woltmann, Lois

Lois Woltmann, formerly of Nokomis, died Sunday, October 31, 1999, in Holland, Mich., Community Hospital. She was 84 years old. Mrs. Woltmann, a resident of Saugatuck, Mich., resided in Nokomis with her husband John Thomas Woltmann from 1945 to 1955. Their daughters attended Nokomis schools. She was born in Grand Rapids and reared in Holland. Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Hawley and husband the Rev. David Hawley of Delavan, Wis.; brothers and sisters, Janet and Ken Owens of Marquette, Alyda Karsten and Lavina Knapp of Holland. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1991 and a daughter, Sally Davis in 1975. Services were held in Michigan with burial in the Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Wood, Jerry E.

Services for Jerry E. Wood, of Waggoner, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the First United Presbyterian Church of Raymond with the Rev. James Tomson officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery at Raymond. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church of Raymond or the Waggoner Centennial Memorial Fund. Mr. Wood died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 71 years old on October 22, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer before he retired, and past commander of the Everett C. Burton Post 701 of Waggoner, past director and treasurer of the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, past treasurer of Pitman Township Park District, and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Raymond. A life-long resident of Waggoner, he was born there, a son of Glenn D. and Beulah Denby Wood. He married Mary Lou Molohon on October 7, 1950, in the First United Presbyterian Church. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Kevin Wood and wife Bonnie of Raymond, Steven Wood and wife Angie of Waggoner; daughters, Cathleen Rockwell and husband Dennis of Harvel, Deborah Mulch and husband Thomas of Harvel; and eight grandchildren.

Woodman, Thomas C.

Thomas C. Woodman, brother of Harvey Woodman of Litchfield, died Monday, October 25, 1999, in his home in St. Augustine, Fla. He was 61 years old on January 10, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He resided in Litchfield for many years. A mechanic, he worked for a time at Ron's Standard Station at Varner's Truck Stop. He was also parts manager for M.I. Ford for many years. He lived in St. Augustine for the past 18 years and worked as a truck mechanic. He was born in Alton, a son of Clifford and Vera Mae Campbell Woodman. His first wife was the former Wilma Presley. Later, he married Pam Fey and she survives in St. Augustine. Surviving also are daughters, Pam Weaver and Becky Avery, both of Missouri, and Amanda Elizabeth Maxie of St. Augustine; sister, Audrey Gates of Pana; and five grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mildred Brooks. Services were held in St. Augustine. The remains were cremated. Craig Funeral Home was in charge.

Woodruff, Todd R.

Services for Todd R. Woodruff, of Hillsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cloggett Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near there. Mr. Woodruff, 30, died Sunday, December 13, 1998, in the same accident near Taylorville in which the Luttrell's died. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, a son of Eugene and Joyce Lawsen Woodruff. Surviving are a daughter, Bridget Woodruff of Jefferson City, Mo.; mother, Joyce Woodruff of Vandalia; brothers, Daryl Woodruff of Austin, Texas, Tom Woodruff of Vandalia; sisters, Terry Dick of Ypsilanti, Mich., Carol Barker of Austin, Texas.

Woolum, Helen Marie

Helen Marie Woolum, who has relatives here, died Wednesday, December 2, 1998, in Highland Hospital at Bossier City, La. She was 64 years old on June 18. She was born in Coffee County, Tennessee, a daughter of Henry and Effie Elliott Duncan. She worked in food service. Surviving are daughters, Linda Gail Wilson of Bossier City, Sandra Killen of Gardnerville, Nevada; a son, Randall Woolum of Shreveport, La.; brothers, Carl, Kenneth and Hollis Duncan, all of Litchfield; and six grandchildren. Funeral services took place in Winchester, Tenn., with burial in the Franklin Memorial Gardens there. The brothers and Ronnie Duncan, wife of Hollis, attended.

Wright, Donald H.

Donald H. Wright died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, December 6, 1998, in St. Louis University Hospital. A resident of Hillsboro, Mo., he was 61 years old on April 27. He was president of a heavy industrial construction company at Hillsboro. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of Basil and Dorothy Cooper Wright. His wife, the former Patricia Stephens survives. Surviving also are a son, Donald C. Wright; a daughter, Kimberly Wright; step daughter, Kathleen Unwin and husband Donald; mother, Dorothy Wright; sister, Linda Wike; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth. Preceding him in death were his father, Basil Wright and brothers, Basil L. and Robert D. Wright. Services were held this morning at Kutis Affton Chapel. Burial was in Shepherd Hills Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital. Expressions of condolence may be sent to the family in care of the Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Grovis, St. Louis, MO 63723.

Wright, Edith Marie

Services for Edith Marie Haney Wright, mother of June Mueller of Litchfield, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in McCracken Funeral Home, Pana, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mrs. Wright died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1998, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 84 years old on October 3. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Pana Community Hospital and nursing homes in Mt. Auburn and Taylorville before she retired. She resided most of her life in the Tower Hill, Pana and Taylorville areas. She was born in Shobonier, a daughter of Coy and Rose Barbee Dilley. She married her first husband, William Haney on August 3, 1931. In 1971, she married Ralph Wright. Both husbands preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Thomas Roy Haney of Taylorville; daughters, Naomi Wallis of Shelbyville, Ilene Matthews and husband Leland of Pana, June Mueller and husband Marvin of Litchfield; brothers, Lloyd Dilley of Long Branch, N.J., Gerald Dilley of Tower Hill; sister, Dona Sims of Maroa; 16 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers and sisters, Orville, Kenneth, Dale, Opal and Lucille; two grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Wright, H. Bruce

Graveside services for H. Bruce Wright, Jr., brother of Beth Wimberly of Litchfield, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Mechanicsburg Cemetery with the Rev. Jack P. Joyner officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Mt. Auburn Rescue Squad. Mr. Wright died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 1998, in his rural Mechancisburg home. He was 45 years old on July 13. He worked for Guiffre Buick in Springfield and was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Tri City High School. Son of Rev. Harvey and Marjorie Chapman Wright, he was born in Springfield. His parents survive along with two other sisters, Hope of Springfield and Cheryl of Mechanicsburg. The remains will be cremated. Fullenwider Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Wylder, Mildred R.

Services for Mildred Rose Wylder, formerly of the area, will be held at 11 a.m. Thrusday in the United Methodist Church of Clinton with the Revs. Penny Barger and David Michel officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery there. Friends may call on Thursday after 10 a.m. at the church. Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to the United Methodist Church of Clinton, DeWitt County Cancer Fund or the Diabetes Foundation. Mrs. Wylder, of Clinton, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, December 20, 1999, in BroMenn Regional Medical Center at Normal. She was a retired teacher, member of the Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star in Palmyra and the DeWitt Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was born in Pearl, Ill., a daughter of John Henry and Birdie Rose Wilson. She married Joseph Wylder on August 18, 1926, in Jacksonville. He survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Mary Jo Michel of Lincoln; sons, George Wylder and wife Carole, Tim Wylder, all of Clinton, and Tom Wylder and wife Vicki of Tallahassee, Fla. Preceding her in death were a brother and three sisters.

Wylder, Wilfreda A.

Services for Wilfreda A. Wylder, of Country View Estates Health Care Centre, Green ville, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Donnell©Wiegand Funeral Home there. The Rev. Allen Blackburn officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Reno. The family suggests memorials be directed to Country View Estates. Miss Wylder died at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 1998, in Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Green ville. She was 83 years old on September 13. She was born near Lauder, a daughter of William Carl and Katie Spies Wylder, and was reared in Reno. She attended country schools and resided in Reno all of her adult life. Surviving are sisters, Pauline Finke of Reno, Geraldine Grove and husband Thomas of Staunton. Other survivors include a niece, Katherine Vesper of Staunton and a nephew, Carl Scott of DuQuoin.

Yakos, Barbara V.

Services for Barbara V. Yakos, of Staunton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Kevin Boesen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Staunton Memorial Hospital or the First United Methodist Church of Staunton. Mrs. Yakos died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. She was 87 years old on June 7. She taught at the Staunton High School from 1946 until her retirement in 1974. She also taught in a country school for 7 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Staunton, Delta Kappa Gama society for teachers and the Retired Teachers Association. She was born in Biggsville, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dixon. She married Anton Yakos on June 25, 1949, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Roger Howard Perrin of Country Club Hills; sister, Arline Smith of Monmouth; grandsons, Mike Perrin of Park Forest, Bruce Perrin of Charleston; and one great grandson, Thomas Perrin of Park Forest. Preceding her in death was a sister, Evelyn.

Yanor, Monica L.

Services for Monica Lee Susinkas Kennedy Yanor, formerly of Nokomis, were held Friday in Kirlin - Egan and Butler Funeral Home, Springfield. The Rev. Thom Dennis and Rev. Robert Ervin officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Yanor, of Chatham, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 78 years old on September 8. She was an accountant for several years with Sangamo Electric and also worked as a designer for Chrysler Corp. in Detroit. She most recently attended the United Methodist Church of Loami and was a member of the Church of the Little Flower. First woman to hold a hunter and safety instructor license, she was the co-founder of the Hunter Safety Clinic. She was a member of the Lithuanian American Club and served as its secretary of finances. She also volunteered at the Lincoln library in Springfield and the Chatham library. She was born in Nokomis, a daughter of Peter and Minnie Susinkas. She married Joseph W. Yanor in Springfield in 1946. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Ron Yanor and wife Faith of Chatham and two grandsons.

Yarbrough, Dorothy E.

Services for Dorothy E. Yarbrough, of Coalton, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Nokomis with the Rev. Jeff Bapst officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Mrs. Yarbrough died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, October 31, 1999, in Golden Manor Nursing Home, Nokomis. She was 82 years old on April 7. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nokomis, serving as the church hostess. She was also a member of the Home Extension. She was born in Parson, Kan., a daughter of Calvin and Gladys Elliot Lowe. She married Joseph Yarbrough on December 26, 1942, in Chicago. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Janet Graden and husband Dave of Nokomis, Marsha Thornton of Nokomis; sons, Joseph Yarbrough Jr. and wife Diane of East Lansing, Mich., John C. Yarbrough of Springfield; sister, Luveda Kessler of Buena Park, Calif.; brothers, Vernon Lowe of Tucson, Ariz., Beuford Lowe of Aurora; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Lawrence, Ivan, Kenneth, Duane, Darrel and Jay Lowe.

Yearsley, Betty J.

Graveside service for Betty J. Yearsley, formerly of Witt, will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Witt Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Martin officiating. Mrs. Yearsley, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., died Friday, June 11, 1999, in Harper Woods, Mich. She was 76 years old on January 23. She was born in Witt, a daughter of Victor and Margaret Merry Eddington. Her husband, Marshall Yearsley, survives. Surviving also are a son, Larry Yearsley of Nevada; a sister, Virginia Masters of Witt; and a grandson, Jeffry. An infant brother preceded her in death.
