Mrs. Freda W. Doyle (Frech)
Freda W. Doyle, 97, of Carrollton died at 10:50 A.M. Tuesday May 30, 2000
at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born in Carrollton on Dec. 23, 1902 she was the daughter of the late
Jacob and Paulina Goll Frech.
On Oct. 23, 1924 she married Lloyd R. Doyle in Missouri and he preceded
her in death in 1989. Surviving are:
a sister-Mildred Clark of Carrollton and several nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death were: a brother Ike Frech and 2 sisters: Meda
Tanner and Edith Varble.
Mrs. Doyle was one of the owners/operators of the Towne Shoppe in
Carrollton for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church
in Carrollton.
There is no visitation and private committal rites will held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Church. Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in Carrollton is in charge.
Mr. Warren E. Duff
Warren E. Duff, age 87, of Pittsfield, Ill. died 6:35 a.m. Monday (July 3, 2000) at the Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Ill.
He was born April 2, 1913 north of Pittsfield, Ill. son of the late Ernest and Alice Pickup Duff.
He married Dorothy Fields on April 21, 1956 in Pittsfield, Ill. and she survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Diane Duff of St. Joseph, Mo.; one sister, Marian Ebeck of Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Everett Duff of Salt Lake City, Nevada and Frank Duff of Peoria, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Katherine Offenbacker.
Mr. Duff farmed south of Time, Ill. retiring in 1977. As a young man he worked construction and helped build the Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. and the Pittsfield/Griggsville road, which is now known as Route 107. He also aided doctors and funeral directors as a young man by taking them by horse and buggy where they needed to go. Mr. Duff was well versed in Pike County history and was considered by many as a historian for the county. He was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, Ill. and was also a past member of various horse and saddle clubs and as a boy, was one of the first 4H youths in Pike County, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (July 6, 2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. Burial will be in Pittsfield West Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mounted Angels or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children c/o the funeral home.
James Robert Duffy
James Robert (Bob) Duffy, 67, of South Jacksonville died Thursday evening, November 23, 2000 at his residence.
He was born on August 6, 1933 in San Francisco, California the son of James Matthew and Mary Jane Tidd Duffy. He married Janet E. Ryan on May 1, 1957 in DeWitt, Iowa. He later married Etheleen Looker in April of 1982 in Jacksonville and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ryan M. (wife, Kelly) Duffy of Denver, Colorado; four daughters, Roberta M. (husband, Al) Davis of Seattle, Washington, Colleen K. Snyder of Lincoln, Nebraska, Erin E. (husband, Don) Bargman of Rock Island and Paula J. Moore of St. Louis, Missouri; three step sons, Gary D. (wife Terri) Looker of Waverly, Mike (wife, Ellen) Looker of Chatham and Danny Looker of Grand Junction, Colorado; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one sister, Dolores (husband, George) Vens of Bettendorf, Iowa.
Mr. Duffy was an insulator with Mechanical Insulation Company of Kewanee for over 30 years. He served in the United States Navy and was member of American Legion Post #279, Jacksonville Moose Lodge where he was a Past-Governor, and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #1379. Mr. Duffy was of the Catholic Faith.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to South Jacksonville Rescue Squad or the American Lung Association.
Mrs. Jennie M. Dunn
Jennie M. Dunn , 83 of Lynnville died Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at her residence. She was born on June 24, 1916 in Jacksonville the daughter of George and Emaline Stevens Jameson. She married Floyd Dunn on March 24, 1939 in Paris, Missouri and he survives.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Byus and Florence Weber, and two brothers, George Jameson and William Jameson (surviving wife June of Jacksonville.)
Mrs. Dunn was a hairdresser, operating for many years out of her home in Lynnville. She was a member of the VFW, Moose, and American Legion Auxiliaries and a lifetime member of the Amvets Auxiliary. Her greatest joys were family gatherings and tending to her home and garden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Visiting Nurses of Central Illinois, Jacksonville Branch; or the Alzheimers Association.
Mrs. Bernice Elaine Dunseth (Ruble)
Bernice Elaine Dunseth, 83, of Macomb, formerly of Waverly, died Thursday evening, November 9, 2000 at Heartland Healthcare In Macomb. She was born on January 7, 1917 in Murrayville, a daughter of Arthur F. and Agnes M. Smith Ruble. She married James Roscoe Dunseth on July 7, 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1999.
Surviving are two sons: Jay (wife, Linda) of Pana; Max (wife, Sue) of Sciota, IL, two grandsons: Jason and Jared of DeKalb, and one granddaughter, Tamera (husband, Major Eric) Niksch of Wiesloch, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Jean Lutrell.
Mrs. Dunseth taught school in Barry, IL; Franklin, IL; and Waverly, IL and was a lifetime member of NEA and IEA. She was also a bookkeeper for Ruble Chevrolet in Franklin and Waverly.\
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2000 at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Methodist Church Elevator Fund; McDonough District Hospital Endowment Fund; Pna Carnegie-Schuylar Library or Pana Community Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Loraine M. Edwards (Couch)
Loraine M. Edwards, age 78, of Hillview, formerly of White Hall,
died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born July 26, 1922 in Silver Mine, Missouri, the daughter of
Joseph W. and Clara Mabel Meagher Couch.
She first married Glen Lawson and he preceded her in death. She
later married Alec Edwards on Dec. 15, 1961 in Woodriver and he preceded
her in death on Nov. 9, 1988.
She is survived by three sons, William Glen (wife, Shirley) Lawson
of Prairietown; Michael E. (wife, Judy) Edwards of Lake Egypt and
Richard W. (wife, Bonita) Edwards of Hillview; seven grandchildren; four
great grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph L. Couch of Alhambra and
Charles W. Couch of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by one sister,
Frances Couch and 2 brothers, John and Howard Couch.
Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial in the Rose Lawn
Memorial Gardens in Bethalto. The family will meet friends from 4:00-8:00
p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the
American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Dorris Edwards (Teaney)
Dorris Teaney Edwards, 82, of Franklin, formerly of Waverly, died Saturday morning, November 11, 2000 in Carlinville Area Hospital, in Carlinville. She was born on September 17, 1918 in Franklin, a daughter of Walter and Lily Lyons Teaney. She married Wilbur Lee Edwards on February 14, 1945 and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1994.
Surviving Mrs. Edwards are: one son, Richard (wife, Karen) of Visalia, California; one daughter, Karen (husband, Charles “Woddy”) Wood of Franklin; two brothers: Ted (wife, Shelby) Teaney and Don (wife, Pat) Teaney all of Elden, Missouri; one sister, Wilma (husband, Earl) Mills of Pana; two grandsons: Lance (wife, Tammy) Miner of Waverly and Christopher Edwards of Visilia, California; one great grandson, Luke Rawlings of Waverly, and one great-grandaughter, Brianna Miner of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Mrs. Edwards was a retired beautician and she and her husband owned and operated Waverly Red and White Grocery for many years.
She was an avid Trout fisherman and was a member of the Waverly Congregational Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at the Congregational Church in Waverly. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will be in Waverly east Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad or the Loyal Seniors of Waverly.
Mr. James Edward Evans
James Edward Evans, 58, of Jacksonville died Wednesday afternoon at Modern Care Convalescent Facility in Jacksonville. He was born February 2, 1942 in Scott County, Ilinois, the son of Ralph W. and Mary Margaret Flanagan Evans. He married Doris Dufelmeier on July 11, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neelyville and she survives.
He is also survived by his mother of Alsey; two sons, Chris Evans and Patrick Michael Evans, both of Jacksonville; one daughter, Theresa Evans of Jacksonville; one brother Larry Evans of rural Winchester; one sister, Mary Catherine Evans of Winchester and his father and mother-in-law, John and Mabel Dufelmeier of Chapin. He was preceding death by his father and one sister, Patricia Jean in infancy.
Mr. Evans was a Fork Lift operator and warehouse worker at A.C. Humko in Jacksonville. He has served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and Amvets Post #100 in Jacksonville and had been a Cub Scout Leader for Troop 106 in Jacksonville.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Salem Lutheran Church, where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m.. Burial will be at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Verna F. Farrow (Bartlett)
Verna F. Farrow, 85, of Eldred died on Tuesday evening September 19,
2000 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born on November 21, 1914 in Kane, Ill. the daughter of the late
Charles H. and Lucretia Bushnell Bartlett.
She married George R. Farrow on December 26, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo.
and he survives. Also surviving are: 3 sons: George (wife Judy) Farrow Jr.
of Eldred, Don (wife Sharon) Farrow of Springfield, Jerry (wife Sharyn)
Farrow of Poway, Calif. 2 daughters: Linda (husband Gary) Reif of
Jacksonville and Carol (husband Robert) Piper of Jacksonville. 13 grand and
12 great grandchildren. 1 brother Gilbert Bartlett of Jerseyville and 2 sisters:
Enis Redden and Bertha Kraut both of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mrs. Farrow was a member of the Eldred Baptist Church, the Green e
County Home Extension and the Carrollton Rug Club. She enjoyed quilting,
sewing and painting.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in Carrollton. Services will be held on Sat. at 10 A.M. at the funeral
home with the Rev. Jon Lobos officiating. Burial will be in the Eldred
Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Eldred. Memorial may be made to the Eldred
Baptist Church.
Betty J. Fisher (Morris)
Betty J. Fisher, 68, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, December 9, 2000 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on March 2, 1932 in Concord the daughter of Lloyd and Isabelle O’Banion Morris. She married Leonard W. Fisher on March 25, 1972 in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, James M. Graves of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; four daughters, Linda Vincent of Meredosia, Virginia Wilham of Williamsville, Chris (husband, Reg) Markillie and Sally Ann Fisher, both of Jacksonville; one step-son, Terry (wife, Jan) Fisher of Roodhouse; four step-daughters, Teresa A. (husband, Chris) Schumacher of Forked River, New Jersey, Erma Fisher of White Hall, Malinda Jo Williams of Jacksonville and Valerie Gail (husband, Terry) Neff of White Hall; three granddaughters, nine step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one twin brother, Bill (wife, Lela) Morris of Cuba, Illinois.
Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ginda Sue O’Hagen.
Mrs. Fisher was a homemaker. She had worked at Carnation for fourteen years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, and had attended Church of the New Covenant. She was an avid participant in the Dress-A-Doll competition at Elliott State Bank (now Firstar,) having won nearly every year she competed. She loved sewing, crafts, and dollmaking.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m.on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Firstar Dress-A-Doll Contest or the Memorial Medical Center Foundation to benefit the Oncology Unit.
Rebecca J. Flynn (Gibson)
Rebecca J. Gibson Flynn, 57, of Bloomington and formerly of Jacksonville died early Thursday morning, November 23, 2000 at Bromenn Hospital in Bloomington. She was born on September 21, 1943 in Jacksonville the daughter of William and Rosemary Vasey Gibson.
She is survived by one son, Russell (wife, Tracey) Flynn of Bloomington; two daughters, Rita Susan (husband, Don) Arthur of Jerseyville and Rosemary Anders of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Casey Russwinkel, Sarah Russwinkel, and Rachel Porter; four brothers, William (wife, Darlene) Gibson of Woodson, Mike (wife, Donna) Gibson of Franklin, Joe Gibson of Bloomington, and Pat (wife, Betty) Gibson of Jacksonville; and one sister, Karen (husband, Earl) Jackson of Jacksonville.
Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Joseph Flynn.
Mrs. Flynn had dedicated her life to nursing and working with the developmentally disabled. She had been a nurse for many years at both the Jacksonville and Lincoln Developmental Centers, and earlier at Passavant Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends from noon Tuesday until the time of service. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
Helen L. Ford (Westerhold)
Helen L. Ford, 88, of Roodhouse died at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday Dec. 3, 2000
at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
Born on Jan. 27, 1912 in Jersey County she was the daughter of the late
Edward F. and Mary Stahlhut Westerhold.
On Jan. 22, 1950 she married Buell S. Ford in White Hall and he
preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1995.
Surviving are a step-daughter: Ruth Ford of Jacksonville, a sister: Vera
Childress of Roodhouse, a brother: Edward Westerhold of White Hall, her
very special friend and caregiver Kathy Kuykendall, 6 nieces, 4 nephews,
several cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Alfred, Raymond, Leo, Louis,
and Glenn Westerhold and 1 sister: Edna W. Douglas, 1 nephew and 2 step
sons: Caroll and Jim Ford.
Mrs. Ford was a retired farm lady. She had helped operate Drake Apple
Shed many years ago. She loved to play card games. She was a past
member of the Green e Co. Republican Women, the White Hall VFW
Auxiliary and a member of the Presbyterian Faith.
Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until service time at 2 P.M. on
Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Burial will
be in the White Hall Cemetery. Memorials are to the White Hall Multicare
Center Activity Fund.
