Arney, Dr. William G.
Dr. William G. Arney, formerly of Litchfield, died Wednesday, November 11, 1998, in St. Mary's Health Center, Richmond Heights, Mo. He was 78 years old. He was a psychiatrist in private practice in St. Louis for 40 years and was on the staff of Deaconess and Lutheran Hospitals. He was a former Boy Scout leader and also volunteered to do medical examinations for the scouts. He received several awards in scouting, including the Silver Beaver, the highest honor given to an adult volunteer. He was born in Litchfield and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. Louis University. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary E. ARney; daughter, Adrienne Friederich of Kirkwood, Mo.; sons, William Arney Jr. of Ballwin, Mo. and John M. Arney of Biloxi, Miss; and nine grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Kirkwood, Mo. He was entombed in the Resurrection Mausoleum.

Memorial service for Annette C. Arnold, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, in the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield. The Rev. Richard Olson, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Arnold died at 2:35 this morning, Thursday, May 27, 1999, in her home. She was 72 years old on January 20. She worked for the State of Illinois Employment Securities and also as an office manager in Ltichfield. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and its L.P.W. She was also a member of P.E.O., St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, past member of Litchfield Woman's Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was born in Chicago, a daughter of Carl and Ilo Brown Schroeder. She amrried Bert C. Arnold on September 10, 1949, in Chicago. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Patricia Brockhaus and husband Larry of Encinitas, Calif., Margaret Brockhaus and husband Jerry of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Michael and Kacie Brockhaus of Overland Park and Ashley and Andrew Brockhaus of Encinitas. preceding her in death was a sister, Dorothy Barnard. Memorial service for Annette C. Arnold, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment was in Elmwood Cemetery. A P.E.O. Remembrance was presented before the service by Anne Hantla, Gwen Floreth, Dodie McWilliams and Marilyn McKay. During the service Linda Maulding played the organist, accompanying soloists, Jane Leitschuh in "Because You Loved Me" and Judi Olson in "You'll Never Walk Alone." She also accompanied the congregational singing of "Holy, Holy, Holy." Meinschein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Arnold, 72, died Thursday, May 27, in her home.

Services for George William "Dub" Ash, of Sorento, were held at 3 p.m. today in Perfetti Funeral Home there. The Rev. Norman Fenton officiated. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. Mr. Ash died at 10:05 a.m. Monday, March 15, 1999, in his home. He was 85 years old on October 28, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired Shell Oil Refinery employee, and a member of American Legion Post 713, Sorento. He was born in Sorento, a son of Walter J. and Fairy B. Thompson Ash, and resided all of his life in the community. He married Eva Mae Overstreet on May 29, 1937, in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death. Surviving is a daughter, Georgia Anabel Bonds of Wichita, Kan., two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services for Daniel D. Ashinhurst, of Morrisonville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Moffitt Funeral Home there with the Rev. L.E. Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Ashinhurst died November 16, 1999, in Princeton. He was 51 years old on April 6. A life long resident of the Morrisonville and Palmer areas, he was a truckdriver for Badman and Son Trucking of Palmer, and an Army veteran. He was born in Taylorville, a son of Albert "Cam" and Ruth Clark Ashinhurst. Surviving are a son, Clinton Lee Linder of Taylorville; a daughter, Kim Burchi and husband Jack of Springfield; sister, Berdella Fathauer and husband C.W. of Assumption; and three grandchildren.

Opal M. Ater, grandmother of Jeff Higgins of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in Clinton. A resident of Maroa, she was 92 years old on February 7. She was born in Xenia, a daughter of Shannon Hudelson and Doshia Belle. She married Vernon Lloyd Ater on April 17, 1932, in Decatur; he died January 27, 1991. Surviving are daughters, Betty Terrell of Stoughton, Bernadine Higgins of Chestnut; brother, Bob Hudelson of California; sister, Elvadine Smith of Peoria; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services were held Saturday in Clinton with burial in Point Pleasant Cemetery at Long Creek.

Services for Mary A. Athy, formerly of Litchfield, were held Tuesday in McNabb Funeral Home, Pocahontas, Ark. Burial was in Maynard Cemetery there.Mrs.Athy, of Pocahontas, died Sunday, August 2, 1998, in Randolph County Medical Center there. She was 69 years old on February 12. She worked as a waitress. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Clarence and Inez Stevens Allen, and attended Litchfield High School, graduating in the class of 1946. Her husband, Doyle Athy, survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Melody Turner of Pocahontas; a sister, Margaret Lebeter of Mt. Olive; brothers, Robert Allen of Litchfield, Bill Allen of Highland; and one grandchild, Anna Marie Turner of Pocahontas. Preceding her in death was a brother, John Allen.

Services for James Leslie Atkins, of Litchfield, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald D. Rhodus officiating. Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Atkins died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 82 years old on June 11, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a pipefitter and worked for Miles Laboratory in Granite City. He had also worked for Emerson Electric in St. Louis. He was born in Dover, Tenn., a son of Reuben and Betty Newberry Atkins. He married Martha Rebecca Hagler on June 5, 1974. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Rev. Leslie Atkins and wife Nancy of Granite City, Bill Atkins and wife Susan of Hillsboro; daughters, Cheryl Haarstick and husband Joseph of Raymond, Tamara Thompson and husband Kevin of Litchfield; and 11 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, Cecil and Monroe Atkins and sisters, Evy Taylor, Bertha Cook and Desdie Atkins. Services for James Leslie Atkins, of Litchfield, were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro. The Rev. Dr. Ronald D. Rhodus officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. "It Is Well with My Soul" was sung by Peggy King. Wilma McCammack was the organist. Pallbearers were Jim Hefley, Todd Hennings, Ben King, Harold Tapley, Hershel Taylor and Mike Whitten. Plummer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Following the services a meal was provided for family and friends by the women of the church. Mr. Atkins, 82, died Wednesday, November 25, in St. Francis Hospital.
Atkinson, Emily Helen
Emily Helen Atkinson, formerly of Hillsboro, died Monday, December 21, 1998, in her home in Winchester. She was 81 years old on November 6. She was born in Linwood, Mo., a daughter of HErman and Emily Thomas Rascher, and attended school in the Fillmore and Hillsboro areas. She married Herbert Atkinson on September 15, 1946, in their home in Winchester. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Bonnie K. Atkinson of Jacksonville, patty Lynn Ward of Arenzville; a son, Ronald H. Atkinson of Winchester; sisters, Anna Toberman of Carlinville, Jane Atkinson of Longview, Wash.; three grandchildren and one great grandchildren. Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were a step father, Goldie Bulka, and a sister, Helen Rascher. Services were held in Winchester with burial in the Winchester City Cemetery.

Mrs. Atteberry died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in West Abbe Nursing Home, Springfield. She was 93 years old on February 19. She was born in Hornsby, a daughter of Wesley and Mary Blevins Davis. She married Glenn R. Atteberry on October 17, 1931 in Edwardsville. He died February 19, 1974. Surviving are a son, Robert "Bob" Atteberry of Dolan Springs, Ariz.; daughter, Linda Kamm and husband Dick of Cody, Wy.; sisters, Betty Shuey of Portland, Ore., Genevieve Woolary of Springfield; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Oren, Alvie, Clarence, Orville and Robert Davis, and a sister, Fern Davis. Services for Myrtle Ellen Atterberry, formerly of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Meinschein Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Bell, pastor of St. Timothy United Methodist Church, officiated. He married Mary Lou Kleinik on Decmeber 21, 1968, in Nokomis. Surviving are his his wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Toni Aumann of Pawnee, Tara Aumann of Carbondale, Tami Clymer and husband Roger of Nokomis; parents, Melvin and Thelma Aumann of Ohlman; brothers, Lee Aumann and wife Dixie of Rosamond, Nelson Aumann and wife Karen of Nokomis, Dennis Aumann and wife Sue of Ohlman; sisters, Dorothy Ulrici and husband Paul of Witt, Sandy Pinkston and husband Mike of Tower Hill; and a grandson, Luke Clymer of Nokomis.

She was born in Wilsonville, a daughter of Walter and Belinda Hershman Holmes. She married Brad Ayres on February 9, 1994, in Carlinville. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Sebastian Michael Ayres at home; mother and step father, Belinda and Henry Blevins of Gillespie; father and step mother, Walter and Roxanne Holmes of Wilsonville; brother, Walter R. Edith Bacon, of Hillsboro, died Monday, May 9, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 80 years old on March 5. born in Duluth, Minn., she was a daughter of Edwin and Olina Nygaard Gilbertson. There are no survivors. A son, Harry, preceded her in death. Remains will be cremated and burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday. Bagaglio, Carlo P.
Services for Carlo P. "Chuck" Bagaglio, of Livingston, were held at 11 this morning in Lesicko Funeral Home there. The Rev. Father George Radosevich and the Rev. Jeff McDonald officiated. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Bagaglio died at 6:05 a.m. Friday, February 5, 1999, in his home. He was 68 years old on May 5, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had resided in Livingston for 38 years and was a former trustee of the village. A steel worker, he worked at Granite City Steel for 33 years before retiring on January 31, 1994. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Livingston, Laborers Local 725 of Livingston, United Chemical Workers Local 50 of Granite City, and a former Little League manager in Livingston. He resided in Worden from 1946 to 1960, and was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 564 there. He also lived in Chicago for 15 years. He served with the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and earned the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was born in Chicago, a son of Carlo G. and Yolanda Sandrin Bagaglio. He married Marlene A. Keonig on October 1, 1960, in the Sacred Heart Church of Livingston. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Tony Bagaglio and wife Donna of Staunton; a daughter, Joni Bagaglio of Hamel; a sister, Antoinette "Dolly" Bagaglio of Soulsbyville, Calif.; brothers, Joe Bagaglio and wife Janet of Carlinville, Louis Bagaglio and wife Pat of Worden, Eugene Bagaglio and wife Mary of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Andrea and A.J. She was born in Pulaski, a daughter of William J. and Mamie Lackey Milford. She married Robert Bagby on October 17, 1942, in Sikeston, Mo. He survives. Surviving also are a brother, Floyd W. Milford of Homestead, Fla. and sisters, Doris Fesser of Taylorville and Wanda Walker of Savannah, Ga. Preceding her in death were sisters, Marie Galbraith, Laverne Capron and Alma Palmer.

Services for Evelyn Eileen "Peggy" Bahn, of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Johnson of Union Avenue Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Bahn died at 6:24 a.m. Monday, August 17, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 74 years old on May 9. She was a clerk with the State of Illinois Secretary of State office in the driver's license division. She also worked as a bartender at Pete's Corner and Shaw's Corner, both in Litchfield. She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 581 of Litchfield. She enjoyed playing bingo and the sport of fishing. She was born in Girard, a daughter of Roscoe and Evelyn Graham Walden, and graduated from Litchfield High School in the class of 1942. Her first marriage was to Earl Bailey and they later divorced. She later married Vernon Bahn. He died in 1981. Surviving are sons, Earl Bailey and wife Doris of Owaneco, Clifford Bailey of Litchfield; step son, Larry Bahn; step daughters, Deanna Dorsey of West Virginia, Cindy Bahn of Missouri; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a brother, Roscoe "Gene" Walden. Services for Evelyn Eileen "Peggy" Bahn, of Litchfield, were held at 10 a.m. today in Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. He also worked as a heavy set-up man for an implement company and drove for a charter bus service. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 1634 in Litchfield and life member of the Christian County Farm Bureau. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Jacob and Daisy Follis Bailey. He married Rolean M. Leitschuh in 1957 in Mississippi. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Lee Bailey and wife Loretta of Edinburg, Texas, Larry Bailey of Houston, Texas, Earl Eugene Bailey and wife Doris of Owaneco, Clifford Bailey and wife Gaye of Litchfield, Terry Bailey and wife Angie of Lake Ozark, Mo.; daughters, Deanna ... and husband Buddy of Nalle, W.Va., Cindy ... of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Nora Price of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1963, Daughter of the American Revolution since 1984 and the Business and Professional Women. She was born in Green ville, Ky., a daughter of Harold Bernard and Alpha May Gates Sweeney. She married David B. Bailey on October 12, 1957, in Shawneetown. He died September 3, 1995. Surviving are a son, David A. Bailey and wife Roxanna of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Tracy Bailey of Springfield; sister, Margaret Ann Buente and husband Richard of Glen Carbon; half-sisters, Sharon Shoemaker of Columbia, Patricia Pietz of California; three grandchildren, Michelle L. Bailey of Benton, Kaitlyn and Robby Bartoni of Mt. Vernon. Others surviving include a sister in law, Wanda Sweeney of Granite City. Preceding her in death were brothers, James and Elvis Sweeney.

Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Baker died at 4:48 p.m. Friday, October 2, 1998, in Hillsboro Hospital. She would have been 61 years old on October 4. She worked as a waitress. She was born in Irving, a daughter of Lonnie and Jean Keith Haycraft. Her first husband was Ronald Cravens. She married Kenneth Barker on February 25, 1996, and he survives. Surviving also are a son, Richard Cravens of Irving; a daughter, Lori Emerson of Irving; a brother, Robert Haycraft of Irving; and five grandchildren. A daughter, LaDawn died in 1959.

Graveside service for centenarian Elizabeth S. Baker, of Litchfield, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. James Howie of Donnellson officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends and family may gather at Meinschein Funeral Home at 2:15 p.m. for procession to the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Hospital Transitional Care unit. Miss Baker died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 100 years old on June 3. She was a teacher, serving two years at Hardinsburg Elementary school and 15 years in Litchfield Elementary schools. After graduating from Litchfield High School in 1917, she attended James Milliken University for two years and then graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Education. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Dr. Thomas T. and Eva Sinclair Baker, and never married. Her father was a dentist in Litchfield for many years. She was the last of her family. Preceding her in death were a brother, Sinclair Baker who died in 1910 at the age of 16 and a sister, Evelyn Baker who died August 27, 1989.
Gail
Gail Baker, of Carlinville, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998, in St. John's North, Springfield. She was 59 years old on July 23. She was a waitress at the Glades restaurant for 22 years and house manager with the CILA program of the Macoupin County Mental Health Department until retiring in 1985. She was born in Carlinville, a daughter of Harold and Virginia Young Keck. Surviving are daughters, Crystal Baker and Dana Lynn Baker, both of Springfield, and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Heinz Funeral Home, Carlinville. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
Baldovin, Virgil
Services for Virgil Baldovin, formerly of Panama, were held at 11 this morning in Perfetti Funeral Home there with the Rev. Linda Peyla officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Mr. Baldovin died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, October 9, 1998, in Heritage Manor of Chillicothe. He was 70 years old on April 21. Besides residing in Panama, he also lived in Chicago and in the Hammond, Ind., area. He was born in Panama, a son of Joe and Mamie Roseman Baldovin. Surviving is a son, John Baldovin of Hazel Crest; a daughter, Diana Baldovin of Homewood; brothers, Giordano Baldovin of Kent, Wash., Debs Baldovin of Morton, Delmo Baldovin of DeMottee, Ind.; sisters, Dolores Muscarello of Downers Grove, Morselloise Brewer of Park Forest, Beatrice Carpenter of Peoria. Preceding him in death were one sister and one brother.
Baldwin, Richard
Services for Richard Monroe Baldwin, of Waverly, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Youngblood Baptist Church in Nortonville. Burial will be in Youngblood Cemetery. Neece Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Baldwin died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Lake Lou Yaeger, Litchfield. He was 37 years old on December 3. He was born in Jacksonville, a son of James and Betty Louise Hauenstein Baldwin. His wife, the former Vicky Inman, survives. Surviving also are sons, Richard and Jessie and a daughter, Sharon Baldwin, all at home in Waverly; his mother, Betty Baldwin of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; brother, Timothy Hal Bartz of Arlington, Texas; sister, Mary Marie McCoy-Smith of The Colony, Texas; and grandparents, Richard and Marie Neal of Waverly.
Bale, Howard Eugene
Services for Howard Eugene Bale, brother of Marvin "Wimpy" Bale of Farmersville, will be held Wednesday in Hurley Funeral Home at Petersburg. Burial will be in Farmers Point Cemetery at Tallula. Mr. Bale, of Atterberry, died Sunday, January 17, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 70 years old on October 26, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a custodian in the state of Illinois Physical Services department before he retired in 1991. He was born in Menard County near Petersburg, a son of Harry F. and Edith M. Ferguson Bale. He married Joan Golliher in 1951 in Tallula. She survives. Surviving also are another brother, Kenneth Bale of Quincy; sisters, Norma Everett of Madison, Tenn., and Harlene Hinds of Quincy.
Balla, David R.
Services for David R. Balla, of rural Donnellson, were held at 11 this morning in Patton Memorial Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. William Baughman, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro, officiated. Burial was in the Donnellson Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the children. Mr. Balla died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, July 9, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 36 years old on June 13. He worked for Material Service Corporation in Nokomis as an equipment operator, and also helped on the family farm in rural Donnellson. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He was a 1981 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Dan R. and Millie F. Meffert Balla. He married Michele G. "Micki" Davis on June 29, 1985, in Donnellson. She survives. Surviving are a son and daughter, Seth D. and Sarah M. Ball, both at home; his parents, Dan and Millie Balla, of rural Donnellson; brothers, John A. Balla of Coffeen, Danny L. Balla of rural Donnellson; sisters, Barb Winkler of rural Donnellson, and Sandy Becker of Litchfield.
Ballard, Juanita M.
Services for Juanita M. Ballard, mother of Larry R. Ballard of Gillespie, were held Monday in Roodhouse with burial in Fernwood Cemetery there. Mrs. Ballard, of Roodhouse, died Friday, January 15, 1999, in Passavnat Hospital, Jacksonville. She was 81 years old on October 26. She was born in Roodhouse, a daughter of Ray and Alice Nell Short. She married Ward K. Ballard in 1942 in Rolla, Mo. He died in 1977. Surviving are another son, Dr. Phillip W. Ballard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Josephine Tooker of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
