Mrs. Lula Cole Hart (Cole)
Lula Hart Cole, 104, of Carlinville and formerly of Palmyra, died Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Sunshine Manor in Carlinville.
She was born on January 9, 1896 in South Palmyra Township, Macoupin County, the daughter of Ezekiel and Elsie Lurena Lamarr Cole. She married Merton A. Hart on January 3, 1917 in Macoupin County and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1965.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd L. and Ivan L. Cole; and one sister, Velda Cole Shaw.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2000 at the Stults Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Palmyra Christian Church.

Rev. Glen Calvin Hathaway
Rev. Glen Calvin Hathaway, 70, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, January 13, 2001 at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1930 in Chicago the son of David Glen and Frances Tramp Hathaway. He married Mary Utterback on September 10, 1955 in Indianapolis and she survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Diana (husband, Bob) Bassi of Franklin, Nita (fiancé Joe Simon) Hathaway of Rawson, Ohio, and Jeanette Wiley of Springfield; two sons, David (wife, Terri) Hathaway of Denmark, Wisconsin and Jon (wife, Lynnette) Hathaway of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Rev. Hathaway served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He graduated from Earlham College in June of 1957 and Chicago Theological Seminary and University of Chicago in 1961. He was ordained into the Christian Ministry of the United Church of Christ in 1961. He served churches in Galesburg, Michigan; Amherst, Ohio; Granville, Illinois; Upper Sandusky, Ohio; Pekin, Illinois; and the Jacksonville Congregational United Church of Christ, from which he retired in 1995 and was named Pastor Emeritus.
Rev. Hathaway held memberships in the Jacksonville Rotary Club, of which he was named a Paul Harris Fellow; Jacksonville Chapter of NAACP, St. Louis Botanical Gardens, and St. Louis Zoological Society. He was Past President of the League of Women Voters of Morgan County.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2000 at the Jacksonville Congregational United Church of Christ. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and following the service, at which time a light meal will be served. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Congregational United Church of Christ. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. John Robert Henderson
John Robert Henderson, 93, formerly of Franklin, died Sunday morning, February 4, 2001 at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on January 25, 1908 in Indian Point the son of James and Kate Henderson. He married Mary Margaret Tribble on January 8, 1949 and she preceded him in death on July 20,1987.
He is survived by one brother, Ernest “Pete” Henderson of Waverly, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Willie, and two sisters, Viola and Clara.
Mr. Henderson was employed by Allis-Chalmer as a factory laborer, retiring in 1970 after 25 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945, stationed in India.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 6, 2001 at Neece Funeral Home in Waverly with burial at Franklin Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad.

Mr. Del Ray Henderson
Del Ray Henderson, age 64, of Roodhouse, died Monday morning,
Oct. 16, 2000 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 1, 1936 in Roodhouse, the son of Thomas and Rosa
Johnson Henderson.
He married Karen D. Edwards on July 20, 1962 in Jerseyville and she
survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Dianna G. (husband, Steve)
Blackketter of Roodhouse and Karla K. (husband, Mark) Currie of
Roodhouse; four grandchildren, Justin Del Ray Henderson, who was raised
in their home; Jeffrey Thomas Henderson, Steven Thomas Blackketter and
Kristina Machelle Currie; three brothers, Ernest Henderson and Fred
Henderson, both of Roodhouse and William Henderson of St. Louis; and
one sister, Lena Mae McKean of Roodhouse. He was preceded in death by
one sister, Joyce Henderson and three brothers, Thomas, Homer and Carl
Henderson.
Mr. Henderson worked as a plumber’s assistant for many years and
then worked for the City of Roodhouse for several years. He loved to hunt
and fish and spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of
the White Hall Sportsmans Club.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000,
at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial in the
Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends from
4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
the Green e County Visiting Nurses.

Mrs. Madelyn Henry (Boren)
Madelyn Henry, age 90, of Pittsfield, Ill. died early Sunday morning (January 28, 2001) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill..
She was born June 15, 1910 in Montezuma Township, Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Petty Boren.
She married Don Sanderson on June 22, 1929 in Jacksonville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1969.
She later married Virgil Henry on
Surviving are two sons, Jim Sanderson of Pittsfield, Ill. and John Sanderson and wife Kay of Pearl, Ill.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bob (Mary Lou) Ridgeway of E. St. Louis, Ill. and Pat Labell of St. Peters, Mo.; five grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Cheryl) Hayes and Kerri Sanderson both of Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Bill (Valerie) Wiewel of Coatsburg, Ill., Ed Sanderson of Woodstock, Ill., and Kris Sanderson of Monroe City, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Kay Sediqi of E. St. Louis, Ill. and Mike Labell of St. Peters, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Gerard of St. Peters, Mo., and Retta Ruth Donham of Clinton, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Maurine Boren of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and one brother, Lyndle Boren.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Milton Christian Church and a charter member of the Pike County Home Extension Pearl and Milton Units. She was also a member of the Pittsfield Womens Club, the Pike County Historical Society, and a past member of the Pearl Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, antiques, music, and playing the piano.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (January 31, 2001) at the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Ill. with Rev. Jerry Edison officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery near Milton, Ill.. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Cancer Transportation Fund.

Jeanne Ann Herring
Jeanne Ann Herring, 75, of Winchester died early Friday afternoon (December 22, 2000) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
She was born June 14, 1925 in Fortuna, Missouri the daughter of the late Paul Henry and Emma Jane Duvall Lehman.
She married Albert W. Herring February 2, 1944 in Carlinville, IL.
He preceded her in death June 11, 1997. Also preceding her in death was a daughter Sarah Louise Herring.
Mrs. Herring served as Scott County Circuit Clerk for 20 years. She was the proprietor of Especially for You gifs and crafts on the Square in Winchester for 25 years. She had served as the organist for the Winchester United Methodist Church and for St. Mark’s Church in Winchester for over 50 years. She also taught piano lessons for several years.
She was a member of the P.E.O. and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved sewing and gardening.
Surviving are her children Rebecca (husband Mark) Petre of Seattle, Washington, Sam (wife Jonna) Herring of Winchester Paul (wife Kate) Herring of Exeter, and Molly (husband Dave) Ragan of Decatur. 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Sunday (December 24, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester with Fr. Charles Nelson officiating. Pallbearers were Lehman Herring, James Herring, David Herring, Nathan Ragan, Dan Maloney and Tim Meyer.
Burial was in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center or to the Winchester Kiwanis Club Food Pantry.

Mr. Don Hibbard
Don Hibbard, age 85, of Baylis, Illinois died Wednesday evening (October 4, 2000) at his daughter’s residence in rural Griggsville, Ill..
He was born September 14, 1915 in Travers City, Michigan son of the late Roy S. and Mabel Keen Hibbard.
He married Ellen Reinders on March 16, 1946 in Petersburg, Ill. and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Donna) Moore of rural Griggsville, Ill. and Mrs. Gary (Diane Jeanette) Lupton of Dekalb, Ill..; two sons, Dwayne “Butch” Hibbard and wife Janice of Griggsville, Ill. and Roy Hibbard and friend Pollie Schafer of Muncie, Indiana; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Ann Whitaker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Jeanne LaCount of Hayworth, Ill.; one brother, Stanley Hibbard and wife Maxine of Rockford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Helen Hibbard; and one great-grandson, James Daniel Wood.
Mr. Hibbard was a 1933 graduate of Four City High School in Four City, Illinois and was a grain and livestock farmer west of Baylis, Illinois for many years. He was a veteran of WWII serving as a Corporal in the US Army in the African and European theaters. He was a member of the Baylis United Methodist Church and the Pike County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday (October 6, 2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill.. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospice or to the Baylis United Methodist Church.

Mr. Donald Hillman
Donald Hillman, 67, of Carrollton died at 10 P.M. on Thursday May 25,
2000 at the Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 26, 1933 he was the son of the late George and
Sadie Turnbough Hillman.
After graduating from Pittsfield High School he went into the Army for 2
years and served in Korea. He was employed by GTE for 33 years as a
switching technician retiring in 1999. Upon retiring, Don enjoyed pitching
horseshoes with his friends, wood working and attending local sporting
events.
Surviving are 2 children: Robert “Mike” Hillman and his wife Sherrie of
Dow, Patricia Honey of Peoria Heights, Ill. , 3 grandchildren: Jennifer
Hillman of Dow and Rob and Cara Honey of Peoria Heights. Also surviving
are 2 brothers: Harold “Turney” Hillman of Taylorville, Ivan (wife- Glenna)
Hillman of Pittsfield and 2 sisters: Milred (husband-Richard) Arseneau of
Lees Summit, Mo. and Emma Knoth of Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by a brother Emmet Hillman and a sister Jaun
“Judy” Boren and a son-in-law Roy Honey.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Saturday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Sunday at 2 P.M.
with Dr. Ed Ferguson officiating. Burial will in the Carrollton City
Cemetery. Memorial may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Mary D. Hindelang (Dunsworth)
Mary D. Hindelang, 76, of Carrollton died at 6:30 P.M. on Friday July 7,
2000 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born in Carrollton on Sept. 11, 1923 she was the daughter of the late
James and Matilda Hinrichs Dunsworth.
On Oct. 16, 1946 she married Paul Hindelang in Carrollton and he
survives.
Also surviving are 2 daughters: Sandra Hindelang of Key Largo, Fla. and
Nancy Portwood of Carrollton, 2 sons: Paul Edward Hindelang Jr. of Santa
Barbara, Calif. and James Daniel Hindelang of San Jose, Costa Rica. There
are 6 grandchildren also surviving.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Evelyn Roach.
Mrs. Hindelang had worked for many years at the University of Ill.
Co-operative Extension Office in Carrollton until retirement around 1990.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of
America, and the Boyd Hospital/Reisch Nursing Home Auxiliary. She was a
graduate of St. John’s High School.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in Carrollton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10
A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton with burial to follow in the
St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice of
Green e Co. or Reisch Memorial Nursing Home.

Thurman F. Hoots
Thurman F. Hoots, 62, of Jacksonville died Saturday evening, December 16, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born October 20, 1938 in Jacksonville the son of Clifford and Ruby Osborne Hoots.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Louise Hoots of Jacksonville; one son, Brian (wife, Gabrielle) Shiffer of Yorktown; one daughter, Terri Shiffer; one grandchild, two brothers, Roger (wife, Linda) Hoots and Garry (wife, Mary) Hoots, both of Jacksonville; and three sisters, Kay (husband, Donald) Garman of Jacksonville, Judy (husband, Bob) Hawkins of Murrayville and Patricia Baptist of Jacksonville.
Mr. Hoots was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Donald Hoots and David Hoots.
Upon high school graduation, Mr. Hoots enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked as a jet mechanic for four years. He later worked as car salesman in Aurora, Danville and Jacksonville. He loved fishing and enjoyed his family, friends and life to the fullest.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Veteran’s Administration.
