Genevieve Emma Hendricks
Genevieve Emma Hendricks, 92, of 1202 Fifth Ave., Sterling, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 26, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joseph Cassidy, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the church. Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial for Christ Lutheran School is established.
Mrs. Hendricks was born the daughter of George E. H. and Johanna K. (Janssen) Clark in Atlantic, Iowa, on July 22, 1912. She moved with her family to a farm near Coloma, IL in 1919, a three-day trip over muddy roads which she remembered vividly all her life. Her family then moved to Sterling in 1920 where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a 1930 graduate of Sterling Township High School where she enjoyed the dramatic club as well as English class and cooking class. After graduation in 1930, she continued with her literary interests by forming a book club with her high school friends that met weekly for 65 years until 1995. The book club even corresponded with some of their favorite authors over the decades.
She married
Wilfred E. Hendricks on June 6, 1936, in the former Second Avenue Lutheran Church. She worked outside the home at the former Peerless Finance Company of Sterling until the birth of their first child, Ann. Her son, Michael, was added to their family in 1950.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and took an active part in the work of the church including the Home Bible Study Group, Ladies Aid and Dorcas Sewing Circle. She and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively in their retirement years visiting family and friends in Florida, California, and everywhere in between.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Betty Barnhart of Seattle, WA; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Daniels of Waukesha, WI; one daughter-in-law Mrs. Sally Hendricks of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Mr. Peter (Sue) Daniels; Mr. Mark (Pam) Daniels, Mrs. Brad (Shelley) Swanlund and Candy Hummel; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Paul, Caroline, Dominic, and Elena Genevieve.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Michael, two brothers and one sister
LEO C. POTTS
Leo C. Potts, 85, died Saturday March 19, 2005 at Sterling Pavilion. Mr. Potts was a carpenter and also farmed for Landis Brothers for several years.
Leo C. Potts was born March 15, 1920 in Felton, Minnesota, the son of Jacob and Josephine Ambrose Potts. He married
Mildred Eden in Sterling on March 26, 1960.
Mr. Potts served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Leo is survived by his wife, Mildred of Sterling; and one sister, Genevieve (Fred) McCard of Corning, IA; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Behmlander officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home.

DORIS A. HOLDREN
Doris A. Holdren, 69, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at her home.
Doris was born November 14, 1935 in Freeport, the daughter of Myron and Neva Rackow. She married
Charles E. Holdren on November 19, 1960 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1995. Mrs. Holdren was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include two sons, William (Dorinda) Fullmer and Dennis Fullmer both of Rock Falls; two daughters, Peggy (Al) Davis of Sterling and Rose Campbell of Freeport; one brother, Milo (Kay) Rackow of Monroe, WI; one sister, Iola (Ken) Hudson of Lena; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. One sister, Beatrice Rackow, also preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday at Schilling Funeral Home.

DALE McBRIDE
Dale McBride, 59, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Sterling Pavilion.
Dale McBride was born October 14, 1945 in Lawton, OK, the son of Donald L. and Hazel I. Sack McBride.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel McBride of Sterling.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Thomson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2 PM. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery in Port Byron.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald L. McBride in 1990
JOHN L. ALBERS
John L. Albers, 87, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at CGH Medical Center.
John L. Albers was born June 2, 1917 in Sterling, the son of Klaus and Kate Rademaker Albers. He was employed by Frantz Manufacturing retiring in 1984. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by one sister, Florence Rigler of Sterling; two nephews, Gene (Jeri) Froeliger and Ken (Jan) Rigler both of Sterling; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be 12 Noon Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home
BERNICE HOOVER RHODE
Bernice Hoover Rhode, 86, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Morrison Community Hospital. She was employed at National Mfg. Co. until she retired in 1983.
Mrs. Rhode was born July 9, 1918 in Sterling, the daughter of Benjamin and Myrtle (Cramer) Hoover. She married
Elwyn "Bud" Rhode August 20, 1945 in Petersburg, VA. . She was a member of Coleta United Methodist Church, the Golden Gang, and the National Retirement Ladies. She enjoyed being with family and friends, spending winters in Texas, and shopping in Mexico. She also enjoyed flower gardening, writing letters, baking cookies, and camping.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Nancy (Paul) Wetzell of Rock Falls, Sally Unterzuber of Coleta, six grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Unterzuber, Keri (Chris) Unterzuber Tronche, Matt (Karrie) Wetzell, Scott Wetzell and special friend Miranda Smith, Sara Wetzell and special friend Doug Kull. Five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Unterzuber, Tom and Nickolas Tronche, Alec and Aaron Wetzell.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Harold Hoover and a son-in-law, Roger Unterzuber.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Polly Klimson of Coleta United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the West Genesee Grove cemetery, Coleta. Visitation will be 5-7, Monday, March 21st at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.
A memorial has been established to Coleta United Methodist Church.
Elmer William Bartz
Sterling - Elmer William Bartz, 74, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at CGH Medical Center. He was a fireman for Sterling Fire Department for over 30 years and retired as a Captain in 1983. He was elected 1st Ward Alderman of Sterling in 1983 retiring in 2003.
Elmer was born June 25, 1930 in Sterling, the son of William and Marie (Heilener) Bartz. He married
Lois Van Gilder August 24, 1950. She preceded him in death on August 9, 1972. He then married
Connie S. Barnes Finnicum on November 3, 1973 in Sterling. She preceded him on September 13, 1999.
Survivors are five daughters, Kathy (Gary) Collinson of Sterling, Sheryl Coy of Sterling, Connie Lou (Gene) Politsch of Rockford, Debra Edwards, Kentucky, Tanya (William) Reed of Sterling; a son, William (Kay) Bartz of Sterling; a step-daughter, Dawn Zink of Sterling; a step-son, Matthew (Kim) Finnicum of Sterling; a sister, Bernice (James) Warren of Las Vegas, NV, ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friend, Helen Phillips.
Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 18, 2005 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan with Reverend Kathleen Burkheimer, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Milledgeville, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday, March 17th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Lorna M. Kreider
Sterling - Lorna M. Kreider, 81, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Coventry Village. She was employed as a teller for the former First National Bank for many years.
Lorna was born May 2, 1923 in Morrison, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Oltmanns) Landheer. She married
Harold L. Kreider May 12, 1943 in Sterling. He preceded her in death August 8, 2004.
Survivors are two daughters, Pat (Dave) Bracken of Sun City, AZ, Lynn (Jim) Sutton of Freeport; one son, Curt (Carolyn) Kreider of Sterling; two sisters, Avis (Doug) Chamberlain of Lyndon, JoAnn (Paul) Vock of Morrison; two brothers, Edward Landheer of Sterling, Paul (Loraine) Landheer of Dixon; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 18, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Oehlert, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, March 17th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Jessie E. Rolofson
Sterling - Jessie E. Rolofson, 91, formerly of Rock Falls, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at CGH Medical Center.
Mrs. Rolofson was born October 11, 1913 in Wapella, the daughter of William Allen and Mary Ann (Bloomer) McCallister. She married
Burl Emerson Rolofson July 3, 1933 in Princeton, IL. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors are two daughters, Evelyn (James) Jones of Rock Falls, Kathy Lynn (Hubbard) Hancock of Prospect Heights; one son, Gordon (Sharon) Rolofson of Coleta; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Mike, a daughter, Carol, eight brothers, and one grandson, Jimmy Jones.
Services will be held at 10:30, Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend April McClure Steward pastor of the First Christian Church of Rock Falls officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Twp. cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation will be 5-7, Wednesday, March 16th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Nevada M. Poci
Burlington, WI - Nevada M. Poci, 450 Tower Street, formerly of Rock Falls, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Center, Burlington. She was employed at Lawrence Brothers during WW II, was a co-owner of Nick's Tap for many years, and was a baker for Behren's Flower Shed.
Nevada was born July 18, 1922 in Rock Falls, the daughter of Nicodemo and Annunziata (Nardi) Nardini . She married
Geno Poci on January 23, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1976. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. She loved knitting and crocheting.
Survivors are a daughter, Cindy (Jerry) Robertson of Burlington, WI; a son, Gary (Theresa) Poci of Sterling, two sisters, Cecilia (Kenny) Wilson of Rock Falls, Ada Gugliuzza of Rockford, IL, two brothers, Ado Nardini, Leo (Margaret) Nardini both of Rock Falls; many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Edilio in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak of St. Andrew Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 4-7, Monday, March 14 with the Rosary at 6:30 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.

Wayne N. Karrow
Sterling - Wayne N. Karrow, 82, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Sterling Pavilion. He was a farmer in the area.
Wayne was born May 8, 1922 in Milledgeville, the son of John and Jessie (Miller) Karrow. He married
Linnea C. Mortenson on December 28, 1941 in Sterling. He served in the US Army during WW II.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Dennis (Marilyn) Karrow of Chicago, Tommy (Jan) Karrow of Rock Falls, one daughter, Susan (Charles) Hubler of Cedartown, GA, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Forest Karrow.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 14, 2005 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Bice officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 2-5, Sunday, March 13th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established to the Faith Baptist Church.
LOUISE JARMON BOGOTT
STERLING - Jarmon Bogott, of Sterling died Friday, March 4, 2005 at her residence.
Jarmon was born November 5, 1934 in Lewes, Delaware, the daughter of William S. and Scotty Ingram. She married
Robert C. Bogott March 10, 1956 in Wilmington, DE. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2000. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and friend.
Survivors include four daughters, Sally J. (Scott) Noyes of New Vernon, NJ, Kathryn S. (Spence) Ohlinger of Wilmington, DE, Leslie J. (Bruce) Troye of Sterling, and Jaye J. (Michael) Deans of Suwanee, GA; one son, R.W. Clay (Paula) Bogott of Huntington Beach, CA; her twin sister, Janey (Wayne) Fralin of Roanoke, VA; her brother, William S. (Doris) Ingram Jr. of Lewes, DE and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Reformed Mennonite Meeting House. Burial will be at the Mennonite cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
