HELENE ELIZABETH "BETTY" WHITEBREAD
OMAHA, NE - Helene Elizabeth "Betty" Whitebread, 89, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, November 3, 2005 in Omaha. She was employed as a Secretary for Lawrence Brothers until she retired in 1982.
Mrs. Whitebread was born July 5, 1916 in Sterling, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Mayer) Rice. She married
Edward B. Whitebread October 11, 1941 in Sterling. He preceded her in death October 24, 1972.
Survivors are a daughter, Carolyn (Lyle) Plautz of Omaha, NE; a son, Ronald Whitebread of Chandler, AZ; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Caskey and Bernice Jones.
A Memorial Mass will celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 7, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Reverend Paul Lipinski officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 9-10 AM at the Church. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home.

Donna R. Francis
Brampton, Ontario, Canada - Donna R. Francis, 46, formerly of Sterling, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 in Brampton, Ontario.
Mrs. Francis was born August 17, 1959 in Sterling, the daughter of Leslie and Darlene (Dahlberg) Ramage. She married
Keith A. Francis July 12, 2003 in Brampton, Ontario.
Survivors are her husband, Keith A. Francis; a daughter, Emily Johnson of Tampico, two sons, Matthew Johnson of Dixon, Toby Johnson of Prophetstown; two step-sons, Michael and Peter Francis; one grandchild; four sisters, Brenda Tolley, Janet Gallegos, both of Rock Falls, Lori (Wayne) Green of Sterling, Midge Ramage of Tampico; three brothers, Robert (Melody) Tolley of Rock Falls, James Ramage of Ohio, Dennis (Carolyn) Levan of Dixon; her mother and step-father; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Leslie.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8, Friday, November 4th at the Schilling Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the Yorktown Church of Christ in Yorktown, IL and the Church Food Bank at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Brampton, Ontario.
KENNETH A. STRINGER
STERLING - Mr. Kenneth Stringer, 81, died Friday evening, October 28, 2005 at Morrison Community Hospital. Mr. Stringer was employed at Northwestern Steel & Wire from 1959 until his retirement in 1985.
Kenneth Stringer was born March 24, 1924 in Assumption, IL the son of Aubrey and Hazel Mullen Stringer. He married
LaVonne “Bonnie” Crom on July 21, 1945 in Dixon. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1996.
He is survived by one son, Robert (Judy) Stringer of Sterling; four sisters Toby (Larry) Irwin of Rock Falls, Lois Higgins of Columbia, TN, Marjorie Stringer of WS, and Denise (Stan) Oncken of Prophetstown; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One son, Curt in 1999, also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 11AM – 1 PM Tuesday at Schilling Funeral Home
Private family services will be held Tuesday with burial at Riverside cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
JUDITH K. THIELBAR
Judith K. Thielbar, 64, of Sterling, was united with the Lord, Saturday, October 29, 2005 at her home after a short illness.
Mrs. Thielbar was born April 30, 1941 in Sterling, the daughter of Richard and Dora (Dickey) Goff. She married
Wayne L. Thielbar on January 10, 1961. She recently retired from Wal-Mart Supercenter and worked for General Electric for fifteen years. She loved her family dearly.
Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, Wayne Thielbar; two children, Lisa (Barton) Hobbs of Brownsville, TX and Laurie (James) Alumbaugh of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Jessica Alumbaugh, Daniel Hobbs, David Alumbaugh, Gregory Hobbs, Sally Alumbaugh, Jennifer Hobbs, Ashley Hobbs, Kristen Alumbaugh; one great-grandson, Anthony; her mother, Dora Goff of Rock Falls; three sisters, Jerie (Kenny) Tadlock of Rock Falls, Jeanne (Ron) Jamason of Rochelle, Jody (Bob) Knapp of Sterling; two brothers Lonny Goff of Brownsville, TX and Lane (Betty) Goff of Harmon; fifteen nieces and nephews; and two great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Jr. and her father, Richard Goff.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Harvest Time Bible Church, with Dalmus Meeks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Monday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
Ronald L. Anspach
Sterling - Ronald L. Anspach, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Coventry Village. He was employed at Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. until retiring after forty-two years on August 1, 1975.
Mr. Anspach was born September 12, 1911 in Morrison, the son of Harvey and Grace (Parnham) Anspach . He married
Virginia Amsbaugh on July 16, 1932. She preceded him in death on April 1960.
Survivors are three daughters, Luzetta (Tom) Maxwell of Sterling, Mary Ellen Hampton of Eagan, MN, Ronetta (Donald) Smith of Rock Falls; three step-daughters; one son, Kenneth (Margaret) Anspach of Byron; three sisters, Ida Engelkens of Freeport, Irene Miller of Rock Falls, Janice Larson of Colona; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Anspach, one grandson, and four sisters.
Private family services will be held with Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. There will be no visitation.
Dr. Woo-Young Kim
Dr. Woo-Young Kim, 60, of Sterling passed away Wednesday September 28, 2005, in Seoul, Korea. He traveled to Korea with his wife to visit family and celebrate his mother’s birthday, and was with his wife and brother when he passed.
Dr. Woo-Young Kim was born on January 31, 1945 in Chuncheon, South Korea. In the midst of the Korean War, his father, Dr. Young-Il Kim, and mother, Tae-Hong (Min) Kim, narrowly escaped execution by the North Korean forces and fled their home with their small children to Jinju, South Korea, where they remained after the war ended.
After graduating from Jinju High School with high honors, Woo-Young attended Seoul National University where he received his undergraduate and medical degrees. He served his required three years in the South Korean military as an army doctor before immigrating to the United States with his first wife, Linda, and the first two of their four children.
Dr. Kim worked at Christ (Community) Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, before settling in the Sauk Valley area in 1979. Locally, Dr. Kim worked as a physician at Partners in Health, ChiroMed, CGH, and a community nursing home.
A man of great intellect, Dr. Kim enjoyed reading historical and political books, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and assembling and collecting model ships. Dr. Kim was also a very talented musician, often singing and playing the mandolin at home and in community cantatas.
Dr. Woo-Young Kim was survived by his wife, Rita O’Bryan of Sterling, IL; his four children, Jason Kim of Chicago, IL, Anna Kim of Dubuque, IA, Elisabeth (Michael) Pfeiffer of Normal, IL, and Grace Kim of Montclair, NJ; his mother, Tae-Hong Kim; and his siblings, Tae-Young Kim, Dae-Young Kim, and Mi-Ryung Lee.
Dr. Woo-Young Kim was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Young-Il Kim, and his brother, Hwa-Young Kim.
A funeral service was held in Seoul, Korea on October 2, 2005. A local visitation will be held on October 30, 2005 from 12:00–2:00pm at The Schilling Funeral Home, located at 702 First Avenue in Sterling, IL. A brief service will follow at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, his family is asking that contributions be made for a scholarship in Dr. Woo-Young Kim’s name at Sauk Valley Community College.
ROBERT DEAN SELOOVER
STERLING - Robert Dean Seloover, 87, of Sterling, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at his home. He was employed as a Labor Foreman for Ringland-Johnson Construction Company.
Mr. Seloover was born March 22, 1918 in Sterling, the son of Wilbur Dean and Emilie (Stern) Seloover. He was in the 1st Division of the US Army during WW II serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres of operations, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He married
Olive Maxey on November 8, 1941. He was a member of the Sterling American Legion.
Survivors are two daughters, Sharon (Dave) Boyles of Morrison, Kathy (Jim) Kozar of Burlington, IL; two sons, R. Richard (Jan) Seloover of Elgin, Gale Seloover of Rock Falls; two sisters, Mary (Herman) Rosenow of Morrison, Pat Seloover of Muncie, IN; one brother, Keith (Mary) Seloover of Sterling; 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Shayna, Eric, Marisa, Ellen, Becky, Jamie, Stephanie, Jim, Benjamin, Justin, Taylor; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Edgar, Donald, and James.
Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Lewis officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5-8, Friday and
9-10, Saturday at the Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.

VIVIAN M. EAKLE
ROCK FALLS - Vivian M. Eakle, 92, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Coventry Village surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Eakle was born April 10, 1913 in Kasbeer, IL, the daughter of William and Grace B. (Woltz) Kitzmiller. She married
Urban C. Eakle October 15, 1932 in Sterling. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a past member of Moose Lodge #726 Women. She loved gardening and baking.
Survivors are a daughter, Sheryl Pendgraft (Bob) Clapp; a son, Norman (Sue) Eakle both of Sterling; a sister Violet Green of Rockford; five grandchildren, Rhonda (Michael) Miller of Sterling, Curtis Eakle of Chicago, Bradley (Nell) Eakle of Sterling, LeAnne (Steve) Olson of Rockton, Kristen (Michael) Bauer of Sterling; and four great-grandchildren Matthew Miller, Samantha Olson, Kaitlyn and Grace Bauer.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Oehlert of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at the Coloma Twp. cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation will be 6-8, Friday, October 7th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
