EARL F. WOLF
STERLING - Earl F. Wolf, 88, of Sterling died September 24, 2005 in Green Cove Springs, FL. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service.
Mr. Wolf was born in Sterling on February 14, 1917, the son of Fred and Rena Wolf. He married
Irene Bressler. He served in the army during WWII and earned a Bronze Star. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sterling and a member of the American Legion Post #902 Rock Falls.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years; a son, Earl (Carolyn) Wolf, Jr. of Wichita, KS; a daughter, Diane E. (Robert) Frost of Boca Raton, FL; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were four sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:30-11 at the Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established at the First United Methodist Church.
VELMA M. CAR-SKADEN
VICTORIA, TX - Velma M. Car-Skaden, 91, formerly of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 in Victoria. She was a bookkeeper for Car-Skaden Brake Service until retiring.
Mrs. Car-Skaden was born March 28, 1914 in Sterling, the daughter of Walter R. and Effie Mae (Null) Landis. She married
Clarence B. Car-Skaden on June 13, 1936 in Sterling. He preceded her in death June 16, 1995. She taught Sunday School at the Rock Falls United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Church Women. She was an active member of the Sinissippi Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed traveling extensively with their Airstream travel trailer and belonged to the Wally-Byam Caravan Club International and the National Campers and Hikers Association.
Survivors are two daughters, Mary Jane (O.D.) Atwell of Victoria, TX, Nancy (Kenneth) Dodillet of Dixon; a sister, Dorothy Landis Warren of Tampico; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Thomson of Rock Falls United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Thursday, October 9, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.

ROBERT L. SHAFFER
Robert L. Shaffer, 83 died Sunday October 2, 2005 at Willow Wood Nursing Home. He was employed by National Manufacturing as an engineer.
Robert was born May 1, 1922 in DeKalb, the son of Lloyd E. and Marjorie (Dole) Shaffer. He served in the United States Navy from 1941- 1945. He married
HelenLea Hanson on July 1, 1943 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2001. He was a member of Elks Club and a past president of the Jaycees.
Survivors include one daughter, Shawn L. (Bill) Strecker of Chicago; two sons, Dr. Peter B. (Jeanne) Shaffer of Conway, SC and Jonathan R. (Lee) Shaffer of Lafayette, CA; two sisters Betty Lou (Elwin) of Grand Rapids, MI and Jane Chaffee of Milledgeville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sally Sipperly and one grandchild, Michael King.
Graveside services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Riverside cemetery. There will be no visitation.
IRENE SCHICK
Irene Schick, 92, formerly of Dixon, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at Sterling Pavilion. She and her husband owned and operated Schick's Paint & Wallpaper in Rock Falls from 1948 to 1969.
Mrs.Schick was born November 4, 1912, the daughter of Benjamin and (Emma Krug) Gagestter. She married
John T. Schick on November 4, 1932 in Dixon. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was an active member of I.O.O.F, Moose Lodge #726 Women, Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed cooking and singing.
Survivors include two sons, John J. Schick and Steven Schick both of Sterling; a daughter, Eleanor E. Komay of Sterling; two grandchildren, Steven Allen Schick, Jr., Brandy Schick; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, at Riverside cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.

JUANITA C. MCCOY
SENECA, IL - Juanita C. McCoy, 51, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria after a sudden illness. She retired from Management at the Exelon Nuclear Station. Juanita was a graduate of Sterling High School, Sauk Valley Community College and Blackhawk Community College. She enjoyed sports, and coached Little League. She also was a Team Leader for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. She served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Ottawa. Juanita was also a part time D.J. Juanita was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need and continued to do so by giving the gift of life to others.
Juanita C. McCoy was born November 24, 1953 in Eddie, TX, the daughter of Moises and Emilia Garcia Cantu, Sr. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel McCoy of Moline and Ashton McCoy of Seneca; her father, Moises Cantu, Sr. of Sterling; three brothers, Moises Cantu, Jr., Ignacio (Adela) Cantu, and Crispin (Lissa) Cantu, all of Sterling; seven sisters, Amparo Hernandez of Mexico, Dora Brooks, Anita (Jesse) Perez, Apolinar (Bonifacio) Marquez all of Sterling, Joan (Manuel) Lemus of Mendota, Emilia (Carlos) Acevez of Hampton, Estella (Javier) Ramirez of Belvidere; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; two sisters in infancy; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 22, 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, 2005 from 5-8 PM, at the Schilling Funeral Home with a Rosary service beginning at 7 PM.

FREDA M. KOSTER
STERLING - Freda M. Koster, 94, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at CGH Medical Center.
Mrs. Koster was born September 13, 1911 in Georgetown, OH, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Adeline (Wardlow) Martin. She graduated from nursing school and served as Captain in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II in the European Theater. She married
Walter F. Koster on October 27, 1945 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1995. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sterling.
Survivors are one daughter, Marna Koster of Denver, CO; one son, Brian (Barbara) Koster of St. Paul, MN; and two grandchildren, Kyle Koster and Sarah Koster.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deva Koster and a son, Bruce Koster.
Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Sarah Schaffner officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Wednesday, at the Funeral Home.

DAVID E. PERRY
STERLING - David E. Perry, 32, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at his residence.
He was a salesman for Sunbeam Bread.
David was born April 4, 1973 in Sterling, the son of Creighton and Betty (Jones) Perry. He served in the United States Marines from 1992-1996. He married
Kathleen M. Miller on June 19, 1998 in Sterling. She survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Alexandria Nicole Perry, at home; his parents Creighton and Betty Perry of Sterling; maternal grandparents, Lois and Tom Regalado of Sterling; and one sister, Mercy Brown of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday September 19, 2005 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with the Reverend April Stewart of Rock Falls Christian Church, Rock Falls, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the funeral home.

MARIBETH ZIMMERMAN
ROCK FALLS - Maribeth Zimmerman, 56, went home to be with her Savior, surrounded by her family, as they sang her favorite hymns, Thursday, September 8, 2005 at her home. She was an Elementary Teacher for Christian Schools, in California, and later tutored children with special needs.
Maribeth was born March 18, 1949 in New York, NY, the daughter of John and Mary Eva (Smith) Alexander. She married
David Lee Zimmerman on August 14, 1976 in San Leandro, CA. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Rock Falls.
She was the devoted wife of David Lee Zimmerman; caring mother of Sarah (Andy) Pearson of Rock Falls and Hannah Zimmerman of Rock Falls; loving sister of Janet Alexander of Aptos, CA, John (Cheryl) Alexander of Vancouver, BC, Canada, Geoffrey (Judy) Alexander of Soquel, CA, Michael (Cindy) Alexander of Palo Alto, CA, and Richard (Pam) Alexander of S. Lake Tahoe, CA; and several nieces and nephews; she will also be missed by Sugar her cat.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Carlson of Berean Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 11AM - 12 PM, Saturday, prior to services at the church.
GENE L. YOUNG
STERLING - Gene L. Young, 53, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN after a short illness. He was employed as a steel worker for NWSW and Sterling Steel.
Mr. Young was born January 22, 1952 in Sterling, IL, the son of Elmer and Alice LaVonne (Hurley) Young. He married
Barbara L. Parker on August 7, 1982 in Rock Falls. He was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed reading, playing cards, Trivial Pursuit, spending time with his children and grandchildren and, most of all, helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Christie (Gary) Judd, Deanna (Scott Yingling) Barkley both of Milledgeville; one son, Andrew Young at home; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Roger) King of Rockford; six grandchildren, Christian Barkley, Thane Yingling, Carol Yingling, Ainsley Yingling, all of Milledgeville, Kayla Mathews, Kursten Smith of Rockford; two step-grandchildren, Josh Judd, Derek Koser, both of Fulton; his parents, Elmer and LaVonne Young of Sterling; two brothers, Elmer (Colleen) Young of Portage, MI, John "Jack" Young of Sterling; his mother-in-law, Donna Willhite of Rock Falls; six sisters-in-law, Sue Gray of Dixon, Sandi (Danny) Ivey of Sterling, Linda (Spike) Nelson of Lincoln, NE, Connie Parker of Cloquet, MN, Beulah Young of Carterville, IL, Dianna Adams Conkling of Dixon; special friends, Harry and Michelle Berogan of Sterling; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rob Smith, two brothers, Richard Young, Roger Young and a brother-in-law, Mike Gray.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 12, 2005 at Schilling Funeral Home with Dalmus Meeks, Pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Sunday, September 11th at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
