EDNA M. JOHNSON
GERMANTOWN, WI- Edna M. Johnson, 90, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday May 15, 2003 at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, WI.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 28, 1912 in Emerson, the daughter of Friederick and Anna (Meyer) Ricklefs. She was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hopkins Twp. and was confirmed in 1927 by the Reverend W. J. Voeltz of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling. She married
Omar Johnson on July 15, 1933 in the home of her parents in Hopkins Township. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1999. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling. Survivors include two daughters Joanne L. (Mark) Hershman of Goldens Bridge, NY and Barbara C. (William) Olson of Germantown, WI; four sons Laverne O. (Ann) Johnson of Pittsford, NY, Merle E. (Glenda) Johnson of Nashua, IA, Lyle D. (Beverly) Johnson of Bloomsburg, PA; Jerry K. (Sally) Johnson of Fairfield Glade, TN; two sisters Louise McDearmon of Sterling and Velma Kindle of Chester, SC; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar; one sister Evelyn Johnson and one brother Edgar Ricklefs.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday May 20, 2003 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Reverend Philip Gronbach, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.
A memorial has been established to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
CAYDEN MICHAEL WRIGHT
STERLING - Cayden Michael Wright, four-months old, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at Rockford Memorial Hospital, as a result of an automobile accident, along with his father, Gerald (Jerry) Franklin Wright.
Cayden Michael Wright was born Jan 1, 2003 in Rockford, the son of Jerry Wright and LeAnne Wheeler.
Cayden Wright is survived by his mother LeAnne Wheeler of Sterling, maternal grandfather, Michael Wheeler of Sterling; maternal grandmother, Diane Wheeler of Rock Falls; maternal great-grandparents, Arlo (Patricia) Millican and Robert (Diane) Walsh all of Sterling; paternal grandfather, Gerald (Mary) Wisner of Peoria; paternal grandmother, Tami Wright of Harmon; paternal great-grandmother, Barbara Wright of Peoria; paternal great-grandfather, Buddy Wright of Bakersfield, CA; and paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Wisner of Peoria; aunts & uncles.
Private Graveside services will be Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the Schilling Funeral Home.

GERALD FRANKLIN WRIGHT
STERLING - Gerald (Jerry) Franklin Wright, 20, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, as the result of an automobile accident, along with his four-month old son, Cayden Michael Wright.
Gerald (Jerry) F. Wright was born January 12, 1983 in Peoria, the son of Gerald Wisner and Tami Wright.
Jerry is survived by his finance, LeAnne Wheeler of Sterling; his father, Gerald (Mary) Wisner of Peoria; his mother Tami Wright (John Reed) of Harmon; maternal grandparents, Buddy and Rosemarie Wright of Harmon; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Wisner of Peoria; one half-brother, Tyler Scott of Lyndon; one half-sister, Lindsey Wisner of Peoria; aunts and uncles.
Private Graveside services will be Thursday at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the Schilling Funeral Home.Preceding him in death is his four-month old son, Cayden Michael Wright.

LOUISE V. BOYLE
STERLING - Mrs. Louise V. Boyle, 92, died Friday, May 23, 2003 at CGH Medical Center. She was born March 22, 1911 in Brookport, IL, the daughter of Henry Clay and Truda E. Modglien Johnson. She married
James Boyle on November 2, 1937 in Jackson, MO. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1987.
Mrs. Boyle enjoyed knitting and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Cladene (David) Becker of Sterling; one brother, Stanley (Debbie) Johnson of Joppa, IL; one sister, Esther Johnson of Sterling; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was one sister, Dorothy Rankin; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be 1 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Moline Memorial Gardens, Moline, IL with Reverend Jack Prowant officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements completed by the Schilling Funeral Home.

LYDIA M. LAMBERT
STERLING - Mrs. Lydia M. Lambert, 90, of 912 6th Avenue, died Friday May 23, 2003 at CGH Medical Center. Mrs. Lambert was born February 8, 1913 in Sterling, the daughter of Emil and Lizzie Zook Haak. She married
Hubert D. Lambert on February 8, 1946 in Dixon. He preceded her in the death on July 31, 1976.
Mrs. Lambert was a member of the East Jordan United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Bruce (Patricia) Lambert of Sterling; one daughter, Judi Lambert of Sterling; one brother, Melvin (Eline) Haak of Sterling; four sisters, Kathryn Person of Polo, Evelyn Saunders of Sterling, Helen Ogata of Urbana, and Arlene Copenhaver of Deerfield; two grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Edward & Richard; two sisters, Elizabeth Meisel and Marian Haak.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Russell Coats pastor of East Jordan United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to East Jordan United Methodist Church.
JEANNETTE GERICKE
STERLING - Jeannette Gericke, 93, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Coventry Village. Mrs. Gericke was born June 25, 1910 in Highland, IL the daughter of Wesley and Lenore (Parker) Stone. She married
Harold Gericke on June 21, 1933 in Dupo, IL. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1979. She was a member of the Geneseo Presbyterian Church, and a 50-year member of Eastern Star. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards.
Surviving is one son, Thomas (Donna) Gericke; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at Valley View Gardens of Memory in Edwardsville.
Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church of Sterling.
MARGARET L. MURRAY
STERLING - Margaret Lucille Murray, 94, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Coventry Village Nursing Home. She taught school for 20 years beginning with elementary school in Thomson and finishing her teaching career at Fulton Junior High School. Mrs. Murray was born November 12, 1908 in Chadwick, the daughter of John and Edna (Melendy) Hicks. She graduated from Chadwick High School, attended Cornell College, and earned a B.A. Degree in education from the University of Illinois in 1930. She married
Eugene Paul Murray on January 27, 1933 in Dixon and the couple celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. For 41 years she and her husband farmed her family's homestead farm in the Thomson area. She was a founder of the Thomson Woman's Club, an active member of DAR, Carroll County Home Bureau, Carroll County Republican Women and the Chat-A-Whiles Club. She was the pianist and organist at the Thomson Methodist Church for more than 30 years. In 1973, the Murrays retired from farming and moved to Sterling where Margaret became a member of PEO and the Whiteside County Association for the Blind. She continued to be an active member of DAR and the Whiteside County Republican Women and was an active golfer into her nineties. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and during the last few years, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dr. John (Judy) Murray of Champaign, Dave (Helen) Murray of Sterling; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a brother, George Hicks.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathon Singleton, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM in Lower York cemetery, Thomson.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Friday and 10-11 AM, Saturday at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Whiteside County Association for the Blind.
MABELLE G. FRANSEN
STERLING - Mrs. Mabelle G. Fransen, 85, died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Sterling Pavilion. Mrs. Fransen was born on May 26, 1918 in Hayworth, IL, the daughter of Ernest W. and Lena Rivers Price Richards. She married
Edwin E. Fransen on April 19, 1938 in Clinton, IA. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1992.
Mrs. Fransen was a member of Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling.
She had worked with the University of Illinois teaching Nutrition to low-income families.
She is survived by three sons, Kendall Fransen of Sterling, Wendall Fransen of El Paso, and Edwin "Bud" (Donna) Fransen, Jr. of Byron; five daughters, Shirley (Ken) Dewese of Finley, Ohio, June (Steve) MacKenzie of Bellingham, WA, Karen (Ken) Wennekamp of Hubbard, IA, Bonnie (Fred) Davis of Clayton, IN, and Eileen Fransen of Dallas, TX; twenty-three grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, nine brothers, and one son David Fransen in June 1973.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at the Science Ridge Mennonite Church in Sterling with Pastor Rick Koch of the Milledgeville Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Tuesday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to PADS.
WILLIAM B. HOWE
William B. Howe, 86, formerly of Rock Falls, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 at the home of his daughter in Payson, AZ. He had been employed as a machinist at R.B. & W. Plant, Calle Printing and for Bauder Machine Works until he retired in 1984.
Mr. Howe was born August 19, 1916 in Rock Falls, the son of LeRoy "Slim" and Gertrude (Frank) Howe. He served in the US Navy. He married
Doris K. Kennedy on March 27, 1943 in San Diego, CA. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2000. He was a member of the Rock Falls Congregational Church, a lifetime member of ATA and was inducted into the Illinois Hall of Fame in 1995. He was an avid fisherman and Cubs Fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Dan) Pruett of Payson, AZ; four brothers, Robert (Esther) Howe of West Columbia, SC, Theodore (Mary) Howe of Frankfort, TN, Calvin (Jackie) Howe of Rockford, MI, John (Shirley) Howe of Clinton, IA, five sisters, Marjory McGinn and Evelyn Murphy of Sterling, Joan (Ron) DeBruine of San Antonio, TX, Lynnette (Fred) Flowers of Chicago, Mary June (Jack) McKinley of Redford, MI; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also preceding him was a sister, Madeline, four brothers, Donald Howe, Thomas Howe, Russell Howe, and Faye Howe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday at the Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Fund.
