Florence Branch
G. Florence Andrew Branch, the mother of Nineveh area resident Douglas Branch, died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at her home in Bargersville. She was 76.
Mrs. Branch was born January 1, 1922, in Bedford, Kentucky to Ralph and Georgeann Rowlett Andrew.
She and Carroll Branch were married August 5, 1939. He survives in Johnson County.
Mrs. Branch graduated from Bedford High School in Kentucky.
She worked in sales for William H. Block/Lazarus for 12 years, retiring in 1978.
Mrs. Branch was a member of Prince of Peace United Church of Christ in Bargersville and Southside Mothers of Twins.
Other survivors include four daughters, Carol Ann Wiese and Sharon Martlage, both of Greenwood, Sandra Frazier of Trafalgar and Tama Riley of Indianapolis; another son, Michael Branch of Indianapolis; a brother, Harold Andrew of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A service was conducted Thursday, December 24, at Singleton and Herr Mortuary near Greenwood. Burial was in Johnson County's Mount Pleasant Ceme-tery.

Dempsey Bush
Columbus resident Dempsey "Willie" Bush died Saturday, December 19, 1998, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was 64.
Mr. Bush formerly lived in Brown County.
He was born April 8, 1934, in Columbus to Alex and Molly Baker Bush. Mr. Bush had attended local schools.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War.
Mr. Bush had worked as a parts monitor for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 30 years, before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin and the American Legion.
Survivors include seven brothers, Harry Burbrink and Robert Bush, both of Franklin, Charles Bush of Rawlins, Wyoming, Chester Bush of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, Fred Bush of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Perry Bush of Tampa, Florida, and Tom Bush of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Ruth Webb of Columbus, Bertha Ferguson of Seymour and Della Criswell of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
The Reverend Kent Kirchmeyer led a service Tuesday, December 22, at First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Johnson County.
Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Daisy Folkening
Upper Schooner Road resident Daisy May Folkening died Sunday morning, December 27, 1998, at Bloomington Hospital. She was 85.
Mrs. Folkening was born June 8, 1913, in Pennsylvania to Dallas Plasterer and Berl Hammond.
She was married to Charles Folkening. He survives in Brown County.
Mrs. Folk-ening had worked as a military personnel supervisor technician in the Records Pro-cessing Branch at Fort Benjamin Harrison, retiring in 1975.
She had garnered several awards and commendations for her job performance.
Mr. and Mrs. Folkening moved to Nashville after her retirement.
Other survivors include a son, Clarence Sterrett of Hanover; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The Reverend John Baughman will conduct a service today, December 30, at 1 p.m. in the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home on State Road 135 North. Burial will be in Johnson County's Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Gladys Foster
Gladys Mae Foster died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at University Heights Convalescent Center. A resident of Indianapolis, she was 84.
Mrs. Foster had attended church in Brown County.
She was born December 27, 1913, in Bedford to Oval and Luna Jackson Higgins.
She and Ralph G. Foster were married in April 1931. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Foster graduated from Bedford High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Hugh J. Baker in Indianapolis for 20 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses on Greasy Creek Road.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Ted Foster of Indianapolis and Jack Foster of Lady Lake, Florida; a brother, Foster Higgins of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by three brothers; and a sister.
Ben McClintock conducted a service Thursday, December 24, at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Johnson County's Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Effle Henderson
Brown County native Effle L. Henderson died Thursday morning, December 24, 1998, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center. A resident of Columbus, she was 92.
Mrs. Henderson was born April 6, 1906, in Brown County to Joseph and Sarah Crouch.
She and Freeman Henderson were married in January 1925. He died July 7, 1987.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bartholomew County.
Survivors include a son, Norman Lee Henderson of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Naomi Ruth Johnson of Fairfield, Ohio; three half-brothers, Donald Chandler and John Crouch, both of Columbus and Woodrow Robbins of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Lloyd Henderson, Paul F. Henderson and Donald W. Henderson.
The Reverend Robert Muncie led a service Monday, December 28, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus.
Burial was in that city's Garland Brook Cemetery.

Lloyd O. Krebbs
Brown County native Lloyd O. "Slim" Krebbs died Thursday, December 24, 1998, at his home in the Greene County community of Marco. He was 88.
Mr. Krebbs was born August 30, 1910, in Brown County to Vernon and Retta Allen Krebbs.
He was married to Alice M. Grubb. She survives in southern Indiana.
Mr. Krebbs had worked at Sarkes Tarzian Manufacturing before retiring. He was a member of the Pentecostal church.
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Krebbs was preceded in death by six brothers; and four sisters.
The Reverend Vernon Raines conducted a service Monday, December 28, at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. Burial was in Greene County Chapel Cemetery.
Malinda Richhart
Malinda Gertrude Richhart died Tuesday, December 22, 1998, at ExtendaCare of Franklin. A resident of Franklin, she was 80.
Mrs. Richhart was born September 29, 1918, to Benjamin Grant and Alley Fair "Fairy" Ward Pitcher. The Pitcher family once lived in Brown County's Hamblen Township.
She and Jessie Irvin Richhart were married September 10, 1939, in Jeffersonville. He died August 8, 1993.
Mrs. Richhart had attended Trafalgar schools. She had worked in food service at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin for 18 years, retiring in 1982. When she retired, Mrs. Richhart had been dining room supervisor in the facility's main building for 16 years.
She was a member of Brown County's Spearsville Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Richhart of Franklin and Robert Richhart of Martinsville; two daughters, June Garrison and Betty Arthur, both of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pastor Al Lorber led a service Thursday, December 24, at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was in Franklin's Greenlawn Cemetery.
Florence Spence
Former Brown County resident Florence Martindale Brown Spence died Friday, December 25, 1998, in Greenfield. A resident of that city, she was 92.
Mrs. Spence was born March 27, 1906, in Willow Branch to William W. Martindale and Pearl Collins Martindale.
She was first married to Gordon Brown. After his death she married James L. Spence. He also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Spence had worked as a legal secretary for Barnes and Thornburg in Indianapolis. She had also worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Lashmet.
Survivors include a niece, Marcia Hunt of Charlottesville; two nephews, John Wolfe of Indianapolis and Roger Wolfe of Arizona; a step-daughter, Linda Spence of East Lansing, Michigan; two step-sons, Robert Wilson of Indianapolis and Bill Wilson of Argentina; and a sister, Fern Wolfe of Indianapolis.
The Reverend David Edwards conducted a service Sunday, December 27, at Pasco Memorial Mortuary in Greenfield. Burial was in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.

Gordon Stokeley
Former Brown County resident Gordon M. Stokeley died Thursday morning, December 24, 1998, at Beverly Health Care Center in Bloomington. A resident of that city, he was 51.
Mr. Stokeley was born August 1, 1947, in Vincennes to Samuel E. and Imogene Fellows Stokeley. His father survives in Monroe City.
His wife of 24 years, Susan Shake Stokeley, survives in Bloomington.
Mr. Stokeley had worked as a computer draftsman for Ellis Tents and Events.
He was a member of Blooming-ton's First Church of the Nazarene.
Other survivors include a sister, Linda Harshman of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; two nephews, Samuel Harshman and David Harshman, both of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Reverend Richard Reed conducted a service Tuesday, December 29, at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vincennes.
Betty M. Stuart
Betty M. "Grandma Farrell" Stuart died Friday evening, December 25, 1998, at her home on Ida Lawn Drive in southwestern Brown County. She was 79.
Mrs. Stuart had formerly lived in Indianapolis.
She was born June 27, 1919, in Indianapolis to Lloyd G. Gibson and Ruby Vessels.
She was married to Evan S. Stuart. He died September 30, 1982.
Mrs. Stuart had worked as a secretary for many years, retiring in 1981.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Childs of Indianapolis and Kristi Farrell of Nashville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Reverend Neal Partain conducted a service Tuesday, December 29, at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home on State Road 135 North.
Burial was in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Loren F. Wood
Loren F. Wood, the step-father of Nashville resident Jeff Castetter, died Friday morning, December 25, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Seymour. A resident of that city, he was 59.
Mr. Wood was born October 18, 1939, in Shelby County to Milo and Elsie Pope Wood.
He first married Edna Olmstead November 29, 1958. She died January 11, 1991. Mr. Wood then married Betty Lou Marksberry July 1, 1991. She survives.
Mr. Wood had worked at Arvin Industries in Columbus, before retiring earlier this month.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Other survivors include four sons, Steve Wood of Columbus and Randy Wood, David Wood and Doug Wood, all of Hope; three other step-sons, Mike Castetter of North Vernon, Chris Castetter of Hope and Shannon Wood of Seymour; two brothers, Roscoe Wood of Columbus and Richard Wood of Hope; a sister, Florence Boyd of Columbus; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted Tuesday, December 29, at Norman Funeral Home in Hope.
Burial was in Shelby County's Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
