A service was conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 29, at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville.
Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Harold E. Floyd
Long-time Brown County resident Harold E. "Jack" Floyd died Monday, June 21, 1999, at the Brown County Community Care Center in Salt Creek Park. He was 74.
Mr. Floyd was born January 10, 1925, in Brown County to Thomas and Minnie Kent Floyd.
He was married to Oma Frances Shields. She died May 5, 1995.
The Reverend David Beecham led a service Tuesday evening, June 29, at Day Moturary in Bloomington.
Burial was in Pensacola, Florida.
Irene Kinnane
Former Brown County resident Irene Kinnane died Thursday morning, June 24, 1999, at her home in Columbus. She was 93.
Mrs. Kinnane was born December 11, 1905, in Kokomo to John and Dora O’Regan Roath.
During her retirement years, she was an active tutor at Fodrea Elementary School in Bartholomew County. She had been recognized for her outstanding volunteer efforts by the Bartholomew County Senior Center.
The Reverend Roger Walby conducted a service Monday morning, June 28, at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel in Columbus.
Burial was in that city’s Garland Brook Cemetery.
Jimmy Kirby
Jimmy Clay Kirby, the brother of Morgantown resident Linda VanWinkle, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at his home in Martinsville. He was 41.
Mr. Kirby was born May 31, 1958, in Macon County, Tennessee to Lovell and Pauline Bray Kirby.
He and Pamela K. McCall were married November 23, 1996, in Martinsville. She survives in Morgan County.
Pastor Chris Page conducted a service Monday afternoon, June 21, at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Jacklin M. Lanier
Jacklin Marie Lanier, the half-sister of Nashville’s Macey Kathline Danyeal Huesman, died shortly after birth Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton.
She was the daughter of Randy S. Lanier and Denise L. Patterson. They survive in Montezuma.
Monsignor Harold Knueven conducted a service Wednesday afternoon, June 23, in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Larry D. Lewis
Larry Dean Lewis died Friday, June 18,1999, at his home in Whiteland. He was 60.
Mr. Lewis was born February 2, 1939, in Whiteland to Jewell and Vivian Coovert Lewis.
He and Sandra Adams were married July 30, 1962. She survives.
A service was conducted Monday, June 21, at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Morgantown’s East Hill Cemetery.

Monte Meredith
Monte T. Meredith, the father of Nashville resident Wilma Rose Stypula, died Monday evening, June 21, 1999, at Universal Health Care Center in Franklin. A resident of that city, he was 95.
Mr. Meredith was born October 11, 1903, in Greensburg to Orville E. and Cora M. Carr Meredith.
He and Lennie Folks were married March 14, 1929. She died March 13, 1979.
The Reverend Daryl Crane led a service Thursday afternoon, June 24, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus.
Burial was in Bartholomew County’s Shiloh Separate Baptist Church Cemetery.

Virginia Morgan
Former Nashville resident Virginia L. Morgan died Friday morning, June 25, 1999, at the Oakview Heights Nursing Home in Mount Carmel, Illinois following a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Morgan was born March 10, 1910, in Tyrone, Penn-sylvania to Harry and Lavina Miller Miller.
She and Ted C. Morgan were married November 10, 1929. He died October 9, 1984.
Pastor Gary Underwood conducted a service Monday evening, June 28, at the First General Baptist Church in Mount Carmel, Illinois.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens near Greenwood.
Ruth I. Stayton
Ruth I. Stayton, the sister of rural Morgantown resident Raymond Richardson, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. A resident of Bargersville, she was 78.
Mrs. Stayton was born August 14, 1920, in Johnson County’s White River Township to John and Elsie Matz Richardson.
She and James Lyle Stayton were married January 8, 1965, in Bargersville. He died December 24, 1996.
The Reverend Stan Icenogle led a service Sunday, June 20, at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home’s Bargersville Chapel.
Burial was in that community’s Bluff Creek Cemetery.

Marcile Adams
Former Brown County resident Melissa Marcile Coles Adams died Thursday morning, July 1, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of that city, she was 85.
Mrs. Adams was born July 4, 1913, in Columbus to Charles and Myrtle Calvin Coles.
She and Paul Butler Adams were married November 5, 1931. He died February 15, 1980.
Her husband had owned and operated the Star Store in Nashville. He had also served as a Washington Township Trustee.
Mrs. Adams had worked as a secretary at the Columbus Boys’ Club for several years. She had also served as business manager at the Indiana University Daily Student newspaper and in the Monroe County Clerk’s office.
Pastor Darrell Stout conducted a service Saturday afternoon, July 3, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus.
Burial was in that city’s Garland Brook Cemetery.
Sandra Colyer
Sandra S. Colyer, the sister of Brown County resident Mary Jones, died Monday afternoon, June 28, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of that city, she was 58.
Mrs. Colyer was born October 6, 1940, in Columbus to Charles Sanders Sr. and Betty Knotts.
She was married to Denny Colyer. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Colyer was a homemaker.

Harold K. Hoots
Harold Keith Hoots, the brother of Spearsville resident James Hoots, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, in New Castle. He was 58.
Mr. Hoots was born October 18, 1940, in Albany, Kentucky to Herbert and Abbie Sells Hoots.
His widow, Carla Guthrie Hoots, survives.
Mr. Hoots had worked at the Chrysler Corporation in New Castle for 30 years.
A service was conducted Sunday, June 27, at Hinsley-Brown Funeral Chapel in New Castle.
Burial was in that city’s South Mound Cemetery.
Corine L. Keaton
Corine Louise Fox Keaton died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. A resident of that city, she was 81.
Her husband’s was a native of Brown County.
Mrs. Keaton was born October 29, 1918, in Enid, Oklahoma to Bert Fox and Ruty Dazy.
She was married to James D. Keaton. He preceded her in death.
She had been a homemaker.
A service was conducted Saturday, July 3, at Valley Mills Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Elva D. Lane
Brown County native Elva D. Lane died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Bloomington Hospital. A resident of that city, he was 77.
Mr. Lane was born September 16, 1921, in Brown County to Dennis and Mamie Henderson Lane.
He was married to Betty J. Culross. She survives in Monroe County.
He had worked as a letter carrier for the Bloomington Post Office before retiring in 1981.
Mr. Lane was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Pentecostal Faith Assembly and the Letter Carriers Union.
The Reverend Michael Douglas conducted a service Thursday afternoon, July 1, at Pentecostal Faith Assembly in Monroe County.
Burial was in Valhalla Memory Gardens at Bloomington.
Day Mortuary in Bloomington was in charge of arrangements.

Sherry Rawson
Sherry Faith Eisenberg Rawson died Tuesday morning, June 29, 1999, at her home in Indianapolis after an illness of a few months. She was 60.
Mrs. Rawson was born November 15, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to David A. Eisenberg and Margaret Rich Eisenberg.
She and Frank A. "Andy" Rawson were married August 29, 1960. He survives in Indianapolis. He hailed from Brown County.

Eldena Romine
Nashville resident Eldena M. McDermott Romine died Tuesday morning, June 29, 1999, at the Brown County Community Care Center in Salt Creek Park. She was 95.
Mrs. Romine was born January 19, 1904, in Martin County to John and Catherine Patterson Stafford.
She and Harold W. McDermott were married June 12, 1926. He died May 4, 1965. She and James Otto Romine were married in August 1973. He died April 12, 1984.
Mrs. Romine had worked as a sales clerk at Hook’s Drug Store, Goodman Jester Department Store and Yula’s Young World.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the church’s Loyal Workers Sunday school class.
David R. Burnett led a service Thursday afternoon, July 1, at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel in Columbus.
Burial was in that city’s Garland Brook Cemetery.

Dylan Sanders
18-month-old Dylan James Sanders, the great-grandson of northern Brown County residents Marlowe and Lois Sanders, died Saturday morning, June 26, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Investigators with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department are looking into the child’s death.
According to published reports, Dylan’s mother, Elizabeth Sanders, and her live-in boyfriend, Allen Roberts, told police that the child fell from his bed and was treated by them, but Dylan began vomiting and had a restless night. The next afternoon, the child collapsed while standing at his toybox.
An autopsy determined that the child died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen.
Dylan’s short life began December 19, 1997, in Johnson County to Ms. Sanders and James Stanifer.
Rex Deckard conducted a service Wednesday morning, June 30, at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
Burial was in Morgan County’s Brooklyn Cemetery.
Dorothy Snider
Dorothy Marie Bright Snider, the widow of former Brown County Auditor Harry Francis Snider, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina A resident of Mt. Holly, North Carolina , she was 83.
Mrs. Snider was born February 22, 1916, in Greenwood to Ralph W. and Mabel Waddell Bright.
She and Mr. Snider were married December 23, 1955, in Brown County by Justice of the Peace Harry Kelp. Mr. Snider, a Democrat, served as county auditor from 1966 to 1971. He died August 29, 1987.
Mrs. Snider was a homemaker.
The body was cremated. Services will be at a later date in Jackson Township’s Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Frankie Summers
Horseshoe Road resident Frankie June Summers died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was 66.
Mrs. Summers was born May 23, 1933, in Horse Cave, Kentucky to Albert William and Flora Elsie Spencer Lothery.
She and Hubert "Bob" Summers were married November 12, 1954, in New Albany. He survives in Brown County.
Mrs. Summers was a homemaker.
Pastor Naymon Watson led a service Saturday morning, July 3, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Borden.
