Otto F. Kelley Jr.
Nashville man dies while felling tree
Otto F. Kelley Jr., 73, Nashville was found dead Saturday, July 3, in an area along Brummetts Creek Road just inside Monroe County.
Authorities believe Mr. Kelley had been cutting a forked tree in a wooded area along the road, when the chainsaw’s blade became entangled with a part of the tree that was in the air.
Monroe County Coroner George Huntington said Mr. Kelley tried to free the chainsaw with another saw when the tree evidently broke loose and part of the tree which had been free rotated and hit him in the side.
The coroner said Mr. Kelley died of severe blunt-force trauma to the left flank.
Mr. Huntington estimated that the Brown County man had been killed the day before he was found.
For more information about Mr. Kelley’s life, his obituary appears on page 2. -Steve Arnold
