Adelaide Austin
Adelaide Austin, mother of Nashville resident Carl D. Austin, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001. A resident of Sparr, Florida, she was 91.
Mrs. Austin was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1909.
She married Condee Austin. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of United Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida, and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hollywood, Florida.

Mary E. Bock
Artist Drive resident Mary Elizabeth Bock died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at her home. She was 86.
Mrs. Bock was born January 18, 1915, in Kentucky, the daughter of Henry Hodge and Mary India Dixon Powell.
She married Ernest Bock in 1964. He survives.
She was a homemaker and member of Daughters of American Revolution.

Mary E. Roberts
Willow Street resident Mary E. Roberts died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Brown County Community Care Center in Nashville. She was 88.
Mrs. Roberts was born December 14, 1917, the daughter of Clifford and Vina Wright Steele.
She married Glenn Roberts. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and member of North Salem United Meth-odist Church.

Robert E. Rogers
Robert E. Rogers of Nashville died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Columbus Regional Medical Center. He was 62.
Mr. Rogers was born August 31, 1938, in Monroe County, the son of Arthur and Ruth M. (Herbin) Rogers. Following his mother’s death when he was 3, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Maudeline (May) Rogers. They preceded him in death.
He married Nancy Rogers of Nashville. She survives.
He was a retired technical specialist for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Nashville Masonic Lodge.

Robert R. Sheeks
Robert R. Sheeks, formerly from Morgantown, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. A resident of that community, he was 85.
Mr. Sheeks was born April 9, 1916, in Bedford, the son of Charles and Nancy Harrison (Taylor) Sheeks.
He married Helen F. Boston September 23, 1972, in Washington. She survives.
He was a 1933 graduate of Mitchell High School.
He was employed at Indiana Bearing Company in Indianapolis from 1938 to 1953. He then worked for Bearings Incorporated in Philadelphia as district manager from 1953 to 1957. He owned and operated Philadelphia Ball and Roller Bering Company from 1957 to 1979.

Lesta Thickstun
Orchard Hill Road resident Lesta Thickstun died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Brown County Community Care Center. She was 91.
Mrs. Thickstun was born August 5, 1909, in Jackson County, the daughter of Matthew and Dora (Engle) Fleetwood.
She married Millard Thick-stun, who preceded her in death February 1972.
She was own-er and operator of Thickstun Cafe for 30 years and work-ed at Charm Shop.

John Walker
Nashville resident John Marshall Walker died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at his residence. A former long-time resident of Indianapolis, he was 92.
Mr. Walker was born December 11, 1908, in Needham, the son of William Scott Walker and Mary Alma Craven.
He was married to Charlotte Elizabeth Huff January 17, 1946, in Greenfield. She survives.
He attended Marion County schools and was employed for 36 years by Nicholas Noyes Family of Indianapolis. He retired in 1978.
Mr. Walker was previously employed as a machine operator for Switzer-Cummings Company in Indianapolis.

Crawford F. Donnelly
Crawford F. Donnelly, a member of the Brown County Art Guild since 1974, died Sunday, June 17, in Indianapolis. A resident of that community, he was 87.
He was married to Cecelia (McAllen) Donnelly. She survives.
Mr. Donnelly was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a graduate of Herron School of Art and the New York Inst-itute of Photo-graphy. He studied drawing and painting with many noted artists, including fellow Indiana artist Elmer Taflinger.
At one time, Mr. Donnelly was a free-lance commercial artist.

Roy A. Galbraith
Roy A. Galbraith, a member of Nashville Masonic Lodge, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida. A resident of that community and formerly of the Cordry-Sweetwater Conservancy District, he was 85.
Mr. Galbraith owned and operated Roy A. Galbraith Associates for 57 years, retiring in 1985 as a manufacturing representative.
He is survived by a son, the Reverend David L. Galbraith of Hope.

Douglas Grubb
Douglas H. Grubb, the brother of Nashville resident Diana Jewell Fleetwood, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home in Bloomington. He was 47.
Mr. Grubb was born June 1, 1954, in Monroe County to Clifford and Viola June Meadows Grubb. His father survives in Bloomington.
He had worked as a self-employed carpenter.

Wanda Harrison
Wanda Marie Harrison, the mother of Brown County resident Reverend Fred M. Harrison, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home in Monroe City. She was 73.
Mrs. Harrison was born November 4, 1927, in Vincennes to Walter and Edna (Landsdown) Briner.
She was married to Benjamin Yates Harrison. He died March 18, 1993.
Mrs. Harrison was graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School in 1945.

Orian Hawes
Orian Calvert Hawes, the father of Brown County area resident Janis McClung, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home in Evansville. He was 82.
Mr. Hawes was born September 12, 1918, in Rockport, Kentucky, to Cecil Calvert and Antha Autry Hawes.
His wife of 59 years, June Hawes, survives in Vanderburgh County.
Mr. Hawes had worked as a diesel mechanic at Bunny Bread before retiring. After retirement, he worked at Royal Crown Cola.

Maria Herbert
Maria (Heuser) Herbert, whose family is from Brown County, died Friday, June 22, in Indianapolis.
Ms. Herbert was born June 9, 1925, in Happenheim, Germany.
She married Dallas Herbert. He preceded her in death.
She was a production worker at Western Electric for 25 years.

Woodrow Painter
Becks Grove Road resident Woodrow N. Painter died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was 83.
Mr. Painter was born February 28, 1918, in Tazewell, Tennessee, to Louis S. and Nancy S. Sharp Painter.
He and Helen L. Powell were married April 17, 1954. She survives.
Mr. Painter had worked in maintenance at Cosco in Columbus for 27 years before retiring in 1983.

Agatha Russell
Former Morgantown resident Agatha M. Russell died Monday, June 25, 2001, at the United Methodist Comunity in Franklin. She was 85.
Mrs. Russell moved to Franklin in 1997 after living 24 years in Morgantown.
She was born April 21, 1916, in Switz City to John and Susie Frye Roach.
She and William M. Russell were married June 5, 1947, in New Albany. He died October 12, 1980.

Melvin L. Torrey
Hamilton Creek Road resident Melvin L. Torrey died Monday, June 18, 2001, at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Torrey was born December 12, 1916, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Clark) Torrey.
He married Bernice Pruitt January 6, 1951, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Columbus. She survives.
Mr. Torrey graduated in 1935 from West Millcreek High School in Erie, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Maryland and Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in 1957.

David Michael Neidhamer
Helmsburg Road resident David Michael Neidhamer died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his residence. He was 52.
He was born August 15, 1948, in San Bruno, California, the son of Robert Francis and Nelda Mae (Christopherson) Neidhamer. His mother, of Fresno, California, survives.
He married Carolyn (Stockwell) Neidhamer April 2, 1982. She survives.
Mr. Neidhamer was an Army veteran, who served in the Vietnam War, from 1967-1970.
He was a member of Gold Prospectors Association of America and employed at Raytheon in Indianapolis.

Robert D. Utterback
The Reverend Robert D. Utterback, who taught Bible studies at Apostolic Church of Unionville, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Lyons Nursing Home. He was 67.
Mr. Utterback was born May 30, 1934, in Bloomington, the son of Wilbur and Fannie (O’Neal) Utterback.
He married Carolyn "Susie" Utterback November 26, 1958. She survives.
He was an apprentice electrician and member of the International Electrical Brotherhood.
Mr. Utterback was a minister of the Apostolic faith and licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International.

Doris R. Wilson
Doris R. Wilson, sister of Peoga residents Mary Brock and Norma Wilson, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in Jacksonville, Florida. A resident of that community, she was 74.
Mrs. Wilson was born April 17, 1927, in Franklin, the daughter of Cassie (Stephens) and Jacob Dougless Rhude.
She was married to Robert E. Wilson for 43 years. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wilson was retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born in Martinsville and Hart Haven Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

Alice L. Bowser
Former Bean Blossom business owner Alice L. Bowser died Wednesday morning, July 4, 2001, at her home in Brown County. She was 91.
Mrs. Bowser was born March 4, 1910, in LaGrange to Frank Bull and Florence Rice.
She and Keith M. Bowser were married in 1950. He died May 19, 1989.
The couple moved to Brown County in 1965.
