Michael T. Turpen

Michael T. Turpen, 44, of Knightstown, died Oct. 15 in Montpelier.
He was born Feb. 8, 1966, in Henry County, a son of Marsha (Mendenhall) Turpen and the late Thomas Turpen.
Mr. Turpen was a 1985 New Castle Chrysler High School graduate who studied bowling lanes management at Vincennes University. He graduated from Vincennes in 1987 with an associate’s degree in bowling lanes management. Mr. Turpen bowled in a professional circuit in Baltimore, Md., and worked for the Brunswick Corporation on the east coast. He also worked at Speedway and Pool Cover Specialists in Knightstown.
Survivors include his mother, Marsha Turpen of Knightstown; a sister, Lora (husband, Jeff) Knipp of Lynn; a daughter, Lani Turpen of Baltimore, Md.; three nieces, Ashley White and Jamie and Meredith Knipp; and four great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were private and burial took place in Green Hill Memory Gardens in New Castle.

Bonnie Drake
August 19, 1932 - October 13, 2010
Bonnie Drake, 78, of Knightstown, died Oct. 13 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Clinton County, Ky., a daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Lizzie (Craft) Wallace.
Mrs. Drake was a homemaker and a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage. An accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, William C. "Bill" Drake of Knightstown; five children, Patty (husband, Mike) Ripberger of New Castle, Tommy W. (wife, Tammy Hopkins) Drake of Charlotte, N.C., Connie (husband, Randy) Brown of New Castle, Neenah (husband, Toney) Spiker of New Castle and Beverly (husband, Jim) Groce of New Castle; 13 grandchildren, Michael Ripberger, Jennifer Bond, Elizabeth Douglas, Jeremy Drake, Chris McDonald, Rachel Turpin, Jason McDonald, Casey McDonald, Ashley Brown, Whitney Spiker, Michalah Spiker, Joshua Groce and Shelby Groce; 16 great-grandchildren, Brandi and Sarah Kidd, Lilli and Bentley W. Drake, Maddison Smith, Morgan Douglas, Reagan and Henry McDonald, Aaron, Emma and Grace McDonald, Sky, Jacob and Kaitlyn Turpin, Tamara Ripberger and Tyler Sexton; two great-great-grandchildren, Conner Kidd and Bentley Turpin; a sister, Emily Marie (husband, Wilmer) Petry of Downey, Cal.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings.
Funeral services were Oct. 16 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Oct. 15 at the funeral home.

Steven Paul Tabor
February 27, 1953 - October 11, 2010
Steve Paul "Tabe Dog" Tabor, 57, of New Castle, died Oct. 11.
He was born Feb. 27, 1953, in New Castle, a son of Paul Leon and Jeanette (Madden) Tabor.
Mr. Tabor was a lifelong New Castle resident and a 1971 New Castle Chrysler High School graduate. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2003 after 31 years of service. Mr. Tabor was a member of United Auto Workers Union #371, New Castle Elks Lodge and Knightstown American Legion Post 152. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing softball and golf. Mr. Tabor was very involved with youth sports in New Castle, serving as a basketball, football and Little League and Babe Ruth baseball coach. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Known as a dedicated family man, Mr. Tabor enjoyed spending time with his wife and children.
Survivors include his wife, Joni (Haines) Tabor; four children, Shawn Alan Tabor of New Castle, Chad Eric (wife, Amy) Tabor of New Castle, Brittani Lynn (husband, Seth) Lee of New Castle and Zachary Paul Tabor of New Castle; two grandchildren, Cameron Elizabeth Tabor of New Castle and Chad Derek Tabor of New Castle; his parents, Paul and Jeanette Tabor of New Castle; three siblings, Brenda (hus band, Bobby) Duvall of Lewisville; Danny (wife, Rachael) Tabor of Florida and Janet Clemens of New Castle; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Luther and Bertha Tabor, and his maternal grandparents, Cleff and Laura Madden.
Funeral services were Oct. 16 at First Baptist Church Family Life Center in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis and Pastor Elwood Evans officiating. Burial followed at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Visitation was Oct. 15 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Steven Paul Tabor Youth Fund. Arrangements were handled by Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
George Ernest Bradway
May 16, 1926 - October 11, 2010
George Ernest Bradway, 84, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Richmond, died Oct. 11 at his home.
He was born May 16, 1926, in New Castle, a son of the late Ernest W. and Clara B. (Montgomery) Bradway.
Mr. Bradway shared the same May 16 birthday with his father and grandfather, and was born in the Henry County Jail in New Castle while his father was sheriff. He attended Knightstown schools for 12 years and later served on the Knightstown High School Alumni Association board, including five years as president. Mr. Bradway served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, 1943-1945. A 1950 Earlham College graduate, he earned a degree in political science. He served as a deputy sheriff in Henry County from 1951-1953. He retired from United Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company in 1988 after 35 years of service. Mr. Bradway retired as a regional claims manager. A member and past president of the Forest Hills Country Club (Richmond) and the Richmond Rotary Club, he was also a past president of the East Central Indiana Claims Association. He was also a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #196 F&AM and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Additionally, Mr. Bradway was a Shriner and a member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152.
Mr. Bradway enjoyed reading, guns, hunting, fishing, blacksmithing, investments, scrimshaw, golf and his English bulldog, Pudge. He traveled extensively and spent winters in Satellite Beach, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Natalie Jean (Rounds) Bradway; two daughters, Charlotte A. (husband, Steven) Horner of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Debora L. (hus band, George) Armstrong of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Amy Ray, Craig Akers, Andrew Armstrong and Blake Armstrong; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline Akers, Allison Akers and Cutter Ray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Bradway; a granddaughter, Kimberly Brook Akers; and two sisters, Doris E. Hoover and Ida L. Staub.
Funeral services were Oct. 14 at The Windsor in Cape Coral, Fla. Burial was private.

Robert R. Jones
July 26, 1922 - October 10, 2010
Robert R. Jones, 88, of Media, Penn., died Oct. 10 at Taylor House Hospice in Media.
He was born July 26, 1922, near Straughn, a son of the late Raymond D. and Grace (Hudelson) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a 1941 Knightstown High School graduate who played basketball and baseball. As a senior he was named outstanding basketball player of the year and his name was engraved on the well-known Carroll Award trophy. Mr. Jones attended Purdue University and received a degree in electrical engineering. He later accepted a job with Westinghouse Corporation, which took him to the east coast. He was known as a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Jones; two sons, Mark (wife, Susan) Jones of Williamsburg, Va., and Scott (wife, Terri) Jones; two grandchildren, Katie and Adam of Robbinsville, N.J.; three sisters, Margaret Smith of Greenfield, Ruth Goodwin of Carmel and Ilarose Cupp of Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Proctor; two nephews; and a niece.
Funeral services will be held at a later time.

Pearl Mae Gregory

Pearl Mae Gregory, 98, of Knightstown, died Nov. 4 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Mt. Pisgah, Ky., a daughter of the late Rev. John and Kiziah (Smith) Blevins.
Mrs. Gregory was a homemaker and a member of Raysville Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener, a former Sunday school teacher and she enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Gladys "Mickey" Easton of Knightstown; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Warren D. Gregory; five brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services were Nov. 8 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Danny Shelton officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Nov. 8 at the funeral home.
Genevieve Marshall
November 11, 1932 - November 1, 2010
Genevieve Marshall, 77, of Anderson, died Nov. 1 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Shirley, a daughter of the late John and Gladys (Markle) Kellum.
Mrs. Marshall worked at Textron Industries for 25 years before retiring in 1997. She was a member of Shirley Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Doug (wife, Nancy) Marshall of Markleville and Tony (wife, Tammy) Marshall of Anderson; two sisters, Jane Frazee of Pendleton and Donna (husband, Dick) Thomas of Shirley; four grandchildren, Misty Bunnell of Fortville, Holly Susong of Lebanon, Eli Marshall of Anderson and Lauren Marshall of Anderson; and four great-grand- children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Junie Kellum, Francis Kestner and Nora Etta Crosley.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Charles Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
