Patricia E. McCracken, 75, of Knightstown, died Oct. 5 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born July 8, 1935, in Shirley, a daughter of the late Clara Elliott.
A telephone operator in Shirley and Knightstown, she also worked at Western Electric.
Mrs. McCracken also owned and operated Jordan Cleaners. Survivors include a son, William (wife, Constance) Pugh of Wisconsin; a daughter, Vicki L. Pugh of Knightstown; a granddaughter, Dionne M. Pugh of Lucedale, Miss.; two great-grand daughters, Addison T. Pugh of Lucedale, Miss., Hallie K. Conners of Shelbyville and Garett Ray of Lucedale, Miss.; a cousin, Donald Rigney of Greenfield.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, her grandparents, a stepdaughter and a cousin.
Funeral services were Oct. 9 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Zach Pugh II officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was Oct. 8 at the funeral home.
Shirley M. Carroll
October 15, 1935 - October 5, 2010
Shirley M. "Granny" Carroll, 74, of New Castle, formerly of Knightstown, died Oct. 5 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
She was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Peru, a daughter of the late Artie and Faye (Collins) Wells.
Mrs. Carroll moved to Knightstown in 1959. She lived in New Castle for the last eight years. She was a bookkeeper for the Knightstown Water Department for several years. She retired from the state of Indiana’s Division of Social Services after 10 years of service. Mrs. Carroll enjoyed crafts, home interior decorating and collecting Cherish Teddies and angels. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was known as "Granny" to many people. Survivors include three children, Duane (wife, Carol) Carroll of Knightstown, Julie (husband, Brian) Dellinger of New Castle and Mark (wife, Karmen) Carroll of Greenfield; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (wife, Jane) Wells of Peru and Dick Wells of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 9 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Oct. 8 at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Brady
March 25, 1955 - October 4, 2010
Mary Ellen Brady, 55, of Greenfield, died Oct. 4 at her home.
She was born March 25, 1955, in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Henry E. and Mildred Lucille (Nichols) Pearson.
Mrs. Brady worked at RCA in Indianapolis for 20 years. Most recently she worked four years at Federal-Mogul. She enjoyed attracting and feeding humming birds and spending weekends at the lake.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy Brady of Indianapolis; six sisters, Loretta Foust, Ruth Brown, Patty Luttrell, Carol Anne Amato, Della Pearson and Vivian Pearson; three brothers, Fred Gettle, Donald Pearson and Robert Pearson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys, Jean and Dorothy; and two brothers, Frank and Larry.
Funeral services were Oct. 9 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Richard Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Oct. 9 at the funeral home.

John Howard Stanley
September 24, 1931 - June 16, 2010
John Howard Stanley (formerly John Head), 78, of Fayetteville, N.C., died June 16.
He was born Sept. 24, 1931.
Mr. Stanley attended Knightstown’s Central School and graduated in 1950 from Knightstown High School. He spent 23 years in the U.S. Army, serving one tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Germany. He retired as a first sergeant with multiple awards, including two achievement medals and three bronze stars. Mr. Stanley enjoyed fishing, wood working, leather work and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (wife, Nancy) Stanley of St. Louis, Mo., and Patrick (wife, Tina) Stanley of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Amanda) Stanley of St. Louis, Mo., Ashton Patrick and JJ; and three great-grandchildren, Skyler, Nevin and Gavyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Ogden United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Stoten officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Robert D. Sleeth
June 28, 1929 - October 18, 2010
Robert D. Sleeth, 81, of Knightstown, formerly of Greenfield, died Oct. 18 at his daughter’s home.
He was born June 28, 1929, in New Palestine, a son of the late Ernest Columbus and Marie (Behnke) Sleeth.
Mr. Sleeth was a 1947 New Palestine High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later was a pipefitter at Indiana Gas Company for 21 years. A past commander of Morristown American Legion Post 102, he was a member of New Hope Church in Lewisville. Mr. Sleeth enjoyed fishing, basketball, football and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Kathy (Sleeth) Belcher of Greenfield, Kristi (husband, Randy) Ebbert of Knightstown, Kevin (wife, Darla) Sleeth of Morristown; a brother, Bill (wife, Diane) Sleeth of New Whiteland; a sister, Judy Smith of Martinsville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Walls, Amy VanDuyn, Heather Reed and Robert Ebbert; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Kennedy) Sleeth; a brother, Richard Sleeth; and a sister, Phyllis Toon.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Jim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by Morristown American Legion Post 102. Visitation was Oct. 19 at the funeral home.

Father Patrick Michael Commons

Father Patrick Michael Commons, 86, of Beech Grove, a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis, died Oct. 17 at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove.
Father Commons was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Kokomo, a son of the late Patrick and Louise (Stuppe) Commons.
He was ordained to the priesthood in 1951 as a member of Divine World Missionaries. After serving 14 years as a missionary in India, he returned to America and was incardinated into the archdiocese in 1970. Father Commons served parishes in Millhousen, Indianapolis (St. Lawrence), Yorkville, Knightstown and Charlestown. He retired from St. Charles and St. Pius in Milan in 1993.
Survivors include a sister, Noreen C. Van Slyke of Indianapolis; two sisters-in-law, Martha Commons of Indianapolis and Shirley Commons of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Leo, Ted, Jim, Rev. Thomas SVD, Norbert and Julian Commons; and two sisters, Anna C. Monahan and Margaret Commons.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m., at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove. Funeral services are Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Milan with Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Milan. Lews Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan handled arrangements.
Thomas R. Kelley

Thomas R. Kelley, 61, of Knightstown, formerly of Bloomington and Shelbyville, died Oct. 16 at his home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1949, in Washington, D.C., a son of Patricia A. (Phillips) Kelley and the late Paul E. Kelley.
Mr. Kelley attended Shelbyville High School and Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, where he earned an associate’s degree in engineering. He worked as a correctional office for 14 years at Pendleton Correctional Facility.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia A. Kelley of Shelbyville; his wife, Teresa M. (Radford) Kelley of Knightstown; six children, Cyndi F. (husband, Robert) Kelley-Rogers of Bloomington, Shawn R. Rose Meek of Greenfield, David L. (wife, Tammy) Rose of Greenfield, Travis W. (wife, Michelle) Kelley of Bloomington, Ronald L. Kelley of Bloomington and Kasondra D. Kelley of Knightstown; two brothers, Michael D. Kelley of Greenwood and Gary A. (wife, Kathy) Kelley of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.
