Wanda Jean Bradshaw

Wanda Jean Bradshaw, 84, of Indianapolis, died October 16 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
She was born May 14, 1924 in Crawford County, a daughter of the late Atmer Hanger and Edna Kellams.
Mrs. Bradshaw was a homemaker and a member of Greenwood Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bradshaw of Greenwood and Becky (husband, Don) Wence of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Elmer Hanger of Sellersburg; a sister, Mary Lou Jackson of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Mary, Chris, Tim and Brian Bradshaw, and Colin and Emily Wence; and four great-granddaughters.
Funeral services were October 20 at Denbo Funeral Home in English. Burial followed at Mather’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was October 20 at the funeral home.
Beulah V. Mellen
Oct. 25, 1925 – Oct. 19, 2008
Beulah V. (Chamness) Mellen, 82, formerly of Wilkinson, died October 19 at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson.
She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Robbins, Tenn., a daughter of the late Lindsay and Lucy (Marsh) Davis.
Mrs. Mellen was a member of Knightstown Church of God. She was an avid bingo player who loved music, crafts, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, singing and playing guitar.
Survivors include a son, Terry (wife, Doris) Riley of Yukon, Okla.; three daughters, Pamela (husband, Larry) Caudill of Anderson, Lynne (husband, Mark) Todd of New Castle and Vicky Hastings of Anderson; 12 grandchildren, Blake and Grant Riley, Amber Record, Christopher Austin, Shannon Hamman, Melanie Bourquine, Lacy Tutrow, Brandon Hastings, Heather Turner, Breanna Todd, Alexis Drew and Ashley Hastings; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Johnson; a brother, Harold Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Mellen; two sisters, Flonnie Ellis and Bonnie Davis; a granddaughter, Emily Hastings; a brother, Howard Davis; and a son, Robert Chamness.
Funeral services were October 22 at Knightstown Church of God with Pastor Early Hall, Elwood Evans and Joe Roysden officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was October 21 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Leonard Lantie Jeffers
June 1, 1940 – Oct. 3, 2008
Leonard Lantie Jeffers, 68, of Knightstown, died October 3 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
He was born June 1, 1940, in Scott County, Tenn., a son of the late Wilbert J. and Lucy Thelma (Boshears) Jeffers.
Mr. Jeffers was a retired contract mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Eastern Tennessee. Prior to that he was a computer operator for many years with various companies. Mr. Jeffers was a member of Buffalo Bridge Baptist Church in Huntsville, Tenn. He was also a Little League softball and baseball coach in the Irvington (Indianapolis) area.
Survivors include his wife, Judith E. (Query) Jeffers; a son, Leonard Jr. (wife, Peggy) Jeffers of Indianapolis; a daughter, Becky (husband, Steve) Hibbert of Knightstown; three brothers, Glen (wife, Pearl) Jeffers, Wayford “Pete” (wife, Christine) Jeffers and Charles (wife, Sandra) Jeffers, all of Tennessee; a sister, Bonnie June Lowe of Tennessee; grandchildren, Amber, Brad and Cody Hibbert of Knightstown, Taylor Dukes, and Dylan and Peyton Jeffers, all of Indianapolis; and two cousins, Helen Norris and Thermon (wife, Barb) Jeffers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeff and Ronald Jeffers; and a sister, Hilda Jeffers.
Funeral services were October 6 at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Tenn., with Pastor Demas Love officiating. Graveside services and burial took place October 7 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was October 5 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Cherrie A. Trees

Cherrie A. Trees, 71, of Greenfield, formerly of Warrington, died October 7 at her home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1936, a daughter of the late Forrest and Mary Edith (Eakin) Trees.
Miss Trees retired from Harley-Sprague-Dawley in Cumberland. She attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include several cousins.
Graveside funeral services were October 13 at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with Sister Shirley Gerth officiating.
Paul Allen Brammer
September 25, 1943 - July 14, 2010
Paul Allen Brammer, 66, of New Castle, Va., formerly of Knightstown, died July 14.
He born Sept. 25, 1943, a son of the late Alvie and Wilma (Dick) Brammer.
Mr. Brammer was a 1961 Knightstown High School graduate who served aboard the U.S.S. Norfolk from 1963-1967. He was a member of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Brammer; a son, Jonathan Brammer; three daughters, Jennifer (husband, Chris) Williams; Kathryn (husband, Danny) Forrest and Elizabeth (husband, Kevin) Reiter; four grandchildren, Kyle, Dawn, Lynn and Patrick; three brothers, Darryl (wife, Pat) Brammer of Anderson, David (wife, Sheila) Brammer of Shirley and Joe (wife, Pauline) Brammer of New Castle; a sister, Sybil (husband, Larry) Lawrence of Lancaster, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Saturday, July 31, at 3 p.m. at St. Philip Lutheran Church with Revs. David Derrick and Kelly Derrick officiating. A reception with the family will follow. Arrangements were handled by Oakey’s North Chapel and Crematory.

Clara B. Sweigart

Clara B. (Wilson) Sweigart, 98, of rural New Castle, died June 30 at her home.
She was born May 12, 1912, in East St. Louis, Ill., a daughter of the late Clarence and Della (Bisso) Wilson.
Mrs. Sweigart was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, poetry and collecting antiques. She and her late husband, George, owned Mt. Lawn Speedway in Greensboro for several years. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Sanders of Yorktown; a son, Rick Sweigart of Mt. Lawn; a grandson, Mike Sweigart of New Castle; 10 grandchildren, Cheryl McCambridge of New Castle, Jeff Sanders of Muncie, Joel Sanders of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Judy Johnson of Muncie, Jamie Sanders of Muncie, Joan Sanders of Muncie, Jane Pierce of Fishers, Julie Herb of Byrdstown, Tenn., Jill Brunt of Noblesville and Leigh Garvin of Fortville; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, George "Bucky" Sweigart; and a granddaughter, Jody Sweigart Vonderheide.
Funeral services were July 4 at Cadiz Friends Church. Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson handled arrangements.

Virginia M. Jackson
October 16, 1940 - June 29, 2010
Virginia M. Jackson, 69, of Knightstown, died June 29 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Oct. 16, 1940, in Milford, Ill., a daughter of the late George and Minnie (Bromfield) Mann.
Mrs. Jackson was the food service manager for the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation. She was a member of home-ec club and Milford Christian Church. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She worked in food service for 20 years with the CAB school corporation and was known to go above and beyond her duties. Mrs. Jackson donated money every year to students to purchase items from Santa’s secret workshop. She also donated money to students going on a field trip who may not have the money to purchase a souvenir. Mrs. Jackson also bought hats for kids in the winter and personally paid for lunches so a child wouldn’t have to have a sack. Many students referred to her as "Grandma Virginia" after her weekly visits to local preschools. Many times Mrs. Jackson used her own money to purchase little items needed for the school kitchen.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Jackson of Knightstown; two daughters, Lynn (husband, Joe) Burns of Brook and Robin (husband, Darrin) Donaldson of Milford, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Jennifer McCarlie of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Zane and Jacob Burns, T.J. Henady, Wade Lavoie, Rachel Donaldson, Shawn Pitzer and Austin Brotherton; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; three sisters, Sue Kissack, Betty Dawson and Geniece Allen, all of Milford, Ill.; two brothers, Charles Mann of Milford and Scott Mann of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 6 at Milford Christian Church in Milford, Ill., with Rev. Gary Milton officiating. Burial followed at Milford Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was July 6 at the church and July 5 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson.
