Rachael L. Cain

Rachael L. Cain, 30, of Rushville, died Sunday, August 14, at her residence. She was born October 2, 1974 in Shelbyville, daughter of Larry W. Jordan of Amherst, Va. and Brenda Jane (Dile) Meal of Rushville.
Mrs. Cain was a 1994 graduate of North Decatur High School. She was a homemaker and loved music and singing. She was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church in St. Paul.
She married Steve J. Cain on April 23, 1999, and he survives. In addition to her parents, also surviving are her four daughters, Miranda Brattain, Mariah Cain, Makayla Cain and Audrie Cain, all of Rushville; one stepson, Kevin Cain; one stepdaughter, Teresa Cain; paternal grandmother Iris Jordan of Charlottesville, Va.; stepmother Annette Jordan of Amherst, Va.; brother Patrick Meal; and two sisters, Ginny Meal and Katy Jordan.
Mrs. Cain was preceded in death by her stepfather Jerry I. Meal and her paternal grandfather John C. Jordan.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 18, at Todd Funeral Home, Rushville. Burial followed in Center Church Cemetery, Rush County.
Robert Neal
July 5, 1922 – Aug. 25, 2005
Robert Neal, 83, of Knightstown, died Thursday, August 25, at Brandywine Nursing Home, Greenfield. He was born July 5, 1922, in Somerset, Ky., son of the late James and Loretta Neal.
Mr. Neal retired from Dana Corporation in New Castle. He was also a farmer. A member of the Church of God, he enjoyed racing registered quarter horses.
Survivors include a son, Robert O. (wife Pamela) Neal of Knightstown; a daughter, Debby (husband Bob) Monger of Knightstown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmar Neal of Muncie; a sister, Dorothy Boots of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Neal, on October 19, 2004.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27, at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson, with David Bonne officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Saturday, August 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Levi Stephen “Steve” Hanning
Aug. 3, 1946 – Aug. 26, 2005
Levi Stephen “Steve” Hanning, 59, died Friday, August 26, at his home in New Castle following an extended illness. He was born August 3, 1946, in New Castle, son of Levi C. Manning and the late Ida Mae Manning Hanning.
Mr. Hanning, a lifelong resident of New Castle, was a 1964 graduate of Chrysler High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked at Carr Metal Products in Indianapolis for the past 16 years. Mr. Hanning enjoyed building models and collecting Hot Wheel Cars.
He married Mary “Cookie” Polston on May 3, 1975, and she survives. In addition to his father, survivors include a son, Cosby Jacob (wife Melissa) Hanning of New Castle; a granddaughter, Merissa Hanning; a sister, Kay Armstrong of Indianapolis; two nephews, Greg Armstrong of Lawrence and Cody Joe Hanning of Sulphur Springs; three nieces, Kynietha Buckler of Tampa, Fla., Kayla Massengale of New Castle and Kanetta Denk of Brandon, Fla.; several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Hanning was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 30, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel, with Rev. Eric Hickman officiating. Military services were conducted by the New Castle American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday, August 29, from 3-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Warren Alan Pearson
Mar. 19, 1948 – Aug. 27, 2005
Warren Alan Pearson, 57, of Charlottesville, died Saturday, August 27, at Regency Place Healthcare Center in Greenfield. He was born March 19, 1948, in Charlottesville, son Marietta (Gates) Pearson and the late Warren L. Pearson.
Mr. Pearson served in the U. S. Navy in Vietnam. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion and attended Charlottesville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Marietta Pearson of Charlottesville; two brothers, Thomas (wife Janet) Pearson of Corbin and Michael (wife Joyce) Pearson of Greenfield; one nephew; and three nieces.
Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by his father in 1993.
Services were held Wednesday, August 31, at 10 a.m., at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson, with Shirley Lukens officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Knightstown American Legion.
Visitation was held at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30.

Joseph F. Roland
Mar. 12, 1918 – Aug. 28, 2005
Joseph R. Roland, 87, longtime resident of Knightstown, died Sunday, August 28, at Hancock Memorial Hospital, Greenfield. He was born March 12, 1918, in Greenfield, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Chapman) Roland.
Mr. Roland was a transportation worker for the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home and a longtime employee of Butcher Funeral Home in Knightstown. He was a member of AM Vets, Pendleton and the Knightstown American Legion.
Mr. Roland is survived by a son, Jerry Roland; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Marie (Carlson) on October 19, 2004; a son, Buddy Roland; five sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Todd Funeral Home, Knightstown, Thursday, September 1, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, August 31, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Douglas Eugene Cupp
Jan. 24, 1930 – Aug. 28, 2005
Douglas Eugene Cupp, 75, of Shirley, died Sunday, August 28, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis. He was born January 24, 1930, in Shirley, son of the late Wade and Versie (Irick) Cupp.
Mr. Cupp was a 1948 graduate of Wilkinson High School. He was employed as a semi-truck truck driver for Dumford Trucking Company for 34 years and retired from TNT Holland Trucking Company in 1992. He was a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ, where he was known as the “Cheerful Greeter.” Mr. Cupp sang bass with the Cupp Brothers Quartet for several years. In 1955, the quartet hosted a gospel hour at radio station WCTW in New Castle. The group also traveled in a three-state area presenting gospel concerts.
Mr. Cupp is survived by wife of 55 years, Joan (Collier) Cupp; a son, Scott (wife Brenda) Cupp of Shirley; a daughter, Terri (husband Tim) Gilliland of Vermont, Ill.; a sister, Rosemary Lewis of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Swarts; four brothers, Leonard, Toby, Glen and Gene Cupp; and one sister, Helen Rozell.
A celebration of life will be held at the Wilkinson Church of Christ on Thursday, September 1, at 11 a.m.
Visitation will be held at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson, Wednesday, August 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Marion L. “Bud” Holliday
Sept. 2, 1934 – Sept. 18, 2005
Marion L. “Bud” Holliday, 71, of rural Eden, died Sunday, September 18, at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield. He was born September 2, 1934, in Hancock County, son of the late Paul and Dorothea (Spegal) Holliday.
Mr. Holliday retired from Eastern Hancock School Corporation as transportation director. He trained and drove Pacers and Trotters and was a blacksmith and harness maker. He was a member of the National Standard Bred Association. He attended Eden United Methodist Church. Mr. Holliday was an avid basketball fan and loves Colts football.
Survivors include his wife, Fern (Hargrove) Holliday of rural Eden; four sons, Rick Lee (wife Dial) Holliday of Greenfield, Ronny W. (wife Melinda) Holliday of Wilkinson, Randy E. Holliday of Wilkinson and Roger A. Holliday of Brownsburg; two daughters, Robin (husband Mike) Mercer of Brownsburg and Rhonda (husband Stephen) Ley of Avon; three stepdaughters, Debbie Swincher of Knightstown, Betty (husband Matt) Wise of Speedway and Cathy (husband Brian) Evans of Greenfield; a stepson, Steve (wife Nancy) Hargrove of Eden; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Barnhart, Sue Holmes and Linda Townsend, all of Greenfield; two brothers, Gene Holliday of Greenfield and Steve Holliday of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Holliday was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Holliday, on October 7, 2001; daughter Jeannette Holliday in 1954; three brothers, Norman, Paul, Jr. and Richard Holliday.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 10 a.m. at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson, with Sally Dickerson and Jack Holliday officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
Visitation was held at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 21.
