Betty E. Seyfferle

Betty E. Seyfferle, 74, of Knightstown, died June 3 at her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Ernest Addison and Gladys Evelyn (Knight) White.
Mrs. Seyfferle was a Wilkinson High School graduate and a beautician who owned Betty’s Hair Styling Salon from 1972-1982. She and her husband, John, were co-owners and co-brokers of J&B Real Estate from 1982-1994. Mrs. Seyfferle also worked with her husband in breeding and raising registered Tennessee walking horses. A past member of Kappa Delta Phi in Markleville and Psi Iota Xi in Knightstown, she was also a past president of Knightstown Business and Professional Women.
Survivors include her husband, John Richard Seyferle of Knightstown; three sons, Michael Zornes, Steven Ray (wife, Lori) Zornes and John Chris (wife, Nancy) Seyfferle; six grandchildren, Andrea Jones, Zachary Zornes, Dustin (wife, Brittany) Seyfferle, Derek Seyfferle, Ashley Wilhelm and Brittany Cox; eight great-grandchildren, Aleysha Jones, Shane Jones, Christian High, Alexis High, Ian Seyfferle, Macy Seyfferle, Addison Seyfferle and Dominick Stewart; two sisters, Evelyn (husband, George) Mason and Shirley Sullivan; two brothers, Jack White and Jerry (wife, Mary) White; a sister-in-law, Virginia Walker; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Zornes.
Funeral services were June 7 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Thomas H. Current officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was June 6 at the funeral home.
Helen E. Fisher
Aug. 14, 1925 – June 6, 2008
Helen E. Fisher, 82, of Greenfield, formerly of Wilkinson, died June 6 at Regency Place in Greenfield.
She was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Anderson, a daughter of the late James and Mila (Penniston) Childers.
Mrs. Fisher was a lifelong homemaker and a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, Loyal Ladies Aid and Good Sam’s RV Club, Chapter 87, of Indiana.
Survivors include her husband, Everett Howard Fisher of Greenfield; a daughter, Margi (wife, Marvin) Beeson of Greenfield; a son, Dennis (wife, Jan) Fisher of Wilkinson; a brother, James Calvin Childers of Marion; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Loudenback and Gerry Hosier; and two grandsons, Cory Fisher and Eric Beeson.
Funeral services were June 9 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Gary Sickle officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was June 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Evelyn Susan Smith
July 4, 1943 – June 1, 2008
Evelyn Susan Smith, 64, of Columbus, formerly of Knightstown, died June 1 at Columbus Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Oliver and Laura (Sanders) Smith.
Miss Smith lived in Knightstown with her caregiver, Minnie Day, for 30 years. She left Knightstown two years ago. Miss Smith was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dunreith.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Rev. Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial will follow.
Bill Whitfield
Aug. 23, 1937 – April 30, 2008
Bill Whitfield, 72, of Leitchfield, Ky., died April 30 at his home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1937, a son of the late Leo and Marie (Wells) Whitfield.
Mr. Whitfield retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a member of Leitchfield American Legion Post 81.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Whitfield of Leitchfield; a son, Chad Whitfield of Leitchfield; two stepsons, Jim (wife, Dawn) Flaugher and Thad (wife, Amanda) Flaugher, both of Leitchfield; a stepdaughter, Connie (husband, J.T.) Childress also of Leitchfield; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Whitfield; and a sister, Marge Fentress.
Funeral services were May 4 at Rogers-Oller Funeral Chapel in Clarkson, Ky., with Brother Chester Shartzer officiating. Cremation followed. Visitation was May 3 at the funeral home.
Donna Ann Buchanan
May 17, 1942 - May 2, 2008
Donna Ann Buchanan died May 2.
She was born May 17, 1942. Mrs. Buchanan worked on the pricing team at Winn Dixie Grocery for 15 years.
Survivors include five sons, Bill Donald Curry of Margate, Fla., Robert Clinton (wife, Shannon) Currey of Lafayette, Michael Donovan Curry of Margate, Fla., Mark Allen (wife, Sammy) Curry of Margate, Fla. And Kevin Paul Banning, also of Margate; her mother, Mary Agnes McGee of Margate; a sister, Patricia Sue (husband, Doc) Fowler of Indianapolis; a brother, Paul Joseph (wife, Sally) Dobson; a niece, Kimberly Ann (husband, Tom) Clark of Franklin; a nephew, Paul Robert Joseph of Evansville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald K. Smith.
Funeral services are June 7 at 1 p.m. at Todd Funeral Home. Visitation is noon until time of services on June 7.
Emmitt Thomas Davis
April 22, 1915 – May 27, 2008
Emmitt Thomas Johnson Davis, 93, of Greenfield, formerly of Wilkinson, died May 27 at Golden Living Center Brandywine in Greenfield.
He was born April 22, 1915 in Blacksburg, Va., a son of the late Charles T. and Osia (Richardson) Davis.
Mr. Davis retired in 1977 from Nicholson File in Anderson. He was a member of Knightstown Baptist Church and the Model A Restoration Club.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Davis of Greenfield; two daughters, Mary (husband, Richard) Roland of Greenfield and Betty Shannon of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Fern Davis of Anderson; five brothers, Harmon Davis of New Castle, Lawrence (wife, Maxine) Davis of Kentucky, Nalvin Davis of Anderson, Dale Davis of Markleville and Clifford (wife, Shirley) Davis of Spencer; three sisters, Marie Gadberry of Middletown, Gearldine (husband, Theo) Perkins of Pendleton and Arline (husband, Harold) Merchant of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Davis; a daughter, Patricia Beck; two brothers, Andrew and Lowry Davis; and three sisters, Bertha Sharp, Mary Lou McDonald and Lorine Edwards.
Funeral services were May 31 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was May 30 at the funeral home.
Charles Roberts Howlett
Oct. 16, 1936 – May 29, 2008
Charles Roberts Howlett, 71, of De Soto, Kan., died May 29 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan.
He was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Long Beach, Cal., a son of the late Charles Pricie and Mildred (Roberts) Howlett.
Mr. Howlett graduated from Knightstown High School and Purdue University. He served for nine years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Howlett was an electrical technician for gasoline pumps. He worked for Tokheim Co. in Kansas City, Mo. He also worked part-time for the City of Lenexa. Three years ago, he moved to De Soto from Shawnee, Kan.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Rentfrow of Bonner Springs, Kan., and Michele Morse of Shawnee, Kan.; three grandchildren; a brother, Doug Howlett of Indianapolis; and a sister, Mary Howlett of Markle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Howlett; and his wife, Sara.
Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner, Kan., handled cremation arrangements.
