Larry Martin Budd, 55, of New Castle, died December 7 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born Sept. 5, 1952, in Fort Wayne, a son of Robert and Bernadette Budd.
Mr. Budd worked at Hillcraft Industries.
Survivors include his guardian, Patricia Lozano of Richmond.
Funeral services were December 11 at Main and Davis Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Bobby Slagle officiating. Visitation was December 11 at the funeral home.
Mary Jane Lowder
July 18, 1936 – Dec. 5, 2007
Mary Jane Lowder, 71, of Greenfield, died December 5 at Regency Place Nursing Home in Greenfield.
She was born July 18, 1936, in Fortville, a daughter of the late Corbett and Helen (Reed) Humbles.
Mrs. Lowder retired in 1998 from Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, where she served as a rehabilitation technician in the Hooks Rehab Center for 28 years. She also worked for Estelle Ambulance Service and was a former member of Huntsville Community Church. Mrs. Lowder attended Fortville Nazarene Church and was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include two daughters, Chris (husband, Harvey) Robbins of Knightstown and Darlene (husband, Joe) Shannon of Pendleton; a son, Eugene A. “Butch” (wife, Mary Ann) Lowder of Sheridan; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene P. Lowder; a brother, Floyd W. Humbles; and a son, Dale Lowder.
Funeral services were December 10 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, in Greenfield with Pastor Phil Edwards officiating. Burial followed at Eden Cemetery. Lawrence Conley
March 1, 1945 – Nov. 27, 2007
Lawrence “Bean” Conley, 62, of Greenfield, died November 27 at his home.
He was born March 1, 1945, in Rushville, a son of the late Donald and Laura (McCles) Conley.
Mr. Conley worked at Roll Coater in Greenfield, where he served as a waste treatment operator for over 40 years. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the U.A.W. Mr. Conley enjoyed fishing and was an avid Indiana Pacers and Indiana University basketball fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula (husband, Darrin) Couch of Wilkinson; a son, Shannon Conley of Michigan; a daughter-in-law, Robin Conley; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Chuck Conley of California and Robert Conley of Shirley; four sisters, Rose Robinette of Greenfield, Aletta Andis of Indianapolis, Learl Cook of Carthage and Martha Gordon of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Conley; two sons, Mike and Karl Conley; and three brothers, Benny, Bill and Benjamin Conley.
Funeral services were December 3 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, in Greenfield with Pastor Danny Shelton officiating. Burial followed at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with full military graveside rites conducted by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation was December 2 at the funeral home.
Robert K. Stout
Nov. 11, 1924 – Dec. 16, 2007
Robert K. Stout, 83, of Arlington, died December 16 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born Nov. 11, 1924, in New Castle, a son of the late Jesse D. and Marie (Henby) Stout.
Mr. Stout was a 1943 Arlington High School graduate. He was one of the oldest breeders of miniature horses in the United States. He was also well-known in the llama and alpaca business and he showed these animals throughout the nation. One of the founding directors of the American Miniature Horse Association, he was also a member of the International Llama Association and Arlington Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Janie Newhouse of Indianapolis, Sharon (husband, James) Broughton of Waldron and Nancy (husband, Larry) Richards of Shelbyville; a sister, Virginia (husband, William) Catt of Paris, Ill.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Warren Brokering officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Arlington. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of service on December 19.
Don C. “Acie” Walters
Aug. 28, 1920 – Dec. 19, 2007
Don C. “Acie” Walters, 87, of Greenfield, died December 19 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Trenton, Tenn., a son of the late J.C. and Hattie Jane (Eddleman) Walters.
Mr. Walters was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked for Greenfield Central schools and retired after 30 years of service.
Survivors include four children, William J. (wife, Jeneva) Walters of Indianapolis, Timothy Walters and Pam Lyman, both of California and Brian Walters of Kansas; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were December 22 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Gary Sickle officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson with full military graveside rites conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was December 21 at the funeral home.
Joe Fred White
Sept. 9, 1932 – Dec. 20, 2007
Joe Fred White, 75, died December 20 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Albany, Ky., a son of the Roscoe and Sophia (Sheffield) White.
Mr. White was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and Greensboro Masonic Lodge #175. He retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. A lifelong farmer, he enjoyed landscaping, gardening, mowing and working in the yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed gospel music and singing regularly.
Survivors include five children, Steve (wife, Amy) White of New Castle, Sheila (husband, Rick) Holder of New Castle, Rhonda (husband, Steve) Dugger of Middletown, Roger White of Lafayette and Sherri (husband, Scott) Keen of Marion; a former wife, Frances White of New Castle; grandchildren, Ricky “Boog” Holder of Mooreland, Rachel (husband, Chris) Walls of Greensboro, Josh Dugger of Mooreland, Amber (husband, Chad) Planck of Marion, Jacob White of Mt. Summit, Whitnie White of New Lisbon, Marci White of New Castle, Seth and Caleb Dugger of Middletown; great-grandchildren, Madison, Jack, Dharma and Grace Holder and Reagan and Reece Hall, all of Greensboro; a brother, Howard (wife, Susan) White of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Glencoe and Earl White; and two sisters, Dean Lawson and Betty Huffman.
Funeral services were December 24 at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in New Castle with Revs. Charles Dugger and Gene Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle. Masonic services were December 23. Visitation was December 23 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Dortha Grossman
April 3, 1909 – Dec. 21, 2007
Dortha Grossman, 98, of Knightstown, died December 21 at Heartland Healthcare in Avon.
She was born April 3, 1909, a daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Ramsey.
Mrs. Grossman was a lifelong member of Knightstown United Methodist Church. She worked as a teller at First National Bank in Knightstown for many years, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene (husband, Tom) Sato of Huntsville, Ala., and Susan (husband, Fred) Griffin of Plainfield; seven grandchildren, Cindy, David and Michael Griffin, Stanley, Sam and Clifford Sato and Julie Harrell; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Marion Rhodes, Porter Carroll and Darold “D.W.” Grossman.
Funeral services were December 23 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Burial followed in at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was December 23 at the funeral home.
