Bobby E. Carroll

Bobby E. Carroll, 82, of Greenfield, died October 28 at Brandywine Health Care Center in Greenfield. He was born May 1, 1925, in French Lick, a son of the late Porter and Olive (Jacobs) Carroll.
Mr. Carroll retired from Chrysler Corporation, where he served as a general foreman, in Indianapolis in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A member of the Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and the VFW, he was also an avid NASCAR and Colts fan. Mr. Carroll enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly family trips to his hometown, French Lick.
Survivors include his wife, Jane (Jones) Carroll; his stepmother, Dortha Grossman; a son, Robert (wife, Becky) Carroll of Wilkinson; two daughters, Sharon (husband, Jerry) Mann of Wilkinson and Patti (husband, Mitchell) Lakin of Highland Park, Ill.; five grandchildren, Robby Carroll, Rusty Carroll, Adam (wife, Nicole) Mann, Andrea (husband, Jason) Cramer and Dannah Lakin; a great-grandchild, Jaylynn Carroll; two brothers, Charles Carroll of Centerville and Norman Carroll of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Carroll.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Dan Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military graveside rites conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation is Wednesday, October 31, from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
W. Lloyd Bridges
Aug. 31, 1921 – Oct. 28, 2007
W. Lloyd Bridges, M.D., 86, of Fort Wayne, died October 28 at Towne House Health Center in Fort Wayne. He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Knightstown, a son of the late W. Avery and Hazel (Charman) Bridges.
Mr. Bridges was a radiologist and a partner in Fort Wayne Radiology for 50 years. He retired in 1993. A past president of the Fort Wayne Community School Board and the Fort Wayne Medical Society, he also served as a YMCA board member, Ivy Tech Community College Charter Board of Trustees member, Quest Club member, IU Memorial Union board member and a chamber of commerce member. Mr. Bridges was also an elder at First Presbyterian Church and he was an World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bridges of Fort Wayne; six children, Barbara Parker, Donna (husband, Steve) Riethmiller, both of Fort Wayne, Karen Schlatter of Rossford, Ohio, William (wife, Anne) Bridges of Fort Wayne, Robert (wife, Denise) of Dublin, Ohio, Meribeth (husband, Al) Figel of Fort Wayne; a brother, Lowell (wife, Joann) Bridges of Knightstown; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Parker, Jr.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 1, at First Presbyterian Church, in Fort Wayne with Dr. John Stephen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, and 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, November 1, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home in Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ivy Tech W. Lloyd Bridges Scholarship Fund, First Presbyterian Church or Parkview Home Health Care and Hospice, all in Fort Wayne.
Arvil Reffitt
July 6, 1915 – Oct. 23, 2007
Arvil Reffitt, 92, of Wilkinson, died October 23 at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield.
He was born July 6, 1915, in Palmyra, Ky., a son of the late Amos and Ada (Kirk) Reffitt.
A World War II and Korean War veteran, Mr. Reffitt served in the United State Navy. He retired from Anaconda Wire and Cable Company in Anderson after 30 years of service. He then worked at Midwest Tank Company in Indianapolis as an electrician. Mr. Reffitt was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle. He enjoyed traveling and doing electrical work.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Louise (Runyon) Reffitt of Wilkinson; three sons, Larry Reffitt of Wilkinson, Phillip (wife, Pam) Reffitt of Kissimmee, Fla., and Paul Dewayne (wife, Barbara) Reffitt of Branson, Mo.; eight grandchildren, David, Robert, Angel, Dara, Aaron, Carrie, Lauren and Katie Reffitt; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Erik and Cuadra; a sister, Marie Vanderpool of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were October 27 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Revs. Jonathan Morgan and Leon Davis officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Military graveside rites were conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was October 26 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Jeri R. Ezell
Sept. 2, 2005 – Oct. 31, 2007
Jeri R. Ezell, 19, of Shirley, died October 31 at Hancock Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Indianapolis, a daughter of Johnthain R. and Blanch E. (Chrisman) Bush.
A homemaker who loved animals, she married Christopher M. Ezell on Sept. 2, 2007.
Survivors include her husband, Chris of Shirley; a daughter, Jazmynn Ezell of Shirley; her parents, Johnthain and Blanche Bush of Kennard; a sister, Jamie Bush of Kennard; maternal grandfather, Walker Chrisman of Kennard; paternal grandfather, James R. Bush of Bogalusa, La.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Mary Chrisman and Carrie May Bush.
Funeral services were November 5 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville. Burial followed at Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery. Visitation was November 4 at the funeral home.
Manley J. Yoke
Aug. 19, 1948 – Oct. 30, 2007
Manley J. Yoke, 59, formerly of Richmond, died October 30 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 19, 1948, in Richmond, a son of the late Leland G. and Theresa M. Yoke-Setser. Mr. Yoke lived in the Richmond and Centerville areas for 56 years before moving to Shirley two years ago. He attended Centerville schools, but graduated from Cambridge City’s Lincoln High School in 1966. In earlier times he worked at Farm Bureau Co-op and Kirkman’s Union 76 service station. Later, he worked at Remsco as an electric motor repairman for 23 years and then spent a year at Fowler Vending. He retired in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Belinda Yoke; two sons, Jason Yoke of Knightstown and Nathan Yoke of Shirley; a brother, Neal (wife, Pam) Yoke of Springfield, Ohio; his father-in-law, Warren Story of Richmond; a brother-in-law, Douglas (wife, Josephine) Story of Connersville; three sisters-in-law, Diane (husband, Gary) Story; Terry Strelow of South Carolina and Pam Thompson of Centerville; a special family member, Anita Redcloud of Bloomington; nieces and nephews, Jeremy Yoke of Kettering, Ohio, Renae Yoke Seeley of Gilby, N.D., William, Mathew and Daniel Story, all of Centerville, Noel Terry of Bluffton, S.C., Brian Calkins of Indianapolis, Eric Calkins of Tennessee; and two great-nieces, Autumn and Megan Seeley of Gilby, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were November 3 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary in Richmond. Entombment followed at Earlham Mausoleum. Visitation was November 2 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
James Thomas Perry

James Thomas Perry, 80, of Knightstown, died November 13 at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Franklin, Va., a son of the late Mack Raymond and Lilly (Keeter) Perry.
Mr. Perry, who lived most of his life in Knightstown, married Pansy Jordon on Sept. 3, 1949. Long retired, he had worked for GTE as an electrician and engineer. He attended Greensboro United Methodist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 152 and Royal Hylands Golf Club. Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, James (wife, Glenda) Perry of Muncie and Remmy Perry of New Castle; three daughters, Pam Haase of Knightstown, Sandy “Doie” (husband, Richard) Crawford of Knightstown and Tammy (husband, Steve) Thompson of Cumberland; a sister, Annie Laurie Jackson of Portsmith, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Haase, Shannan (Haase) Chandler, Emily (Haase) Leakey, Josh Perry, Katie Perry, Drew Crawford, Lane Crawford, Pam Crawford and Ethan Perry; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Louise Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is Saturday, November 17, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Public Library or the Knightstown Optimist Club Little League program.
Wilma Jean Tague
June 19, 1928 – Nov. 11, 2007
Wilma Jean (Bird) Tague, 79, of Knightstown, died November 11 at her home.
She was born June 19, 1928, in Raysville, a daughter of the late Harry Deem and Minta (Riley) Bird.
Mrs. Tague spent much of her youth in Rush County. She graduated from Mays High School in 1946 and attended Earlham College. After college, she worked at Citizens National Bank in Knightstown and later spent several years working at the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis There, she worked on the first computers that used punch cards.
She married Gilbert C. “Jack” Tague, Jr., in 1949, and the couple resided in Raysville. Together, the couple owned and operated Jack’s Standard Service in Knightstown for nearly 30 years. In addition, Mrs. Tague operated a bookkeeping and tax service for several years.
Mrs. Tague was a member of Raysville Friends Church and the Indiana Society of Friends. Her grandfather, George W. Bird, was a Quaker minister, which greatly influenced her interest, studies of and long-time support of the Indiana Yearly Meeting.
An avid baseball fan, she grew up listening to Chicago Cubs games on the family radio. She later became a big Cincinnati Reds fan. An accomplished pianist who once performed at a Hinkle Fieldhouse recital, Mrs. Tague enjoyed playing holiday music with her family gathered around. She also enjoyed playing caroms, dominoes and could also play pitch and catch. She was known as someone who stressed the importance of education.
Survivors include three children, Teresa J. “Teddi” (husband, John) Jamison of Elkhart, Beth A. Gallien of Greenwood and Gilbert C. “Jack” (friend, Terri Manning) Tague III of Knightstown; four grandchildren, Brian (friend, Amanda Bailey) of Elkhart, Jill (fiance, Pat Walsh) Jamison of Dallas, Tx., Chad (fiance, Eleanor Booher) Gallien of Knightstown and Courtney Tague of Bloomington; a great-grandson, Leeland Gallien of Knightstown; a brother, George (wife, Pat) Bird of Rushville; and three sisters, Merilyn Elliott of Phoenix, Ariz.; Evelyn (husband, Gary) Thompson of Lafayette and Julia (husband, Larry) Lee of Oakville.
Funeral services are Friday, November 16, at 1:05 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Visitation is Thursday, November 15, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
