Barbara J. Lane

Barbara 1. Lane, 81, of Seymour, formerly of Cadiz, died August 23 at St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born August 11, 1926, in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Herman and Mildred (White) McLain.
Mrs. Lane was a Cadiz High School graduate. She was also a retired employee of Delco-Remy Corporation in Anderson. She was known as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking and looking after her family. She also enjoyed gardening and needlework.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Fugett of Seymour; three daughters, Stephanie Tumminello of Seymour, Cindi Wright of Greenfield and Patti (husband, Darrell) Dale of Evansville; six grandchildren, Amy Johnson of Greenfield, Stephanie M. Tumminello of Seymour, Heather Ann Fugett of Seymour, Joshua (wife, Andrea) Fugett of Seymour, Jason (wife, Breeanna) Wright of New Castle and Donald Fugett of Florida; six great-grandchildren, Dillon Michael Gregory of Greenfield, Jeremy Thomas Hunter Fugett of Southport, Darrek Fugett of Bedford, Jeana Fugett and Anna Lee Fugett, both of New York and (infant) Wright of New Castle; a sister, Fern Lapp of Chicago, III.; and a brother, Jim (wife, Lois) McLain of Muncie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion S. Lane; a son, Donald Fugett; three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were August 25 at the Main & Davis Funeral Home, Astor Main Blue River Chapel. Burial followed in the Springport Woodlawn Christian Cemetery in Springport. Visitation was August 25 at the funeral home.
Dorothy Lee Davis
Aug. 26, 1937 – Sept. 10, 2007
Dorothy Lee Davis, 70, of Kennard, formerly of Albany, Ky., died September 10 at her home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Albany, a daughter of the late Louis and Vena Ferguson.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff (wife, Dee) Davis and Dennis (wife, Jenny) Davis, both of Shirley.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Funeral and burial service arrangements are being handled by Talbot Funeral Home in Albany.
Charles L. Blankenship
June 14, 1913 – Sept. 7, 2007
Charles L. Blankenship, 94, of Carthage, died September 7 at Glen Oaks Health Care Center.
He was born June 14, 1913, in Rush County, a son of the late Isaac and Nellie Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship was a farmer who lived in the Carthage area most of his life. He graduated from Mays High School. He married his wife, Edna, on June 14, 1936. He was a member of East Street Christian Church in Carthage.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Joe Blankenship of Indianapolis and Terry Gene Blankenship of New Castle; a daughter, Mary Jane (husband, Jerry) Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a sister, Louise Clayborn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services were September 11 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. David Bonne officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was September 10 at the funeral home.
Bernice F. Holthouser
April 17, 1928 – Sept. 8, 2007
Bernice F. Holthouser, 79, of New Castle, died September 8 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born April 17, 1928, in Anderson, a daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (Rogers) Parlow.
Mrs. Holthouser attended Anderson High School and lived in Anderson until 1966. She moved to Shirley where she owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn Restaurant in Shirley 15 years. She was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ.
Survivors include four children, Deborah (husband, Scott) Castle of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Sharron (husband, Rob) Cottrell of Culleoka, Tenn., Henry Holthouser of Greensboro and Pam (husband, Jeff) Quinton of New Castle; 13 grandchildren, Charla Hobbs, Traci Gabbard, Micki Collins, Angie Bunch, Kelli Riley, Amanda Hill, Samuel Cottrell, Henry Holthouser, Jr., Nelson Holthouser, Hunter Holthouser, Marissa Holthouser, Amber McFarland and Ethan Quinton; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Holthouser, Sr.; a son, Gilbert Holthouser, Jr.,; a daughter, Sue Gabbard; two brothers, Robert and Samuel Parlow; and a sister, Betty Werner.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was September 11 at the funeral home.
Lonnie E. Cleek
April 11, 1949 – Sept. 6, 2007
Lonnie E. Cleek, 58, of Greensboro, died September 6 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born April 11, 1949, in McMinnville, Tenn., a son of Carl Leon and Louise (Nunley) Carnes.
Mr. Cleek was an award-winning and avid raccoon hunter, who was a member of AKC, UKC and PKC.
He worked at Chrysler Corporation for 33 years before retiring. Mr. Cleek had numerous friends, whom he held close and he enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (House) Cleek of Greensboro; three sons, Todd Aaron (wife, Debbie) Cleek of Greensboro, Lonnie Brent Cleek of Greensboro and Brandon Shane (wife, Michelle) Cleek of Kennard; four grandchildren, Ashley Kate Muir of Kennard, Zachary Aaron Cleek of Greensboro, Cory Lane Cleek of Kennard and Nicole Cleek of Greensboro; one step-grandchild, Haley Michelle Cruse of Kennard; three sisters, Kathern Gayle (husband, Billy) Lester of Spiceland, Phyllis Anne (husband, David) Knepley of Greensboro and Beverly Kay Cleek of Anderson; a brother, Russell Eugene Cleek of Cadiz; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father-in-law, Darrell House; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a special uncle, Cleston Cleek.
Funeral services were September 11 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Rudolph Nunley, Mort Radford and Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial followed in Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation was September 10 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Albert R. Emery
July 7, 1922 – Sept. 6, 2007
Albert R. Emery, 85, of Henry County, died September 6 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
He was born July 7, 1922, in Aurora, a son of the late William and Emma (Sparling) Emery.
Mr. Emery retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after 33 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers, Henry County Historical Society, Indianapolis American Legion and the Ninetieth Division Association. Mr. Emery was also a member of Cadiz Christian Church. He was a decorated World War II veteran of the 90th Infantry Division. Mr. Emery was involved in World War II’s Battle of the Bulge, Normandy invasion and he saw action in five other battles.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Emery of New Castle; a son, Ronald (wife, Teresa) Emery of Roanoke, Va.; two grandsons, Lucas Emery and Jason Emery; a granddaughter, Rachel Emery; a special brother-in-law and friend, William “Bill” Moon of Anderson; three brothers-in-law, Thomas Moon of Markleville, Kenneth Moon of Anderson and Charles Moon of Simi Valley, Cal.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Peters of Kennard and Betty Looper of Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Jackson Moon, Center Looper and George Peters.
Funeral services were September 8 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle with military graveside rites. Visitation was September 8 at the funeral home.
Donald P. Moore
Oct. 10, 1923 – Sept. 15, 2007
Donald P. Moore, 83, of Knightstown, died September 15 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
He was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Shelbyville, a daughter of the late Fred and Margarite (Goetz) Moore.
Mr. Moore lived in Knightstown most of his life. He married Wilma W. (Watts) Moore in 1960 and she preceded him in death in 1978. He retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he worked in office administration. Mr. Moore also managed Moore Tool Company and served as town judge in Knightstown for several years. He was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Eric D. (wife, Alicia) Moore of Lewisville; a daughter, Anna L. Blankenship of Indianapolis; a brother, Harold F. Moore of Knightstown; five grandchildren, David G. Moore, Sambra (husband, Jason) Jarvis, Branne Blankenship, Cameron Blankenship and Caden Blankenship; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 20, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Janice Heseman officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, at the funeral home.
