Nancy Alice Byrket

Nancy Alice Byrket, 74, of Knightstown, died Feb. 6 at her home.
She was born June 25, 1935, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Herman and Inez (Bradfield) Byrket.
Miss Byrket was a 1953 New Castle High School graduate, an avid reader and a movie buff. She enjoyed following figure skating, golf and tennis. She was also an avid Olympics fan. Survivors include two sisters, Doris Kinney of Knightstown and Claire Pryor of Clarksville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leon Byrket.
Graveside funeral services will take place at a later date.

Avanelle Collins
December 17, 1917 - March 9, 2010
Avanelle Collins, 92, formerly of Wilkinson and Anderson, died March 9 at Samara Memory Care in Indianapolis.
She was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Grant City, a daughter of the late Thaddeus and Merle (McKillip) Brumfield.
Mrs. Collins served as a bookkeeper at International Multi Food in Napoleon, Ohio, until her retirement in 1984. She was active at Napoleon Church of Christ. She was a lifelong home maker and was known as a loving wife and mother. She recently attended Wilkinson Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, George W. Collins, formerly of Wilkinson; two daughters, Pamela (husband, John) Riley of Carthage and Rhonda (husband, Bill) Shelton of Charlotte, N.C.; five grand children, Chris and Amanda Shelton, Breanna (husband, Nick) Bush, James (wife, Natalie) Riley, and John (wife, Amanda) Riley; and four great-grandchildren; Sarah and Hanna, Isabel and Irulan Riley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Brumfield; and a great-grandson, Phoenix Riley.
Funeral services were March 13 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Russ Lutes officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was March 12 at the funeral home.

Gordon E. Thomas
April 4, 1940 - February 27, 2010
Gordon E. "Gordy" Thomas, 69, of Shirley, died Feb. 27 at his home.
He was born April 4, 1940, in Greensboro, a son of the late Walter and Vivian Ilene (Davisson) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was co-owner of Karen’s Kreations in Shirley and a longtime employee of Brookside Corporation and Metals Technology. An avid sports fan, he coached pony league and Little League baseball in Knightstown and Shirley. He enjoyed listening to and supporting the Knightstown High School Band and was known as a loving father and proud grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Thomas of Shirley; a daughter, Janette (husband, Kenny) Cullison; and a grandson, Jacob Cullison of Kennard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryce Cullison; and his mother and father in-law, Verah and Charles Glisson.
Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Danny Tompkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation was March 2 at the funeral home.

Donald Roy Winkler
April 5, 1956 - February 27, 2010
Donald Roy Winkler, 53, of Indianapolis, died Feb. 27 at his home.
He was born April 5, 1956, in Indianapolis, a son of Roy and Donnie (Harty) Winkler.
Mr. Winkler was a charter member of the Old Bethel United Methodist Church’s special needs class in 1961. He joined activities at Noble of Indiana in 1961 and continued his participation there until recently.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Ronald Winkler; and several other relatives.
Funeral services were March 3 at Family Funeral Care in Indianapolis. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was March 2 at the funeral home.

John W. Taylor
June 6, 1924 - February 24, 2010
John W. Taylor, 85, of New Castle, died Feb. 24 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.
He was born June 6, 1924, in Wilkes County, N.C., a son of Samuel and Navadie (Hanes) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a 25-year member of the Mooreland Masonic Lodge, Indiana Bankers Association and a former board member for Henry County Memorial Hospital and the New Lisbon Phone Company. He retired from First United Bank of Henry County after 30 years of service. He previously attended First Presbyterian Church of New Castle. Mr. Taylor’s favorite hobby was farming.
Survivors include two children, Elizabeth Jane Taylor of Middletown and George (wife, Sheila) Taylor of New Castle; a sister, Ruth Walsh of North Carolina; a brother, L.B. (wife, Sue) Taylor of New Castle; grandchildren, Steven McKenzie (wife, Larissa) Taylor of Richmond, Nicole (husband, Mike) Davis of Fayetteville, N.C., James (wife, Angie) Hammond of Avon and Lori (husband, Wayne) Martt of Kentucky; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary (Hale) Taylor; his second wife, Jean Sorrell Taylor; a son, Stephen Lee Taylor; and two sisters, Pauline Walsh and Thelma Walters.
Funeral services were Feb. 27 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Thomas Current officiating. Burial followed at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation was Feb. 26 at the funeral home.

Debra Marie Logan
July 11, 1961 - March 2, 2010
Debra Marie (Miller) Logan, 48, of Knightstown, died March 2.
She was born July 11, 1961, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of William Albert and Betty Jane (Dawald) Miller.
Mrs. Logan was a 1980 Norwell (Ossian) High School graduate. She was employed as a shift supervisor at CVS in Knightstown, where she worked for the last six years. Mrs. Logan was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Logan of Knightstown; four children, Ryan Hawkins of Bluffton, Michael Hawkins of Bluffton, Abby Hawkins of Knightstown and Cory Speicher of Knightstown; her parents, William A. and Betty Jane Miller of Muncie; a sister, Billie (husband, Dennis) Newsome of Dunkirk; two nephews, Brett J. Meyer of Fort Wayne and Derek W. Meyer of Bluffton; and two nieces, Courtney Rickmeyer of Dunkirk and Chloe Newsome of Dunkirk.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Knightstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown.

Beulah M. Lord
November 14, 1924 - March 4, 2010
Beulah M. Lord, 85, of Rush County, died March 4 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Arlington, a daughter of the late Albert and Alta (Lee) Jordan.
Mrs. Lord was a 1942 Arlington High School graduate and a member of Center Christian Church. A homemaker, she was a member of the Amacitia Club, the Mays Study Club and Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Lynn Lord of Mays; a daughter, Linda K. (husband, John) Hall of Rushville; grandchildren, Jessica (husband, Steve) Rodgers, Chris Lord, Nichole (hus- band, Stuart) Linville, Tierney Hall and Shanneke (husband, John) Tague; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Noelle Hall.
Funeral services were March 8 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Bill Worrell officiating. Burial followed at Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation was March 8 at the funeral home.
