Edith M. Doll

Edith M. Doll, 90, of Dublin, died Jan. 12 at The Waters in Muncie.
She was born July 6, 1919, in Rush County, a daughter of the late Clem and Celia (Hunt) Chance.
Mrs. Doll was a lifelong area resident and a 1937 Knightstown High School graduate. She spent most of her youth with her foster mother, Lora Ankrom, of Dublin. Mrs. Doll attended Earlham College. She later was an active member of her community, serving on the Dublin Library Board. She is credited with cataloging the library’s book collection. After retiring from the grocery business, she worked as a secretary at a school in Dublin. She remained active in the community and her church, Hopewell Friends Meeting.
Survivors include four daughters, Eugenia Mills of Fairfield, Ohio, Mary Alice Cummings of Muncie, Martha Sborov of Pleasanton, Cal., and Ruth Ann Fields of Pershing; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Nora Minyard of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Doll; three brothers, Roscoe, Ora and Alcin Chance; and a sister, Ethel Leighton.
Funeral services were Jan. 30 at Hopewell Friends Meeting in Straughn. Burial followed at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home handled arrangements.

David C. Overman
April 11, 1915 - January 10, 2010
David C. Overman, 94, of Knightstown, died Jan. 10 in Bullhead City, Ariz.
He was born Apr. 11, 1915.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Sylvester of Greenfield; a granddaughter, Allyson Sheridan; and a grandson, Daniel of Ft. Myers, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; and a daughter, Judith.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Centers in Indianapolis.
James Robert Zinkan
February 21, 1933 - February 1, 2010
James Robert Zinkan, 76, of Knightstown, died Feb. 1 at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Vincennes, a son of the late Walter and Doris (Murphy) Zinkan.
Mr. Zinkan retired from Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center in Indianapolis in 1988 after 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served 1952-1956. Mr. Zinkan was a member of the Knightstown Lions Club, Optimist Club and American Legion Post 152. He was also a member of the Hoosier Gym committee, having been instrumental in the gym’s preservation. Mr. Zinkan was chosen as the Knightstown Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year in 1995. He was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown and was known as an avid angler and handyman.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Brines) Zinkan of Knightstown; four daughters, Lisa (husband, Steven Kopp) Zinkan of Martinez, Cal., Pamela (husband, John) Ottinger of Carthage, Katherine Paul of Knightstown and Diane (husband, Tony) Personett of Knightstown; grandchildren, Mike (wife, Laura) Ottinger, Sheri (hus band, Eric) Darling, Heather (husband, Wes) Wilburn, Lara Paul and Tucker and Paige Personett; great-grand children, Cora Gordon, Isaac Ottinger and Evan Darling; a brother, Gerald (wife, Lee) Zinkan of North Bend, Wash.; a niece, Lynn Zinkan; and a nephew, Larry Zinkan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Zinkan.
A funeral mass took place Feb. 5 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown with Father Joe Rautenburg and Sister Shirley Gerth officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Burial took place at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Feb. 4 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home in Knightstown.
William Harold Brown, Jr.
March 29, 1947 - February 6, 2010
William Harold Brown, Jr., 62, of Richmond, died Feb. 6 at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
He was born Marc 29, 1947, in Knightstown, a son of William Brown Sr., and Sarah (Parker) Brown.
Mr. Brown was a parts sorter at Greenacres. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his parents, William Brown Sr. and Sarah Brown of Knightstown; a brother, Richard P. Brown of Greenwood; a niece, Angie Fuller; a nephew, John Kenemer; and three cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Peter Zinn officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Patricia Ann Barnes
January 1, 1934 - February 6, 2010
Patricia Ann "Patty" Barnes, 76, of New Castle, died Feb. 6 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
She was born Jan. 1, 1934, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Vincent and Erma Lucille (Meeks) Peters.
A 1951 New Castle High School graduate, Mrs. Barnes was employed at Beall’s Clothing in New Castle for many years. She later owned and operated Patty’s Ladies Clothing in New Castle. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip C. Barnes of New Castle; three children, Valerie (husband, Bruce) Trump of Knightstown, Vanessa (husband, Frank) Lee of New Palestine and Todd (wife, Tracy) Barnes of Indianapolis; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Lee and Derrick Lee, Lauren Trump, Emma Barnes and Katherine Barnes.
Funeral services are at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation is 4 p.m. until time of services on Feb. 10 at the funeral home.

Joseph Myron Hood

Joseph Myron Hood, 82, of Indianapolis, died Feb. 5 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Rush County, a son of the late Anthony and Lena (Welch) Hood.
Mr. Hood was born in Gings, but lived most of his life in Indianapolis, where he served as an electrician for Moran Electric for over 30 years before retiring. He lived his post-retirement life in Mays and was a member of Center Christian Church. Mr. Hood was a member of IBEW #481, the Whitewater Railroad Assoc., Blue River Cruisers, Richmond Historic Museum, Indiana Live Steamers Assoc., and the Rushville Pioneer Engineers Club.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Hood of Indianapolis; three sons, Richard (wife, Peggy) of Winston Salem, N.C., Dave Hood of Indianapolis and Jeff Hood of Indianapolis; three daughters, Karen (husband, Dr. Creig) Lobdell of Springfield, Mo., Cathy Linder of Greenwood and Vickie (husband, Vern) Acton of Camby; two brothers, Roman (wife, Donna) Hood of Rushville and Eddie (wife, Martha) Hood of Rushville; two sisters, Mary Hartsler of Rushville and Roberta Rebiskie of Alma, Kan.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. Jeremy Lobdell and Joshua Lobdell officiating. Burial will follow at Center Church Cemetery in Mays. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home.
Gilbert L. Hutson
May 2, 1937 - February 13, 2010
Gilbert L. Hutson, 72, of Knightstown, died Feb. 13 at Methodist Hospital Hospice in Indianapolis.
He was born May 2, 1937, a son of the late Clifford and Rhea (Ellis) Hutson.
Mr. Hutson was a 1955 Knightstown High School graduate. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975. He also retired from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources in 1995. Mr. Hutson was a member of Greensboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Hutson of Knightstown; two sons, Chuck (wife, Shirley) Hutson of Knightstown and Rick Hutson of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Erica (husband, Andy) York of Knightstown and Jessica Hutson of Knightstown; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Brayton Hutson of Knightstown; several step-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (wife, Sharon) Hutson of North Port, Fla.; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Hutson.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Revs. Ruth Waite and Bill House officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
