William Addison

William “Dave” Addison, 81, died January 14 at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1925, a son of the late Walter and Martha (Orr) Addison.
Mr. Addison was a farmer for many years and he owned a steel yard in Charlottesville before retiring in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was discharged in 1946.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, June (Wilson) Addison; two sons, Dwight (wife, Phyllis) Addison and Douglas (wife, Teressa) Addison; a daughter, Carol (husband, Gary) Wright; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. January 18 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Gary Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, at the funeral home.
Frieda Mae Gulley
Feb. 23, 1942 – Jan. 10, 2007
Frieda Mae (Goodwin) Gulley, 64, died January 10 at Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield.
She was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Kleemon O. and Edna Lee (White) Goodwin.
Mrs. Gulley worked for Betty Monday’s Flower Shop in Anderson as a flower arranger for many years. She retired in 1992. She also worked for Jacwil Casket Factory in Knightstown where she served as head of sewing. Mrs. Gulley was an organist at Truth Apostolic Tabernacle in Knightstown where she was a member.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia A. Johnson of Ward, Ark., and Carla Coen of Shelbyville; two brothers, Bill Gregory of Alexandria and Melvin Goodwin of Fairfield, Cal.; two sisters, Patricia Mills of Nashua, N.H., and Virginia Cave of Lady Lake, Fla.; four grandchildren, Melissa, Jacqueline, Chad and Dillon; and a great-grandson, Matthew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland “Bud” Goodwin and Delbert Alexander.
Funeral services were January 14 at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with Pastor Billy G. Lambert officiating. Private burial took place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation was one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions, aimed at helping offset funeral expenses, are being accepted at Erlewein Mortuaries, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
Sue Ann Siemens
Oct. 6, 1945 – Jan. 21, 2007
Sue Ann (Siler) Siemens, 61, of Rushville, died January 21 at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville.
She was born Oct. 6, 1945, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late John Russell and Evelyn Marie (Carson) Siler.
Mrs. Siemens was a 1963 Carthage High School graduate. She later attended Indiana State University where, in 1979, she earned a BA degree in family economics and home management. Mrs. Siemens worked as a bookkeeper at the Social Security Administration. She also worked at Bank of America. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority and Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Siemens of Texas and Andrew Siemens of Washington; a sister, Karen (husband, Ken) Morrison of Great Falls, Mt.; a brother, Gary (wife, Sue) Siler of Rushville; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, January 27, at 11 a.m. at Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage with Pastor Robert Campbell officiating. Private burial services will be held. Frances Chase
Mar. 4, 1916 – Jan. 14, 2007
Frances Gentry Fillingim Chase, 90, of Sulphur Springs, Tx., died January 14.
She was born Mar. 4, 1916, in New Harmony, a daughter of the late Menzies “Pat” Fillingim and Grace Irene Gentry.
Mrs. Chase moved to Indianapolis in the 1920s and graduated from Shortridge High School’s Class of 1934. For a time, she worked in L.S. Ayres’ furniture and fine jewelry departments. She married Samuel Moore Chase of Gary in a 1936 double-ring ceremony at The Athenaeum, along with her sister, Mary Jane Fillingim, who married Dr. Harry Hutto. Frances and Sam met in the early 1930s at Lake Manitou and later at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, where he served as lead clarinet and vocalist in the Herbie Kay dance band.
While her husband served as business administrator, Mrs. Chase served as administrator of activities and dietician for over 20 years at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in Knightstown. The couple resided there and later moved to Knightstown. Prior to retirement, she worked as social director at the Indiana Teacher’s Retirement Home in Greenwood. The couple later moved to Columbia, S.C., Atlanta, Ga., and, finally, Sulphur Springs, Tx., to be near their children.
Mrs. Chase was an avid reader and was a member of Shakespeare Club and Tri Kappa sorority, both in Knightstown. Her hobbies included genealogy, bird watching, gardening and playing bridge with her family. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Knightstown and Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Moore (wife, Nancy) Chase, Jr., of Marietta, Ga., and Patrick Fillingim (wife, Patricia) Chase of Sulphur Springs, Ga.; five grandchildren, Menzie Chase (wife, Noel) Campbell of Conway, Az., Carrie Chase (husband, Steven) Nuckolls of Sulphur Springs, Tx., Samuel Moore (wife, Caroline) Chase, III, of Houston, Tx., Andrew Patrick Chase of Marietta, Ga., and Molly Grace Chase of Sulphur Springs, Tx.; two great-grandchildren, Chase Mead Berry of Sulphur Springs, Tx., and Samuel Moore Chase, IV, of Houston, Tx.; nieces and nephews, Mrs. William H. Hutto, Jr., John Mahlon (wife, Joan) Hutto, David Patrick (wife, Jeanie) Hutto, James Omer (wife, Effie) Hutto, Karl (wife, Sue) Snepp, Clara Snepp (husband, Clifford) Vogt; and many friends and relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Samuel Moore Chase, who died in September 2005; and a sister, Mary Jane Fillingim Hutto.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, at Crown Hill Cemetery, Historic Gothic Chapel, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis. A scholarship fund has been established in the name of Frances Chase through the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home Alumni Association. Marjorie L. Grass
Sept. 22, 1917 – Jan. 20, 2007
Marjorie L. Grass, 89, of Wilkinson, died January 20 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Warrington, a daughter of the late Floyd and Bessie (Langin) Delph.
Mrs. Grass lived her entire life in the Wilkinson community, except for the past year which she spent with her son in Greenfield. She retired from Eastern Hancock School Corporation where she worked as a custodian. Mrs. Grass was a 1935 Wilkinson High School graduate and was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, Golden Merrymakers and the Lilac Club. She married Merle Grass in Shirley in 1937. An avid sports fan, she will be remembered for her cooking.
Survivors include a son, Randy (wife, Judy) Grass of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Shawn Grass of Greenfield, Kristi Smith of Indianapolis, Kerry Grass of Greenfield and Mark Grass of Shirley; six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsey, Jacob and Jesse Grass and Kayden and Xander Smith; and one brother, Jack Delph of Wilkinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Grass in 1975; and two sons, Monte and Malcolm Grass.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. January 24 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Shirley with Jim Jackson officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was January 23 at the funeral home.
Mary Jo Yarling
Dec. 6, 1936 – Jan. 17, 2007
Mary Jo “Bo” Yarling, 70, of Shelbyville, died January 17 at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Charlottesville, a daughter of the late John L. and Helen G. (Sparks) Herkless.
Survivors include a son, John Pike of Knightstown; four daughters, Chris (husband, Paul) Schlieper of Wexford, Penn., Brandi (husband, Dean) Mock of Shelbyville, Mitzi Dunagan of Shelbyville and Teia (husband, Mike) Hanblin of Shelbyville; and six grandchildren, Lauren, Alyson and Paul Schlieper and Christyna, Richard and Shelbie Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Herkless.
Funeral services were January 20 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service in Shelbyville. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was January 19 at the funeral home.
David Eugene Langley
Feb. 11, 1947 – Jan. 10, 2007
David Eugene Langley, 57, died January 10 at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana, Ky.
He was born Feb. 11, 1947 in New Castle, a son of the late John and Evelyn (Wagner) Langley.
Mr. Langley was a Knightstown and New Castle resident throughout his life. He was a 1967 Knightstown High School graduate. On Sept. 18, 1981, he married Judy Ann Smith at Memorial Park in New Castle. Mr. Langley worked for some time at a chrome factory in Mays. He retired from Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Indianapolis in 2004. Mr. Langley enjoyed gardening, fishing, the outdoors and his dog, Sam.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Langley of Wilkinson; a son, Brad (wife, Jenne) Langley; two daughters, Amy (husband, Mark) Marteen, Jennifer Harbison and seven grandchildren, all of Amelia, Ohio; a brother, Dennis (wife, Rhonda) Langley of Shirley; and a sister, Judith (husband, Jeffry) May of Stamping Ground, Ky.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Langley was cremated and his ashes were interred on January 17 at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
