Elizabeth Judge Condo

Elizabeth Judge Condo, 85, of Wilkinson, died Saturday, May 20, at Brandywine Manor Nursing Home in Greenfield.
She was born July 26, 1920, in Shirley, a daughter of the late Orville and Nona (Courtney) Judge.
Mrs. Condo was co-owner of Condo & Son Funeral Home and Ambulance Service and co-owner of Condo Farms. She was a member of Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church and the Shirley Order of the Eastern Star #492. She was a charter member of the Lilac Literary Club. Mrs. Condo was a graduate of Wilkinson High School and a past board member of the Hancock Memorial Hospital Foundation. She was an avid euchre player who enjoy the friendship of many people in surrounding communities.
Survivors include a son, George (wife, Amy) Condo of Wilkinson; a granddaughter, Susan (husband, David) Stillinger; a grandson, Harold Condo; two great-grandsons, Joshua and Jordan Stillinger of Wilkinson; two nephews, Richard (wife, Carolyn) Hanna of Shirley and Myron (wife, Cathy) Hanna of Crawfordsville; a niece, Annalee (husband, Bill) Bennett of Wilkinson; a son-in-law, Donald E. Rigney of Greenfield; and special family, Bob and Carol Applegate of Wilkinson.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Yetter, Jr.; a second husband, Harold E. Condo; a daughter, Georgeanna Rigney; and a sister, Thelma Hanna.
Funeral services and Eastern Star services were at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Jeff Mair officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Tuesday, May 23. Memorial contributions may be made to Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church or Shirley Order of the Eastern Star #492.
Stephen Douglas Steward
May 9, 2006 – May 10, 2006
Stephen Douglas Steward, infant son of Charles Steward and Ashley Wilhelm of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, May 10, at St. Vincent’s Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Tuesday, May 9, in Greenfield.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Linda Prater Michael of Spiceland, John (wife, Nancy) Seyfferle of Shirley, Anna Hicks and Charles Peters of Charlottesville and Thomas Hicks of Spiceland; great-grandparents, Mabel Shelley of Rushville, Linda Prater of Spiceland, Donna Wilhelm of Greenfield, John and Betty Seyfferle of Knightstown, Tom and Sharon Nelson of Charlottesville and Norman Manning of Spiceland; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Stephen Steward.
Funeral services were Monday, May 15, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Monday, May 15, at the funeral home.
Orville C. Upchurch
Feb. 15, 1920 – May 15, 2006
Orville C. Upchurch, 86, of Lewisville, died Monday, May 15, at the Waters Nursing Home in New Castle.
He was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Armathwaite, Tenn., a son of the late Merch and Arra (Dishman) Upchurch.
Mr. Upchurch was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Formerly of New Castle, he lived in Lewisville for the last 29 years. Mr. Upchurch retired from Chrysler in New Castle where he worked from 1947-1981. He was a member of UAW Local 371. He enjoyed listening to his police scanner, having rummage sales and tending his garden.
Survivors include six children, Jim Upchurch of Muncie, Darlene (husband, Larry) Thompson, Connie (husband, Ed) Privett, Jeff (wife, Rebecca) Upchurch, and Lois (husband, Jeff) Herbert, all of New Castle and Orville Jay (wife, Angelia) Upchurch of Cambridge City; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Corene Cargile of New Castle and Atha Bridgeman of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Len Upchurch in December 2004; a grandson, John Upchurch in 1992; a brother, Gleason Upchurch; one sister, Vena Denney; and an infant brother, Oneal.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with Rev. Arthur Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, May 16, and prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
Ramona L. Sorrell
Dec. 23, 1928 – Dec. 30, 2006
Ramona L. Sorrell, 78, of Indianapolis, formerly of Knightstown, died December 30 at Brandywine Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Concord, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Evans) Grigson.
Mrs. Sorrell was a seamstress at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ children’s Home and a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Roddy (wife, Missy) Sorrell of New Jersey, Jeff (wife, Jeannie) Sorrell of Carthage and Charles (wife, Cindy) Sorrell of Brownsburg; a daughter, Gwen VanDuyn of Indianapolis; a sister, Iris Scheibler of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Sorrell; a brother, Milford Grigson; and a sister, Eunice Wesko.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Steve Brackney officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Knightstown United Methodist Church.
Shirley Marlene Forshey
Feb. 17, 1939 – Dec. 30, 2006
Shirley Marlene Pate Forshey, 67, of Greenfield died December 30 in Knoxville, Tenn.
She was born Feb. 17, 1939, in Knoxville.
Mrs. Forshey was a homemaker. She was known as a wonderful mother and was well-respected by her friends.
Survivors include her husband, Donald “Sarge” Barlow; eight sons, William, Leo, Roy, Michael, Kenneth, Daniel and David Campbell and John Forshey; two daughters, Violet Winters and Marcella Walker; a sister, Carol Kinsey; a brother, Roy Pate; 34 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3 at G.H. Herrmann S. East Street Funeral Home in Indianapolis. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation was January 2.
Brenda S. Rochester
Sept. 18, 1953 – Dec. 27, 2006
Brenda S. Rochester, 53, of Syracuse, died December 27 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Milford.
She was born Sept. 18, 1953 in Scottsburg, a daughter of the late Fred Smith and Lois (Bunch) Smith.
Mrs. Rochester lived in the Syracuse area all her life and was employed at Homecrest in Goshen. In 2000, she married Ollie B. Rochester.
Survivors include her mother, Lois Smith of Knightstown; a daughter, Kelly (husband, Russ) Justice of Silver Lake; a son, Aric (wife, Christy) Dewees of Silver Lake; three sisters, Peggy (husband, Donnie) Stephens of Carthage, Mary Jones of Knightstown and Mildred (husband, Jim) White of Spiceland; five brothers, Herbie (wife, Sharon) Smith of Syracuse, Allen (wife, Sue) Smith of Milroy, Carl (wife, Irene) Smith of Greenfield, David (wife, Patty) Smith of Knightstown and James (wife, Evelyn) Smith of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Tristan and Kelsey Justice.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were January 2 at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford with Pastor Jonathan Light officiating. Burial followed at Syracuse Cemetery. Visitation was January 1 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
John Charles David Cruse
Jan. 9, 1950 – Dec. 27, 2006
John Charles David Cruse, 56, of Alexandria, formerly of Metamora, died December 27 at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1950 in Batesville, a son of the late Clarence John and Geraldine Ann (Bunyard) Cruse.
Mr. Cruse attended Metamora Elementary School and graduated from Laurel High School in 1968. He later joined the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Fox and the U.S.S. Hornet during the Vietnam War. Mr. Cruse was honorably discharged in 1979, having earned the rank of IC2. While in the Navy, he was trained as an electrician. Upon Mr. Cruse’s discharge he worked throughout the United States as an electrician for many years. He retired in 2004 and moved to Alexandria. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include nine brothers and sisters, Connie (husband, James) Wendel of Milroy, Karen (husband, Jake) Baker of Connersville, Cathie (husband, Bob) Fischer of Connersville, Nonie (husband, Vaughn) Fields of Knightstown, Amy (husband, Dennis) Asay of Lafayette, Tenn., Julie (husband, Kerry) of Blanchester, Ohio, Daniel Cruse of Connersville, James (wife, Christina) Cruse of Connersville, and Valerie (husband, Randy) Tarrance of Elwood; 21 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Charles Cruse.
Funeral services were December 30 at Miller Moster Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville. Burial, with military graveside rites provided by Fayette County Veterans’ Honor Council Guard, followed in Dale Cemetery in Connersville. Visitation was December 29 at the funeral home.
