Miriam L. Miksch

Miriam L. (McKnight) Miksch, 72, of Limerick, Pa., died Friday, Oct. 7, at Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pa.
She was born in Wilkinson on Oct. 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Roy A. and Mildren E. (Lowe) McKnight.
Mrs. Miksch was the wife of John E. “Jack” Miksch for 40 years. She served as an office clerk, retiring in 1996 from Genuardi Supermarkets. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Morning Light Chapter #312 in Hatboro, Pa. Mrs. Miksch enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidery, camping and trips to casinos.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Timothy (wife, Robin) Rhoades of Vestal, N.Y.; two daughters, Pamela (husband, Scott) Bishop of Lansdale, Pa., and Deborah (husband, David) Emery of Sanatoga, Pa.; two step-children, Jody Stork and John E. Miksch, both of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were October 11 at Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home in East Norriton, Pa. Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery in West Norriton Township, Pa.

Elmer McMichael, Jr.
June 24, 1925 – Dec. 20, 2005
Elmer McMichael, Jr., 80, of Rushville, died Dec. 20 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville.
He was born June 24, 1925, in Rush County, the son of the late Elmer McMichael, Sr., and Julia (Gahimer) McMichael.
Mr. McMichael married Martha N. Small on Aug. 24, 1949. He lived most of his life in Rush County. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1943. Mr. McMichael was a farmer and also worked in the foundry at the Dana Corporation. He retired from there after 15 years of service. After retirement, he drilled gas wells with Walter McMichael for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Max Allen McMichael of Suffolk, Va.; a daughter, Melissa Jane (husband, Donald) Wall of Arlington; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Revs. Doug Wall and Wesley Jones officiating. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home. Burial followed funeral services in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Association or the Rush County Cancer Society via the Rush County Community Foundation.
Melody Rose Lain Cully
Sept. 31, 1932 – Dec. 24, 2005
Melody Rose Lain Cully, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Heritage House Nursing Home in New Castle.
She was born in Shirley on Sept. 31, 1932, a daughter of the late Moses Lain and Maudeline Bolen Lain Ashby Lowe.
Mrs. Cully was a 1950 graduate of Kennard High School. She made her home in Columbus for many years, where she was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. After moving back to Shirley, she worked at Beverly’s Flower Shop and sold Stanley Home Products and Avon.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Tingle of Kentucky; five half-brothers, Rex, Steve and Gale Ashby, and Robert and Charles Lain; nine half-sisters, Martha Sears, Priscilla Knapp, Sue Davis, Margaret James, Wanda Miller, Marjorie Robertson, Marilyn Myers, Rosemary Scholar and Pauline Southerland; her step-mother, Dorothy Lain; and a special friend, Robin Eytchison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bob Broshears; and her second husband, Bob Cully.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, Estell Chapel, in Shirley with Pastor Gale Ashby officiating. Visitation preceded funeral services at the funeral home. Burial followed in Harlan Cemetery in Wilkinson.
Joan “Joanie” Brumfiel
July 14, 1928 – Dec. 24, 2005
Joan “Joanie” Brumfiel, 77, died on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005.
She was born in Butler County, Kan., on July 14, 1928, a daughter of the late Vernon L. and Echo (Harris) Wainscott.
Mrs. Brumfiel was a 1946 graduate of New Castle High School who lived and worked most of her life in Henry County. She worked as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell and was a bookkeeper for Henry County Office Supply, World Bestos, Joe Jackson Siding and Paul’s Oil Company in Knightstown. She enjoyed meeting with Ma Belle’s, a group of retirees. Mrs. Brumfiel attended Broad Street Alliance Church and recently had been attending Westview Church of the Nazarene. She was known for her love, smiles, fond memories and a special recipe for cinnamon pudding.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. Special friends included Dale and Stacy Habenthal of Saratoga.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer K. Wilt, Jr.; and two nieces.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Westview Church of the Nazarene with Revs. Paul Riddle, Frank Voss and Norwood Krueziner officiating. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
Jewell Mofield
April 16, 1937 – Dec. 23, 2005
Jewell Mofield, 68, of Marion, Ohio, formerly of New Castle, died Friday, Dec. 23, at Marion (Ohio) General Hospital.
She was born April 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Oris and Angie (McGowen) Gosser.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Mofield; three sons, Joe Tafner of Indinapolis, Ferrell Tafner of New York, and Harold Tafner of Texas; a daughter, Valerie Matthews of Arizona; a step-daughter, Kara Lukens of Knightstown; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Gray of Fort Wayne, and Irene Vincent of Wilkinson; and a brother, Edgar Gosser of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Angela Jones; and a brother, Ralph Lee Gosser.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with Mick Saunders officiating. Visitation was 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29.Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery.
Jerry W. Dupke
March 11, 1955 – Dec. 26, 2005
Jerry W. Dupke, 50, of Shirley, died Monday, Dec. 26, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born March 11, 1955 in New Castle, a son of the late H. Blaine and Lillian L. (Hicks) Dupke.
Mr. Dupke worked at Metals Technology in Shirley for 27 years, spending time in the molding and injection departments. He also worked at Beverly’s Flower Shop for several years. A devoted Christian, Mr. Dupke was a member of Middletown Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds. A fan of Nascar racing, he supported driver Mark Martin. Mr. Dupke was honored several times for being a faithful booster for the Shenandoah High School Raiders. A devoted husband and father, his family was a part of everything he did. People came from all over to see his outdoor Christmas display.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Cheryl (Badgley) Dupke of Shirley; a son, Joshua; a daughter, Julie (fiance, Dustin Summers); a sister, Marla (husband, Tom) Kemerly of Shirley; a brother, Gary (wife, Merry) of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; 11 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Dolores Badgley; sister-in-law, Sharon Dupke; brothers-in-law, Joseph (wife, Pam) Badgley, and Randy (wife, Debbie) Badgley.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Reg Dupke; a niece, his father-in-law, Richard Badgley; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Condo & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Phil Rogers and Rev. Kenneth Foust officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Middletown Church of the Nazarene Building Fund or Youth Program, P.O. Verah D. Glisson
Oct. 1, 1923 – Dec. 20, 2005
Verah D. (Kyser) Glisson, 82, of Shirley, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Regency Place in Greenfield.
She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in rural Charlottesville, a daughter of the late Everett, Sr., and Mary (Bash) Kyser.
Mrs. Glisson was a 1941 graduate of Westland High School. She served as president of the Shirley Grade School PTA and was a 50-year member of Shirley Eastern Star #492. Mrs. Glisson was also a member of Shirley Christian Church, Ingalls Church of God and Shirley War Mothers. A lover of hobbies and crafts, she retired from Estell’s Flower Shop in 1976.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (husband, Gordon) Thomas of Shirley, and Melinda (husband, Dan) Tompkins of Anderson; a son, Jerry (wife, Marilyn) Glisson of Shirley; five grandchildren, Janette Cullison, Brian Tompkins, Kerry Glisson, Michelle Tompkins and Chip Glisson; three great-grandchildren, Jake Cullison, Amy Tompkins and Jackson Tompkins; a brother, Everett Kyser, Jr.; a sister, Mary Carolyn Galliher; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charless Glisson, in 2002; two great-grandsons, Bryce Cullison and Wyatt Tompkins; and a sister, Leah Wicker.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, at Condo & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemeter in Wilkinson.
