Abigail Bella Rose Gonzalez, infant daughter of Kristina R. (Gonzalez) Harry of New Castle and Aaron A. Wells of Connersville, died shortly after birth on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at St. Vincent’s Womens Hospital in Indianapolis.
Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents, R.J. and Daphne Rose Wade of New Castle; paternal great great grandmother, Lula Bell Wells of Connersville; paternal great grandfather, Willie Wells of Connersville; Godmother, Misty May Parrott of Connersville; God Grandmother, Lovina Susie May of Connersville; two cousins, Sarah Elizabeth Moore of Milton, Ajeya Shilee Lone of Milton; one aunt, Shelia Lone of Milton; a special friend, Erica Doub of Connersville; several aunts, uncles and friends.
She was preceded in death by one aunt, Elizabeth Ann Bransum, who died Aug. 11, 1986, and a cousin, Skyla Raine, who died Sept. 1, 2000.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Mark Martin of South Memorial Church of God officiating. A motorcycle procession will lead the funeral service to Green Hills Memory Gardens where burial will take place following funeral services. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Shepherd’s Door Food Pantry with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Joe Dishman
Oct. 3, 1913 – Nov. 15, 2005
Joe “Vade” “Friday” Dishman, 92, of Lewisville, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Monticello, Ky., on Oct. 3, 1913, a son of the late Joseph and America Dishman.
Mr. Dishman was a farmer and lived in the Lewisville area for the past 68 years. He was a meat cutter and retired from Rose City Packing House in 1970 after 40 years of service. Mr. Dishman served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon. He was a member of the Lewisville Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. He loved farming, a trade he shared with his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also an avid gardener, Mr. Dishman enjoyed selling his sweet corn from his home’s front porch. Said to have never met a stranger, he enjoyed talking with his friends and neighbors. He was also Bluegrass music enthusiast.
Survivors include his son, Joe (wife, Judy) Dishman of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Angie and Larry Reamer, Heather and Chris Ingenito, Trent and Katrina Dishman, Brandon and Holly Dishman; great grandchildren, Danielle, Haley and Braden Reamer, Alyssa Andrew, Lindsay and Jackson Ingenito, Kylie, Vade, Vance, Madelyn and Landon Dishman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Lillian (Davis) Dishman, whom he married in Greenfield on Dec. 31, 1938; two great grandchildren, Reilly Ingenito and Laurel Reamer; a brother, Shelby Buzz Dishman; two sisters, Fleecy Marsh and Ona Hudson; an infant brother, Melvin Dishman.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with Chaplain Robert Shaeffer officiating. Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation was 2-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, and prior to funeral services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Dishman received full military honor guard services compliments of the New Castle American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewisville Presbyterian Church.
Lawrence O. Bundy
Nov. 7, 1907 – Nov. 24, 2005
Lawrence O. Bundy, 98, a Heritage House of New Castle, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
He was born Nov. 7, 1907, in Charlottesville, a son of the late Wilson and Susie (Anderson) Bundy.
Mr. Bundy was a self-employed carpenter, who lived in Knightstown most of his life. He was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church. He married Thelma V. Stephens on Sept. 23, 1944 and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sue (husband, Kenneth) Buckley of Knightstown; one grandson, Mark (wife, Tina) Buckley of Knightstown; two great grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Buckley; and two step-grandchildren, A.J. and Kelsie Robinson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bundy was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Todd Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Brackney officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was from 12-2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.
Alice Mary Garlach
May 3, 1917 – Nov. 26, 2005
Mary Alice (Reuter) Garlach, 88, formerly of Hebron, died Saturday, Nov. 26, at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood.
She was born May 3, 1917, in Manitowoc, Wisc., a daughter of the late Fred and Barbara (Thomas) Reuter. On Feb. 4, 1935, she married Leroy J. Garlach, who died on May 1, 1989.
Mrs. Garlach was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Moore of Knightstown, and Marlynn Glenn of Lake Station; three sons, Byron Garlach of Greenwood, Wisc., Marshall Garlach of Crown Point, and Jerrone Garlach of Portage; two sisters, Barbara Simmons and Violet Combe, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; three brothers, Arthur Reuter and Gene Reuter, both of Fort Myers, Fla., and Edward Reuter of Chicago, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services are at 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown.
Arrangements are being handled by Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
Gerald “Richard" Pitts
May 26, 1933 – Nov. 26, 2005
Gerald “Richard” Pitts, 72, of Knightstown, died Saturday, Nov. 26, at Regency Place in Greenfield.
He was born May 26, 1933, in Knightstown, a son of the late Allie and Endie (Morrison) Pitts.
A lifelong resident of Knightstown, Mr. Pitts was a Knightstown High School graduate. He was a United State Army veteran having served in Germany. He retired from Delco-Remy Corporation in Anderson in 1982 after 30 years of service. Mr. Pitts was a member of American Legion Post 152 and he enjoyed horse racing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda (husband, Frank) Young of Scottsville, Ky.; a son, David (wife, Susan) Pitts of Lancaster, Ky.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step-grandsons; eight brothers and sisters, Jewell (husband, Selbert) Braden of Anderson, Floyd Eugene (wife, Mary) Pitts of Carthage, Harold (wife, Carolyn) Pitts of Knightstown, Leonard (wife, Jo Ellen) Pitts of Dunreith, Betty Kise of Knightstown, Mildred (husband, Larry) Houser and Judy (husband, Henry) Neal, both of New Castle, and Dale Wayne, Sr., (wife, Jackie) Pitts of Rushville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tom Kise; and a sister-in-law, Louise Pitts.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Charles Dugger officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Military rites were conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Romey J. Hilderbrand
June 2, 1931 – Nov. 24, 2005
Romey J. Hilderbrand, 74, of Carthage, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at his home.
He was born June 2, 1931 in Olive Hill, Ky., a son of the late John H. and Bessie M. (Henderson) Hilderbrand.
Mr. Hilderbrand retired from Carthage Container Corporation after 19 years of service and was later a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Carthage and he loved to fish and spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vada O. (Butler) Hilderbrand of Carthage; two sons, Steven J. (friend, Dawn Cooper) Hilderbrand of Carthage, B. Scott (wife, Michelle) Hilderbrand of Carthage; three daughters, Joan (husband, Steve) Dick of Carthage, Jeannie (husband, Jeff) Sorrell of Carthage, Connie (husband, Larry) Rumple of Knightstown; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Hilderbrand of Olive Hill, Ky., Leronis Hilderbrand of Talulu, La.; three sisters, Vesta Ellison of Kennard, Bethel Loftis of Gordon, W. Va., and Opal Rayburn of Olive Hill, Ky.
Mr. Hilderbrand was preceded in death by six brothers, Lester, Luther, Clesta, Lovene, Archie and Artest Hilderbrand; and three sisters, Olive Ellison, Martha Riley and Alma Hamm.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Dave Gates and Harold Smith officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesleyan Church in Carthage.
Naomi Ruth Hewson
April 10, 1925 – Nov. 24, 2005
Naomi Ruth (Lewman) Hewson, 80, of Charlottesville, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson.
She was born April 10, 1925 in Grant City, a daughter of the late Samuel and Virgie (Planck) Lewman.
Earlier in her life, Mrs. Hewson did practical nursing. She was also a member of Nameless Creek Christian Church and the Women’s Circle.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (husband, Kerry) Barnard of Wilkinson; two sisters, Mildred (husband, John) Stillwell of New Castle, Wanda (husband, Glen) Walker of Rushville; one brother, Hollis (wife, Lucille) Lewman of Markleville; two grandchildren, Kyle (wife, Natalie) Barnard of North Manchester, and Karman (husband, Eric) Williams of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell C. Hewson; and four brothers, Curtis, Joseph, Ralph and David Lewman.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Ron Baker officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home.
