John C. Adams

John C. Adams, 55, of Seymour, formerly of Knightstown, died Tuesday, September 20. He was born June 26, 1950, in New Castle, son of the late Junior and Evelyn Adams.
Mr. Adams was a graduate of Knightstown High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife Karen of Seymour; a son, Chris Adams of Cleveland, Tenn.; a daughter, Alisha Adams of Seymour; two brothers, Alan (wife Victoria) Adams of Rushville and Gary Adams of Noblesville; two sisters, Cheryl Lynne Adams of Pendleton and Cathy Crabtree of New Castle; an aunt, Norma Smith of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Cornerstone Community Church on Friday, September 23, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Hartley officiating. Voss & Sons Funeral Home, Seymour, was in charge of the arrangements.
Tim R. Stigall
June 30, 1971 – Sept. 24, 2005
Tim R. Stigall, 34, of New Castle, died Saturday, September 24, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born June 30, 1971, in Muncie, son of Linda Stigall and the late Jerry Stigall.
Mr. Stigall was a 1989 graduate of Wapahani High School. In high school, he lettered in track, cross country, basketball and baseball. He also graduated from Ivy Tech , Indianapolis. He was employed as a journeyman electrician foreman by Technology Electric, Indianapolis. Mr. Stigall was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #1047. He was former coach of the Blue River Valley Optimist Little League, T-Ball and All-Star teams. Mr. Stigall, an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities with his family. He was a devoted husband and father.
Mr. Stigall married Kim Spoonmore on December 24, 1992, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Breanna Michelle Stigall and Allisha Marie Stigall, of New Castle; one son, Cory Ray Stigall of New Castle; his mother, Linda (Garza) Stigall of Muncie; one brother, Jason T. Stigall of Debary, Fla.; one niece, Sierra Stigall; two uncles; several aunts; and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and one sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 1, at Main-Frame & Davis Funeral Home, Astor Main Blue River Chapel, SR 36, with Sister Shirley Girth officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
James F. Sorrell
Oct. 30, 1935 – Sept. 29, 2005
James F. Sorrell, 69, of Knightstown, died Thursday, Sept. 29, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Dunreith, a son of the late William Christy Sorrell and Helen (Watt) Sorrell.
Mr. Sorrell served on the Knightstown Police Department for 16 years before retiring. He was also a retired truck driver. He was a member of Oaklandon Christian Church, Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and the Knightstown Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his mother, Helen L. Sorrell of Knighstown; two sons, John Sorrell of Knightstown, and James Daniel Sorrell of Kentucky; three daughters, Mary Kathyrn Spears of South Carolina, Roberta Jane Sorrell of Knightstown, and Angela Nicole Sorrell of Miami, Fla.; two stepsons, James F. Craig of Carthage, and David Peck of Knightstown; a sister, Christie Jarrett of Knightstown; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Sorrell was preceded in death by his father, a daughter and a brother.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Knightstown Christian Church with Rev. Mark Watkins officiating. There was no public visitation. Burial took place at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Arrangements were handled by Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown.
Lillian Davis Dishman
Dec. 6, 1918 – Sept. 28, 2005
Lillian Davis Dishman, 86, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle. She was born in New Castle o Dec. 6, 1918, a daughter of the late William Issac and Anna Elizabeth Dishman.
A lifelong Henry County resident, Mr. Dishman worked at Chrysler in New Castle during World War II and at the Rose City Meat Packing House for 18 years. She later retired from the cafeteria at Tri High School after 18 years.
Mrs. Dishman was a member of Lewisville Presbyterian Church since 1946 and was also a member of Lewisville’s R.S.T. Club. An avid bluegrass music enthusiast, she also served as a volunteer at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
She married Joe Vade Dishman in Greenfield on Dec. 31, 1938 and he survives. Other survivors include her son, Joe (wife, Judy) Dishman of Lewisville; four grandchildren (and spouses), Angie and Larry Reamer, Heather and Chris Ingenito, Trent and Katina Dishman, and Brandon and Holly Dishman; great grandchildren, Danielle, Haley and Braden Reamer, Alyssa, Andrew, Lindsay and Jackson Ingenito, Kylie, Vade Vance and Madelyn Dishman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two great grandchildren, Rylie Ingenito and Laurel Reamer; five brothers, Warren, Ralph, Floyd, Wilbur and Howard Davis; one sister, Gladys Cowan; and two infant siblings, Charles and Helen.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 2 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with Rev. Linda Philabaun and Robert Shaeffer officiating. Burial followed in Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home.
Joyce Ann Conley
April 4, 1945 – Oct. 10, 2005
Joyce Ann Conley, 60, of Knightstown, died Monday, Oct. 10, at her residence. She was born April 4, 1945, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Walter and Rena (Black) DeWitt.
Mrs. Conley lived most of her life in Knightstown and worked at the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home. She married Brad Conley, who survives, on Aug 7, 1987.
Mrs. Conley was a member of Faith United Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener who also enjoyed cross-stitch and needlepoint. She also loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Brad Conley; two sons, Brad B. (wife, Kim) Conley of Oregon, and Ronald E. (wife, Natasha) Conley of Greenfield; two daughters, Melinda Sue (husband, Chuck) Fitzpatrick of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jennifer Lynn Stephens of Indianapolis; two brothers, Dwayne DeWitt and Walter DeWitt, both of Owenton, Ky.; seven sisters, Lou Jean (husband, John) Willis of Knightstown, Geneva (husband, Dennie) Hopkins of Union City, Josephine (husband, William) Hinshaw of New Castle, Beverly Sue Wilburn of Union City, Betty Jean DeWitt of Owenton, Ky., Bonnie (husband, David) Robertson of Sanders, Ky., and Ruby (husband, Charles) Bannes of Orleans; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, A.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brothers.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, at Todd Funeral Home with Rev. Eldon Denney officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle following the service.
Ronnie C. Johnson
Dec. 10, 1943 – Oct. 8, 2005
Ronnie C. Johnson, 61, of Madisonville, Tenn., died at his residence on Saturday, Oct. 8. A former Shirley resident, Mr. Johnson moved to Tennessee in 2001.
Born in Waynesboro, Tenn., on Dec. 10, 1943, he was a son of Bessie K. Staggs DiCristofolo and the late George C. Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army from Aug. 15, 1961 to April 19, 1965.
He was a skilled craftsman and worked in the vibratory feeder equipment industry for over 40 years. Mr. Johnson worked for More Feed Corp., Service Engineering and Hendricks Engineering in Indianapolis and Fortville Feeders in Fortville. In 2002 he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own business, Madisonville Feeders.
Survivors include his wife of seven years, the former Katherine Suzanne Carter Blanton, whom he married in Shirley on Jan. 17, 1998; one son, Ronnie D. (wife, Kimberley) Johnson of Madisonville, Tenn.; three daughters, Bonnie L. Vasquez of Indianapolis, April D. (husband, Isaac) Mitchell of Anderson, and Miranda (husband, Jason) Brenner of Pendleton; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Bessie K. Staggs DiCristofolo of Greenwood; one brother, Montie (wife, Barbara) Johnson of Whiteland; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George C. Johnson, in April, 1988.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Shirley with Rev. Paul Masters of the Warrington Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the funeral home.
Anna L. Wyatt
February 3, 1928 – Oct. 6, 2005
Anna L. Wyatt, 77, of Knightstown, died Thursday, Oct. 6, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1928 in Morristown, a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Pottoroff) Andis.
Mrs. Wyatt was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Womans Christian Temperance Union. She enjoyed studying scripture, gardening and following politics. However, Mrs. Wyatt derived her greatest pleasure from spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Michael (wife, Stacia) Wyatt of Knightstown; three daughters, Michele Wyatt of Colorado Springs, Colo., Patricia (husband, Jim) Steele of Groveland, Mass., and Elizabeth (husband, Mark) Fort of Knightstown; six grandchildren, Kraig Gebhardt, Joey Wyatt, Anna, Sara and Samuel Steele, and Jack Wyatt Fort; two sisters, Lucy Wallace and Betty Everhart, both of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews.
In additional to her parents, Mrs. Wyatt was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wyatt; a sister, Freda Cassell; and three brothers, Clyde, Claude and Arthur Lindsay.
Serves were held Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Knightstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Brackney officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service – Knightstown Chapel.
