Irma Jean Porter
July 26, 1926 – Apr. 20, 2005
Irma Jean Porter, 78, died Wednesday, April 20 at Regency Place Nursing Home, Greenfield. She was born July 26, 1926 in Sciotoville, Ohio, daughter of the late Vonnie Church and Doris Starks.
Mrs. Porter had lived for many years in the Knightstown area. She had been a member of the New Life Wesleyan Church in Carthage for over 50 years.
She married Donald Porter of Carthage August 28, 1993 and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy (husband Stanley) Back of Shirley, and Pam (husband Marion) Buchanan of Knightstown; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Fuchs in 1975. One sister and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at Moster & Cox Mortuary, Rushville, Monday, April 25, with Charlie Stanley officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 24 at Moster & Cox.

Rema F. Maxwell
Jan. 8, 1936 – Apr. 24, 2005
Rema F. Maxwell, 69, of Wilkinson, died Sunday, April 24 at Kindred Health Care, Greenwood. She was born January 8, 1936, in Shirley, daughter of the late Chester and Madge (Muncy) Maxwell.
Ms. Maxwell was a graduate of Wilkinson High School and St. Mary’s College. She retired as a registered nurse from Hancock Memorial Hospital, Greenfield, and had also worked at St. John’s in Anderson. She was a member of the Shirley-Wilkinson Untied Methodist Church.
Several nieces and nephews survive.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Maxwell was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Harrison, Gene Maxwell, and Delbert Maxwell, and one sister, Bessie Bronnenberg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 27 at the Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson, with Rev. Jeff Mair officiating. Burial followed at Harlan Cemetery.
Visitation was at the funeral home, Tuesday, April 26.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church.
L. Viola Keller
July 20, 1922 – Apr. 23, 2005
L. Viola Keller, 82, died Saturday, April 23 in Riverside, Calif., of natural causes. She was born July 20, 1922, in Knightstown, the youngest daughter of the late Jesse C. and Lena B. Runyan.
Mrs. Keller graduated from Knightstown High School in 1940. She was valedictorian of her class. Before moving to Riverside, Calif. in 1956, she was a resident of Knightstown and New Castle. She was a homemaker and had worked at Harris’ Department Store for 12 years.
Mrs. Keller is survived by her children, S. Kay Pratt, Jay Keller, and Katrina Terkelsen, all of Riverside, Calif.; Karen Hebeler of Sun City, Calif.; son-in-law, Dennis Pratt; daughter-in-law, Debbie Keller; sister, Thelma Johnson of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keller was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roy A. Keller. Also preceding her in death were grandson Mark D. Pratt; two sisters, Pearl Van Buskirk and Marguerite Jones Greding; and a brother, Walter Runyan.
Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 1:30 p.m. at Olivewood Cemetery. Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, Riverside, Calif., are in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Riverside, 4845 Brockton Ave., Riverside, Calif., 92506-0134, the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Anna Laura (Ellis) Yearout
Oct. 9, 1920 – Apr. 19, 2005
Anna Laura (Ellis) Yearout, 84, died Tuesday, April 19 in Dallas, Texas. She was born October 9, 1920.
Survivors include two children, Terry Yearout and Yvonne Chenault; two brothers, Bernard Ellis and Norm Ellis; a sister, Jo Brackett; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23 in Lancaster, Texas. Burial was Tuesday, April 26 in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Todd Funeral Home was in charge of the local arrangements.
William “Bill” C. Elliott
July 7, 1929 – Apr. 25, 2005
William “Bill” C. Elliott, 75, a resident of Knightstown for 28 years, died Monday, April 25, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis. He was born July 7, 1929 in Indianapolis, son of the late Edwin S. Elliott Sr. and Jessie (Hamilton) Elliott.
Mr. Elliott was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School, Indianapolis, and attended Indiana Central College. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He retired from Eli Lilly in Greenfield after working in office administration for 43 years. Mr. Elliott was an avid fisherman and loved nature and the outdoors.
Mr. Elliott married Shirley Stevens February 14, 1976, and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Denise (husband Phil) Sellers of Deland, Fla., Cynthia Elliott of Indianapolis, and Andrea (fiancé Andrew Dutchess) Elliott of Noblesville; a sister, Betty Jean Kelliher of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Sean (wife Sarah) Sellers of Orlando, Fla., Matthew Sellers of Deland, Fla., Angela Sellers of Albuquerque, N.M., Jonathon Elliott and Casey Elliott, both of Indianapolis; and a special aunt, Nellie Wright.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by Edwin S. Elliott, Jr. on November 8, 2004.
Funeral service will be held Friday, April 29, 11 a.m. at Todd Funeral Home, Knightstown, with Rev. Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel, Knightstown, Thursday, April 28, 4-8 p.m.
LeRoy Craig
Aug. 2, 1937 – Apr. 23, 2005
LeRoy Craig, 67, of rural Shirley, died Saturday, April 23, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, following a brief illness. He was born August 2, 1937 in Knightstown, a son of the late Paul and Frances (Watson) Craig.
Mr. Craig was a 1955 graduate of Knightstown High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, where he served with the military police. He retired from Ameritech in 1995 after 35 years of service. Mr. Craig was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Kennard Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer.
He married Irene Ryckman June 22, 1958 and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, David Craig of Kennard, and Gary (wife Becky) Craig of Anderson; a granddaughter, Amber Craig of Anderson; two grandsons, Alex Craig of Anderson, and Brandon Craig of New Castle; four brothers, Bill Craig of New Castle, Bob (wife Tracy) Craig of Martinsville, Frank Craig of Kennard, and Jim (wife Delita) Craig of Knightstown; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Don Jackson of Lewisville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Craig was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Louise Craig, and a brother, Paul Eugene Craig.
Services were held Wednesday, April 27 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with the Reverends Marion McFarland and Jake Brown officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 26 at the funeral home.

Zachariah J. Edwards
Aug. 16, 1981 – Apr. 29, 2005
Zachariah J. Edwards, 23, a resident of Knightstown, died Friday, April 29, at Henry County Hospital, New Castle. He was born August 16, 1981, in Indianapolis, son of Timothy and Tracy (Wills) Edwards of Knightstown.
Zach was a 1999 graduate of Knightstown High School. He was employed as a prison security guard.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Ezekiel Edwards of Knightstown; a sister, Katlyn Edwards of Knightstown; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Jean Edwards of Indianapolis; and maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Wills of Indianapolis.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson, with Pastor Denny Neal officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
