Arnold L. Gorman
June 19, 1933 – Feb. 25, 2005
Knightstown resident Arnold L. Gorman, 71, died Friday, February 25 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 10, 1933 in Raysville, a son of the late James S. and Margaret (Van Ostrum) Gorman, Sr.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Gorman retired from Delco Remy Corp. in Anderson after 34 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #152 in Knightstown and the Indiana Sheriff’s Assn. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, play cards and spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Emily “Boots” (Morgan) Gorman; two sons, Jerry Gorman of Indianapolis and Perry Gorman of Wilkinson; a daughter, Patty (husband Joe) Paul of Knightstown; two brothers, James S. Gorman, Jr. of Virginia and Fred Gorman of Knightstown; four sisters, Mary (husband Charles) Edmonds, Phyllis Yost and Carolyn Dennis, all of Florida; and Geneva Dye of New Castle; six grandsons, Jeremy and Dustin Gorman, both of Knightstown, Jacob Gorman of Middletown, Austin Gorman of Wilkinson, Matthew May of Knightstown and Joseph May of Edinburgh; a step-grandson, Ethan Paul of Carthage; one aunt, Almeda Burton of Knightstown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, a daughter, Deborah Gorman, a grandson, James Gorman, and two sisters, Irene Ernstes and Joyce Tompkins preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday, March 1 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bertram and Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery with military services conducted by Knightstown American legion Post #152.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, February 28.

Daniel Hyatt
Oct. 25,1919 – Feb. 24, 2005
Wilkinson resident, Daniel Hyatt, 85, died at his residence Thursday, February 24. He was born October 25, 1919 in St. Pauls, N.C., a son of the late Joseph A. and Janie (Sikes) Hyatt.
Mr. Hyatt retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1981 and was the owner of H & H Shoe Store & Repair in Wilkinson for 40 years. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion. He served during WW II in the 3rd Marine Headquarters Co., 3rd Division in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Opal (Yount) Hyatt of Wilkinson; one son, Daniel D. (wife Peggy) Hyatt of Parker City; five daughters, Betty (husband Tommie) Bowen of Indianapolis, Juanita (husband Terry) Reason of Wilkinson, Dorothy (husband John) Ankrom of Indianapolis, Glenda (husband Brad) Thompson of Wilkinson and Janis (husband Tommy) Braxton of West Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Roscoe, Rowland, Paul and James Robert Hyatt and two sisters, Laura Lee Strickland and Betty Lorraine Shaw preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 28 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Curt Solomon officiating. Burial was in McCray Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post #152.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Sunday, February 27.

Margaret E. Whiteman
July 13 1912 – Feb. 22, 2005
Margaret E. Whiteman, 92, a resident of Greenfield, died Tuesday, February 22 at Hancock Memorial in Greenfield. She was born July 13, 1912 in Hazen, Ark., a daughter of the late Albert and Hattie (Wilkins) Youngblood.
Mrs. Whiteman was a registered nurse for 43 years and graduated from Christian Hospital of Nursing School in St. Louis, Mo., and had also graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminary in 1940. She served as Director of Nursing at Hancock Memorial Hospital in the early 1960s. She was a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ for over 50 years. After retiring, she was involved in the Rock Hound Club and enjoyed quilting, painting, needle crafting and many other crafting projects.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Whiteman of Greenfield; two sons, David (wife Marla) Whiteman of Kansas City, Mo. and Jonathan (wife Nancy) Whiteman of Danville; four grandchildren, Rachel Whiteman, Chad Whiteman, Brian Whiteman and Andy Whiteman; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Youngblood of Lansing, Ill. and Robert Youngblood of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Youngblood and a sister, Elva Gilbert.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 26 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial was in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
Visitation was held at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Helen Kline
Sept. 6, 1920 – Fb. 25, 2005
Helen Kline, 84, of Greenfield, died Friday, February 25 in Oaklandon. She was born September 6, 1920 in Star City, a daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth (Densborn) Royer.
Mrs. Kline, a graduate of Tyner High School was a homemaker. She was a member of Browns Chapel Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are two sons, Vance Kline and Wayne Kline, both of Greenfield; one daughter, Loretta (Kline) Greenwalt of Greenfield; two brothers, Joe Royer of Anderson and Dan Royer of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister, Ruth Phillippe of Avon; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchlid.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Kline in 2000; a son, Gordon Kline; one daughter, Glenda Hughes; and one sister, Lois Marley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, (Wednesday, March 2) at Browns Chapel Wesleyan Church in Greenfield with Pastors Steve Bradley and Jim Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 1 at Pasco-Stillinger Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Stephen Michael Petry
Nov. 19, 1970 – ar. 1, 2005
Stephen Michael Petry, 34, of Carthage, died Tuesday, March 1 in Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. He was born November 19, 1970 in Greenfield, a son of Dahl and Kay (Davis) Petry.
Mr. Petry worked as a laborer. He was a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church of Carthage and belonged to U.M.R.A.
He is survived by his parents, Dahl and Kay Petry of Carthage; two brothers, Warren (wife Cheyanne) Petry and Scott (wife Diane) Petry; grandmother, Alice Davis of Carthage; grandparents, Quentin and Joyce Petry of Greenfield; and seven nephews.
His grandfather, Harold Davis, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4 at Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage with Pastor Roger Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at the Fletcher United Methodist Church.

Pearl Lee Johnson
Apr. 24, 1931 – Mar. 2, 2005
Pearl Lee Johnson, 73, of Carthage, died Wednesday, March 2 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 24, 1931 in Harlan County, Ky., a son of the late Charles and Polly Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a resident of Carthage for the last 10 years, having moved here from Indianapolis.
He was a parts attendant for West Vaco and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Greenfield.
Survivors include one son, Steven Johnson of Carthage; one brother, Larry Johnson of Ft. Meyers, Fla., two sisters, Irene (Hershall) Longworth of Indianapolis and Shelby Jean May of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Cleta (Muncy) Johnson, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Walker Funeral Home in Hyden, Ky. on Saturday, March 5 with burial at Halls Rest Haven Cemetery, Hyden, Ky.
Visitation was held at Todd Funeral Home, Carthage Chapel on Friday, March 4.
Herman Vaughn Nibarger
Dec. 1, 1917 – Ma. 4, 2005
Herman Vaughn Nibarger, 87, died Friday, March 4 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Nibarger, a resident of Anderson, was born December 1, 1917 in Markleville, Hancock County. He was the son of the late Homer and Mayme (Hindricks) Nibarger.
Mr. Nibarger was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1980. He also worked as an equipment sales dealer, retiring in 1961.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Edna (McCune) Nibarger of Anderson; a son, Robert E. Nibarger of Virginia Beach, Va.; two granddaughters, Carmen (husband John) Compton, Montsursville, Pa. and Krista (husband Joshua) Hodsden of Akron, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 7 at Condo & Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson with burial following in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, prior to the service.
