Willard Eugene Roberts, 55, of New Castle, died Thursday, Dec. 1, at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
He was born March 13, 1950, in Greensburg, a son of Ernest and Evelyn (Davis) Roberts of New Castle.
Mr. Roberts attended school in Mt. Summit and New Castle. He was a member of Hillsboro Church of Christ and enjoyed music, particularly gospel and country.
Survivors include his parents; three sisters, Bernice (husband, Lee) Stacey of Knightstown, Patty (husband, Kelly) Sayre of New Castle, Sandra (husband, Ronald) Collins of McCordsville; four brothers, Smiley Edward (wife, Linda) Dixon of Shelbyville, Roger Dale (wife, Mary) Dixon of Spencerville, Ohio, William (wife, Sherryl) Roberts of Swayzee, Charles Roberts of Fairmount; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Marcum Community Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Wayne Thacker officiating. Burial followed at Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.
C.B. Davis
Feb. 28, 1934 – Nov. 29, 2005
C.B. Davis, 71, of Albany, Ky., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, at T.J. Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, Ky. He was born February 28, 1934.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davis; two sons, Jeff and Dennis Davis of Kennard; two sisters, Ilene Shiflet of Alabama, and Ruby Summers of Radcliffe, Ky.; and two brothers, Ralph Davis of Lexington, Ky., and Wendell Davis of Albany, Ky.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Talbott Funeral Home in Albany, Ky., with Brother Don Davis officiating. Burial followed in Piercey Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home.
Robert M. Stefandel
Jan. 11, 1916 – Dec. 11, 2005
Robert M. Stefandel, 89, of Spiceland, died Sunday, Dec. 11, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 11, 1916, in Granity City, Ill., a son of the late Frank and Laura (Derrow) Stefandel.
Mr. Stefandel retired from the Chrysler Corporation after serving an inspector for 29 years. He had lived in Spiceland since 1949 and was a member of Spiceland United Methodist Church. Mr. Stefandel served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific under General McArthur.
Survivors include a daughter, Grace L. (husband, Norman) Reece of Spiceland; a grandson, Dane Reece of New Castle; a granddaughter, Glenda Reece of Spiceland; a sister-in-law, Wanda Stefandel of Sulphur Springs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Louise Stefandel; a brother, Howard Stefandel; and a sister, Mary Poynter.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesady, Dec. 14, at Spiceland United Methodist Church with Revs. Jeff Landon and Brian Campbell, along with Pastor Randy Shinolt, officiating. Burial, including full military rites conducted by New Castle American Legion and VFW posts, followed in Circle Grove Cemetery. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home.
Norma J. Lockridge
March 31, 1932 – Dec. 8, 2005
Norma J. (Zimmerman) Lockridge, 73, of Knightstown, died Thursday, Dec. 8, at her home.
She was born March 31, 1932, in Spiceland, the daughter of the late Albert and Pauline (Culberson) Zimmerman.
Mrs. Lockridge was a life-long housewife and homemaker, who enjoyed gardening. She was a former employee of Indiana Knitwear.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, George Lockridge of Knightstown; a daughter, Debra (Thomas) Wainscott of Knightstown; a grandson, George Wainscott of Knightstown; and a brother, Walter Zimmerman of Charlottesville.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Paul Enyart officiating. Burial followed at Harlan Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.

Irene Overman
July 3, 1924 – Dec. 6, 2005
Irene Overman, 81, of Knightstown, died at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
She was born July 3, 1924, in Elcho, Wis., the daughter of the late Peter and Mabel (Rose) Middleton.
Mrs. Overman graduated from Greenfield High School and Fayetteville Beauty College. She was co-owner of Overman Plumbing, Heating and Electrical in Knightstown. A lontime member of the Knightstown Busienss and Professional Women’s Association (BPW), she was BPW’s 1984 Woman of the Year. She served as president of BPW from 1989-1990 and was also a member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Overman was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and she loved lighthouses.
Through 59 years of marriage, she was considered an anchor and guiding light for her husband and children.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda L. Overman of Pawleys Island, SC; two sons, James S. (wife, Martha) Overman of Rocklin, Cal., and Randall W. (wife, Christine) Overman of Knightstown; eight grandchildren, Scott (wife, Ann) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Brian Johnson, Patricia Overman, Lorell (husband, Jason) Duteil, Terrell Overman, Bradley (wife, Michelle) Overman, Daniel Overman; three great-grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Rayannon Overman, Derek Overman, three brothers, Bernard Covey, Les Covey and Glen Covey; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. Overman in 2002; a granddaughter, Laura Lynne Johnson; and four brothers, Jim Middleton, Byron Middleton, Clarence Middleton and Jerry Covey.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Condo & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Lewis officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home.

Evelyn D. Dicken

Evelyn C. Dicken, 88, of Tucson, Ariz., a former New Castle resident, died Friday, Dec. 1, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 10, 1917, a daughter of the late Heeman and Stella (Kinder) Miller,
Mrs. Dicken was a former employee of Charles McCowan Insurance Agency in New Castle. During World War II she worked as a military secretary in Seattle, Wash. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church in New Castle, Midway Baptist Church in Carthage and Heritage Baptist Church in Tucson, Ariz.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. John (wife, Sanra) Dicken of Goshen, and Rev. Steve (wife, Nancy) Dicken of Tucson, Ariz; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Dicken, who died in 1973; three sisters, Annie, Bonnie and Helen; and two half-brothers.
Funeral services are Friday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at Main & Davis Funeral Home, Broad Street Chapel, in New Castle with Dr. John Dicken officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. prior to funeral services on Friday, Jan. 9. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
Sammy Shelton
Jan. 13, 1959 – Dec. 16, 2005
Sammy Shelton, 46, of New Castle, died Friday, Dec. 16, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born Jan. 13, 1959, in New Castle, a son of the late Robert and Joan (McCall) Shelton.
Mr. Shelton enjoyed helping people and being with his friends. He also enjoyed music and recording songs.
Survivors include a daughter, Stacy Shelton of Hawaii; a son, Lucus Shelton of Hagerstown; his fiance, Barbara Nicholas Shelton of New Castle; his former wife, Traci Shelton of Hagerstown; a special friend, Mary Martt of New Castle; one brother, Don (wife, Sandy) Shelton of Knightstown; a very special friend, John (wife, Joann) Griffin; three nephews, John (wife, Sara) Wallace of Muncie, Josh Shelton of Knightstown, and Brian (wife, Erin) Shelton of New Castle; a niece, Casey Shelton of Yorktown; a great nephew, Rick Koger of New Castle; a god daughter, Ashlyn Daniell Clouse of New Castle.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Shelton, in July 2005; his father, Robert Shelton, in 1995; a sister, Robin Shelton, in 1994; a daughter, Bonnie Jean Shelton, in 1980; and an aunt, Elizabeth Madden, in 2002.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Main & Davis Funeral Home, Broad Street Chapel, in New Castle with Sister Shirley Girth officiating. Burial followed in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Visitation was one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
