Thelma L. McRoberts

Knightstown resident, Thelma L. McRoberts, 83, died Saturday, March 13 at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. She was born February 22, 1921 in Muses Mills, Ky., a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Fisher) Pitts.
Mrs. McRoberts worked as a secretary for New Castle Schools. She had lived in Knightstown most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Knightstown Wesleyan Church. She married Oral McRoberts on February 22, 1939 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol (husband Richard) Moore of Carthage; one brother, Ivan Pitts, Pendleton; two grandchildren, Robert A. Moore and Cyndy (husband Jeff) Butler; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Services were held Tuesday, March 16 at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel with Rev. Roger Abraham officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, March 15.
Margaret J. Conner
Jan. 14, 1920 – Mar. 13, 2004
Margaret J. (Brouhard) Conner, 84, of Greenfield, died Saturday, March 13 at Kindred Health Care in Greenwood. She was born January 14, 1920 in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Ora and Effie May (Barrett) Brouhard.
Mrs. Conner graduated from Greenfield High School in 1938 and married Carl E. Conner on August 11, 1938. The homemaker was a member of the ABC Club in Brandywine Township, Fountaintown Christian Church, the Joy Club and the Mites Society.
Surviving are three sons, Tom Conner of Mooresville, David Conner and Donald Conner, both of Fountaintown; two daughters, Marjorie Tracy of Morristown and Janell Parish of Kennard; two sisters, Charlotte Kingery and Madge Wilson, both of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Carl E. Conner on December 9, 1965; a son, John E. Conner on December 5, 2002; and brothers, Bob Brouhard and Lawrence Brouhard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 17) at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 16 at the funeral home.

E. Juanita McIntosh

E. Juanita McIntosh, 83, of Knightstown, died Sunday, March 14 at Henry County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born August 15, 1920 in Eli, Ky., a daughter of the late George and Etter (Withers) Wilson.
A Knightstown area resident for over 56 years, she was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Russell County, Ky. She attended school at Free Union School on Gosser Ridge in Russell County, Ky. A homemaker, she loved cooking, sewing, fishing and camping with her husband and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia (husband Bill) Hatfield of Knightstown; one stepson, Jackie (wife Anita) McIntosh of Spiceland; two stepdaughters, Jerri (husband Dory) Gross of Cambridge City and Judy Rucker of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Kathleen McIntosh of Paintlick, Ky.; two grandchildren, Julia (husband Todd) Lawhorne of Knightstown and Adam Hatfield of Tucson, Ariz.; 12 step-grandchildren, Dr. David (wife Connie) McIntosh of Muncie, Teresa McIntosh of Lexington, Ky., Mary McIntosh of Paintlick, Ky., Anthony Ray of Arlington, Darla (husband Jeff) VanDuyne of Morristown, Jimmy (wife Sandra) Rucker of Cambridge City, Danyelle (husband James) Moore of Morristown, Scott (wife Shellie) McIntosh of New Castle, Eric McIntosh of Hagerstown, Shari Foust (husband Clyde) Cochrane of Bloomington, Laurallee Rucker of Carthage and Edward Rucker, Jr. of Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jo Buckley and Jeanette (husband Carlo) Hooker, both of Knightstown, and Sara McIntosh (husband John) of Huntington; two brothers, Gene (wife Lavada) Wilson of Carthage, and Ned (wife Susie) Wilson of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. McIntosh; stepson, David McIntosh; a brother, Arva Wilson; and a sister, Vickie Harris.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at Smyrna Baptist Church in Spiceland with Rev. Larry Delon and Rev. Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at Smyrna Baptist Church.

Judy Ann Langley

Judy Ann Langley, 40, of New Castle died Friday, March 12 in I.U. Medical Center, Indianapolis. She was born July 19, 1963 in Rushville, a daughter of Kenneth and Sally (Aker) Smith.
Judy attended Knightstown High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed book collecting and reading.
She is survived by her husband David, whom she married September 18, 1981; her mother, Sally Smith of Knightstown; three step-children, Brad (wife Jennen) of Ohio, Amy (husband Mark) of Ohio, and Jennifer of Nebraska; six step-grandchildren; grandmother, Lois Smith of Shelbyville; mother-in-law, Evelyn Langley of Shirley; one brother, Jack (wife Penny) Grizzell of Knightstown; four sisters, Debbie (husband Jack) Catron of New Castle, Loretta Penn of New Castle, Tammy (husband Danny) Chew of Lewisville, and Cindy Hamilton of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Her father, grandfather Fred Smith and brother-in-law, Nate Hamilton, preceded her in death.
Services were held Tuesday, March 16 Marcum-Troxell Community Funeral Home with burial in Asberry Cemetery in Morristown.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, March 15.
Virginia I. Roland
Jan. 21, 1926 – Mar. 22, 2004
Virginia I. Roland, 78, a resident of Knightstown, died Monday, March 22 at Brandywine Manor Convalescent Center in Greenfield. She was born January 21, 1926 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Vernon and Sara Ellen (Gentry) Roberts.
Mrs. Roland was a florist in Knightstown and Greenfield. She is also a former member of the Christian Church of Knightstown.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Roland of Knightstown; one daughter, Judith Sloan of Knightstown; one son, Gary (wife Judith Ann) Roland of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren; Amy Wisehart, Angie Black Kilgore, Amanda Sloan, Emily Sloan, Brandon Roland and Clinton Roland; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Roberts of Tampa, Fla., and Arthur Vernon Roberts of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Wilma Craig of Portland, Ore., Christina Timm of New Palestine, and Jane Page of St. George, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 26 at the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25.
Doris L. Grigson
Mar. 13, 1922 – Mar. 21, 2004
Former Knightstown resident, Doris L. Grigson, 82, of New Castle, died Sunday, March 21 Heritage House Nursing Home. She was born March 13, 1922 in Rushville, a daughter of the late Charles and Ines (Frampton) Gorman.
Mrs. Grigson retired from the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Raysville Friends Church and a 1940 graduate of Knightstown High School.
Surviving are one son, George (wife Patricia) Grigson of New Castle; one daughter, Nona Mae (husband Tim) Bazzell of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Ralph Gorman of New Castle; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 24) at Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel, Knightstown with Rev. Chris Sitler officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday, March 23.
Crystal McClarnon
Mar. 14, 1921 – Mar. 28, 2004
Crystal McClarnon, 83, of Greenfield died Sunday, March 28. She was born March 14, 1921 in Shirley and was a daughter of the late Mabel (Orr) and John Rigney.
Mrs. McClarnon worked at the Wilkinson Telephone Company and Smith Grocery in Wilkinson. She was also employed for 25 years by Dr. Robert W. Kuhn. She attended both the Wilkinson and Shirley high schools. Mrs. McClarnon was an active member of the Lilac Literary Club, Shirley Order of the Eastern Star #492 and the Wilkinson Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter, Marcia (husband Tom) Fettinger of Greenfield; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Martha Byers of Centralia, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McClarnon was preceded in death by her husband, William McClarnon, in 1982. Two brothers, Dallas and Gene Rigney, and two sisters, Elsie Day and Lucile Eakin, also preceded her in death.
Private graveside services will be held for the family at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Condo & Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
