Russell G. Cramer
Sept. 2, 1923 – Jan. 22, 2004
Russell G. Cramer, 80, a resident of Warrington, died Thursday, January 22 in Hancock Memorial Hospital. He was born September 2, 1923 in Fortville, a son of the late George and Myrtle (Kendell) Cramer.
Mr. Cramer retired from Freightliner Manufacturing Co. in Indianapolis and had also worked at M & M in Fortville. He was a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge #477, the Eden Eastern Star #101, Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Greenfield Odd Fellows #135, Past Noble Grand of Hope Rebekah Lodge #114 and Wilkinson and Fortville Brotherhood and Sisterhood.
Survivors include his wife, Camilla Cramer of Warrington; one son, John (wife Peggy) Hendrix of Pendleton; two daughters, Martha Ann Fech of Lilburn, Ga., and Patty (husband Steve) Carr of Upland; one stepson, Will (wife Kim) Anderson of Greenfield; six grandsons, four step-granddaughters, and 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mary Cramer of Fortville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Martha J. Cramer in 1990; one brother, Leonard “Tink” Cramer; and grandmother, Mellie May Cramer.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Sunday, January 25 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Gerald Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville. Visitation was held prior to the service on Sunday with Eden Masonic Lodge Service at 5 p.m.
William E. Rinard
July 20, 1930 – Jan. 25, 2004
William E. Rinard, 73, of Knightstown died Sunday, January 25 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. He was born July 20, 1930 in Waterloo, Iowa, a son of the late Frank and Hilda (Larson) Rinard.
Mr. Rinard moved to Knightstown from Indianapolis 10 years ago. He was a carpenter and a member of the Knightstown Christian Church and Knightstown American Legion Post #152.
On April 17, 1953, he married Ines Rinard who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dennis Rinard of Indianapolis and Damon Rinard, member of the U.S. Air Force; one daughter, Karen (husband Jerry) Zeilinga of Knightstown; one brother, Cecil Rinard of Fortville; and three grandchildren.
One son and three sisters preceded him in death.
Services will be held at the Todd Funeral Home at the family’s convenience. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. There will be no calling hours.
Ralph E. Chew
May 11, 1933 – Jan. 27, 2004
Ralph E. Chew, 70, of Knightstown died Tuesday, January 27 in Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. He was born May 11, 1933 in Knightstown, the son of the late George M. and Ruth Emma (Craft) Chew.
Mr. Chew was a lifelong resident of Knightstown and worked as a mechanic at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home. He was a 1951 graduate of Knightstown High School and a tank mechanic for the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion Post #152.
Survivors include five sons, Kenneth (wife Vicki) Chew of McCordsville, Max Chew, Tim (wife Brenda) Chew, James (wife Lori) Chew and Kevin Chew, all of Knightstown; two daughters, Laura (husband Tim) Tapp of Knightstown, and Ruthie (husband Darryl) Dudley of Dunreith; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Services were held Saturday, January 31 at the Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Rev. George Maloyed officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery with military services provided by Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and VFW.
Visitation was Friday, January 30 at the funeral home.
Stanford H. Collins
May 26, 1928 – Jan. 27, 2004
Stanford H. Collins, 75, a resident of Ft. Wayne and former resident of Knightstown, died Tuesday, January 27 at DuPont Hospital in Ft. Wayne. He was born May 26, 1928 in Greensboro, the son of the late H.L. and Lillian (Jacoby) Collins.
Stan was a 1946 graduate of Knightstown High School. He began his career teaching Industrial Arts at Knightstown High School and then started working at the CCA Paper Mill in Carthage. He retired from Rock-Tenn Co. in Eaton as vice-president, general manager. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army, receiving two Bronze stars, two Overseas bars and the United Nations service medal. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Milford, Ohio, a lifetime member of the American Legion in Knightstown, Moose Lodge in Muncie, and High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie. His hobbies included old cars, motorcycles, golfing, cooking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Jewel (Brammer) Collins of Ft. Wayne; one son, Brent (wife Lesa) Collins of South Beach, Oregon; one daughter, Cindy (husband Ken) Mace of Muncie; two step-daughters, Julie (husband Alan) Andridge of Quincy, Mich., and Patti (husband Bill) Earl of Coldwater, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Winkie LeMay of Bluffton, S.C. and Susan Priddy of Fishers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Phyllis Jane Collins in 1994; one brother, Jack Collins; and one sister, Judy Collins Oliver.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Rev. Richard Thayer officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military graveside rites.
Visitation was held Friday, January 30 at the funeral home.

Angel Louise Surber

The daughters of Ronnell R. Smith and Michael J. Surber of Indianapolis died Wednesday, January 28 in a trailer fire in Indianapolis. Angel Louise Surber, 8 years old, was born April 5, 1995 and was a second grader. Monica Rene, 7 years old, was born December 6, 1996 and was a first grader. They both attended Garden City Elementary School in Indianapolis.
Survivors include the parents; a brother, Joseph Mitchell Smith of Indianapolis; their grandmother, Diane McCune; Aunts Michelle D. Smith of Indianapolis and Sherrie A. Smith of Greenfield; great-grandmother, Lois Smith of Carthage; plus many other relatives in the Knightstown and Carthage area.
They were preceded in death by a grandfather Royce Smith, great-grandfathers Fred Smith and Clyde Hager, and step-grandfather Bobby McCune, all of Knightstown, great-grandmother Dorothy Hilton of New Castle and Aunt Teresa Lynn Smith.

Visitation was held Sunday, February 1 at the Family Funeral Home in Indianapolis. Pastor Tom Taylor conducted memorial services at the funeral home on Monday, February 2. Burial was in West Ridge Park Cemetery.

Albert L. Hill
May 25, 1916 – Feb. 1, 2004
Albert L. Hill, 87, of rural Falmouth, died Sunday, February 1 at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville where he had been a resident for five days. He was born May 25, 1916 in rural Lewisville, a son of the late Sherman and Ruth Miles Hill.
Mr. Hill graduated from Raleigh High School in 1935 where he played four years of basketball. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. Albert was a staff sergeant in Co. “B” 351st Engineer Regiment serving in England, France, Germany and in the Battle of the Bulge. He won the expert rifle medal award by scoring a 190.
Albert lived in Washington Township, Rush County all of his life. He and his wife lived on the family farm for 55 years where he farmed with his sons. His hobbies were artifacts, reading, horses (Paints and Heflingers), attending sales and listening to music and sports. He was a 75 years member of Raleigh Christian Church, 50 year member of Orange Lodge #234 F&AM, Rushville Elks, Farm Bureau, American Legion #150 of Rushville, AMVETS, Eagles, 40 & 8 of Connersville and a past trustee of Raleigh Zion Cemetery.
Besides his wife, Evelyn M. McBride Hill, whom he married on March 30, 1946 in Maryland, he is survived by two sons, Stephen D. (wife Elaine) Hill and Arnold L. (wife Mary) Hill, all of rural Falmouth; three grandchildren, Jason (wife Angie) Hill of Tampa, Fla., Jennifer (husband Justin) Paddack of rural Lewisville, and Brian (wife Lori) Hill of rural Falmouth; three great-grandchildren, River and Nash Paddack and Grant Hill; two sisters, Isabelle Dill of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Marjorie (husband George) Brownell of Rushville; and nieces and nephews.
A sister, June Hill, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 5 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel, with Rev. Tony Augsburger officiating. Burial will follow in Raleigh Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 150 and V.F.W. Post 1541 of Rushville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 4) at the funeral home.

Marcia Louise Wisehart

Marcia Louise Wisehart, 70, former resident of the Kennard and New Castle communities, died Monday, February 5 at her home in Somerset, Ky. She was born September 16, 1933 in New Castle, the daughter of the late Vernon Marion and Eva (Gordan) Harwood.
Mrs. Wisehart was a homemaker and founder of the Teddy Bear Missionary. She was a member of the Southern Heights Christian Church in Somerset.
Survivors include her husband whom she married October 9, 1953, Luther Wisehart of Somerset, Ky.; one son, Robin Luther Wisehart of New Castle; three daughters, Starlyn Louise Atkins of New Castle, Timmy Anne Bundy of Delphi, and Krysty Lea Burroughs of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Roberta Jean Koontz of Mooreland and Margaret May Cochrel of Anderson; 12 grandchildren, Tracy Weisheit, Fred Weisheit, Holly Bundy McCoy, Kaycie Bundy Laughner, Jennifer Atkins, James Atkins, Amber Hiatt, Ramsey Hiatt, Sam Hiatt, Ariana Hiatt McCarter, Kaitlyn Burroughs and Sierra Burroughs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 6 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Harlan Cemetery.
